As Swine Flu Shots Begin, Officials Fear Shortage
by PubliusFrom the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

- Mark O’Keefe Outside Vaccine Lines in Milwaukee
As the Milwaukee Health Department gears up for its first public swine flu clinic Friday, the beginning of what is expected to be the largest mass vaccination in decades, city officials and metro area health departments say they are facing a shortage of the vaccine.
Milwaukee officials hope to funnel people into a dozen or more vaccine lines to handle the demand Friday, but they are worried that they may run out before they can hold additional clinics planned for Saturday and next week.
The same scenario has been playing out this week across the metro area. On Thursday night at Cedarburg High School, a vaccine clinic drew more than a thousand people who lined up around the building. Earlier, Ozaukee County Health Department officials warned that they expected to run out of the H1N1 vaccine.
Thursday night, Ozaukee County Health Director Glenda Madlom said between 1,600 and 1,700 doses were administered at the clinic, which was extended from a scheduled 8 p.m. closing to 9 p.m.
Some people, however, had to be turned away because it got too late, Madlom said.
Waukesha County has three clinics set for next week; officials sent out a notice Thursday saying supplies were limited so they first want to reach the target group – healthy, non-pregnant people ages 2 to 49, especially health care workers or those who care for infants.

Iconic image of a rugged, independent American! (Is this James O'Keefe's brother?)
This a preview of things to come with a Public Option. When a greater way of dealing with Healthcare is to let consumers purchase across state lines and if Congress would impliment Tort Reform. Neither of these options (real options as opposed to Public Option) would not cost the American public a plug nickel. Instead we get a $900,000,000,000 Healthcare proposal that will saddle our child and grandchild with a debt that cannot be paid….
Well that is strange.
"reach the target group – healthy, non-pregnant people ages 2 to 49, especially health care workers or those who care for infants"
If you watch president Obama on his reason for not taking the vaccine, he says just the opposite of who comes first.
He said, the Unhealthy, and the Pregnant women are going first.
You can watch him here

Biggovernment website just declared unsafe by Microsoft Smartware for Explorer when I came to it. What is up with that and who was the stupid hippie at Microsoft that thought this was a smart move.
Makes me worry about what the hell Smartware does to protect my computer against actual threats.
I am with you on that Lorben. Why are they not opening the state lines to Health Insurance companies? Oh I know, it would cost their special interest groups money. Wouldn't want fair competition.
Microsoft is designed to cause problems, not fix them. Get a MAC
Tom,
Did this error just start? Was it not giving that message before?
Well, why are you using Internet Explorer?

As someone who's had it (and barely noticed), my ex had it, and my nine year-old daughter had it, my recommendation is to not get overly concerned if you don't have the chance to get the vaccine. I'm not necessarily with the people who say the vaccine is dangerous, but then again the flu isn't either (unless you're in a high risk category or ignore the symptoms).
No I would never use Internet Exploder. I am developer and Exploder is a thorn in my side.
I use Firefox most of the time, but do use safari some of the time.
In California almost 1 out of every ten people hospitalized with swine flu die. Our number of cases in the past week have quadrupled, just after the nasal spray with the Live virus. I know the live virus in the spray isn't supposed to spread, but Baxter also wasn't supposed to sell people AIDS tainted medicine either and they did.
How true this is…
Think about it. If you are large drug company making $$$ off of a vaccine, wouldn't it be in your best financial interest if more people needed it?
drudge has a post that Obamas kids havent gotten the swine flu shot, do as i say not as i do
I think it is because it would open people's eyes to the cost of those darling "mandated coverages". It's easy to say the insurance company MUST cover Condition X, but when it comes to the consumer paying the insurance company for the cost of assuming that risk it isn't quite as nice. Especially when then consumer knows he/she has little or no likelihood of contracting that condition. It's all smoke and mirrors to them.
I just posted the VIDEO of Obama saying his family will not take the shot yet! He went on CBS this morning
Didn't see that coming
Isn't almost everything in our Society smoke and mirrors these days? Just like many great civilizations throughout our history. Overtime corruption took over, and got worse and worse, until the good honest people stood up and said enough is enough.
Sorry CNN the Communist News Network, not the Communist Broadcasting System
I will say one thing. If this administration is forcing us to take a dangerous vaccine, and people start dying from it. I will march my but to Washington and force them all to take it.
You say 1 out of 10 hospitalized with swine flu die. If that is just in California, I would say there's a problem with the California hospitals.
Just under 1 out of 10. We have 3500 hospitalizations and 240 deaths.
AND…it is growing FAST…Hence the state of emergency….I have an article posted on the topic, with links to the news site that gave the statistics.
http://myfreepress.net/2009/233-deaths-in-califor...
At least when the Government decides to euthanize us there will be a loooong waiting list at the death clinics.
Tear down the washington monument and replace it with a giant syringe
I'll help.
hahaha
False positive. Use Firefox.
You're right. There are many more things they could do just to take costs down but a fascist trained in Marxism won't listen.
Why are the Obama girls getting flu shots?
That's what I was wondering.
They don't need the shot as they're already immune to Obamaflu.
CBS has this buried deep on their website today… Yesterday it was front and center.

Firefox is the bomb. IE never works right…
But I like mouse buttons too much to go with Mac
Bill Gates and Microsoft are just as bad as our politicians. They purposely provide products that fail so they can sell you the solution.
We should also have the option of Health Care Savings Plans. But that would be to freeing to the American individual…we must get in the line and march in step…goosestep…
I would not take that engineered vaccine for the bio-engineered flu if they threatened to hang me!!!
They are trying to kill us, that is my thinking. Look who the health Czar is and his opinion about population control. In Europe there have already been deaths from the vaccine. First outbreak of the H1N1 was about a month after Obama and his crew visited Mexico (in Mexico)…hmmmm. This so-called epidemic has been engineered and the vaccine has been mass produced with no time for proper testing.
Read these two articles below and form your own opinions. Intelligent people are waking up and today's polls say that 6 out of 10 people will refuse to get the shot.

Health Care Savings Plans…YES YES!!!
Before Billary in the early '90s an office visit cost me $30 and RX were still cheap and sometimes free. We need to rip out all of the garbage (gov. intervention, HMOs) also to get costs back down. I'm going to offer to pay in cash again to find better deals, as long as I can still choose my doctors. Since there's a Dr. shortage and 45% may quit because of Obamunism my plan may not pan out.
It's actually a contraceptive…. He said early on that if his girls made a mistake they should not be punished for it by having a baby….. Baby's ARE punishment in the prism of a community organizer ! Disgusting people….
Government cant even get the flu thing right….what makes people think they could run health care, IN GENERAL, right?
Answer…they cant!!
And Obama cant get a whole hell of a lot of ANYTHING right, for that matter
Great picture – I think i'll find out where mine line will be and do it too!!!

CBS must have received a "Quash It!" message from the White House. Seriously.
I am FAR from a paradigm of perfect health. I smoke like i'm on fire, and drink like I'm tryin to put it out. However, I also treat every flu the same way. No meds, no OTC drugs, just rest, fluids,(OJ) and spicy food. I haven't had more than 3 sick days a year for the past 10. I have never had a flu shot. There's a reason for our immune system. the more we let it become lazy by using drugs to reduce it's need, the less it works. If you can handle the sniffles and the occasional green-apple quickstep, you'll do yourself a great service.
Need anybody say more ?? Errr… Please do NOT lose sight of the fact that Obamacare is NOT about Americans health care… Smart up, people…. If it WAS about health care (read H1N1 vaccination supply) he would make every conceivable effort to be SURE it was available in ample supply to the children in particular. He has the power to insure it WOULD be ready and available. He simply sent his she-minion Sebelius (what an idiot) to state the putz's position. And again..FAILED !
My family goes to a Nurse Practioner 99.9% of the time. We love her, becauses she is so caring and every bit as good as any Doc I have seen. She is probably going to be driven out of her practice if this HC as proposed by the idiots in DC is driven through. She will not work for the Government system if she can help it. I pray to God we can hold off these jerks in DC like Billary's was and move into a new Congress willing to listen to other options and have a real debate and not a contrived one.
Bill Gates went to DC and advocated for more foreign worker visas instead of hiring Americans.
Then when they started to lay off workers in the economic crunch, he wanted to lay off the americans before the visaed workers. No loyalties I tell ya!
I will never use another Microsoft product as long as I live. There is to many free options, developed by companies who do it to contribute back to society. Why support Bill Gates when you can support the lonely developer doing to help you.
OH I remember, the same reason we vote in these jokers to office. We don't care what is on the inside just the outside.
Haven't heard president pencil necked geek say he has gotten the the H1N1 shot himself either, i bet hed cry like a baby and hold bill ayers hand. I dont care what anyone says I think the president is stupid! The coke he snorted screwed up his brain.
I saw that yesterday too, CBS is going rogue following fox, so Axelrose had his puppet Obama declare a Natl. emergency, maybe as a reward he got a line of coke
Macs have supported multi-button mice for ages … and they now ship with two button mice.
And Firefox runs great on a Mac (Safari has become almost as annoying as IE)
Actually I'll happily switch away from Mac (Apple's getting just as evil as MS if not worse lately) as soon as Adobe ports Creative Suite to Linux … still gotta eat and no, Scribus and Gimp are nowhere near professional quality design tools.
Unfortunately greed is in Human nature. I would be using Linus if I had Adobe and a couple of other things on it.
Ubuntu Desktop
Has anyone heard of any H1N1 in Africa??? Didn't think so. Food for thought.
Is Adobe really going to do that? On FreeBSD I can run Photoshop 7 under WINE but no CS. I still rely on 'nux libraries because Adobe hates 'nix for some reason.
Gimp sucks.
I've been thinking the same thing. Suddenly he's afraid of needles. I remember "W" getting the flu shot, and maybe Tommy Thompson as hhs secretary. Get your shot, barry!! Come on kathy!! I guess b.o. would rather use the inhaler anyway
Amen brother (?)

First Daughters Not Vaccinated Against H1N1
President Obama's school age daughters have not been vaccinated against the H1N1 flu virus. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the vaccine is not available to them based on their risk.
The Centers for Disease Control recommend that children ages 6 months through 18 years of age receive a vaccination against the H1N1 flu virus. At this time only children with chronic medical conditions are receiving the vaccination because their immune system is not strong enough to fight off the strain. The CDC also says a regular seasonal flu shot does not protect against the virus.
Yes it was a new error and while I appreciate the get a MAC comment, and own 3, my work computer that gave me the error is a PC.
Given the recent rhetoric, out of D.C., on the left I thought it interesting that this suddenly popped up. I told Explorer to ignore it, after sending a note to Microsoft, wanted to see if anybody else got the same error message.

There is something amiss with these numbers. The article checks out, but as I said, my whole family has had it and only one of us even took medication (my ex felt fairly miserable for several days, but has bad medicine allergies and felt it wasn't worth it). Perhaps it's because people who are hospitalized are already really sick (whether from not getting treated, or other health problems), which would make them far more likely to be fatalities. The bottom line is, if 1/4 of all the deaths of swine flu are happening in California, there is something weird going on there.
But I don't even remotely buy the conspiracy theory that people are getting it from the vaccine. Here it's blowing up as well, and we don't have any vaccine yet (it's only available to those most at risk for complications).
A shortage in swine flu vaccine? How absolutely inept of Pres. Opompous….apparently he can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. This guy is incapable of doing anything productlve. He is way out of his league in this job. Nothing is more certain than that….elect an ape to do a human’s job!
I love that sign guy. He's "totally awesome" in 1980s speak.
My friend's daughter had H1N1. She described how there's a shortage of tamiflu — I'm not sure if it's effective for H1N1. Her daughter got better fast. The worst symptom was the unusual juicy cough, but that's abating.
Excellent signage,Mark OKeefe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 8, Media theories certainly do change. In light of ABC’s aggressive promotion of the danger of global warming and the liberal solutions the network has embraced, I thought it might be a good idea to consider the ‘70s-era threat of global cooling.
My parents recently unearthed a time capsule that they created in 1977 for the birth of my sister Kimberly. Included in the assorted memorabilia of the time was a March '77 edition of Readers Digest. An article by Samuel W. Matthews, entitled "What’s Happening To Our Climate," wondered whether "we are entering another ice age?" Additionally, a graph showing the Earth’s cooling and warming throughout history is accompanied by this ominous caption [All emphasis added]:
"This chart illustrates the dominant fact about Earth's past climate: It was colder….Over the last century, air temperatures have ranged from somewhat above today’s mean, resulting in an abnormally warm and beneficent climate. Is this unusual cycle coming to an end? Does an icy future loom ahead? Nobody knows for sure."
Story Continues Below Ad ↓
Abnormally warm and beneficent climate? Could global warming save us from an ice age?
Early in the article, which is actually condensed from a November 1976 National Geographic, Matthews noted an overall global climate drop that began in 1940:
"What is going on with the climate? Since 1940, there has been a distinct drop, about half a degree Fahrenheit, in average global temperature. That seems small, but it has caused significant changes. England’s annual growing season, for example, shrank by nine or ten days between 1950 and 1966. In the northern tier of the U.S. Midwest, summer frosts again occasionally damage crops. Sea ice has returned to Iceland’s coasts after more than 40 years of virtual absence. Glaciers in Alaska and Scandinavia begun advancing again. Yet, oddly, in the eastern United States, western Soviet Union, and much of Europe, the winters of 1973 through 1975 were the warmest in decades."
Much of the piece seems to view any (possibly) man-made warming, such as temperature increases mentioned in the last sentence of the above excerpt, as a good sign, something that might prevent the coming ice age. Later on, Matthews discussed how the (then) coming cooling would affect the beneficial warming that had been occurring:
"The climatic trend changed once again around the mid-19th century. The northern temperate zone grew markedly warmer; indeed, the century from 1875 to 1975 is now regarded by some as one of the warmest in 4000 years. In this time the industrial age boomed, and world population more than doubled. Farming and fishing expanded to keep up with food needs; Canada’s wheat line inched a hundred miles north. But this period of climate, which our grandfathers and fathers came to regard as normal, is now recognized by scientists to have been abnormally warm and beneficent. What will happen to our food output if there is a return to the more truly normal, cooler climate? Are we now at the end of a cycle?"
So, perhaps those readers who have young children, or are about to be parents, should place the current issue of Newsweek in a time capsule for their children. Then, when these youngsters come of age (and might perhaps be dealing again with global cooling), they can learn how the media spun global warming.
Maybe because the people that go to the hospital are the ones who have it bad, or in conjuntion with something else that worsens their symptoms…
God forbid out POTUS would get H1N1… He better get the shot!
Our toddler got Flu A (swine flu) late last month -landing him in the hospital for 4 days due to the side effects of the swine flu: high fever, multiple infections, and pre-pneumonia. He is healthy boy with no chronic health issues. It terrified us!
My husband and I felt sick for about 2 days with flu like symptom (most likely did get it), but it never "knocked" us down.
He's bounced back, just as healthy as before, but with a new vocabulary (hospital, doctors, nurses, etc).
All that said, we (husband and I) do not plan to get the H1N1 vaccine; nor one of our son.
That's terrible – but funny! ha
I believe you are correct. One of our nurses recommended we keep our left-over Tamiflu bottle (after our toddler had swine flu late last month) – saying something to the effect that there will be a shortage very soon.
Could have been just a precaution, though.
Exactly! Bravo, Mr. O'Keefe!! Think, folks. If government health care goes through, how easy it would be for the government to control everyone by withholding medication!
Big Government and Big Pharma up to thier old tricks…create a state of panic and then make billions of dollars in profits off of everyone who freaks out whenever the state run media says "it's time to freak out".
