‘The Nation’ Editors to Release Look-a-Like ‘Going Rogue’ Hit-Piece On Same Day as Palin’s Book Launch

We know that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can hunt, and even field-dress a moose, but how will she take to poachers on her book sales? Start-up publisher OR Books has announced plans to publish Going Rouge: Sarah Palin An American Nightmare, a collection of essays about the maverick Republican with a title — and cover design — remarkably similar to Palin’s upcoming memoir. What’s more, OR’s paperback tome will be released on Nov. 17, the same day that Palin’s own Going Rogue: An American Life hits shelves — and one day after Palin’s just-announced, first-ever appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show. (A shout-out to Ron Hogan at GalleyCat for the tip.)
Going Rouge is compiled by Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, two top editors of the left-leaning weekly The Nation, and includes essays by Nation regulars like Katrina vanden Heuvel, Naomi Klein, and Katha Pollitt. It’s the first release from OR Books, a fledgling outfit founded earlier this year by publishing veterans John Oakes and Colin Robinson that “embraces progressive change in politics, culture and the way we do business,” according to its website.
The Nation, the self-proclaimed “flagship of the left,” has been in circulation for nearly 150 years, making it America’s oldest political weekly.

This is really pathetic. Surely this will be sold on Amazon, but I doubt the publishers will be able to get many stores to carry this book. I'm also curious about the legality of publishing a book that has a misleading title and cover that is intended to trick some consumers into purchasing it on accident. There will definitely be some old people who will buy this book thinking it was Palin's, and that seems really sh*tty to me.

If a person walked into a store and saw this book without the real one there it is likely that this one would be bought by mistake. She should sue to at least force them to change the cover let alone remove her image.

Part of me thinks that Sarah Palin becoming the next president is inevitable. I have been of legal voting age since Bob Dole ran… and in all this time I have never seen such an intense focus from the left on a potential republican nominee. The closest thing I can think of is the focus on Newt Gingrich… but as much as I respect him, he is not the galvanizing force that Palin is.
They fear her for a good reason. This is a cheap, low-class trick they are pulling on her, but the silver lining is that it's clear the left is TERRIFIED (bold, italics, underlined) of this woman.

Exactly. If she's a joke and no one takes her seriously, why is it of such great importance that they stamp her out? Can't they just let her go on speaking (and, by their judgment, putting her foot in her mouth)? …No, I know what it is: the Left are afraid that Palin is arousing a "false consciousness" in the minds of her flyover followers. She presents no danger in and of herself, but the ideas she espouses are so poisonous and so reactionary that the Left must grind her into the dirt — if they don't, they're taking a risk that people will continue to listen to and understand her message.

Go to their website and look at the picture of the publishers. Do you recognize them? Yep… they're the guys who perpetually got beaten up in high school. Of course they are threatened by a woman who hunts and can field dress a moose. I'm sure their previous books have sold literally hundreds of copies, so they are undoubtedly in need of a quick buck. And since every high school in the country has a whipping-boy or two, they will probably find a market.
On the other hand, I can't help thinking that this Oprah appearance is a set-up. Part of me thinks that no one would be so low class as to pull something like that – but then I see this book and I know that it is a possibility. I have to admit that I am secretly wishing that Oprah will ask Sarah Palin how she feels about the constant ridicule from Letterman. And Palin will ask Oprah how she felt when Letterman said that she looked like Mrs. Butterworth. As I recall, she was a lot less gracious than Sarah Palin has been.

It is interesting to me that they criticize her primarily for her personal life rather than her policies. Although, I think her family resembles many families in this country. She has faced her children making choices good and bad…just like the rest of us. The liberals must be very afraid of her or they wouldn't go to the trouble to do such a childish thing.
