Powerful Coalition of Clergy, Community, Labor Leaders to Hold Press Conference Denouncing Attacks on ACORN and Other Organizations Working for Change
A powerful new coalition of educators, clergy, civic, labor, and other leaders, “Communities Standing Together” – will hold an important press conference to denounce the recent slew of smear campaigns, factual distortions, and ugly attacks on ACORN and other organizations and individuals working for justice.
The press conference will take place at the home of Tommy and Debora Beard in Watts, longtime residents who saved their home of 24 years from foreclosure by organizing with ACORN. Civic leaders will denounce the attacks on ACORN and others – attacks that are clearly part of a broader coordinated effort to weaken the power of diverse groups working to level the playing field in America. As unemployment, foreclosures, and other problems continue to rise, community, faith, labor, and other leaders are standing together to restore the issues that matter to Americans, and to proclaim, “We will not be divided.”
Coalition members and event participants do not condone the behavior of several ACORN employees seen on videotapes circulated recently, but know that the value and vital contributions that ACORN makes toward improving the lives of working families is much greater than the unprofessional acts of a few individuals.

To the unions and churches that are allying themselves with ACORN –
Do you realize how much you are discrediting your cause? Do you really believe the only way to strive for the betterment of disadvantaged people is through corruption and encouragement of criminal behavior? That is what you are proclaiming when you lend your support to ACORN.
It makes us wonder: Maybe your "cause" isn't the real motivation for your actions. Maybe you are just as deceitful and corrupt as ACORN.

I think we should all meet at my house to protest the fact that my home values haved dropped by some 20-30% because of all the foreclosures where the losers should not have goten loans in the first place!! Also, did they mention how many times the couple pulled equity out of their home to support their spending habits. It seems to me that after 24 years that home should have been closed to have been paid off and they loan payment should have been close to nothing!

ACORN&SEIU, are like “syblings.” Both should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law. I’m calling on ALL SEIU members-drop your memberships. Even, if you still have to pay association fees. Show these articles to your employer-maybe you can get a re-vote, to vote these thugs out. I’m personally disgusted, because I had no idea as a former SEIU member how these thugs abuse the legal system to get their way. ALL SEIU member dues should be put in escrow till a complete investigation is done.
