Carville: Conservatives Are From Outer Space (More or Less)

Are you, by chance, a conservative? A Republican? Did you vote for John McCain last November, as well as the GOP candidate in your local congressional race?
If your answer to these question is yes, then you are very, very strange — and perhaps not even fully American. At the very least, you’re not one of the rest of us.
If you don’t believe it, just read “The Very Separate World of Conservative Republicans,” a new report by Democracy Corps, the political research firm run by Democratic operatives James Carville and Stanley Greenberg.
“The self-identifying conservative Republicans who make up the base of the Republican Party stand a world apart from the rest of America,” write Carville and Greenberg. Conservative Republicans, according to the Democracy Corps research, don’t trust Barack Obama; are scared by the speed with which the president and Democrats in Congress are attempting to enact new programs; don’t like government takeovers of business; and believe that many of their fellow Americans don’t fully appreciate the threat posed by the Democratic agenda.
You might think those are entirely reasonable reactions to the Obama presidency, or are at least within the mainstream of American political debate. But Carville and Greenberg say those beliefs “are not part of the continuum leading to the center of the electorate.” If you hold them, you “truly stand apart.

Read the entire report. It's great propaganda, that is if you are an "ET looking like little gecko" that Cowboy Logic so aptly termed. Seriously, take the time to read the report. It's enlightening and gives one a very clear perspective on the gecko's and Greenbergs future talking points. It also give you great perspective on where they think the left is at. For us junkies, it provides lots of insight into their formulation of communication strategy. They will now glean info from the focus group participants, draft and re-draft questions and then test via polling. Then we'll be hearing all of the talking heads spinning their new spew making conservatives the bad guy while the progressives are painted as the good guy. Stay tuned.

I don't consider myself a "conservative republican", but that pretty much sums up my feelings. Why wouldn't anyone but a lefty progressive/Mao loving communist not be scared by this?

Maybe the reason this study says conservatives "stand apart" from the mainstream is that you guys take shoddy journalism like the above at face value.

Things are intensifying to a fevor pitch in this Country. Everyone feels it, and is on edge. It will only take one spark. The jury is out on whether it will be another Ruby Ridge, or Waco. The Bible is the absolute word of God. Reading and being obedient to it a person will find the path in life that God desires for each to have. Someone that does not have a relationship with Jesus has a dead spirit and can not understand the ways of God because the ways of God are spiritually discerned. The liberal does not understand the ways of God because they have a dead spirit and therefore can not understand them. If they read and study the Bible it will come to them.
