Breaking: NY County GOP Chairman Writes Off Scozzafava

In an exclusive interview with the TCOT Report, George Joseph, Republican Party Chairman of Oneida County, one of the eleven counties in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, today slammed Republican Party nominee Dede Scozzafava. This damaging news comes on the heels of Scozzafava’s ill advised attempt to intimidate a reporter from the Weekly Standard by calling the cops on him after he asked persistent questions about her position on card check legislation at a meeting held last night in Lowville, New York. Lowville is located in Lewis County, immediately to the north of Oneida County.
According to Joseph
“ I wasn’t sold on Dede from the beginning. That race represents 8% of Oneida County. Throughout the nomination process, I would have thought there would have been more sensitivity, in light of what happened with Tedisco in NY 20, who was the annointed front runner. [Republican Tedisco was defeated in a special election for an open Congresssional seat earlier this year]. Just with [Dede] coming out of Albany — any legislator in Albany is so tarnished why would we nominate them ? We acted very tone deaf in how we selected this nominee.”
Joseph also took a shot at Clinton County Chairman and Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, who threw the nomination to Scozzafava despite the fact that the majority of the Clinton County committee members who attended a candidate forum voted for the ideologically conservative Paul Maroun, and not for the ideologically liberal Scozzafava.
“I would be as much offended if I was a resident or committee person of that county. This process, that started in an honorable fashion has turned into a tainted runaway election.”
Joseph conceded that because of this, Scozzafava is almost certain to lose the election.

Scozzafava nomination was always about ensuring a Democratic win. It shows how badly infiltrated the Republican party has become. We have a lot of work ahead to get the Republican party back out of the Democrats hands. Democrats run the Republican Party and here is proof positive. Democrats run the NRCC. Now we are starting to see what a RINO truly is.

I notice that Mr. Joseph was not terribly happy with the Conservative Party either. And there he has a problem. I don't expect the GOP to be beholden to a third party, but he needs to be realistic about his alliances. And if the Republican Party is going to nominate a de facto Democrat, they are going to lose their natural partner. And if he, as a Party official has that much of a problem with his Party's candidate, imagine how Conservatives must feel. A note to Mr. Joseph: If you want Republican candidates to continue receiving the support of the Conservative Party, put forward candidates who are palatable to them. If your party doesn't care about Conservatives, then stop caring so much about Conservatives.
If you love the Repulican party, then don't vote for this RINO.
Finally Scozzafava has been exposed. These people are a gift to the dems!
Hi all. I'd suggest that this is a good sign. If this Mr. Joseph is serious about this he could start the process of reform within the republican party. If another county seat chairman agrees with this then it may give heart to others to finally get together and vote out these rino's who are running the party. This should be especially embarrassing to Steele as I gather he was elected because he was suppose to be a real conservative.
Janet Duprey especially should be thrown out on her ass for disregarding the desires of her constituents (you know, the one's she is supposed to represent). Frankly, I wonder why this hasn't been done already or at least the process being started.
If this continues (running squishy conservatives) then I'd start to get worried about major vote splitting in 2010 costing conservatives the chance of regaining the House and with it, the chance of slowing down or stopping the decay that Obama is bringing to the US. Don't think that the democrats aren't looking at this situation and trying to work out how they can exploit it. Emanual, Carville and the others may be bottom feeding, dirt eating, rat b*stards but they aren't stupid.

Ya, I am not to shocked either. What I am shocked about is my lack of seeing this video.
This is a positive development, but it's mixed because by blaming the Conservative party, Joseph is shooting the messenger. Would he honestly have come out and attacked Dede's position as a candidate if he hadn't felt that the political climate was right to do so? Wouldn't that climate have been much different if not for the strong pushback of conservatives and Hoffman's supporters? He asks what will happen with the Conservative-Republican relationship if Hoffman does manage to win. The answer is obvious; whether Hoffman wins or loses, the RNC will have to start paying a little more attention to those tea party folks and their demands for fiscal responsibility, especially since many tea partiers identify as independents and therefore represent votes in play. Dede will lose this for sure now, as she deserves to. Between her and Owens we're better off with Owens anyway, because at least in a 60% Republican district he'll have to fight for reelection instead of riding the coattails of his own incumbency.
I have said on other sites, starve the beast- do not donate to any Republican party. Give to a specific candidate. That way, you choose who gets the money. Starve the beast!

Sorry, but, I'm not buying George Joseph's backpeddling mea culpa. What he is basically saying is that Janet Duprey, a GOP county chairperson, "threw", whatever that means, the nomination to Scozzafava while he and the rest of the lemmings capitulated against their better judgement. It sounds like weasel words to me. He's simply trying to save his own skin.

Obama had Larry Sinclair thrown into jail. I believe that this was done in Delaware, so guess who pulled strings there; the first two guess don't count.

Honesty? How do you know the guy is lying? It didn't seem to be a vulgar video, the guy looked like he was just speaking out about what happened between him and Obama. I wasn't there so I don't know if it is true or not. Where you there?

Did it today, after I read Newt Gingrich's nauseating admonishment to Republicans on National Review's Corner blog today. Basically, he told us that we should shut up and fall in line. The pros know best after all, and they seem to think that conservatives can't win in this district.
I am an American who lives his life to the best of his ability. You can call it what you want. I believe labeling people is just as racist as the media playing the race card. I don't care if you are conservative, liberal or otherwise. People are equal in my eyes until proved otherwise.
I do believe I posted on that video that I was unsure of the legitimacy of the video, but I will not cover my eyes, and refuse to watch it!
