I am utterly disgusted.

Barack Obama has not accomplished anything. There has been a lot of fine words about a “nuclear-free” future and groveling and scraping to our countries enemies and mealy-mouthed apologizing. In fact, in the interest of “peace,” he has weakened this country’s defense (i.e., defense spending cuts; scrapping the European component of the missile defense shield; banning “harsh” interrogation). Evidently, what the world wants is a weaker United States – because they assume it is a bigger piece of the pie for them.

Further, the deadline for nomination of candidates is February 1st (http://nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/process.ht... That means Obama was nominated two weeks after he was put in office – when he seriously had done nothing. I’ve never heard of anybody being nominated for what it was hoped they would do. WTF?

Next up for Obama, a 2010 Academy Award. For a movie he’ll be making in 2011.

My first thought this morning when I read that Obama had won the Peace Prize was “This can’t be right… is Drudge getting stories off The Onion now?”

Is this the best person the Nobel Committee to win their Peace Prize?! A president who has been in office nine months and has very few accomplishments to speak of? There are thousands of people who are better qualified for this award. The problem is Barack Obama isn't one of them. Why is the Nobel Committee so determined to demean it's most prestigious award? Obama didn't win this because he is loved or respected by the Nobel Committee. I work 3rd shift, and this was the news that greeted me when I got home this morning.

I laughed. Hysterically.

Not so much at Obama's having received the award, but at the whole Nobel farce itself. But who has taken the Nobel Committee seriously since Yassir Arafat received the award, anyway?

So, I went to bed – still laughing.

And I dreamed.

I dreamed that I was in Oslo for the actual Nobel Award ceremony, and all the really peaceful people were there – Hu Jia, who was jailed for protesting China's human rights record; Greg Mortenson, who has devoted himself to bringing educational opportunities to children in South Asia at great peril to himself – and all the rest of the worthy nominees.

Onstage there was a long table – the Table of Honor, at which sat all the major Hypocrites – Jimmy Carter, Robert Mugabe, Algore, Mahmud Ahmedinejad, a couple of Saudi princes, and, this being a dream, Arafat himself. And Idi Amin, I think.

And sitting next to me was the Dalai Lama himself. It was hard to know what the guy thought of all the hoopla – he's always got this inscrutable, beatific smile on his puss, like he's just released a deadly fart or something. (He didn't – I was sitting close enough that I'd know).

Anyway, after they had dispensed with all the preliminary gibberish, they call up The One to accept His prize.

And as He's starting His speech, there is a clamor from the audience, as someone from the front row jumps up on the stage, rushing towards the Obamassiah.

The security guards (who had long since fallen asleep), were not even aware of this dangerous situation.

When I heard this morning I was at first astonished and then disgusted. But now you there’s been two good things in this for me. One is that I got to see that SNL clip from last Saturday. I’d missed it and it’s hilarious – and all too true. So far Obama has accomplished zilch. The second good thing for me though is that I’ve been seeing things again and again reminding me of the many, many men and women who truly deserve recognition in Oslo; including those who did gain past recognition in winning Peace Prizes. Even when I’m left shaking my head in wonder at Obama’s win, I’m reminded of men like Lech Walesa who not only one this prize but actually did something to deserve it. So despite the insanity of Obama’s win I can still be grateful for the really deserving of this old world.

When I heard about this on the radio yesterday, I kept waiting for the punch-line. While it's true the Nobel has lost all semblance of meaning (sort of comparable to some trinket you might get with fifty cents and a Wheaties box top), until now the "honorees" have done something. Something dreadful in some cases, but what the hay, at least they've done something.

But as nuts as it is, this one really can't be fairly pinned on the President. Yes, he could have declined to accept it, but that would also have drawn criticism. And, he did handle it pretty well, quoting his daughter's reminder of the dog's birthday and earmarking the cash award for a charitable contribution (as long as the charity isn't ACORN or associates).

It seems pretty clear (to me at least) that Obama was awarded the Nobel for not being President Bush. Well, I remember well how unfairly the weasles treated President Bush. Thank God we're not like those sub-normals.

Also, emailing (or better yet, calling) your congressperson can actually be very effective. Especially now that we are "awake", and there are so many of us doing more than just complaining.

I'm 50, and until fairly recently believed that contacting one's representative was mostly futile. But with this healthcare debate, and all the townhall mayhem, I was inspired to call (and email) my congressman. Of course, in both instances I received boilerplate answers. But then I heard on the news that many congressional phonelines and email accounts had become swamped – overwhelmed by the responses of citizens just like myself. So, really – it's not so much WHAT you say (although it's important to be clear what side of an issue you're on). You're message is probably not even going to be seen or heard by your rep. But EVERYBODY hears about it when so many people call or email that the congressional systems overload.

Keep the faith, bud.

I'm also semi-retired KD. It is hard work to be ever vigilant against what seems to be a never ending onslot of progressive BS. That "all I find is people saying the same thing using different words" might not seem in and of itself important in the fight, it is a crucial component. We are connecting, forming networks, creating websites.

My wife and I had never taken part in any demonstration or protest before the last 6 months. Now we have carried signs and been to two tea-partys and the DC march, created our own bumper-stickers and lost count of emails and petitions to elected officials. We have had conversations with perfect strangers. Recently as we drove through San Francisco (with our 'OBAMADNESS' bumper-sticker) we had drivers next to us giving thumbs up. Enough single snowflakes can blanket the landscape and have a great impact. Each email, sticker,phone call,conversation,donation, and at the end vote, has an effect.

We will never be given our due by the main street media, but people are taking notice. I have seen an astonishing increase in conservative letter writers to our local newspaper. Keep up the good fight !

The Nobel "Good Intentions" Award

Meanwhile back at the ranch my house is worth $38 the guy who wants to buy it can't get a loan for $38 I've been jobless since the end of April,unemploment is at 10% so says the MSM, so the truth is probably closer to 20%. So I guess it makes since, the elitist socialist Nobel Prize commity could not be more happy about the destruction of the American middle class, they know it means the destruction of America its self.

Obama hasn't accomplished anything. What's stopping him? We support our country and our president even though we may not agree with him, don't we? Don't we want our country to be great again? Don't we want to regain the respect of the rest of the world like we once had?

He has accomplished too much and none of it good. Every single thing and every single dime has gone in payback to the ones who got him to the party. Unions and Lawyers are the only common denominator in every bill. And YES we do want our country to be great again but I care little for respect from tyrants and the only ones in foriegn countries that hated Bush were the left in their media. The average person in many of the countries who are presumed to hate us actually have very high regard for the USA and the sacrifices we have made in the last 100 years. Trouble is that they , like us were the silent majority. The one great shining accomplishment that Obama has made is to bring out the silent majority and we will be SILENT NO MORE.

Nobel Prize Committee is an advocate of affirmative action then? That's the only reason I could see behind it. Oh and the fact that since he despises the United States of America other countries see that as good and deserving of an award. The evil in this world is now celebrated while the good is punished and oppressed.

Whoever didn't already take the Nobel Idiot Prize seriously, doesn't now.

These may seem like radical left wing ideas,,,but hear me out
1. Legalize all abortions and use federal tax dollars to pay for them and make them available 'on-demand' for registered Democrats ONLY
2. Forced Sterilization of every member of all 3rd generation welfare families
3. Provide a timeline and exit strategy for the longest and most destructive war this country has had to endure, End the war on poverty or get a strategy in place for winning it.
4. Secure the border because if ideas 1 & 2 work, the only way dems can keep up their numbers is by recruiting or importing new victims.
5. Require the EPA to perform detailed Economic Impact Analysis prior to enacting or enforcing any dictate from the EPA.
6. Everyone who supports open borders should be required to remove or disable the locks on the doors to their homes and be further required to allow entrance to anyone who comes to their door at any time for any reason. If they fail to do this then the doors should be removed altogether.

Dang, I wish they invited Kanye. "Mr. President, I like your policies and all but Greg Mortensen really deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, I'm just saying".

I've also heard that Obama is the dark horse contender for the Heisman.

I am appalled that this useless man has won anything.

George Bush entered his first four years as a president committed to helping the economy. An attack upon the USA retrained his focus to military actions by necessity.
