Any chance this is like the Roman Polanski thing? He picks up the award and they slap on the cuffs? Just asking….
I am utterly disgusted.
Barack Obama has not accomplished anything. There has been a lot of fine words about a “nuclear-free” future and groveling and scraping to our countries enemies and mealy-mouthed apologizing. In fact, in the interest of “peace,” he has weakened this country’s defense (i.e., defense spending cuts; scrapping the European component of the missile defense shield; banning “harsh” interrogation). Evidently, what the world wants is a weaker United States – because they assume it is a bigger piece of the pie for them.
Further, the deadline for nomination of candidates is February 1st (http://nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/process.ht... That means Obama was nominated two weeks after he was put in office – when he seriously had done nothing. I’ve never heard of anybody being nominated for what it was hoped they would do. WTF?

Next up for Obama, a 2010 Academy Award. For a movie he’ll be making in 2011.
My first thought this morning when I read that Obama had won the Peace Prize was “This can’t be right… is Drudge getting stories off The Onion now?”
Thsi is more a condemnation of The Committee than of the President. But do think this. The cutoff for nominations was back in February. Not even once month after he was in office.
The Nobel people have just destroyed and already faltering award. It is a total sham now.

Gore, now Obama. Please. Could this Nobel Peace Prize be about results and not just intent. I'm sure a lot of people could use the same peace rhetoric as this president, but where are the outcomes of his courageous stand? Too early? Exactly.
Funny, when it comes to the economy, healthcare or immigration, it's too soon to expect results. But, yet, he had a enough time to earn a Nobel Peace Prize? Where? How? Oh, because he "thinks" and "speaks" how nice it would be, that's enough.

A man without a single accomplishment wins the presidency, a president without a single accomplishment wins the Nobel Peace Prize. I expect the Catholic Church to announce his saint hood any day now. Well, all I know is there are A LOT of Americans who feel NO peace with Obama in office. We are out of work. We are losing our retirements. We are being harrassed by our leaders and union thugs for exercising our right to freedom of speech and to peaceably assemble against more gov't encroachment.

I think this Nobel Peace Prize is a consolation prize, for loosing the Special Olympics.
WTF….I mean he weaken the defense of Poland and Czech Republic in favor of Russia, sided with a potential dictator in Honduras, stood silent on Iranian fraudulent elections, during the campaign favored pulling troops from Iraq even if it meant more Iraqi deaths, wants to embrace more protectionist policies reducing free trade (check out the Cato Institute on peace and free trade), guess he is in good company with Assar Arafat…But I'll give him some credit, he did green light taking out some Somali privates. I think the answer is simple.
After his crushing defeat in Copenhagen, his inability to resolve Gitmo, the beating he's taking on healthcare, his angst over whether to increase troop strength in Afghanistan, his failure to pass Cap and Trade before his pending second defeat in Copenahgen, his embarrassing progress with Iran and the mean way Netanyahu spoke to him at the U.N., the Nobel Committee decided to give him the award to boost his self esteem. A perfectly legitimate liberal reason to give someone an award.
In essence, this is a great big international hug because they thought he needed one.

I think I figured it out. If they can get Alfred Nobel's body spinning fast enough in his grave, they can harness the clean carbon-free energy to power the globe.
Gore may be even more dangerous, instead of third world countries' standard of living going up, he would stifle any progress. And when people see no progress they turn to some crazy to lead.

I think you nailed it. Like giving the slow kids in school an "A", when in reality they deserve an "F" , it helps their underdeveloped self esteem; continues to move them through the system, the teachers look good, the kids look good, the parents are happy and everyone comes out a winner.
If memory serves me right, the last U.S. President to receive the Nobel was Pres. ‘Peanut Farmer’ Carter. Maybe this can be a litmus test as to how effective a President is. The closer to the inauguration that a Nobel Peace Prize is awarded the more of a failure you are as a U.S. President.
