Is Baucus Strong-Arming Humana? FOIA Requests on the Way

Let Freedom Ring today submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding answers after The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a massive investigation into Humana’s role in influencing the healthcare reform fight. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) called for the investigation, slamming Humana for inciting fear among its beneficiaries.
The FOIA letter requests “access to and copies of all correspondence, notes, emails, faxes, telephone logs, office visit logs, records of meetings and related documents exchanged between United States Senator Max Baucus’ office and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (CMS) directly or indirectly related to a letter that Humana, Inc. sent to its Medicare Advantage policyholders suggesting that proposed health-care legislation could lower their benefits.”
“We filed the FOIA letter today to dig deeper into the possible political pressure that was applied to CMS, and what implications that could have in the middle of a pitched fight over the future of healthcare,” said Let Freedom Ring President Colin Hanna. “Our letter requires the government to provide timely and complete information that could shine some sunlight on what is driving the investigation.
“This latest effort led by Sen. Baucus is just another example of Congress not being accountable to the American people. The way this investigation came about is sketchy, and we are calling for complete transparency.
“Senator Baucus appears to be on a crusade to rush through the healthcare bill his committee crafted. We want to see if he applied improper political pressure to intimidate Humana in order to crush their dissent. As Americans, we should at the very least be able to see what is behind this,” said Mr. Hanna.

Right now, Baucus is trying to use the Congressional Budget
Office report on his bill to get enough Senators on board
for passage on Tuesday.
This is key because once two committees pass a bill, Harry
Reid can use his procedural power to merge the bills and
move his revised version (the one Obama and the Democrats
really want) directly to the Senate floor.
Heritage Foundation is reporting that Reid will replace the
text of an existing unrelated bill with his version of
ObamaCare and force a floor vote. Since his version will
be crafted behind closed doors, the public will have
little or no time to review before a Senate floor vote!
Then, Nancy Pelosi would take the same bill back to the House,
pass it quickly and send it to Obama. With blitzkrieg speed
we will have ObamaCare passed and signed into law!
But there's one catch…
The Left must get the bill through the Finance Committee on Tuesday.
We literally need to shut down the Senate between now and
Tuesday with faxes, phone calls, emails… everything we can
muster!
I want YOU to have the same information that Senators have.
Here's a link so you can download the CBO "preliminary analysis" that
Baucus is manipulating for his purposes. Once you look at it you'll
realize that the Democrats are trying to hide the fact that ObamaCare
expands government and increases taxes by HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

I understand that if health-care reform is passed tomorrow, it does not go into effect until 2013…right? So, what is the rush in adopting a new law? Why not take time to DO IT RIGHT? Take a year or two or three to develop something that will truly HELP THE PEOPLE and BE FAIR! Oh, that's right…this is not about what WE THE PEOPLE want. Thanks for the link thought about reading it then thought no need I've seen to catch a predator. Being a father of three sons i can say that when the laws of our country erode to the point where Jennings gets his way and my sons become fair game for his favorite group NAMBLA, i think the laws will also create an atmosphere where guys like Jennings become fair game for guys like me. I don’t think Jennings understands that because he has no children and does not understand what it means to be a parent. it only stands to reason that a man that supports pedophilia must have firsthand knowledge of it either from being subjected to it or practicing it himself otherwise why promulgate it if for no other reason than to justify one's own way of life? Then again I could be wrong and he is nothing more than a pervert who needs his ass beat regularly to put things into perspective for him as to how a child might feel after being molested.
The pundits say that if the Dems fail to pass healthcare they will pay for it in 2010. I bet if they pass any of the plans they have on the table now, they will pay for it in 2010. Wondering if they are wishing they would have worked harder with Republicans in the beginning of the processs because now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place and the middleclass could end up paying for it. How in the world can we evern consider covering the cost of millions of people that are here illegally before we seal the borders so that millions more can not continue to enter?

The Raucus Buacus Caucus has learned well from the thuggery of the Chicago mob.
This is great, but useless. If Charlie Rangle can stay and Black Panthers with weapons at polling places aren't punished by this Administration, then this is useless. The only ones who may get in trouble are the guys at Medicare, but they will go to work for some Soros funded outfit and be replaced by a worse zombie.
Our only hope is 2010. But even then, Republicans are wimps when it comes to PUNISHING their enemies. We need to dump the current Republican leaders (McCain) and get some guys/gals with some wrath in their genes.
The Baucus bill will impose mandates on states, businesses and individuals, place more financial burdens on taxpayers at a time when they are already overburdened, ration care for seniors, and limit freedom for everybody. It's also unconstitutional (but that will be made evident down the road) if this big government monstrosity ever passes. I cannot imagine how they could ever fix the overall damage this will do to our country. Get on the phone, fax, email, any way you can reach your rep ! This has to be stopped
