House Ethics Panel Expands Rangel Probe
by PubliusPolitico has the latest on the gathering clouds surrounding Ways and Means Committee Chair, Rep. Charlie Rangel:
Embattled Rep. Charles Rangel (N.Y.) is headed for more trouble as the House ethics committee announced Thursday it has expanded its investigation to include Rangel’s financial disclosure reports, which show hundreds of thousands of dollars in previously undeclared personal assets and income.
The growing investigation comes as Rangel continues to fight off Republican attempts to oust him from his chairmanship – the House voted largely along party lines on Wednesday to allow Rangel to keep his gavel while the ethics panel continues its months-long probe of the Harlem Democrat.
The ethics panel also disclosed Thursday that it has issued nearly 150 subpoenas as part of its year-long Rangel investigation, interviewed 34 witnesses and combed through thousands of pages of documents related to the New York Democrat’s personal finances. The vote to widen the already sprawling investigation was unanimous.
In July, Rangel quietly filed amended financial disclosure documents, going back to 2001, showing at least $600,000 in assets that he had never previously declared.

I wonder if someone could do some research regarding how long it takes Dems vs. Reps to be brought to justice. It seems like it took Jefferson (cash in the freezer) years for justice to run its course, heck, he was even reelected during the process. Stephens in Alaska was extremely quick. It would also interesting to throw race in there also for comparison to keep it all fair.

The Garafoskank has taught us to paraphrase, “this is straight up racism.” It’s not the fact that Charlie has exempted himself from paying taxes, it’s the fact that he’s black. These are reparations by other means people. So be as certain as the good Lord made little green apples, that there will be screaming “racism” from the rafters, to inoculate Rangel from any responsibility in this matter, come on 2010.
If this guy were a Republican, he would've been forced to give up his chairmanship immediately – by the Republicans. The Dems and media would, of course, be busy calling for jail time.

Office report on his bill to get enough Senators on board
for passage on Tuesday.
This is key because once two committees pass a bill, Harry
Reid can use his procedural power to merge the bills and
move his revised version (the one Obama and the Democrats
really want) directly to the Senate floor.
Heritage Foundation is reporting that Reid will replace the
text of an existing unrelated bill with his version of
ObamaCare and force a floor vote. Since his version will
be crafted behind closed doors, the public will have
little or no time to review before a Senate floor vote!
Then, Nancy Pelosi would take the same bill back to the House,
pass it quickly and send it to Obama. With blitzkrieg speed
we will have ObamaCare passed and signed into law!
But there's one catch…
The Left must get the bill through the Finance Committee on Tuesday.
We literally need to shut down the Senate between now and
Tuesday with faxes, phone calls, emails… everything we can
muster!
I want YOU to have the same information that Senators have.

I predict Charlie will find some more receipts and file another amended return, thereby extending the "investigation" until HE'S ready to quit. That's how they roll. I think we should investigate the investigators.
Quite frankly, someone needs to expand a probe in Rangle.
Ethics Committee expands the scope of things they will do nothing about. More grandstanding. Just Willie Mays' glove was where fly balls went to die, House Ethics Committee is where honest government goes to die.
I don't think the Repubs will win….not because they don't deserve it, but because the roots of Acorn have been set and from here on out, the elections will be fraudulent. Why else would Dem Congressmen not care what their consituents think? Mark my words, the Dems will still win…but the powers that be, will make it by a small margin so as not to make us "suspicious."
Why is it if any one of us owed taxes we Must Pay INTEREST and "PENALTIES". Rangle does not have to pay Interest or Penalties. Same for Geitner. I guess those who write the laws are ABOVE THE LAW! They even keep their own Health Plan while giving us Trash Care and Massive Taxes. (Won't add to the deficit makes me laugh. They just take it from US!!)
