JOHANNS, NELSON INTRODUCE BILL TO BAN FRAUDULENT ORGANIZATIONS FROM RECEIVING FEDERAL MONEY
WASHINGTON – Senators Mike Johanns and Ben Nelson today introduced a bill to cut off all federal funding for any organization whose employees have been convicted of voter fraud. The bill comes after Senator Johanns successfully barred the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), whose employees have been convicted on 70 counts of voter fraud, from receiving funding via three spending bills recently passed by the Senate.
“Senator Nelson and I strongly believe in the protection of taxpayer dollars, and this bill is a clear way of working towards that goal,” Johanns said. “Let the message be clear: Americans should not be helping to fund any organization whose employees use the money to commit fraud or any other reprehensible practices.”
“This legislation builds on actions taken to cut off federal funding for ACORN,” Nelson said. “To further protect taxpayers’ money, this bill extends that prohibition to all forms of federal assistance, and all groups who violate our election laws. And we require a report, so Congress can know exactly which organizations we need to watch out for.”
Full text of the legislation can be found here.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Now help expose the politicians involved in corruption…both Republican and Democrat!
Democrats will attach an ammendment for a public option, as this would be the only way Peolsi would let this hit the floor.
This bill falls short, looooooooppp HOLE….
The bill should cover any organization, doing any type of fraud, and any subsidiary or organization associated with said fraudulent organization..
See they are still just f..c'n with us
I am glad they kept the bill's focus narrow, aimed at election and campaign financing. To make the bill too over-reaching would only water it down so it would become ineffective.
This bill is needed and long overdue. The voting process is our voice in government and I'm tired of my money being given to activist groups that are out to silence my voice by violating the election laws.
Rep. Boehner Accuses Obama of Subverting Constitution.

Defund ACORN. They are guilty of voter fraud. Then they want to appeal, have them come to congress for hearings. I am afraid they will go to courts first to find a racist judge.
Shady undermining… liberal mantra. This would not surprise me at all. Reminds you of the "defunding ACORN" legislation that was attached to the government takeover of student loans.
All of them… garbage.
BREAKING: Republican finally defends ACORN

And a whopping 4 page legislation? 4 pages? Are you people really buying into this obvious piece of legislative BS? 4 pages? I would verify if Ben Nelson is really on board with it considering he just heard about this about 2 hours ago.
Finally – a Community Organizing Event that fosters bi-partisan unity. I feel so Hopey Changey!
Don't get too excited about the defund–what other community organizations are funded by the tax dollar that can filter back into ACORN. Some could be in name only but actually ACORN which Congress can say they "never realized" the assocition– we thought it was too improve the poor childs education etc.. This runs deep and right back too Obama I bet, its not going to be that easy of a road. They could be thowing us a crumb.
We need a bill that will not allow any federal funds to be utilized by any Comminity Organizatiom– Community Organizations are funded only through donations of Community churches and or Citizens of that Community.
You Sir, are correct!
I’d like to see some real action taken against ACORN…….put them out of business for good
Wachoo talkin' 'bout Willis???

Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago………….
I sho nuff hope they don't burn down the 'hood!
This seems like grandstanding. If they were serious they would bring ACORN and SEIU in and testify in front of congress and force them under oath to disclose the 300 + criminal organizations that they funnel money too along with the organizations that funnel money to them. The shell game must stop!
Your link doesn't work………….the message I got was : malformed URL.

Works now…many thanks!
[...] A BI-PARTISAN SENATE BILL to defund ACORN. [...]
This is all well and good, but I am still skeptical.
I wouldn't be surprised if ACORN goes away, and all the same people come back as Community Organizers to Reform America Now (CORAN), and we're right back where we started.
How did ACORN come to be getting tax money to start with? Some congressman or bureaucrat first proposed it. Who? That person is guilty of criminal negligence at least.
The broader problem here is that the federal government is funding political organizations. Defunding ACORN alone is liable to defuse the scandal without defanging the serpent.
