Wash Post: Big Foundations Defunding ACORN
by PubliusWe’ve always given at least bit of credence to the theory that the most interesting stories in the Washington Post and New York Times run on Saturday, when editors try to dump any real reporting that happens to slip through their filters. This Saturday, the Washington Post added another data point supporting this theory with decent reporting on ACORN’s troubles with its big donors:
The liberal political organizing group ACORN, battered by the release of embarrassing videos and allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud, has also been losing support from several major foundations.
The Ford Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Marguerite Casey Foundation and Bank of America have stopped funding the group and its affiliates over the past year and a half.

My guess would be that may be that some of these big foundations/businesses are glad to have a reason to dump these troublemaking leeches. Possibly the only reason they were being funded to begin with was the extortion type activities of this vile ACORN group.
The dark cloud of corruption has hung over this organization for years. One question that needs to be asked of law enforcement officials. prosecutors and Congresss is: What did you know about ACORN and how long have you known it without investigating?

I am pleased that Private foundations are de-funding ACORN but, I don't care what Private foundations do with their money. I am much more concerned with what the government does with my tax dollars, and the funding of ACORN.
ACORN is like Blackwater except without the bullet -riddled dead people. Wall to wall to coverage of a defunded ghetto organization is in no way bordering on obsessive despite what educated journalists and psychiatrist might say.
ACORN is like Blackwater except without the bullet -riddled dead people.
Have you seen the inner-city "plantations" ACORN created in Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, etc?
And Blackwater hasn't corrupted this country's very foundation of democracy–the voting booth.
Follow the money (remember the Watergate investigation team’s motto?) – I’m confident that there will be some other entity that COINCIDENTALLY starts up about now, that BY CHANCE employs many of the elite players at ACORN, and that QUICKLY qualifies for some funding.
Darn! I hate to hear that, …not!
George Soros will see to it that the elitists at acorn will be taken care of under a new name, but with the same management and style. What I want to know is when congressmen and women who refuse to give up support start losing support from the people. What does it take for eyes to open and ears to hear the outright corruption in this organization? Congressional supporters of acorn will never learn the old adage: when you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. For those who lie with dogs, you need to know that there is a reckoning on the way.
Newspapers are supposed to tell when big banks, corporations and foundations START paying extortion, not when they STOP.
Don't know if you've seen this: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/Thinkmap%20SDK... Oh, the ties that bind!
But that's hard to do when the "watchdog" media are on the extortionists side.
Yes, he will. George Soros needs to go back to Hungary. He is an American in Passport only. He is a Budaphest Jew with extremist views.
HAMM: "bullet -riddled dead people"
I'll bet money there are tons of bullet -riddled dead people around ACORN's stench.
Been to New Orleans lately?
Some of the foundations funding ACORN are very Liberal leaning and would normally have funded them and the poverty pimp groups anyway without being extorted to do so. Many foundations are just covering their backsides at this point because of the backlash ACORN is receiving. If the backlash wasn't as strong as it is, most of these foundations probably wouldn't have pulled their funding.
This is strange. I took some time and researched the information in the above post. It was all correct. All the information was good and the links worked. Now, a half hour after putting it up, all the links are dead.
I must have touched a nerve somewhere………………..
That has always baffled me as well.
All the links worked when I put them up. I double checked them. In any event, if it interestes anyone, there is enough info in the links to do you own due diligence.
They are right to dump them, because if they dont it could severely affect them as well. Knowing that they were associated with ACON.
Ban ACON and send the Rathke brothers to prison for life!!!
More proof they are watching BigGovernment. It is not surprising, not much surprises me anymore. Maybe we should post links by typing them out and spelling "dot" instead of using a "." as in "dot com" at least someone would have to read the post instead of just seeing a link.

I personally wrote the Ford Foundation, over a year ago, questioning their practice of funding ACORN. There are too many legitimate organizations, funding illigetimate ones through grants. Personally, I think every organization that receives TARP money, bailout funds or government subsidies from taxpayer dollars should be highly scrutinized. They are hypocritical relationships.

From the Shanker Institute web page:
Randi Weingarten
Randi Weingarten, elected president of the American Federation of Teachers in 2008, has been president of the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), which represents more than 140,000 active and retired educators in the New York City public school system, since 1998. She is also a board member of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and a member of the AFT Executive Committee. A vice president of the New York City Central Labor Council of the AFL-CIO, she heads the city Municipal Labor Committee, an umbrella organization for some 100 city employee unions. Weingarten serves on a number of boards, including the New York Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH); the Anti-Defamation League, New York Region; the United Way of Greater New York; The International Rescue Committee; and the newly formed Math for America. She is also on the advisory boards of Operation Public Education at the University of Pennsylvania and the Haan Foundation for Children.
Wow. What an intriguing comparison. Blackwater=ACORN. Lets see, an American mercenary group, contracted to do deadly tasks our military used to do, now freeing them up to fight real bad guys. And an organization founded for the very purpose of destroying our Republic by bleeding the country dry, all the while utilizing illegal means to do it. They are equal in your mind. Sort of like you being a worthless malcontent begging for attention, all they while screaming to everyone how smart you are. Open your eyes around noon. That's DAY. Then at midnight, go out and look at the moon. That's NIGHT. Can you tell the difference now?
The wheels on the bus go thump, thump, thump………

If one reads the above article several time, to let it sink in and digest it, connecting the threads, the bottom line is: Barney Frank created the economic crisis. ACORN, CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; they are all mentioned, and laid out in black and white………..
"Bush administration’s efforts to reform Fannie and Freddie were opposed by congressional Democrats – specifically Frank and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, D-Conn."
I just don't get why so many Jews like Soros would support the very people who would put them up against the wall first when the revolution comes. The Soviets didn't like the Jews much more than the Nazis did.
I agree totally. A lot of these foundations and businesses had a gun to their head…so to speak!
Follow this logic:
The Annenbeg Foundation has been a large supporter of ACORN, Rathke, Clinton, Ayers and Obama. Here is an interesting link listing co-conspirators.
<a href="http://raymondpronk.wordpress.com/2008/10/05/obam…” target=”_blank”>http://raymondpronk.wordpress.com/2008/10/05/obam…
Remember yesterday, the Big Government link of the second Bertha Lewis video, where Ol' Dirty Bertie talks about her "sista from another mista" Randi Weingarten? Check out Randi:
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randi_Weingarten” target=”_blank”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randi_Weingarten
Sweet Randi is also on the Board of the Albert Shanker Institute:
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Shanker_Insti…” target=”_blank”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Shanker_Insti…
Now look at the Annenberg Foundation, and you will see several Weingartens as Trustees. Kin? Kissin' cousins? I do not know, but it bears further scrutiny. It is a tangled web of deception.
<a href="http://www.annenbergfoundation.org/about/” target=”_blank”>http://www.annenbergfoundation.org/about/
cowboy, to me it looks like your links are bad. There is a bunch of /a's at the end of each link when you try to go to it. And the links with "…" at the end actually try to go to a address with "…" at the end instead of the whole address.
Why do we think that Congress would investigate ACORN? More than likely, everyone of these people (right up to the top) have taken money from them at one point or another. Why else would they not want to investigate? The Almighty $$$ is such a corrupting influence. Now that Mr. Rathke, the ACORN Founder, has retired from the main organization, he has retained a position with one of the spin offs & is going International. No telling who he will team up with next (probably the Devil himself if it would bring another $ and more power in).
Here is something from a 2008 Report:
ACORN, as a private organization, is not required to publicize its activities, donors, expenditures, members, or myriad of front organizations. ACORN is a membership organization with an estimated 175,000 member families in the United States and up to 500,000 member families worldwide paying at least $120 per year. With a budget of $100 million or more, ACORN employs about a thousand people. Money flows in to ACORN coffers from the federal government, including the present Bush Administration, and from such foundations as Heinz, Annie E. Casey, Open Society Institute, Ben and Jerry’s, as well as from the Woods Foundation and the Joyce Foundation, on whose boards Obama sat in Chicago.
Now this is simple, something everyone can understand, and put their teeth into, a product we use everyday: Heinz Ketchup. If a boycott was started against Heinze, it wouldn't take Crazy ol Teresa long to jerk John Kerry by the ears, and start a formal investigation. If Heinz funds ACORN, why should America buy Heinz products?
Well cowboy, I stopped buying Hienz ketchup years ago, in fact, I've been more careful what brands I buy now. Why should I support a company that's antithetical to the things I believe in. That isn't where the real money is. How does having your hands on a part of ten trillion, over the next few years. Why do you think congresspersons are so willing to spend whatever it takes to keep their jobs? It's not the salary or even the benefits, god knows they aint bad, it's the wealth one can build up over 20 or 30 years in congress. We need to clean house next year and start over with all new ones. I say vote em all out in 10. If we the people don't send a clear message next year and throw the entire congress, house and senate, out and replace them with new people. As for the new people we send to serve us, let them know up front that this job could be temporary.
Mixed emotions on term limits in the past. Now it looks very useful.
Interesting little tidbit on Homo Barney Frank, his love connection to Fannie Mae and the ACORN scamoramo…
<a href="http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications…” target=”_blank”>http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications…
Apparently, Ol' Barney has always taken a Pro-Fanny stance………..
Brace yourselves, more to come.
My bet is that sooner or later, ACORN will announce that it is out of business and soon after THAT they will appear with the same people under another name. Then they will go around strong arming business' for money and will start getting taxpayer funds again. Watch and see!
"The Ford Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Marguerite Casey Foundation"
Read the above out loud, in a mellifluous, radio-y voice. If it sounds familiar, that's because its the underwriting credits for NPR's "All Things Considered" or "Morning Edition." And you wonder why the've been making excuses for ACORN–they've all got the same "sponsors," along with us mere taxpayers.
So the lefty leeches who’ve taken over the administration of these big foundations are cutting their goons loose…
The federal government should slap a 100% retroactive estate tax on the Ford, Casey and Mott benefactors' causa mortis charitable gifts and apply the booty to a new Medicaid program for the addiction rehabilitation treatment of trust fund babies.
I still remain amazed and impressed by this organization being taken down by a couple in their early twenties in bad halloween costumes.
It's about time, people. Demand that your elected representative pass HR3571 defunding ACORN now. http://spritelywatchdog.blogspot.com/2009/10/hr-3...
Big money equals stupid money
Why were these guys even funding acorn in the past. were they strong armed into it or just fools with money to burn?
