The best part was the ridiculously expensive celebratory party Daily set up downtown. After the announcement it was just camera crews filming stunned people wasting hundreds of thousands (or more) of taxpayer money. On the bright side, more than half of Chicago just breathed a sigh of relief.
On an unrelated note, the reports of Daily retiring after this term to travel with his wife have nothing to do with the hundreds of millions lost that the unions were planning on getting. Absolutely nothing. Move along.

It really is sad when we (myself included) take such pleasure in one of our cities' disappointment. I can't imagine having thought that way when LA or Atlanta was awarded the Games. I think it shows what rank amateurs we have in the White House. Out of their league in so many ways.

I fell alseep last night watching Scooby Doo on Boomerang, and awoke at 2 a.m. Picked up a book, put it down, had a drink of water, picked up another book, turned on the T.V., flicked to Fox…lo and behold *breaking news*, Obama, mmmm, mmmmm, mmmmmm live from Denmark.
The President of the United States, using his office, cap-in-hand, begging, the corrupt and corrupting IOC to help him leverage money into his friends bank accounts (a sacrifice for the children, naturalment) was even more shameful and demeaning of the office than "I did not have a jelly donut with that woman". I began to shake I'm afraid, you know, eyes stinging type of thing. What's next, bowing to a Wahabist King? Pffft. Oh, er.
