**UPDATE** Politico: NBC Vehemently Denies Allegations Over Anti-Semitic Email
by PubliusNBC News president Steve Capus fired back at Americans for Limited Government Friday, after the conservative group published an email allegedly from NBC producer Jane Stone to its director of media outreach Alex Rosenwald, with one line: “Bite me Jew Boy.”
“I’m still in shock, and outraged that this reckless organization would go out with such a defamatory, irresponsible statement,” Capus told POLITICO. “We have done a complete email analysis, all of our IT, all of our records.”
Here’s what both sides agree on: Stone responded yesterday to a mass email from ALG.
But Stone’s response email—provided to POLITICO—did not have any anti-Semitic comment. In fact, it had just one line: “Take me off this list!” (There are also subtle differences, including number of dashes, between the two emails).
“Somebody, on the other end, I’m assuming, took the return stamp from the email and then put in this hateful message,” Capus said. “I don’t know who did it. It’s outrageous to suspect that somebody from NBC News would do it.”

So its outrageous to think someone at NBC could write this but its not outrageous to think someone at ALG would fake it. ALG must get thousands of nasty emails everyday, many probably much worse than this. Most would be ignored. I'd doubt they didn't double and triple check their servers before publish this accusation. Nothing to be gained by faking it.

Stone would have had to come up with the "Jew Boy" remark entirely from the from address('arosenwald@getliberty.org') since the name accompanying it on her end was 'Bill Wilson'… when she was writing the email she would have only saw arosenwald@getliberty.org… so she had to come up with jewboy only on that… that it a very jewish sounding name, but I dunno… I have my doubts… someone needs to look to see if Rosenwald is making this up… I put the chances that he is at 65%, the chances that Stone actually wrote "Jew Boy" at 35%…
Geek query: doesn't Blackberry mail go via Blackberry's own system/servers?

If there is an exchange server record the delivered the mail (yeah I know blackberry but a lot of companies setup a relay to do this stuff on site) it would be very easy to verify by internal forensics.

NBC acted stupidly.
Stop and think for a moment about who would do a fake and for what reason. Where are the deep pockets? NBC. ALG doesn't have deep pockets and they would surely know that they would be found out by the IT nerds. But Stone was responding emotionally to a load of defamatory e-mail and let it rip. If you are going to fight the giant with a slingshot you had better be a damn good shot. No one is stupid enough to fake e-mails anymore.
Anything on NBC's end will disappear in a mysterious hard drive crash.
I seriously doubt NBC has an audit trail or stores their e-mail in an honest-to-God database, so the record can be altered any way they want.
Best bet would be to study the hops the e-mail took and see if one of those points has a record of the message.
As for Blackberry's end of it, their system is unreliable to begin with. I doubt they have records that go into that amount of detail. Privacy issues, for one thing.
NBC's Jew boy story shouldn't even show up on Breitbarts Biggovernment.com. If Breitbart gets caught up in a non serious, non story, we will loose our credability.
Every person here needs to re-double your efforts, whether it be letter writing, emailing, telephoning: your friends and neighbors to get them involved; your Senators and Congressmen to let them know your opinions. If every person here could get an additional ten people involved, our ranks would swell dramatically.

Yes, I believe they do. I think there was something about a year ago where people were complaining that their servers were retaining emails and text messages. If there is a lawsuit, ALG can petition for it from Blackberry (that is, if it doesn't "magically" disappear).

Seems pretty credible, even though it’s from her blackberry they must use an enterprise server that it communicates with. It would have a copy of her blackberry e-mail.

Yes, those in I.T. are above their overlords at NBC. It comes down to this, do you believe them? Is NBC a trustworthy source of information? They control the data and there is no outside independent source that can look over their logs and check the time stamps for tampering.
I would like to see the header at the receiving end and be able to look at that. Has that been produced?

So, instead of providing all the e-mail headers so that disinterested IT people can determine the veracity of AGL's claims, Steve Campos instead chooses to accuse AGL.
It would appear that Campos is in CYA mode on the one hand, and on smear your foes on the other.

NBC is absolutely correct. Any fool can see that the email DID NOT say "Bite me, Jew Boy."
If you look at the actual email, it said "Bite me Jew boy!" Obviously, that is quite different.
