Today Chris Wallace interviewed ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis and noted ACORN critic Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA).

Issa to ACORN: Will you come before Congress?
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) challenged ACORN chief executive Bertha Lewis on Sunday to come before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to explain how her group used its federal funding, which Congress voted to cut off last week.
“Will you come before Chairman Towns … and give the kind of disclosure to where the Government Oversight and Reform Committee could know that you are doing work with firewalls, as you say, so the American people know that their dollars don’t end up doing political activities prohibited by law?” Issa, the committee’s ranking Republican, asked on “Fox News Sunday.”
Lewis would not commit specifically to go before the committee to explain how they group separates its charity, political and federal funding.

Bertha did the sidestep perfectly. No direct answers to accusations, couldn't look at Issa (who didn't get nearly enough time to elaborate on his Acorn issues). Can she please be booked on Glenn Beck? He'd lay out Obama's ties to Acorn, all the corrupt characters running their show, and the sting by the two kids. That'd be fun to watch!

In every interview I've seen her in she says "not on my watch." She pretends to imply that that means no misconduct, however I believe she means….no looking at the books.

In my humble opinion…. The long anticipated (and soon to be released) Breitbart "bombshell" in which he tantalizes his followers with the Pinch Sulzburger comment might well have to do with election improprieties quietly swept under the rug during the 2008 presidential elections. After all Obama was intrumental in getting Mosley-Braun (the welfare felon) elected while he represented ACORN in Chicago. In his mind….if I did it for Mosley-Braun then it should work for me too….in a national election ! Jest sayin'…
Trace the $800,000 donated from Obama. Did it go to "Get out the Vote" or was it the anonymous donation to Acorn to cover the embezzling Ranthke bros remaining restitution?? Why did Obama try to amend his donations?

Wow, this woman's body language was filled with contempt for Rep. Issa. She never once looked at him in answering any of his questions. Unbelievable. ACORN must be investigated now. There is probably a lot more under the rug than we can imagine.

But that is because she is working so hard to help the poor and making sure that she saves peoples homes and that children don't get lead poisoning and she is willing to do the work that she needs to do every day and any negative comment is just Issa' s OPINION which we all know has no basis in fact ever since she fired the only bad employees immediately after the tapes came out and we the tax payers should trust her that whatever they find out that is wrong will be implimented right away.
Everybody just needs to put a little extra sugar in the kool-aid, then you too can have the correct opinion.
Issa did a great job of cornering her by offering for her to volunteer opening her books. She obviously refused the offer for her to volunteer this. Now there must be an investigation by the Peoples independent auditor…. FBI needs to be brought in immediately. No time to wait for Congress to do their political dance.
Notice how Bertha never would look toward Mr. Issa. Corruption has a problem looking Truth in the eye.

This made me so mad when I saw it this morning. Her rudeness to Rep. Issa was astonishing. Not once did she even turn her head to acknowledge him, not when he was addressing her and not when she was failing to answer his questions and rolling out a mess of obfuscation instead. No surprise that she came up through the ACORN ranks, she's as bad as any of them.

The mendacity Ms. Lewis exhibits is palpable. She is unable to even glance to her right, to even acknowledge the physical presence of Mr. Issa. He is the enemy in her mind.
One of the conditions for racial equality is equal accountability for all. When one is born, raised, and continues to thrive in an environment of complete victim-hood; an environment where ALL ills that befall you are caused by the 'other', equal accounting can never be fully achieved.
In Ms. Lewis' worldview, all obstacles to progress are artificial, and set in place by the 'other'.
One wonders what epithets the proverbial fly on the wall would be privy to within her private offices.
Racism still exists. But anyone who believes it is practiced solely by Caucasians has never spent time in a major city with their eyes open. If (let's say) ten percent of the Caucasian population still harbors true racist intent, it is entirely self-evident that the same percentage of the Black, Latino, and Asian communities continue to hold similar bias within their hearts.
You can feel her contempt. You can see it. How convenient it must be to always have the option of blaming somebody else for your woes.

Wow, this woman is so arrogant and completely disrespectful of Congressman Issa – he is a U.S. Congressman after all. She looks away like an annoyed teenager while he's speaking, refusing to even make eye contact. So hostile, and worse,basically refuses to answer any of his questions directly, like she doesn't feel any need to even deal with him even though he is an elected representative of the people. Finally, what's with the African getup? Imagine if I showed up for talk show appearance in traditional Irish Druidic costume, what would you make of it? All in all, I think this is great though. America is getting to see what the inside of the left wing actually looks like – it's filled with radical, arrogant, entitled and ultimately absurd people who don't seem to me even qualified to hold the power that they have.
We, the citizens of the United States of America, aware of our civil rights and in an effort to stop funding to corrupt organizations, hereby express our disapproval of the US Governments lack of attention to the corruption within.
We are aware of the corruption within Acorn, who has received more then 53 million of our tax dollars. We feel corruption exist in many offices and branches of the US Government. We have made repeated attempts to express our concerns, these attempts have been well documented. We feel our immediate and long term future is in jeopardy if this issue is not addressed immediately.
On the basis of the above, we respectfully call on Congress to pass legislation that mandates the immediate investigation of all offices and branches of the US Government. "Corruption Elimination Act" We also request that any party suspected of corrupt activities be immediately suspended of their duties until a thorough investigation is done.
If immediate action is not taken, we will be forced to pursue our legal rights and potentially take part in a Class Action lawsuit against the US Government. We hope our Voices will be heard, and this matter can be resolved in a timely manner.

Ms. Lewis, Thank You for sitting down to an open conversation – I previously wrote you off as clueless, but you really held your ground and defended your organization without snapping, which would be difficult for ANYONE who suddenly found themsleves in your shoes.
Mr. Issa, Thank You for correctly and honestly presenting the wishes of the American taxpayer…we just want to know that our charitible giving is being used charitibly. Thank you for encouraging Ms. Lewis to do the right thing and present ACORN's case to an oversight committee.
After a week of outrage, hostility, accusation, and surprise it was really nice to see a civil discussion. I hope this interview/conversation/discussion sets the tone for more of the same.

Bertha whats wrong with you? You didn't even answer a single question. When you take tax dollars you are obligated to show where they go and what they are used for. Are you really the best representative your company has? Why have you changed your words? Right after the first videos were released you were gonna go after FOX and the great journalists that busted this open. And now you have changed your stance or at least your words. But your still above answering to the people who your company took tax dollars from. I got some bad news Bertha we're not gonna go away until we see a few nuts squashed!!! I am flabbergasted, but having lived for some time, you have met people who just do not want to come clean, its like catching a snake dipped in lubricating oil. Therefore I am sure they have implicated people in high places, that are told: If you take us down we will take you down with us.

I have to give Ms. Lewis props for at least appearing on FOX…that took guts. Apparently Ms. Lewis has bigger b***s than BHO, who wouldn't go near FOX on his Health Care blitz on the MSM. I think caution is the watch word when it comes to the fed's defunding of ACORN. Her appearance on FOX may have just been a big FU to the conservatives that would like to see the organization go away. She may already know something that we don't…like BHO has no intention of signing any such legislation, if it even reaches his desk, that would defund ACORN. Yeah, Bertha would be a good politician. When Mr. Issa directly asked her to commit to an independent audit, she essentially blew him off. She's definitely got something to hide. But we knew that. No more taxpayer money of any sort should go to this classless organization!
I just saw this (been away for the weekend). My first thought is why did they decide to take a week before announcing who their independent auditor would be?
1. Maybe they needed time to convince a company to take the job? I don't think so, this is a gold mine for any accounting business. It will go on for years, and it will be such a mess that they can bill a large sum of money for the works. Of course the accountants may have already caught on that once they are finished there will be no funds to pay them with….
2. They needed time to find the RIGHT auditors. After all, if they have the level of corruption that is suspected by the public, they would need someone who can help explain away the unexplainable.
3. They needed time to find the RIGHT auditors that the WH could endorse, so they would not have to go through appointing an independent counsel, or sic the Inspector General on them.
4. They needed time to shred evidence that they could not reasonably alter. While I have no proof that they would do that, doesn't it just sound plausible?
Yes she was rude to the Congressman, but really! Did you expect anything less? And yes, she sidestepped questions. I expected that. After all, I have heard her speak before, and the Rathke's, and the President for that matter. Obfuscation is one of the skills they all share.

Mrs. Lewis is allowing four very distinct body languages to surface in this interview. The first during questioning, her language is a classic giveaway that she's afraid a question may be asked that will require quick thinking, or more so that her answer could expose more then she wishes it would. The second during answering. her language shows tension that's not seen in a person that expects to answer truthfully. The third during a direct question from a person she deems as a threat, and the reason she can't look in Mr. Issa's direction. The fourth during what is considered an extrovert expression, she has difficulties concentrating on what others are saying because of the three body languages that prevail. In my investigative career I believe Mrs. Lewis to be evasive, lying and fearful during the entire interview.
As an amateur diagnostician, I think Bertha is schizophrenic.
Big Bertha knows it is over. She could not even look Darrell Issa in the eye when he was asking her questions. At this point, she is just trying to save face by evading questions (until Obama tells her to do different). Bye Bye Bertha! Bye Bye Acorn! Bye Bye Obama in 2012!
It would be interesting if an investigation was done on some of the poor and destitute people who received acorn funds in order to save their homes…what are poor people doing owning homes by the way! I work 65 hrs. per week make a good salary and I cannot afford to buy in the city I reside. I bet dollars to donuts friends and family of Acorn employee's cashed in big on this fraudulant scam. I picture new furniture, big screen TV's and shiney new buggies in the driveway.

Chris Wallace is a great journalist but he was clearly backed off because Ms. Lewis is black. She lied when she said they would be good and pay taxes. They don't even submit taxes they withheld from employees paychecks.

I was about to write the same thing you wrote. She has shown that she can not be trusted to be bi-partisan not another dollar should go that agency. If the head is corrupt the body will follow.
As someone previously said "corruption has a hard time looking truth in the eye" isn't is funny that big Bertha did not answer one of the questions directly. Even after being asked repeatedly to stop rambling and simply answer the question on the table. We cannot let this slip under the table! Keep the pressure on acorn and we have yet to scratch the surface on corruption in this administration!
All right, enough is enough. Last week, Bertha was mildly entertainig; she was so transparent one could predict her next statement several hours before she thought of it. Now going into the second week, it is past entertaining, it is pathetic. Furthermore, it is not considered good sport to joust with an unarmed person, and Ms. Wilson is certainly out of her element. She might hold her own as OIC (Organizer in Chief) on a local level, but thrust into the national media spotlight, she has all the credentials of Elmer Fudd. So when a judge will deliver a guilty verdict in Bertha's inevitable corruption trial, Bertha will just say that it's just the judge's opinion.
Chris Wallace did an excellent job here. I thought Rep. Issa was extremely respectful and it must have not been so easy knowing the specific issues with ACORN. I thought Bertha Lewis was just evading the questions. Her responses were ridiculous. She simply reiterated what Rep. Issa said instead of actually answering the questions. And it felt like she snapped to discussing poor people as if that was some alarm bell to shut everyone else up. But when she made comments about poor people, I couldn't help but think of how many people were not helped through ACORN because OUR TAX DOLLARS were spent on pushing whatever candidate ACORN wanted elected. They paid people to get registration papers filled so that's why we received Santa Clause and Spongebob as registered voters.
Why not work with any candidate who is elected and use the money for non-profit as it should have been.
ACORN had 40 YEARS to get this right. I will never trust this organization. It's over.
The president has to sign or veto the bill. The world will be watching his move.
