Michael Barone: Reflections on the ACORN Story
by PubliusFrom today’s Washington Examiner.

I posted my analysis of the 345-75 vote in the House to defund ACORN yesterday, and Byron York provides an excellent analysis of the issue today. But I have to say that I am still stunned by the conduct that filmmaker and his sidekick Hannah Giles documented at several ACORN offices. Of course I was familiar with the plentiful charges of vote fraud by ACORN affiliates, documented by John Fund of the Wall Street Journal over the years, and National Review’s Jim Geraghty helpfully collects some past stories about ACORN employees’ illegal behavior in Ohio, Wisconsin and New Mexico—all target states in the 2004 and 2008 elections. Geraghty also notes that ACORN shares offices in Snohomish County, Washington, with the local Democratic party and AFL-CIO. And that Congressman Rick Larsen, who represents most of Snohomish County, was one of the 75 Democrats who voted against defunding ACORN yesterday. By the way, Larsen’s district voted only 56%-42% for Barack Obama, and if I were running the Republicans’ House campaign committee I’d be busy on the phone recruiting a candidate. This district has been spinning leftward, but it did elect Republican Jack Metcalf in 1994, 1996 and 1998. I don’t think supporting ACORN is going to be a strong positive issue for Larsen in Skagit and Whatcom Counties.

Interesting article.

DAMN STRAIGHT! EVERY ONE OF THE 7 AND the 75 SHOULD HAVE A TARGET ON HER OR HIS BACK
I think every kind of knew that something wasn't quite right with ACORN, but truth indeed the behavior on those tapes was stunning.
Those 75 and 7 must really go, as they have shown they are too stupid to even know when to jump ship. We expect liberals to just slither away when disturbed, but these are like a snake on the road that is enjoying being in the sun so much it decides to wait and see what the approaching semi will do. Good riddance.
It is possible to be too stupid to be a liberal politician, and these people have proved it.
ACORN: A Communist Organization Re-employing Nightwalkers
I know I keep saying this, but; those who voted pro ACORN are by definition supporting the trafficking of child sex slaves.

That last one got me wondering, before politics what did Nancy do?
We have the names; checking them twice. Early Christmas next year for most Democrats up for reelection; wee'll give them lumps of coal, and send them packing

Maybe a simple ACORN with Barry's Imperial Seal for the "O"?
NACA PUTS ACORN TO SHAME. NACA has been on the Save The Dream Tour . That's where they gave100's of 1,000's of 2-4% loans, underwritten by B of A, in a back room deal with Obama
Save the Dream Tour is still going on; I saw a schedule showing the major city they would be in, during each week. I have the info somewhere if you can't find it.
75+7 = Loss of control for the Democrats in 2010
Can someone PLEASE explain to me how that NY congressmen says that "withholding" federal funds is UNCONSTITUTIONAL?
Is he really that stupid?
"ACORN shares offices in Snohomish County, Washington, with the local Democratic party and AFL-CIO. And that Congressman Rick Larsen, who represents most of Snohomish County, was one of the 75 Democrats who voted against defunding ACORN yesterday."
Dang,
Now I have to write Rick a letter to see why he approves child prostitution. Now I have to write the govenor and DA's office and the local police dept asking when the investigation will begin…. I can't keep up – I need to organize!!!
I'm still waiting on the county in Indiana who had 105% REGISTERED to vote….
Save the Dream Tour? Is that the one with Obongo, Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan and Van Jones? Sounds like the Harlem Globetrotters………….
yes it is that simple – this is the only question you need to ask when someone defends ACORN.
How can any, any women defend them??? How can any, any parent defend them?
Where is NOW – http://www.now.org/issues/violence/index.html
Not one thing on their web site – Come on ladies – write them !!! Ask them where they stand???

I am a member of ACORN
H1N1 has nothing on Congress
They've been killing us for years.
Although ACORN supposedly is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, which means it is strictly forbidden to engage in political activity (hah!). I also note that in one of the O'Keefe tapes, there was a big-ass Obama poster right behind the front desk.
According to Wikipedia she has (not surprisingly) never held a real job, her first job out of college as as an intern for a Democratic Senator, it's been politics ever since…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi
Democatic=Acorn=SEIU. That is all we need to know for 2010.
Not even a job in college?
Of course there are jobs you never mention you do or did, as ACORN will advise you.
(Yes I am kidding. Probably. Maybe. Has she always been in San Fran? Just wondering.)
Umm. I don't really see the problem with hanging a picture of the sitting president – as long as they had a picture of George Bush in the same spot until January of this year. (Actually after writing that I couldn't stop laughing at the thought).
Oh, no….. she was the daughter of Baltimore mayor/mob boss "Big Tommy" d'Alesandro. Dirty politics is bred in her bones.

Except this was the Shepard Fairey "Hope" campaign poster, not the Official Photograph you see in every post office.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Che poster.
Barone is always an amazing analyst! Love seeing his stuff here.
His surprise mirrors that of many other conservatives who knew ACORN was rotton, but not necessarily THAT rotton (as in: pure evil), a la ""Prostitution: Do it for the Children. (An ACORN Public Service Announcement)" at <a href="http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/…” target=”_blank”>http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/…
Yep. Good 'ol Washington. The other Washington. Jim McDermott, 7th District rep from Seattle, also voted "no" to defund ACORN. He's been reelected a bazillion times and will undoubtedly retire (if he hasn't already?) from his job in the house. He and (at least) the other 74 should start packing up and looking for a new job.
It's too early to celebrate: the House and Senate measures were attached to entirely different bills (I think a housing bill and a student loan bill). So Acorn defunding could easily be removed from each bill in conference. Need to keep the pressure on.
Also, nearly all of the "Acorn 75" are in safe districts. Dennis Kucinich, "Baghdad Jim" McDermott, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson-Lee, etc., aren't vulnerable, and Chaka Fattah's TV news anchor wife won't broadcast his vote. Plus, it'll be difficult to nationalize an election on this since D leadership voted to defund.

(As a constituent) Rick Larsen's vote on ACORN was very interesting. Especially since Jay Inslee (WA-1), who's district is MUCH more liberal than Larsen's voted for defunding. (Like most of the western WA districts) WA-2 has been drifting more Democratic recently, but is really starting to suffer from the economy/housing crunch (e.g. – there were 10 pages of foreclosure notices in Thursday's paper vs. <1 page of other legal notices). Larsen's pretty good at running right, voting left; but WA-2 isn't safe for him if the GOP can find a decent candidate and hammer home the message, especially if the economy (as I expect) takes another leg down next spring.
75 reps and 7 senators vote to keep taxdollars flowing to ACORN. Nah…corruption isn't a problem in DC.
Next SEIU. I particularly wonder about the International in Service Employees International Union.
"ACORN shares offices in Snohomish County, Washington, with the local Democratic party and AFL-CIO. And that Congressman Rick Larsen, who represents most of Snohomish County, was one of the 75 Democrats who voted against defunding ACORN yesterday."
Let's not forget that it was in Washington State where after the voting was finished suddenly the Dem's were able to manufacture over 500 homeless, address-less voters who all happened to vote for the Dem candidate for Governor (Gregoire), even though the Repub (Ricci) had already been declared winner twice in previous counts. The courts declared the manufactured votes legal and the Dem won. So it's natural that this Congressman doesn't wasn't to sever himself from his vote fixing henchmen at ACORN.

As well as antics in Minnesota for the Coleman-Franken race. Ballots appeared from car trunks after the fact and in one district alone, 1200 (approx) votes came from cemetery residents.
Also noticed both Illinois Senators and most Chicago area Congressmen voted against the defunding measure…I think Chicago would be a good place to start a independent investigation…next Vermont, NY, NC, and all the districts of those elected Congressional reps who didn't want any change in funding ACORN.
The article seems to suggest that this applies to both genders. While I do agree that women look better with a curvier bottom, I, for one, do not find a man with big hips, thighs and ass attractive. Does anyone?
