To both house of Congress: Well done!! Now, keep it up!
Theres sure alot of no votes. Whats wrong with these people?
Yeoman's work Breitbart, Hannah and James. The country owes you all a debt of gratitude, and a big tax refund!
That's 75 seats to win in 2010!
Alinsky Rule #8 Keep up the pressure, never let up
Oops: …both houses of Congress…
Questions for the president:
Do you support importing child sex slaves?
If you were still senator would you have voted to defund them?
Should Durbin have voted against them?
Do you feel complicit, having worked for and defended ACORN in the past?
Would you like to congratulate James O'Keefe and Hanna Giles for rooting out criminals?
You supported ACORN, you support many federal programs, given what we have found at ACORN would you recommend citizens investigate all of them?
[...] The House of Representatives passed a bill by a margin of 342-75 to defund ACORN from the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009 No TweetBacks yet. (Be the first to Tweet this post) [...]
[...] Vote: 345 to 75. Complete results here. [...]
How did Pelosi vote? Why are there 433 votes acconted for instead of 435? If the categories are "Aye" "No" "No Vote" and "Present" – - shouldn't there be 435? Or are there two open seats? Pelosi isn't on any of the four lists.
BILL TITLE: Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009
This is a game of distraction. This is slapped into a bill for government control of financial aid. This is NOT a good thing…. this was a political stunt to ramrod BAD legislation through.

Question…. Am I blind or is Pelosi's vote not recorded above?
This is great (as far as defuning ACORN), however, and I will have to read the legislation, but this can potentially lead to the government taking over the entire student loan program, therefore negatively affecting private lenders. If this is so, it would be a lead up of a crisis that's similiar to what we're suffering from now due to the housing bust. .
Alinksy Rule #13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
Put the pressure on your local media to go ever all 75 of these folks! Plus the 7 senators. "Why did you vote to keep funding an organization that is expert at helping people break laws, run brothels with children in them?"
"How do you benefit politically from ACORN?"
Thanks for posting the scumballs that voted "NOES" and "PRESENT". I hope that they become the new focus of clever investigation. I guarantee they are up to their eyeballs with ACORN. ACORN has lots of dirt on those public servants.
What, no Republican Nays?… Racists!
Well, that didn't take long! Site debuted a week ago and you have already kicked ACORN's ass all over this country! We can thank Breitbart and Fox, and well we should, but if it weren't for James and Hanna and their courage this wouldn't be happening. The two of you have done more for conservatism, democracy, and liberty in the last week than the GOP has done in the last 20 years. Thanks to you both and watch your back!
Interesting that Barney Frank didn't vote… though not surprising… Glad my Rep and my parents Rep voted to defund.
Amen, thanks for stating this, its disgusting…..DEFUNDING ACORN should have stood on its own and not been attached to some bill that gives GOVERNMENT MORE CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh did they think we would find out
[...] House just voted 345-75 to de-fund Acorn. Big Government Blog Archive HOUSE VOTES TO DEFUND ACORN–FINAL VOTE RESULTS FOR ROLL CALL __________________ Your freedom to be you includes my freedom to be free from [...]
Can someone please explain to me why the GOP has such a hard on for ACORN? Even the man leading the charge, John Boehner, has on his website that ACORN has received $3M in funding a year since 1994…With 1200 "offices" in over 75 cities, that equates to less than $3K a year per office? We spend $3M literally every hour that we are in Iraq!
And it's not that they want to reform the group, they want to eliminate it! 7 GOP Senators and Governors have been found having extramarital affairs in just the last 9 months, does that mean we eliminate all the GOP? If men of this education and standing can "falter", why is it expected that low income volunteers be perfect to a person.
Therein lies the answer…ACORN is the largest Community Service Organization for Low Income people in America. The GOP wants to ensure only White Suburbia has a voice and a vote.
If you marginalize ACORN, eliminate them from the 2010 Census, eliminate the people they help count for the Census than you achieve the ultimate end game of making the United States, Northern Mexico…A Country divided into the Have's and have nots….
I just got my tires replaced at a Sear Tire Center…I can remember back in the day when National News exposed Sears Automotive of overcharging at multiple locations. Did Sears Automotive have to shut down, or did they fix what was wrong?
What of when we learned about the Defense Department and their $600 Toilet Seats, did we shut down the Defense Department.
This is NOT an effort to fix a service that has some flaws, this is an all out effort to eliminate anything associated with low income Americans.
I am sure I know the answer.
OK, that's great even though 75 idiots remain.
On another topic, wouldn't this website be more aptly named BigAcorn? I mean seriously folks, could we branch out a little bit here and cover something else?

My question exactly. Is there some provision whereby the Speaker can duck a vote and not be shown as Not Voting?
I am happy about the vote, but I don't trust them. We need to examine everything these people do in great detail until they finally give up trying to mislead us. I want them to get to the point where they don't even try to pull this crap anymore because they KNOW they will get caught.

This ACORN thing is going to be pulled apart and we will see who the truly corrupt are. The politicians who voted against this need to be investigated there is no reason to support this corrupt organization the negatives out weigh the positives. Time is coming for people like these 75, the special interest groups, bias fringe media and corrupt politicians to get a dose of their own medicine… a "lethal" dose through savingtherepublic.com
The next step in this process is a FINANCIAL AUDIT to see where all of the taxpayer's hard earned money has been spent with regard to this ACORN Organization. Then NAME some NAMES, submit them to a PROSECUTORIAL Team, and let's have Criminal Prosecutions. Thanks so much goes to James O'Keefe, Hannah Giles, and Andrew Brietbart, FOX NEWS, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and The Great One, MARK LEVIN!! Thanks also to all of the internet bloggers and True American Patriots that are fed-up with this kind of bullcrap.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is just the beginning. Our country is currently trying to fight off a Hostile Takeover from Left-WIng Radical Democrats and the Fascists in office. ACORN is but one of the symptoms of pure tyranny.
You will not see Poloski’s (Pelosi) name here because she is a senator. This vote was take in the house- not the senate
.
POLITICAL THEATRE ! ! !
I Bet that doesn't last long ! ! !

Well Said. I agree!!! Breitbart, Hannah, James have done what our MSM refused to do! WAY TO GO!! Slowly but surely we are wining this war against the enemy from within. One battle at a time.
I'm not sure she HAS to vote, being speaker of the house. We all know its political that she doesnt want to be seen taking sides on this, seeing how she would lose so many votes either way, but as speaker, I guess maybe she does not have to be counted.

While you're at it, ask him if he's heard of, Congress.
Good job Big Government.
Congratulations on scooping each and every single multi-billion dollar Main Strem Media outlet, and each and every multi-million dollar paid MSM journalist, in America with a huge story that the MSM is all but ignoring.
Kudos!
I emailed CNN today and told them I would not waste my energy to check their website or watch their news cast ever again since they failed to report any of this. I told them it was proof that they only report what they want us to see, not the NEWS!

This is a pyrrhic victory. Acorn may be gone but the government has just tightened its control of the money supply in that they now decide who gets student loans. This is coming next year. Welcome, Karl Marx. You fools who believe the Democrats really care about you can now find out first hand what totalitarianism means – YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN ARE GOING TO LIVE IT!!!! May God frown upon all of you who do not love freedom and have sacrificed the rest of us who do for your own security. P.S. ACORN will be back with the same cast of characters only it will have a new name. God what ignorant dumb asses we have become.
I'm very discusted too, but it's my understanding that this bill was gonna pass no matter what.
This is a house vote, not a senate vote
Where is Barbie Boxer???????????/
I'm sorry but Pelosi is a member of the House. Hence her position as Speaker of the House.
But I also demand to know why her vote is not shown.
?? Speaker of the HOUSE
The difference, sir, is that Sears Automotive did not receive federal funds to assist people in replacing their tires; even if they were, overcharging customers is NOT a crime. Likewise, while spending $600 on toilet seats on the surface appears to be suspicious, it's not a crime! ACORN employees in multiple offices have shown that they are willing to assist people in breaking the law and use tax payer money to do that. Now do you understand the difference between a crime and bad behavior?
Video Pelosi scared forcedd herself to cry on camera.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/09/17...
Whoa. Even Doris Matusi did the right thing. She's not my rep any more, Dan Lungren is, but still. I'm surprised.
Excuse me Davey…but i think pelosi is speaker of the house…you know the house of represensatives….you know the house we are talking about casting this vote…and btw Barney is in the not voting category.. so who's still missing???

Damn,it took the citizen media to bring this corrupt.racist enterprise down.Thank u andrew and these 2 brave young patriots. All I can say now is pass the popcorn!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEMPER FI [LOCKED AND LOADED]
And Pelosi is Speaker of the HOUSE!
Unfortunately this may have been a very slick political move by Dems not to oppose this amendment because they know it will be taken out at conference. Worse this will give the Dems the leverage over Repubs in future healthcare debate. Repubs are now on record to abolish all private sector student loan providers (competition) and create a public sector monopoly for student loans.
The IRS will check them with a fine tooth comb per the black caucus and Obama.
And Bill Clinton had an extramarital affair along with Barney Frank (right?!) so let's take down all the dems too. Then we have libertarians, which would be far better than democrats
How can a senator be Speaker of the House?
Because that's Pelosi's title.
Shouldn't she then be shown as Not Voting?
Pelosi is the Speaker of the House. Reid is the Senate Majority Leader. Easily Confused.
its unconscionable that there were 75 nays
http://republicanredefined.com/domestic-issues/ac...
I think ACORN is racist…the ONLY corrupt employee they've defended is the white lady in CA. They didn't fire her the next day like they did the black ladies! lol.
My Rep – Lynch voted No – what a douche!
Yikes, Mr. Denton! I'm not quite sure that $600 toilet seats from ten years ago quite equates to a group, in line to receive 8.5 billion in taxpayer funds, endorsing child prostitution using underage illegals. Add that to the indictments in twenty states, the $53 million they have already gotten, voter fraud and intimidation of banks to lend to people who basically had no income presents a re real problem. Maybe not in the Bizzaro world you live in, but it sure does in mine!
Corrupt and the tip of the iceberg. Should never have been in the position they are in.
Nancy Pelosi is NOT a senator. She is Speaker of the House. The Speaker of the House is the majority leader in the House of Representatives.
RChapman, I completely agree with you. ACORN will be back with a completely different name. Probably started by the 75 Jerks that voted no. So, we have to watch out in the future for more "community organizing" groups and hold them accountable right from the start. Although they will probably cut of a lot of access and tighten their security so that hidden cameras cannot be brought into their offices.
And to that idiot up there who talked about how this is a strain against low-income families and what not. You cannot compare a sears tire replacement to this issue. That's apples and oranges, buddy. First of all, most low-income people are not able to vote BY LAW. That's why what Acorn was doing was ILLEGAL. Know your facts before you come on here and rant. It's ok though, most leftists don't.
I agree.
i was just on drudge, and the link brought me here… nice
She's a senator.
did you get a reply back?
Huge victory for the power of the free press when applied as it should be, as a watchdog of the goverment. Way to go. SEIU you're next!
Not JUST the GOP wants ACORN exterminated like the rats that they are, there are others as well. Every year ACORN has had people arrested for criminal activity!! The whole organization is corrupt and uses it's "Community Service" as a mask and an aid to get their criminal work done. The sad thing is, as much as the democrats appear to be for the "Poor Black Folks" they make sure they keep them dependant on the gov't. As long as the gov't has them depending on them, that means they have control over them… ACORN assists that agenda! For a group being around for 40 years doing such "good work" why aren't they as well known as the Red Cross???
Adultery is not illegal…unethical and immoral, yes. Prostitution, Tax Fraud, Human trafficking, Purgery, and slavery are illegal and immoral. Don't mistake me though–I am not partisan, I am an equal-opportunity hater when it comes to breaking the law.
She was seen having cocktails with Charlie Gibson as they discussed the culture of corruption.
Yeah but the site is rough around the edges. I can post commets but can't vote because I can't register…. get error Page is Missing.
Thank you so much for cracking ACORN wide open.
"Can someone please explain to me why the GOP has such a hard on for ACORN?"
The GOP hates ACORN because they ARE the Demoratic party. They take tax payer money and use it to commit voter registration fraud (to benifit dems) and they use taxpayer money to campaign for dems. They also use taxpayer money to commit crimes against and abuse minorities and poor people. They are organized criminals that work directly for Obama and the DNC. If they were doing these things for the Republicans you would hate them too. Unless you are a moron.
God would those be great questions.
Davey is an idiot.
Pelosi is the Speaker of the house.
btw… http://www.abcnew.com still hasn't reported this.
They are the "progressive" caucus or the black caucus, as ACORN hires a lot of minorities.
The Democrats are defending their support of ACORN with the claim that certain Republicans also supported ACORN. Most of us conservatives weren't happy when the Republicans supported it either.
At the end of the day, this isn't about "Democrat" or "Republican." To paraphrase an old campaign slogan – " IT'S THE CORRUPTION STUPID!"
I am thrilled with these new blogs. Go Mr. Brietbart!!!
http://www.abcnews.com
Sorry for typo
Same for me. Very annoying.
No suprise, but I see my representaive, MArcia Fudge (from Cuyahoga County, Ohio — perhaps the county that rivals Cook County in corruption) voted in support of ACORN. I just called her office and they didn't have any explanation, but offered to call me back when they find out. I see another Cleveland congressman, Dennis Kucinich, also voted to support funding ACORN's corruption. Fudge's seat is pretty secure, because of the way the district lines have been drawn. Most of our races are un-opposed in this district, sadly. But Kucinich's seat is not necessarily a lock for the Democrats. Hopefully we can hit Kucinich hard over this.
sorry, I was replying to you above re: caucuses
Ummmmm…..yeah, it's not a Senate vote. So again, where is Pelosi's name?
Nope, just that they got it. We should all email a good story… Just put in the topic. ACORN!
Pelosi is a Senator. I say that with utter revulsion.
The vote was in the House, not the Senate.
[...] A major victory for the American taxpayer! [...]
Great news except for the NO voters. Now only if the SEIU can be put out of business, it would be great!
The ACORN people will not go away. They will re-group and come back under a different banner. Remember they still have the money they have already recieved. and politicians in their pocket. i.e. President Obama.
hey mark i have one thing to say 2 u …………..gimmy the drums i wantto tell u about a girl i kissed
an affair or 13.13.13.13 year old hooker hmmm u know ur right the world needs more 13 year old hookers FUND ACORN NOW an if u disagree with me u sir r a racist
Because, if you'd been npaying attention at all, ACORN is nothing more than a criminal racket, an extortion shop, kickback net and money-laundering outfit for the Democratic Party.
Right at the start, in the 70's:
"Under the ACORN/CORAP grant, VISTAs engaged-in blatantly political activity in Arkansas and Missouri, while five VISTAs were active in a labor organizing campaign in New Orleans."… "Immediately following the first training session in Little Rock for VISTA volunteers, one of them flew to Washington and demanded to be reassigned, stating, according to former VISTA staff liaison Andrea Kydd, “ACORN is really interested in power, not helping people. "
The Carter admin was forced to kill their funding.
Fast forward to the 90's: "The Corporation for National Service Inspector General found:
ACORN and ACORN Housing Corporation did not maintain the appropriate separation, and “transactions included costs charged to AHC, and thus to the CNS grant, by ACORN or other ACORN-related entities.”
“the only reason for having the AmeriCorps program was to gain new ACORN members, and that if AmeriCorps loan counseling clients did not start becoming ACORN members, she could and would halt the AmeriCorps project.”
A “client felt like she was not going to be allowed to leave until she gave the ACORN organizer a $60 check, or authorized a $5 per month automatic bank draft for ACORN membership dues.”
Not surprisingly, the government auditors felt their investigation was actively hampered by ACORN officials."
It was also during this time that ACORN filed suit to be exempted from paying its employees minimum wage. They lost- but the practice continued, as numerous state prosecutions have ensued. 'Helping the poor.' Yeah, right.
It was also during the 90's that ACORN started its shakedown campaigns, which its own officers cheerfuly called "Muscling for the Money." And of course ACORN was in the lead of lobbying, and suing, to force lenders to make subprime, no-papers mortgages to their 'clients.' One such suit was brought by erstwhile ACORN trainer B. H. Obama.
And then there's the embezzlement and money-laundering shell game. But you don't have to believe me, or "low-level staffers"- read what former board members and senior officers have to say: http://www.acorn8.org.
ACORN is a present-day Tammany Hall.
Those voting to keep financing ACORN are either blacks or those in hostage to blacks. Haven't you noticed that only black criminals are involved with this organization?
[...] UPDATE: House votes 345/75 to FULLY defund acorn. [...]
The Pelosis and Franks of the House are the worst type of politician…who put self-preserverance above even ideology. And Obama voted present more than any of em.
Sorry folks. My enthusiasism is tempered . . . doesn't this bill eliminated private loans for college education? . . . as in the federal loans are the only game in town and could ultimately dictate who gets to go to college?
Has anyone heard of perverted justice? Its an organization that monitors chat rooms and goes after child predators. What we need is a organization like that, only instead of chat rooms, maybe going undercover to the places we think are corrupt. Set up these teams in each city and see not only the corruption but maybe even find out the ones that are abiding to the laws. We could put those on the fore front and help them. There has to be good out there.
If we would only let the poor die a natural death the country would be better off.
Mark Denton, welcome chief apologist. If you really cared about poor people you would be happy that this modern day slave operation is going away. Do you really think that employing under-educated poor people to blindly promote agendas of the corrupt elite is a good thing? These people are being used, baited by a low wage and the promise of stability and political support. Barry has said it a million times. Their success will be on his coat-tails as a result of POLICY. Hear that? Big Gov policy designed to prop up the poor. Where in history has similar policy ever reversed the cycle of poverty. It designed to prop up the votes counts and leave the pawns mired in a life of mediocrity These people are slaves of every color and the muck is on your hands and those of the other gult ridden politically correct spineless frauds.
ACORN is a 361-Card Monte dealer.
This is a bad thing… read what the actual bill was for. If I read it right the Government just took over the entire Student loan industry in one sweep. If this passes the Senate the Government just became the sole provider of Student loans!!! Isnt that a monopoly??
Forget the ACORN giddieness for a moment and the Student loan bill… Its ANOTHER GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER!!!!!!
You're a Jackass.
There are 100 senators, and 435 members of the House of Representatives. Pelosi is a senator.
Pelosi is the Speaker of the House and only votes when there is a tie. Come on, folks, learn how your government works.
Clearly, almost the entire House of Representatives has suddenly become… racist!
/Carter
This is sweet. I love the smell of political napalm in the… well, afternoon. Congratulations BG on a job well done. Keep up the pressure!
Heard about the Republicans attaching this amendment onto the Student Loan bill
SWEEEEET! Sauce for the Gander. The Dems are famous for putting amendments onto bills and it’s about time the Republicans used the same tactic. I too want to know how Pelosi voted (or didn’t).
Hannah and James with help from Breitbart and Fox have brought ACORN to its knees and in just ONE WEEK!
Reminds me of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho.
Proof that the American Voice is alive and well. Don’t let the left tell you otherwise. Keep the pressure up folks.
So we have 75 in congress that like having sex with little girls, maybe we should make them register as sex offenders.
Here is proof that Acorn and SEIU are affiliated, we need to defund SEIU before they turn us and our children into slaves.
http://mycityblog.net/2009/09/17/seiu-and-acorn-a...
Please post comments an vote, it lets americans know you are concerned. I am making every effort I can to get this information to Democrats that are being blinded by their media
The No votes should have their campaign coffers cross checked to see how ACORN funneled them money
There are 100 senators, and 435 members of the House of Representatives. Pelosi is a senator. So is Bawney Fwrank
Due respect, but google around and you'll see she's Speaker of the House of Representatives.
I saw on RedState.com that part of this bill, HR 3221 ("Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009"), would shut down private student loan lending pus create a "Green Schools Czar".
http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/09/17/dems-kil...
Pelosi is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. She is NOT a senator. Please read a newspaper.
I see that there are still 75 Democrats that think ACORN did nothing wrong. I was not surprised that most of my local politicians voted against the measure since they would be not funding their friends.
"Can someone please explain to me why the GOP has such a hard on for ACORN?"
Alinsky's Rule #12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Not to mention that fact that clearly, corruption exists within the organization. I would also like to see a third party investigation into Haliburton. Seriously.
There's a lot of corruption in DC, one merely has to find a place to start and dig. ACORN is as good a starting place as any.
Wow…truly fantastic! Great Job BigGovernment.com.
[...] the whirlwind of disgusting news about just what sort of work ACORN really does, 2 of Minnesota’s Democrats still voting for the [...]
And the Speaker rarely votes.
the house speaker commonly refrains from floor votes. it's nothing to worry about. she didn't get involved because everyone knew which way the vote was going.
UNBELIEVABLE! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THAT HUGE LIST OF ACORN AFFILIATES. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SPLASH IT *ALL OVER* THE INTERNET AND INFORM AMERICANS ABOUT THIS TRAVESTY!
Even though politicians are overwhelmingly voting to cut off funding to ACORN and all this, I wonder how many of them really wanted to do that. We need a really thorough investigation on these people to see not only what they've been up to, but what ties they've had with other politicians as well. This corruption must stop NOW and the source of a lot of this is in our nation's capital.
Jerry Nadler (D-NY) is a house ringleader, his connection needs to be uncovered/exposed for what it is
Maybe I missed it, but I don't see Nancy Pelosi's name anywhere.
Hannah and James! booyah guys!
It’s all due to you and Breitbart.
I nominate you for the David Award for helping to slay this Goliath.
Ahem… I don't know what came over me. True, she (ugh) is in the House…my mistake. Must be the plastic horror which is her face…it affected my thinking. I see that others have stated that the Speaker rarely votes. I suppose that answer will suffice heh heh.
Pelosi and Frank are not Senators. Dumb America strikes again
"BILL TITLE: Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009"
Sounds pretty meaningless.
Will have to look in to it, but if the title sums it up (which it never does with these idiots), it's a non-issue vote as the student aid stuff to ACORN has been virtually no cash anyways.
Hey Congress, how about something with teeth instead of being a bunch of pansies about it? Defund them entirely and completely. Supposed to be a non-partisan group receiving government (read that as taxpayer) dollars yet they stand firmly behind Democrats…they should be behind no one in government…idiots.
HELLO!!! CONSERVATIVES!!!! READ THE BILL!!!! Forget the ACORN part of this, they just voted to give the Government complete control over the Student Loan Industry and kill all private and commercial loan groups!!!
HELLO!!!!
Maybe the question should be why have the Democrats had "such a hard-on" for ACORN (and SEIU etc etc) the past few years. The answer is they have been used as a corrupt front for using tax dollars, union fees, fees for "advice" for taxes, housing, legal and business matters in a shell game to launder money and manpower to benefit the Democratic party. What we're seeing now is just the corrupt (but smart) politicians running from the exposed corruption like cockroaches from sunlight, just as they used to run from their connections from the mob in old Chicago. The more things Change, the more they stay the same.
And why, Mark, do you have such a hard-on for defending ACORN that you take time to come to the blog exposing these scum and write a long post? Cockroach?
ACORN -> ties to currupt SEIU and BigLabor attemps to take over 1/6th of the US economy through socialized medicine
ACORN -> efforst to defraud and pressure legislatures to issue BILLIONS in sub-prime mortgages to people without letting lendors check their ability to pay, which in large part (along with predatory lendors) caused our nationwide mortgage and credit meltdown
ACORN -> Obama connection as an agitator and lawyer, and whatever connections he has to these kind of people
ACORN -> Repeatedly willing to support the enslavement of a dozen 13-16 year old girls as prostitutes.
Just to name a few things.
I bet my house many of the Dems that voted to cut funding are only doing it before there ties to ACORN show up.
THIS IS THE BEST SITE PERIOD !!!! This is the crap we need to bring to the front table for sure…. This is exactly what everyone needs – Repubs / Dems – clean your house up – no one will be let through unitl they understand the oath to PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES !!!!
Thansk for awkeing up AMERICA !!!
He's a Senator. So that Frank is a different one. I made that mistake myself.
HELLO!!! CONSERVATIVES!!!! READ THE BILL!!!! Forget the ACORN part of this, they just voted to give the Government complete control over the Student Loan Industry and kill all private and commercial loan groups!!!
HELLO!!!!
btw, are we sure that the bill would completely eliminate all funding?
because she's not a senator.
Yes this was great… this roll call was an amendment attached to the student loan bill which replublicans did not support but used this amendment to force democrats to vote it in by having it attached to the student loan bill which passed as roll call 719 (HR3221) 253 yeas 171 nays and 10 not voting…….6 replublicans voted yea….and 4 democrats and 167 replublicans voted nay on the final bill….absolutely brilliant…otherwise the democrats would have let the vote come up and would not voted to stop funding…they could not be seen in public voting down the amendmant which would expose them….good work to those who stopped this funding of child exploitation and human trafficing….
where is pelosi? cant find her on yea, nay, present or not voting?!!
The People really need to see this Tree of Corruption Cut Down and the Stump Removed and Burned!!
I just took a screen shot of the SEIU website so when they delete their affiliation with Acorn from their site we have proof still
http://mycityblog.net/2009/09/17/seiu-and-acorn-a...
That the fuck is your problem? You must work for acorn cause you sound like a nut
Thank you to Hannah, James, and Andrew Breitbart and biggovernment.org. You have done this country a un-repayable favor!!! This is truly journalism at it's finest!!! You brought down one of the governments largest $$ laundering, corrupt organizations and I pray that you are blessed beyond belief for your courage!!! If these idiots take up a lawsuit against you, I believe that the American Public would take up a fund from every person, with brains, in the country to pay your legal fees!!! Tell them….BRING IT!!!! We've got your back!!!!
The problem is – it was attached to a bill where the gov't takes over ALL COLLEGE LOANS – THEY'VE TAKEN AWAY PRIVATE LOANS FOR COLLEGE. ALL GOV'T ALL THE TIME. REPUBLICANS HAD TO SNEAK THIS AMENDMENT ONTO THE EDUCATION BILL IN ORDER TO GET IT VOTED FOR. THOSE WHO VOTED AGAINST, WERE JUST VOTING AGAINST BIG GOVERNMENT TAKE-OVER OF LENDING PRACTICES TO COLLEGE STUDENTS!
That is because it is Steny HOYER…he voted Aye.
We must be very vigilant. I remember just recently hearing that ACORN has been changing its name in various places due to bad publicity. How can this be checked–who will check it?
Yes, the liberals/democrats are never wrong, ever. They are so incredibly moral and above all of us spiritually, that nothing they do is ever wrong, and if you must break laws to allow for the sexual abuse of minor girls, or theft of government monies, so you can fill your coffers and increase your power so be it. You are the happy, wonderful, super sugary sweet hippy flower people who just want to help destroy evil whitey, no matter what it takes. In fact white people are so incredibly evil for wanting to protect their neighborhoods from haughty, entitlement minded, violent, corrupt criminals while being forced to pay extortion for their own disenfranchisement that no matter what you do it is A F-ING OK! What a bunch of snotty, immature, evil, vindictive, self-absorbed children liberals are. You are all just mad because your parents didn't let you do exactly as you wanted growing up and you are still trying to get back at your parents. GROW UP, AND STOP HARRASSING US FOR BEING WHITE AND JUST TRYING TO LIVE OUR LIVES YOU BIGOTED HATEFUL RACISTS.
Hmmmm…wonder how Keith and Rachel will be spinning this tonight on MSNBC??
So as long as it's not your child being used as sex slaves it's ok…. I guess ACORN it "to big to fail"
get over yourself – there is more than ACORN
This president could have been the best thing for America but he choose to follow his radicial friends instead of bringing this country together – this my friend is his downfall…
Yeah, if u let it go the turds will win=more crooked dems, also it's hard to find honest people will to risk their lives to rat these a$$ wipes out. Do you have the courage to do it, or are you content being a sheep?

Most of them are the people that make us ask "How did they get elected in the first place?" Perhaps we have a little more insight. Perhaps when they look at their constituents they say: "I see dead people…"
Glenn Beck has got an office all setup and ready for the "whistle blowers" to come in to and let the corruption come to an end. I cannot wait until the first person goes in there and starts talking….
It will be better than the Hannah and James show
Keep up the "pimpitude"!!! Yeah, baby!
I am sure that you can convince yourself you know the answer. Acorn is on tape willingly assissting in importing illegal underage prostitutes, willingly giving advice regarding how to evade taxes, and willingly giving advice on how to cheat the tax system. Now, your claim is that we are trying to take down anything associated with low income Americans. So my question for you Mark is after looking at what actually happened, why are you talking about low income Americans? Are you trying to state that morally depraved people only exist amongst those with low incomes? Don't you think that is a bit ridiculous? And isn't that just a bit racist in itself? Aren't you essentially saying that by going after low income Americans, you are making excuses for their behavior? For somehow they do not know any better?
We are looking at this as a matter of fact. And it has been proven that this problem is systemic as evidenced by 5 locations and God only knows how many more. And Mark, the real goal here is to take down Rathke and his ilk because the take advantage of low income people for their benefit. Not only that but we have a right to be pissed, ACORN was recieving tax dollars from both YOU and ME. Is this how you want your tax dollars spent?
Pelosi voted yea on the final bill which is the student loan bill…so yeah she is there…couldn't expose her true interests could she….barney still not voting..is he broke down in tears somewhere. maybe couldn't compose himself to come to the house floor….hehe
Oh yeah, that's right…. I need some sleep today…
The P-3C Orion antisubmarine aircraft went into service in 1962. Twenty-five years later it was determined that the toilet shroud, the cover that fits over the toilet needed replacement. Since the airplane was out of production this would require new tooling to produce. These on-board toilets required a uniquely shaped, molded fiberglass shroud that had to satisfy specifications for the vibration resistance, weight, and durability. The molds had to be specially made as it had been decades since their original production. The price reflected the design work and the cost of the equipment to manufacture them. Lockheed Corp. charged $34,560 for 54 toilet covers or $640 each. At least the $ went to the asses of those defending our country.
Why am I not surprised the corrupt Maxine Waters voted nay? Woman is a nightmare.
Andrew and Company has literally brought down the House and Senate on ACORN. Great job…..
Now how bout let's getting the defense shield in Eastern Europe back from the Nice One's sending it down the river?
I looked for it too… & couldn't find it!
Where is she?
The speaker only votes when it would actually count for something, or on a big issue like a constitutional amendment.
I would like to thank my congressman, Mr. Jared Polis of Colorado's 2nd, for voting 'No.' And while I'm at it, I may as well thank Diana DeGette from next door (Colorado's 1st) as well. You guys proved better than any conservative ever could how spineless and ignorant you are.
Where is Pelosi??? hiding under her chair?
I would like to thank my congressman, Mr. Jared Polis of Colorado's 2nd, for voting 'No.' And while I'm at it, I may as well thank Diana DeGette from next door (Colorado's 1st). You guys proved better than any conservative ever could how spineless and ignorant you are.
That bill can be repealed in 2013. However, if Acorn is allowed to continue and refine their election corruption, they can bus in enough illegal voters, coordinate to have republicans nominate another disaster like McCain, and maintain their majority indefinitely.
It's OK TX Patriot. I know the thought of Pelosi as Speaker of the House is almost too much to accept. LOL.
I was also wondering why she didn't vote.
yeh, but the bill now nationalized the whole student loan program. not that they don't already own the banks anyway…
Well Markie, you can take out your checkbook and fund some of the poor criminals that got fired, low and no income Americans are the problem, they live off the kindness of others who have a conscience, they can seem to find money for alcohol, drugs and lottery tickets, can't they?

Ok… I am going to admit I have read the whole entire bill, but the only loans that I have seen that were reformed were the Stafford and Perkins loans, which were government loans to begin with… I could be wrong and there are private loans embedded in there somewhere… but all I see are the Government Loans and a bunch of Grant changes.

Hmmm…. I know that I have seen blogs on health care around here somewhere…. maybe if you scroll down a bit…
If you have taken the time to comment on this, you should also take the time to write your representative, immediately, to either thank them or challenge them on their vote. We must be vigilant, keep the pressure on, and make sure all of Congress know we are watching everything they do now. Here is what I just wrote Kurt Schrader (OR #5);
Dear Representative Schrader,
Thank you for voting Yea on the motion to recommit with instructions, HR
3221. I have not had the opportunity to read the text of this motion, but
I will. Restriction of further funding of ACORN is a big win, but now we
must press forward on a investigations and a full audit. There are over
300 separate organizations contained within ACORN. An investigation and
audit needs to look at each and everyone to determine how federal funding
was disbursed and distributed. There are also well documented ties to
organizations outside of this structure, such as SEIU, that need to be
documented and understood.
Of concern is that this motion was "buried" within a bill that may have
dire implications to federal funding of financial aid to education. I feel
that de-funding ACORN is important enough to stand on its own and a
resolution should also be presented to the floor to further reinforce that
the any and all federal funding should be immediately halted for ACORN and
ifs subsidiary organizations.
I will continue to watch closely going forward. Never forget you have been
given a solemn responsibility to do "the peoples" business. The people of
this country are angry and we are all watching closely. Do the right
thing, regardless of party or other affiliations, that is all we ask.
Haliburton are working for Omaba now,so investive them
Unfortunately there were a handful of village idiots from California who voted Nay. Brad Sherman, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman, and Linda Sanchez. How anyone could vote to keep funding ACORN with tax dollars after this expose is either a lunatic or in the back pocket of ACORN.
I have very mixed feelings on this. It is exactly the kind of thing that needs to stop happening! How can two completely unrelated things be put together when most people would vote in favor of one and against another? Granted one probably would pass any way but are we just becoming part of the problem then?
I'm sorry but Pelosi is a member of the House. Hence her position as Speaker of the House.
This is the second person to claim that she is a senator. How stupid is our country?

MARK DENTON – YOU ARE A RACIST
This may appear like a triumph, but the B@stards stuck in more socialist treats as payback. Through this Act, they have just instituted a government monopoly of Student Financial aid – they will set one interest rate, there will be no competing rates by private lenders. They have just bitten off another chunk of the private sector right under our noses.
Look at the bills name/title…….they just took over funding for higher education loans…….no more private loans !!!!
Wrong – Rush Limbaugh even talked about it today – it ends ALL private lending to college students within 6 months!
Thanks to Biggovernment, James O'Keefe, Hannah Giles and Irving Berlin
Heaven… I'm in heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak.
And I seem to find the happiness I seek,
When we're out watching ACORN up the creek
Excuse me, but has your head been under a rock??? We condemn ourselves. They did not need the GOP or anyone else to do this. They did it. They are the ultimate overseers of finances that have been given to them for specific purposes. They have a duty to use those funds prudently. If they don't they lose it. This is necessary and right what has happened to them. They are misusing YOUR money. How do YOU feel about it? The were telling people ON VIDEO how to subvert the tax system in this country, using YOUR MONEY that YOU worked hard for. Consider all that for a day, then tell me how much your heart is bleeding…
Reminds me of they lyrics to an old 'Radiohead' song:
"You do it to yourself, You do.
And that's what really hurts"
Thank God for our leaders in Washington that are watching out for you as you just spew more rhetoric
The above was directed to 'Mark Denton'
Seems the House failed to mention there was no ACORN funding in this Bill.
In one way we succeeded, the other sense we failed! This bill takes away the private education loans and makes them available only thru gov't means?. Another form of big government at work?
G.E. should be on the list, and Al gore, they are behind this Energy tax that will double the price on power bill, and everything else.
There is currently one vacancy within the house. Also the speaker can vote but typically does not except in the case of a tie.

I have been trying to contact Linda Sanchez, my "representative", for three days. She has apparently shut her e-mail down. I've tried from 3 different e-mail addresses. Ms. Sanchez, just in case you are monitoring the internet, here's my response to your actions:
You just voted to maintain support for ACORN. The ACORN tapes show their workers willing to cooperate with underage prostitution rings of latino girls. A slave trade, where physical abuse is to be anticipated.
Thank you for looking out for your constituents.
Are you brain dead? Do you have a conscious? Is it Demacrat good, Republican bad?
I guess when Libs foster human sex slavery, child abuse, podophilia, they do it with compassion. Without ACORN these low income people can't vote and express their views?
Excellent work to expose these "organizers" for the frauds they are. Keep up the good work.
Funny how some folks are trying to downplay this by saying how "little" money they get from the government. Fine then, if it's so little, the good ACORN folks will get by fine without it, right?
Not to be contrite and as I don't listen to Rush, do you remember which portions of the bill?
Probably at her weekly Botox session.
Probably at her weekly Botox session with Biden.
I haven't read the bill so will take your word (and others) that the basic bill is bad.
If it is, what an opportunity for political theater we will have! Will 0bama sign the bill to get control of student loans or veto the bill to protect ACORN?
As far as I'm concerned it's a win-win-win. If he signs the bill the Left goes ballistic and we defund ACORN. If he vetoes the bill we don't get the student loan problem *and* we get publicity for his support of ACORN. We can kill ACORN off anytime and if it drags on longer that's just more time to beat the drum.
We have to kill ACORN now and will have to kill whatever comes back in its' place, so settle in for the long haul. We are inside their OODA Loop thanks to the patriots here and elsewhere.
Keep it up.

[...] BigGovernment reports that H.R. 3221 has passed the final House vote by an overwhelming majority (345 Ayes – 75 Nays). This bill had an amendment added to totally cutoff the federal funding to ACORN. Ordinarily this would be a great victory, it is being touted as such everywhere. But what people don’t know is that this bill, if passed through the Senate and signed by the President, will garner a full takeover of the Student Loan industry by ridding of their guaranteed loan programs and pulling everything over to the Direct Loan program. This will dramatically injure the Private student loan industry. This is a full court press power grab of the Student Loan industry. Quite literally. [...]

It's about time that CONGRESS took action against 'FRAUD'.. I don't really care if it is ACORN or the Red Cross, crime is crime!!… 'We The People', like it or not, were giving ACORN our tax payer dollars… In that situation, there is an 'ethics' that needs to be adhered to .. And, for those that voted 'No', those congressmen/women, WILL be remembered in 2010 & 2012… Their 'No' votes sent a loud & clear message that they too were the 'recipients' of ACORN's unethical practices.. Oh, this in no way means that 'We The People' won't ask & demand an FBI investigation .. This could go all the way to the White House… and perhaps discredit MANY in Congress, including the President ..The Dems are 'fleeing in droves' to separate themselves from ACORN!! We'll see what happens next. I am praying the the 2 'young journalists' are protected from the 'THUGS' that would like to 'silence them'… Keep them in your prayers!! God Bless America..

Pity poor Obama:
1. If he signs the defunding legislation, his erstwhile good time buddies on the left will consider him to be an opportunistic traitor. At the rate Obama is throwing people under his bus, he’ll have to buy two or three more before the end of the year.
2. If the Boy President DOESN’T sign the legislation, then he’ll have just given the GOP a Louisville Slugger with which they will mercilessly beat him about the head and shoulders right up to the 2010 elections.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

BTW, the Dems would have passed the student loan bill anyway…this just forced the ones in bed with ACORN to vote against that too…

ACORN is not the democrats, it is the socialists.
How many of the 75 nay votes were from the “Democratic Socialists of America”? How many Democrats are actually Democrats?

Publicity is so bad for ACORN right now, it's good for Dems to distance themselves. They are kinda getting what they want both ways. – takeover of the college lending, and looking good voting against funding to ACORN. It's a publicist's dream.
Key phrase: Organized Corruption.
Precisely. We might also fairly say "Normalized Corruption". Yes, actually, now that I'm thinking of what this is, I'll hammer it out: What has Hannah revealed? There is a system here: there is, we have now seen, a vicious circle, right!–a culture is influencing and establishing a system, that system is protecting, feeding that culture:
Normalized Corruption –> Organized Corruption –> NORMALIZED CORRUPTION –> ORGANIZED CORRUPTION
Similarly, there is an umbrella over it all: a class of, well, the most precise word I can think of is snobs, high-minded snobs who are unwilling to fathom that anything a conservative has believed could be true. Snobs. Snobs too poisoned to be generous in thought, to reconsider. And they too have a culture and a system that reinforces itself. Looking down their disdainful noses, Gibson, Rathke, et. al. embody that culture, that system.
Nasty, nasty, sniffling snobs!
Sunlight is the best disinfectant

The Speaker of the house can vote, but:
“As a member of the House, the Speaker is entitled to participate in debate and to vote. By custom, however, he or she does so only in exceptional circumstances. Ordinarily, the Speaker votes only when his or her vote would be decisive, and on matters of great importance (such as constitutional amendments).”
Her vote obviously wouldn’t “be decisive” here.
Somebody most likely answered that already, but just in case…
Now then, for homework, everybody, go to a search engine and look for ‘obama acorn’.
Where is Pelosi's Vote on the ACORN Vote ?
Maybe, but its far from over…there is going to be more legislation and talk in congress…the President is going to be asked about it over the weekend…and there are more shoes to drop (minimally, Breitbart, et. al. will wait until next week to drop them too, to keep the story running).
Plus, I bet this story is dredging up tons of muck…remember, it is only in the past day or so that it has hit on all channels…
Yes, they deserve a public spanking…the story needs to keep rolling…
ACORN may not be getting a tremendous amount in direct funding from the Government to run their offices, but their employees assist citizens in scamming the Government for individual applications for money and fraudulent tax return preparation. It is those applications for money and tax returns that I am worried about. How much money has been doled out illegally to ACORN members? That is where the paper trail needs to be inspected. How much do they charge members for their service? Do the membership dues come out of the money they successfully acquire for those members?
Almost every single "nay" voter is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

I have a feeling we will not sleep for at least a hundred years.
It gets worse. It also creates a GREEN SCHOOLS CZAR position that will administer all online school content. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY. School content is under state and local.
This CZAR gets $500M annually to decide who is going to provide the curriculum. This is a threat to states rights (if you don't comply, you lose federal funding?) and likely to home schooling.

Well I see nothing new insofar as our crappy Dem reps from my socialist state of MA. are concerned. All voted against defunding ACORN. and Barney Frank sat it out. This, I didn't know. Schools are supposed to run at the state/local levels. This is why I have a problem with No Child Left Behind Act – as a teacher, I know it was originally just the IDEA act (just about equal ed for those with handicaps) that Bush decided to cave in to the left – rather than just signing it to extend the date, he changed the IDEA bill into NCLB & it stinks. There is no way to make their standards, because when you hit one one year, it changes and you need to increase your results for the next year – with a different class of children. It makes no sense and all it does is push down curriculum so that 1st graders are doing algebra – really – i.e.
fill in the blank: _____ + 4 = 11
They are supposed to know this is 7 by studying fact families. It is an abstract concept that all experts have agreed they don't have the skills for until they are at least 8-9 years old, but are required to do it at 6 yrs. old.
Sorry about the rant – but this makes me crazy!

So your assumption was this bill was going to pass regardless of Republican vote (which is entirely possible).
The bill contains a nice little provision that creates a GREEN SCHOOLS CZAR position that will administer all online school content. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY. Very simple – ACORN is a leftist political advocacy group masquerading as a non-profit and receiving tax payer dollars. They work for and promote the DEMOCRATIC party. They are also corrupt and support and advocate criminal activity in case you haven't noticed. The argument is not the quantity of federal dollars that they receive, even though their funding was dramatically increased under the "Stimulus" bill, but how they are spending that money and how they run their organization. Would you argue that any organization receiving federal money should be allowed to receive those funds if employees in that organization had committed mass murder, just because the organization had only received a mere $100 from the government and had not received large sums of money? That is a silly argument.
And what does marital fidelity have to do with public service? Did you also include Democrats such as Edwards and Spitzer and Clinton when you bring up this point? Or does it only apply to the opposition?
As for your argument about counting people, the problem is that ACORN counts people too many times and the Democratic Party wants to count illegals as it is in its interest to do so.
And Sears is a private company – not a tax payer funded organization.
And of course you drag out the $600 toilet seat argument, which by the way, never happened.
Just goes to show that you are anti-military and pro-socialist as evidenced by your lefty anti-Iraq war comments.
Do you believe in defending our country?
One question for you: Where will you socialists get all your money from after you have stolen it all from us through higher taxes and there are no more private sector jobs?
What will you produce that is of any value? Do you so advocate for the low-income Americans that you want to make us that way?
You said you know the answer – so why do you need to be educated?
Andrew Breitbart, I love you! MMMMMWWWAAA!
[...] HOUSE VOTES TO DEFUND ACORN–FINAL VOTE RESULTS FOR ROLL CALL [...]
Problem is that Haliburton did not profit from the war and have not done anything illegal. They were not a Bush creation. They also had a no-bid contract under the Clinton administration. And of course they now have a contract with the gov under Obama. Perhaps we should instead look into the process of no-bid contracts and come up with an alternative.
Your point however is well taken – there is a lot of corruption in Washington and there is plenty of invesigation that is warranted.
And of course you drag out the $600 toilet seat argument, which by the way, is inaccurate, and more of a myth than a truth. Simply put, as it was reported in the media and popular culture, it didn’t happen. Why do you assume something is true because you hear it somewhere? Do you ever do any research? Your lack of research on this could explain why you are so misinformed on other more important issues.
Just goes to show that you are anti-military and pro-socialist as evidenced by your lefty anti-Iraq war comments.
Do you believe in defending our country?

I see that our fearless Representative from Fairfax County, Gerry Connolly, was not present. Was this a legitimate absence or did he dodge a tough vote? He owes his seat to the immigrant base in Fairfax County that he said were "welcome" after surrounding counties started to put the screws to illegals. Fairfax bean to see more and more of them after that. Thanks, Gerry. You done us proud. Not.

STFU you contemptable moron. Equating child prostitution with your tire puirchse at Sears. What the F*&k are you even saying.
With the POTUS threatening to shut down the Internet at will, for "emergency" situations such as how his friend did during the protests that followed the elections in Iran a few months ago, and since we certainly have no idea of what he would consider an "emergency," it's quite possible the Internet may become, at any point in time, unavailable, suddenly shut down for some so-called emergency. I hope not, but wouldn't be a bit surprised because everyday there is some new political scandal or "secret" exposed.
Capuano from Massachusetts is going to announce a run the Senatr Seat vacated by Teddy (I refuse to call it Teddy's seat asd it is not his, althought he thought it was) …… this should be easy fodder for any one running against him….but since it will be mostly Dems no one will prbably bringit up……
Amen Brother. This vote was placed at the end of a student loan bill.
Congress should not be allowed to mix and mingle bills like they do. This vote on acorn should stand on its own right so that we can see who it is in our congress who supports the corrupt Community Organization Acorn and then vote accordingly.
As an aside, college tuition has increased 150% in the last decade. It is the next bubble we are facing due to government subsidies. College has become the new High School. There is no way that a college education is worth over $120,000 for most majors. Parents and our young students are suffering because of these government subsidies which drive up college costs just like they did the real estate market. By the way, where is the money coming from. I will tell you — China and the printing of new money by the federal reserve. Where is the democratic spirit of Andrew Jackson who stood up to the special interests of the banks and Government Elites. To your point, Benjamin Franklin said: Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.
I find one of the most shocking things about the Acorn incident to be the fact that so many news organizations simply refuse to report it! Charles Gibson is no more a journalist than I am, and by the way, I am NOT. But then, I don't PRETEND to be, while I take a big paycheck and use my public platform to push my personal agendas and beliefs. I could not have less respect for the men and women in news organizations who are trying to minimize this story by ignoring it. We, the public, are not impressed. We now KNOW you are fools.
When did it become ok to allow an agency of the goverment, paid and funded by the people of BOTH parties, to break the law, violate IRS laws, and promote a prostitution ring? That's not exactly the same as a congressman having an extramarital affair. The trouble with braindead liberals like this is that they honestly don't know the difference. No wonder we have so much corruption in DC with so many liberal Democrats. Maybe we should feel sorry for them, after all, being born mentally handicapped is a birth defect.
P.S. The sooner we rid the nation of these scum ACORN groups, the better for all civil minded citizens. We don't need a "one party" mafia, strongarming voters to vote democratic, under the guise of "helping the poor find a home".
don't worry Mr. Denton. According to the stats u just rattled off about the gov't funding of ACORN, it confirmed what Ms. Lewis of ACORN has said about this defunding not bothering them at all. She claims, the same as you, that its not a lot and they will do just fine without it. So, I say, since they don't need the money, then let's not give it to them at all, ever.
'Sounds like one for the cables', Charlie Clueless
Speaker is in the House and hilsboro is right the Speaker votes only under certain circumstances, as in when said Speaker's vote is needed.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! We don't need another czar on the payroll
Wrong, wrong, wrong….that's would be the V.P of the USA. The Speaker of the House if a member of the House(which is not a requirement by the way) still maintains his/her vote as a representative of his/her district and can vote on any law/issue. However, often times the Speaker doesn't vote or just votes present to appear bi-partisan on issues but still he/she can vote.
Not off-hand, but you can probably find it thru FatherofSixSons who wrote on my other comments:

It's like going thru the healthcare bill – you need a lawyer and 6 references to understand it. But you can understand certain sections.
Here's the bill:

My guess is that they have something to lose big time by refusing to vote for defunding ACORN! Also, what about the ones that didn't vote? Two from my state, Maryland, aren't even listed here. where is their stand on this?
I want to congratulate James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles. Its about time that this group got put out of commission. Without the funding they need, they will be defunct within a short time.
So what can be done to fight this loan takeover business?
This is absolutely INSANE! Why do they think the government has to be in control of ALL of our funds?
Is it just the Democrats on this one, or the Republicans too?
Who are the REAL people standing up for this country? Do any of them exist?
WTF PEOPLE?!?! Is anyone else getting as pi$$ed-off as I am?
How and When is this going to stop?
You know once they get into the college loan business, they are NOT going to leave!
Anybody catch Hannity's special tonight about the farmers in the San Joaquin Valley? Talk about BS! The unemployment rate is 40% there because Pelosi and her environment groups are trying to save a 2" smelt and won't give the farmers water! Acre upon acre of no crops in one of the most fertile areas of the entire country. Artichokes, almonds, strawberries, tomatoes, cantelopes and on and on and there is no freakin' water because the government won't let them turn on the water. Schwartzeneger gave a feeble excuse, but as Hannity said, if obama had time for a beer, you think he could speak to the issue of these farms and all the workers. The people that produce food for our entire country are now standing in food bank lines and get 40 lbs of canned food per family member per week. We are importing the foods that they produce!! This is an outrage and as one man put it, it is terrorism! One sign said, "turn the water off in Pelosi's vineyard." Can you imagine their anger? The land is turning into a dust bowl. This country is on a very slow boil. Corruption in every direction, both sides of the aisle and all around.
Of Course they are NOT going to leave – they want to take over the entire financial market too – that's why POTUS gave that speech @ Wall Street this week. (paraphrasing) "Don't screw up again…there won't be a second bailout" which translates to mean – if it happens again, the gov't is taking over the market.
The ED bill didn't stand a chance of not passing, so Repubs did what they could by attaching the ACORN amend. onto it. Publicity is so bad for ACORN right now, it's good for Dems to distance themselves. They are kinda getting what they want both ways. – takeover of the college lending, and looking good voting against funding to ACORN. It's a publicist's dream. (for the Dems)
Fortunately we are learing how the government works…..I'll wash your back if you wash mine> Those days are coming to an end and it is the POWER OF THE PEOPLE that will take back the country as it was meant to be and all this racial crap is for sissies…..the blacks have just as much dislike for the whites. It works both ways. Do you think the vote to halt all funding that just took place in the house was based on race?
Undoubtedly, ACORN's bigger then Goliath and falling faster than he did…and it's heroic, which means something a even little more than inspiring.
So 75 Democrats voted for child prostitution. How blatantly evil can they be.
I AGREE – this was my first thought! doesn't anybody else see this?

[...] Just in case you haven’t noticed, you’re being dismantled and you’re finished. When the House of Representatives votes to defund you and the number of “Ayes” is virtually equal on both sides of the aisle, the writing is on the wall. [...]

what crap, moral relativism…if they're a seemingly mostly black/liberal (supposedly non-partisan) political action committee masquerading as a dot.org pushing radical causes, with American's hard earned tax $$$ it's ok to aid and abet under-age prostitution?
break election laws?
subvert the process systematically?
put that race card back in your Che' hat…
That's what I noticed too, don't you think Madame Speaker should have a voice in this one? Or did she not want to look bad to her special intrests and lose credibility with the American people by voting?
Okay I guess we now have a most likely to be corrupt list. How many of those people are in office because of stolen votes.
And to the guy who claims ACORN "helps" people. Well I guess my definition of help doesn't include child sex slaving as a dream job to assimilate into American society. One child exploited as a sex slave undoes any possible good this organization could have done. And they did it with my money. And the bosses know about it and they don't care! They lie and hide and accuse others.
It's amazing that ACORN gets 75 votes supporting thier cause. It's also amazing some other fools still support this corrupt organization. Don't they know how many of these "common everyday people" have been caught in voter fraud. How many of these liberal crazies will follow them over the cliff?
I love my country
[...] House of Representatives followed the Senate’s lead yesterday voting to deny further federal funding to the left wing community organization [...]
you forgot cigs, and prostitutes.
Unfortunately, none of the 25 respondents caught the fact that your original premise is based on a fallacy (we call that a lie in the MidWest). ACORN has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994, and is in line for up to $8 billion from the Stimulus package. If you ignore the fact that the founder's brother (I like to call him Goldmember) embezzled $1 million and it was never reported to the Feds), the 30 convictions for voter fraud (and hundreds of others pending), and these videos with people happily offering to help assist an underage prostitution ring, I guess I can see your point. Then again, since I have a conscience, I can't ignore those things.
It's interesting to note that so many Liberals can.
Gratifying as this is, it is overwhelmed the other potentially more important story of the day – Obama licking Putin's boots and stabbing two or our staunchest European allies in the back.
The faster this administration comes crashing down, the better.
I know – I was watching the voting at the same time as listening to him. I'm glad I was listening because I couldn't figure out, when I turned to CSPAN how I heard ACORN in one breath and all of a sudden I heard people talking about education. It was because Repubs tried to salvage something because this awful bill was gonna pass, no matter what!
I just worry about line item veto.
sex slaves in the USA
Don't be a "but monkey". You say this is good, "but", which indicated you really don't think it's good. Your comparison is a little like saying, "yes, the nazis are evil, but look how safe it is on the streets these days." Acorn is organized crime. The people running it should be in jail. They have one purpose in mind–to overthrow our democratic system and enslave you and me. Wake up. There is evil in this world and Acorn is a prime example of that. The 75 congressmen who voted "no" to defunding Acorn are just as evil as Acorn is. They are partners in crime and should be removed from office.
ACORN has been proven to be rotten to the core-no disputing it-there's no rehabilitation possible. Just another useless, corrupt organization looking to fleece the American taxpayers. This is a good measure of where we stand as a nation. Since roughly 20% of congress voted no, present, etc., it means AT LEAST 20% of of our elected officials are corrupt, racist against whites or both. Think about it…..20%!! What a great day it would be for America if each and every one of these people would be removed from office in the next election…..
Well, without going into the vulgarity some of the other replies. First off, it's still a fairly new website and this is what kicked it off. Second, as another reply noted, there are other things on here besides ACORN, it's just that this is a far reaching story and it deserves even more coverage than what is being given on here. Unfortunately, the government controlled media doesn't want to touch it because it relates to the President, his past associations, and his connections.

She's speaker of the house and they seldom vote on bills. Sorry excuse. But her voting record doesn't bother me as much as the fact that this creature is third in line to be President. Scary, HUH
+Nancy Pelosi thinks she is God! She was instrumental in shutting off the water to these poor farmers who have lived and farmed their lands for years in California,I am apalled! She at least played God when she had this done! I wonder how she would feel if those farmers, each and every one, took a saw and sawed off all her grape vines in her vinyards she owns???? That is just what she did to these farmers!!!!!!!!! This is 20% of our food supply in the US!!!! I am sure that food prices will go up because of this also! There is no end to the Domocratic party but to take your hard earned dollars and squander it away on big Union!!!! Are you tired of this America? Vote off these Dems that felt the need to support prostitution and crime for the sake of a vote for their power!!!! We must network ourselves to make sure our country isn't turned into a circus as it is now. If Democrates could tak rain, they would do it. When someone says we need hope and change without any explanation of the change or the plan, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are 40 members of the Congressional Black Caucus – 4 Republicans and 36 Democrats. In the vote to defund ACORN, of the 36 Democrats 29 voted NO, 2 voted PRESENT, 2 Did Not Vote and 1 (Roland Burris, IL) did not even take part. That's 34 of 36 BLACK Members of Congress that believe it is OK for a corrupt organization such as ACORH should continue to receive tax dollars to operate is the same manner as seen in the recent numerous videos exposing their corrupt practices. And Black Americans wonder why they are rarely taken seriously in matters of money and ethics.
THEY ARE LIBERALS
Hey Mark! You are more than welcome to send YOUR money to ACORN. If you believe in this organization so much why don't you contribute to them directly? Seriously, how much have you given out of YOUR pocket to keep ACORN operating on behalf of the Democratic Party? I bet the answer is Zip, Zero, Nada.
It's morons like you that want to see America become the new Soviet Union. Ain't I right, Comrad? And to equate what an elected official does in his personal life that does not affect or cost his constituants a dime to the corrupt, money grubbing people that operate the ACORNS of this country than you obviously were one of those that rode the short bus to school.
If ACORN could be fixed so that it represents ALL Americans I'm sure it would be considered. But that won't happen as long as we have racism in Congress (Congressional Black Caucus) and Liberals such as Pelosi, Reid, Rangel & Franks.
The speaker by tradition often does not vote.
I stated this as many times on this website so that people are aware – the take-over is continuing while we pay attention to ACORN (not that we shouldn't). But – we need to look at all the irons in the fire – they're trying to ram all kinds of stuff thru behind our backs i.e. Tax & Cap – pushed thru on the fly!
Now POTUS has effectively shut down long-range missile defense in Europe – get ready for the next wave of attacks (very possible) from terrorists. All the while he's running around and apologizing to countries that don't deserve our apologies!
Soo Maadd!
Anyone know where Nunes was? He's usually pretty conservative but he missed this huge vote.
The Democrats in Congress have investigated Halliburton many times in hopes of catching something on former Vice-President Cheney. They found nothing significant.
However, one consequence is that Halliburton is, for all practical purposes, no longer a U. S. company. Several years ago, they moved everything in the U. S. to Abu Dhabi except the CEO's office near his home in Texas. They said it was because most of their work is in the Mideast, but the fact that they had to fly people to Washington every time a Democrat had a Cheneyphobia attack surely contributed to the decision.
Result: we no longer collect taxes from Halliburton or its employees after the last American retires or quits. Any American firm needing their services will have to pay extra because Halliburton is a foreign company based on the other side of the planet.
Good job, Democrats!
Having an affair is NOT a felony offence, what ACORN did was, if you cant see a difference, you need to rethink your priorities.
I think you are mistaken, the speaker of the house does vote, its the Vice president that only votes in the event of a tie, but I may be wrong.
Does Charlie Gibson know that WWII ended?
Congress knew, or certainly should have known, about Acorn's reputation far before these two young people came to light. Congress doesn't deserve any credit. It simply ran for cover.
[...] 75 house democrats vote to continue to use tax payer money to fund Obama’s Street Sleeze Community Organizers known as ACORN. Final results here. [...]
The Speaker of the House does not vote. They vote only to break a tie. Their vote is weighted differently as they can refuse to bring a bill to the floor. They preside over the proceedings and can call up any bill to the forum they want.
Isn't Charlie Gibson with ABC?
I don't think this will close them ,but I wish it would. These people need to go back and think why they started this to begin with they are out of hand and need to close downAcorn thinks they do anythibg they want to do .After all the president was part of it for a while

Mark, I share [I hope your] concern for low income people but that's where we part. If low income people would have sought help through traditional means, like places of faith, I doubt this would now be happening. Why? Because there would have been in place a moral framework that would have discovered and cut the legs out from under this dark tendency of fallen man many years ago. It is because many low income people seek help ON THEIR TERMS, from 'da guvmint' like in so many other areas that has produced this 'Entitlement Class' that they are doomed to fail. American are giving people and Christians the most. In fact, it is well documented that POOR Christians in America are the biggest givers. Low income people who think they need help that you seem to be mourning in the demise of ACORN should humble themselves, and ask for it in those places that have always helped. They will get helped but without the side plate of subversion.
And by the way, just to set the record straight for all. I don't know about the $600 toilet seat but I do know something about the $150 flashlight that was also mentioned in the original 'raggedy' complaint. I manufacture one of those $150 flashlights along with my competitors Maglite, Streamlite and others. The $150 is a retail price which is almost never paid [on-line now at $89]. But even $150 is a good value BECAUSE these are heavy duty rechargeable lights that save the user [usually tax funded government agencies] thousands of dollars worth of throw away batteries over the lifetime of EACH rechargeable battery costing $30. And consider the 'green' value of not dumping thousands of batteries into land fills. Don't be like the present occupant of the White House, your [alleged] President and comment on stuff you have no clue about.
Scott, WOW! I sure hope you finish posting the list.
For you information sir there NEVER was a $600 toilet seat. I think you had better get your facts straight. That was a lie and it was proven it was a lie and I worked for the company who supposedly sold the $600 toilet seat. The bid was put out after that scandal, for the TOTAL TOILET ASSEMBLY (NOT JUST A SEAT) and no outside bids would make it for the airplane it was going in for less than it was being made. ALL bids were higher than $600. So the Navy and the Defebce Dept. were not being cheated as you say. It was Senator Proxmier from Wisconsin giving out his Fickle Finger Award to Lockheed whom he was always trying to bury. Barb
It has to do with corruption, nothing more. We the American people want accountability of how our tax dollars are spent. If an organization informs people on how to skirt the laws of our states and country then they are complicit. How can you support an organization that had no problem with child prostitution and illegal entry into the country? We the American people will not stand for it. The current administration has tripled the national debt, we are broke and on the verge of a catastrophic financial collapse because of it. We cannot afford to give our hard earned money to criminals.
I saw on FOX news that the defunding may take several months to get passed. Both parties need to expedite the Bill and get it on the Presidents desk Monday morning for his signature and immediate implementation. Furthermore all funds given to them should be refunded to the taxpayers of the United States.

Considering we have a reward policy for turning in terrorists (min $5million) I think the next thing is to give the dynamic trio a $15 Million dollar "Thank You!" That comes out to about a dime per tax payer. Hell–that would be one of the best "banks for the gubbamint buck" we EVER got!!!

Acorn has been exposed in election fraud and criminal activities for years , yet they still steal taxpayers dollars to support the liberal agenda. It has nothing to do with helping the poor people, and anyone who believes this is a fool.ACORN lied and cheated and bullied many low income folks into houses they couldnt afford with unqualified loans that broke the banks and housing industry.Thye are a proven criminal enterprise and it nice to see there some folks still so ignorant that they stick by this socialist liberal wealth redistribution agenda, after all the ignorant lazy freeloaders who havent worked a day in their lives are entitled to their say too, lol. The people that voted no use ACORN to win votes. They would note get the votes needed to get the seat they are in if ACORN was not around getting illegal votes!
This is the most shameless exercise in HYPOCRISY in an organization that I thought had totally mastered the art. ACORN is totally small potatoes and actually does a lot of good. Unfortunately for it, the good it does is mainly for the poor and powerless, not the rich and well-connected and bribeable (as in Congress). When you consider that government contractors such as Blackwater, Armour, Halliburton and on and on are truly corrupt, have caused directly the deaths of many American citizens, including servicemen, and have raked in billions of ill-gotten gains without so much as a peep of protest from our congressional morality squad, it makes you want to pee-yuke. Thank heavens for the 75 honorable senators who refused to sell out to the phony moralists cum adulterers cum philanderers who populate our current republican party. We don't need to worry about global warming, recessions or acts of nature or terrorists to wipe us out; the total corruption of our government will take care of that much sooner. WHY PEDOPHILES ARE FALLING IN LOVE WITH SINGLE MOMS
Pedophiles are learning to love single moms. Not because these predators are changing their sexual preferences, but because many single moms are inadvertently creating happy hunting grounds for that subspecies of pedophiles who like their prey young – really young.
“Think of it” says Crystal the Jacquez, managing editor of Guys That Lie.com, an online back grounding site. “If you’re one of the tens of thousands of pedophiles with a taste for really young kids, how do you get to them? Children under five or six are just too young to be online by themselves.”
“So what does this most dangerous form of pedophiles do?” asks Jacquez, “He surfs social networking sites looking for the pages of proud single mothers just aching to show potential dates how beautiful their children are and just hoping to attract men who will not only will love them, but will love their children too.
Well, the single moms who put photos of their pre-school kids on their social networking homepages are certainly attracting at least one type of child-loving guy – pedophiles”
“And single mothers almost always do it.” says, Jacquez. “Just look at the pages of Facebook and MySpace. It’s not only incredibly dangerous but worse, most single moms have absolutely no idea that it’s dangerous at all!”
Literally, millions of single moms are now on social networks like Facebook and MySpace — and almost all of them proudly show off photos of their kids on their homepages and profiles.
So if you’re a pedophile stalking preschoolers, half an hour of searching out single mothers on social sites and you’ve got a dozen lush candidates – photos and all – just a few key strokes away”.
Not only that, continues Jacquez, “but the predators know that these kids are often protected only by lonely, vulnerable women. WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY! It’s a pedophile’s dream!
Read this excerpt from a report in the journal American Psychologist, published by the American Psychological Association, regarding pedophiles stalking pre-schoolers on the internet:
“Finding prepubescent victims directly (on the Internet) is quite rare; such offenders use the Internet in other ways. Pedophiles typically get access to preschool victims through online contact with parents”
“If you have pictures of your child on line,” says Jacquez, “don’t be too surprised to get a message like the following from some nice sounding guy”:
“Hey! I just saw your profile on Facebook and you are one great looking lady — and that little girl of yours is just marvelous looking! She looks so bright etc. etc. etc!”
“You’re going to have a new best friend very soon,” she says. “Count on it!”
Who hasn’t heard of Lolita, one of the most famous books in America, in which the pedophile gets access to the prepubescent daughter by courting her divorced mother. You can still see the movie on cable TV with James Mason and Shelley Winters as the grown-ups and Sue Lyon as Lolita.?
Jacquez also cites the following statistic from: Offender Characteristics, U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics re. Victim-offender relationships in sexual assault regarding who sexually assaults children under 6 years old.
Who assaults children under 6 years old:
Trusted family members: 48.6%
Strangers: 3.1%
Trusted family acquaintances: 48.3%
“If a pedophile targets your child’s photo on your homepage, trust us,” says Jacquez, “they’ll become a ‘trusted family acquaintance’ soon enough. “
“Don’t close down your social network homepages” Jacquez says. “Just get those photos of your kids off them!”
“One thing more thing,” says Jacquez, “when you meet a new guy online, check him out immediately with us at Guys That Lie.com (http://www.guysthatlie.com). Our site is free and was built in order to empower women to check out the backgrounds of guys that they meet online.
“First, check our Child Molesters Section where we access the photos and home addresses of over almost 1,000,000 registered sex offenders. Then check him out in our Criminal Records Section. Then check to see if he’s using a phony name. After that, check out all his claims about his background. There is no way,” she says, “that you can be too careful.”
Guys and Lies also has a special page on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/guythatlie and on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/guysthatlie.
Jacquez asks you to please forward this article to single moms you know who have their kid’s photos online..
