**UPDATED** House Votes to Cut All Funds to ACORN
by PubliusFrom the Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) – The House voted Thursday to deny all federal funds for ACORN in a GOP-led strike against the scandal-tainted community organizing group that comes just three days after the Senate took similar action. “ACORN has violated serious federal laws, and today the House voted to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be used to fund this corrupt organization,” said second-ranked House Republican Eric Cantor of Virginia.
The vote, on a provision attached to a student aid bill, was 345-75, with Democrats supplying all the “no” votes.
Vote: 345 to 75.

Really, someone else said the the ACORN vote was lost…
345 yays
75 nays
Are we sure we got it all?? What are they doing to prevent the allocation to all the affiliates and name-changed orgs – What are they going to with the next application for funds to COI?
$10 says most democrats vote against it.
http://www.UniteOrDie.org
They'll do what Handgun Control did many years ago. Swift name change, and back to their old tricks.
Now lets go after SEIU.
here is proof of Acorn and SEIU being affiliated

Roll Call Vote: http://is.gd/3o0aB
Great Job Big Govt.com. YOu are now officially my new favorite website. You have gotten more done for our country in a week than congress has in a decade. Many thanks.
Uncork the bubbly folks, it's time to toast Jeff, Hannah, Breitbart, Big Government, Beck and all the people involved in exposing these dirty thugs for what they are!!!
Two people brought this organization down. But…were they acting alone?
Post the NAY votes.
We got somebodies attention…………….
I wonder if Madame Nancy Pelosi has heard about this NOW?
I think the public needs to know who the 75 nays are. These politicos need to be held accountable.
Great Point. Also, shouldn't SEIU be next.
Maybe now the media will pay attention and Jon Stewart won't have to act like this (it's really funny!) http://freedomlibertyshow.com/2009/09/even-jon-st...
dont celebrate yet…just heard it was a symbolic vote as no money was ever allocated to ACORN in the bill.
Here is proof of the affiliation between Acorn and SEIU, we need to stop SEIU before they turn us into their slaves

[...] according to biggovernment.com [...]
Remember the Nays!
Questions for the president:
Do you support importing child sex slaves?
If you were still senator would you have voted to defund them?
Should Durbin have voted against them?
Do you feel complicit, having worked for and defended ACORN in the past?
Would you like to congratulate James O'Keefe and Hanna Giles for rooting out criminals?
You supported ACORN, you support many federal programs, given what we have found at ACORN would you recommend citizens investigate all of them?
Alright! Lot's more to do.
Good read from Michelle – I forgot about it. Wonder what Robert Gibbs will say
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/08/22/acorn-watch-pt-ii-obama-hid-800000-payment-to-acorn-through-citizen-services-inc/
Follow the trail.
Great….now when does the investigation start?
Awesome!!!
where is the list of the nays???? are they up for election on 2010??
Smuggle little girls for sex slave business? Si se puede! Use prostitution proceeds to contribute to the ACORN, the DNC? Yes we can!
Burn 'em down!
I thank you and I know America thanks Ms. Giles, Mr. O’Keefe, Mr. Breitbart and Mr. Beck for their courageous work in exposing ACORN as a criminal enterprise.
YOU GUYS ARE NATIONAL HEROES!
Wow. Just…wow.
(applause)
Nice freaking work, BG. Just goes to show that you don't need a fancy, bureaucratic, muti-billion dollar corporation to be a media watchdog on the excess and corruption in government. All you need to do with the current administration is LOOK AROUND YOU AND REPORT IT.
This CULTURE OF CORRUPTION (D) is going to be a permanent campaign issue.
They're all yours, Obamacrats. OWN THEM.
Unfortunately, while this bill defunded Acorn, it is also nationalizing all student loans. Do we have to give up a finger to keep a toe?
Issa's amendment is to an education bill. It will only affect any subsidy ACORN and its affiliates(have the check the exact language) receives through the Department of Education.
My Rep, Kanjorski, voted Aye to defund ACORN. I'm calling him now and saying "Thanks for finally doing something right! You're still fired!"
They tied it to the Student loans bill – THIS CRAP I TOTALLY HATE – One has nothing to do with the other !!!!
the student loan bill now makes ALL student loans go thorugh the Whitehouse !!!!! Now you will be the slave of the Whitehouse when you get a loan and who do yopu think is now stuck with paying the tabs when they are defaulted on ?????
Alinksy Rule 13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
Now tie this to the senators who voted to keep the funding…and any prominent politicians that have defended them in the past…
Put it away. This is a LOOONG struggle. Nothing is concrete until the President signs it.
About time… one thing we can be very relieved of is the fact there will be no more voter fraud or election theft. Even if they are involved, they will be watched very closely.
Yes!
Let the good times roll! The great ACORN nut cracking is underway!
Now…on to the SEIU…heh heh heh
http://firebreathingchristian.com
Wow! Great work everyone!
there wasnt any money going to acorn in this bill according to foxnews.
Probably not. They don't read what they vote on in Congress.
Is this the new Drudgereport?
ACORN -(anti citizen organied run nation) this must stop, they have been identified o=over the years as a problem and I do not want my tax dollars spent on such a fraud. Please reject any and all support to ACORN going forward. I can not stand the pretense of them helping the needey while taken advantage of the people they are to be helping and the American tax payer. Enough already.,..
who cares?
Breitbart: “As we go from ACORN office to ACORN office they seem to be experts at facilitating crime. And how to help the underclass work the system as best they can”
This is ORGANIZED CRIME….RICO! RICO! RICO!
I just heard something on the news about this. ACORN wasn’t in the student loan bill, this is symbolic. Anyone know anything about that?
And as my tribute here is Lloyd Marcus singing 2010 at the 9/12 March in DC this last weekend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkWQ4uolB8Q
Cheers!!! Celebrate!!!
Onward,
So are they going to refund the taxpayers for the money they were going to give ACORN?
do you have a list?
Casey's office says so. NO money to ACORN ever . . . . .
A “teachable moment” – YES WE CAN !!!!! MANY THINKS, BIG GOV – WELL DONE
75 congressmen that need to lose their jobs! Un freaking real that you would vote to continue funding these pieces of human excrement !
what a shock rangel voted no. He should be in prison! Crook! Oh wait I might be considered a racist for speaking against him
How much money does George Soros fund to ACORN?
How much money does Ted Turner fund to ACORN?
How much money does the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation fund to ACORN?
How much money does Warren Buffet fund to ACORN?
How much money does ACORN fund to Jimmy Carter and the Habitat for Humanity?
That's 75 seats to go after in 2010!
Alinsky Rule 13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
If it's true, doesn't the student loan part have to go through the Senate? If so, perhaps it will be stopped.
[...] Breaking on Big Government [...]
Odd, considering the Speaker just found out that ACORN even existed, like, yesterday. /just a pinch of sarcasm
RICO! RICO! RICO!
On with the INVESTIGATIONS!!!!
How come Pelosi's vote is not listed? Not listed under Yea/Nay/Present/Absent. Is she royalty?
HL – all of congress is up for election every 2 years, so yes.
Where is Pelosi? I didn't see her name on the list.
Exactly. Stopping corruption should have started at the AG's office.
One must always celebrate the incremental steps that get us to the goal.
WOW! Hannah and James ….. you rocked politics in the United States upside down. Great job. You two rock!
yes ive said that already on here
Where's Pelosi on the list?
this was the trick – come on guys slow down… STUDENT LOANS WILL NOW BE "TAKEN OVER" BY THE GOVERNMENT !!!!
"Yes I'll give you a loan but now you owe me 4 years of Amicorp service !!!!!!! – BE VERY CAREFUL here.
Congress has already thrown ACRON under the bus (they are old news to them) -
the full House is up for a vote in 2010 and a third of the Senate. So, yes is the answer.
We cannot stop now, we have to stay after SEIU and the liberal fascists trying to take over our country. The CZARS have to be investigated and brought into the light of day,and the Republicans better find some leadership with cajones or face being replaced by a new Conservative Party. "We have just begun to fight"
Where is Pelosi''s vote…….
One down…many more to go.
The funding for ACORN was just removed from the spending bills being voted on at the time, yes? So there are other pathways that taxpayer money is getting to ACORN, no? But without a doubt, this is great news.
Great news! We have it as our lead story!

Yea, Americians just got screwed ……..Slow down guys !!!! this is not good …..
Somebody tell clueless Pelosi please!
Please tell me that's not true.

That is just wrong. I finally caught up in reading about this today, but have no fear, it still has to go before the Senate, right?
I'd like to see what else in this bill. One thing it does have going for it is that Sheila Jackson – Lee (TX) and Corrine Brown voted against it. So it must be good!

Jonah Goldberg tweeted earlier that we lost the vote. Curious? Seem to be some conflicting reports out there. I certainly trust Big Government though…
And we the people will be watching and ready this time.

Please vote and comment, as it will let other Americans know you are concerned about the affiliation of these two companies. We have close to 1000 visitors a day, and a lot of them are decorates I rounded up on craigslist.
Alice, where did you get this information?
Bring on the investigation! I will not celebrate until this organization is completely stripped naked. It is up to us to put the pressure on our representatives and senators. A full external, independent investigation to air all the corruption that lies in this country
It's disturbing that, despite all of the clear corruption exposed in these videos, there are still people who will stand up for ACORN. What is it about child prostitution with illegals, tax evasion, and providing illegal advice on how to make an illegal professional "acceptable" on a tax return, that these guys think is ok?
I just don't think that most human beings can relate to this. The 7 Senators and 75 congressmen and women need to have their heads examined, not to mention we need to now look closely into their dealings with ACORN….because something stinks, and it's coming from their offices.
Is this for real? Will they really NOT give $8.5 billion to ACORN? How’s Mr. O. feel about that? Anybody dare to ask him? Somehow it seems TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!
The entire house is up for election every 2 years so yes. I'm guessing they are in safe blue districts but it would be fun to "tweak" them a bit.
That must be the reason the refunding was attached to the studant loan, because they new the senate wouldn't like it.
Somebody! Email Charlie! Email Charlie! Poor missah Gibson, he gon be out the loop again if someone don email Charlie!
That must be the reason the refunding was attached to the student loan, because they new the senate wouldn't like it.
Like so many who already have, I would like to thank James O'Keefe and Hanna Giles for the amazing work they took upon their own to do for this country. The great thing about something like this is when you set the barn on fire, its really easy to find the rats as they run from the flames, Its going to be interesting to see what names those rats are going to have. Now lets watch closely as this continues to unfold and ensure the right actions are taken from this point forward by the people and agencies responsible for stopping this type of criminal activity in our country. These two have done a great job, lets hope and pray we have someone with courage in the right place to keep the fire lit as long as it takes.

Are they defunded or is this just for student loans? I won't believe any of this until the news gets around.
We now have a list of 75 people who MUST be voted out of office. If they believe that bringing in illegals into this country for prostitution and illegal tax evasion is “OKAY” THEY MUST GO!
THESE PEOPLE have to go!
2/3 Congress vote overrides the Pres anyway …
well sadly we couldnt stop the stu loan bill and the academic elitists are SOL they supported teh Unone and now students will have less funding, hoist by their own petard, my girl is hoist too BTW, anywho stopping ACORN funding is an immense victory.
Outstanding, once again! Keep the momentum going and let's finally completely eradicate these thugs, degenerates, child-sex-lovers and enablers, frauds, cheats and liars.
I hate these trade-offs!!! Why do we have to give up private sector student loans to get ACORN defunded? When will the conservatives grow a pair and break up bills??/
SEIU and the National Education Association (NEA) should be next.
Unreal…how many would not have voted Yay if it was not tied to that?? This gives the Yays who still want ACORN Looney Toons who registered through them to vote for them…

Where is Pelosi's vote!??!???!?
Excellent news. Now let’s get a Special Prosecutor. Kudos to Breitbart and our two young heros. And of course to the only remaining news network — Fox. And the blogs, especially GateWay Pundit. Awesome job. You are America’s heroes!
There's always collateral damage in a war.
Praise Jesus! Oh wait… am I allowed to say that?
Remarkable. Eight months ago, ACORN was Obama's "conscience" on policy priorities. Today it's a malignant social tumor unceremoniously extracted by 7/8 of Congress with the political equivalent of a rusty sardine can lid.
Ouch… bad for Mr. Obama.
<Mr. President with pen in hand> "But I like ACORN. Um, what? Political suicide? Rham, don't be a, um, jackass."
I LIKE this!
A victory against ACORN, yes… but a dirty trick none-the-less. THEY PUT IN AS A RIDER ON A BILL THAT CREATES A MONOPOLY!!!
HR 3221 creates a government monopoly of the Student Loans industry. For shame….
I vote not only for line item veto power, but also that each bill only contain one line item. Each issue should pass on its own merits. As I see it, even though I do not support ACORN in the least and think it is evil, this was a greatet loss to individual freedom and free markets than it was a victory.
SuburbanThinker.blogspot.com
Victory!
I say there should be an investigation on the 75 nayer's!!
What a thrill to see some actual investigative journalism. The big networks and the leading leftist fishwraps are going to soon realize that they are obsolete relics. Congrats to all, especially Jeff, Hannah, Andrew and Glenn. You guys are heroes.
Hannah and James,
My hat off to both of you. You are what is good in our great land. My family thanks you from the bottom of our heart for standing up for all of us. God bless you both. I cannot begin to tell you how optimistic I have begun to feel since this story started to break. The fact you guys saw something wrong and started to go after it only makes it better. Thank you!!
ALL 75 no votes were democratic………imagine that!
What are you talking about? They are the only ones that aren't "racist."
Anyone notice that Pelosi name is not listed?
Whoa WHAT!?!
They have to mandatory "volunteer" 4 yrs to get student loans?
Please post source??
If ACORN conducts an internal investigation, does that mean that they are going to bust each others nuts?
This bill gives almost total power to the government on student loans…PUTTING THE TAX PAYERS ON THE HOOK IF SOMEONE DOESN'T PAY ONE BACK!!!!
HELLOOOOOOO!!! This ACORN de-funding addition is not something to be celebrating! The trade-off is far worse!
I say that the De-fund ACORN bill should have been seperate from this…
Though…if Obama doesn't want to throw ACORN overboard then he will veto the bill…
**BREAKING** House Votes to Cut All Funds to ACORN…
So says Big Government:
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) offered the Defund-ACORN bill to the Student Loans bill. The House vote convincingly to cut ALL federal funds to ACORN.
Vote: 345 to 75. Complete results here.

Dems voted for it. It was a RIDER ON A BILL THAT CREATES A MONOPOLY OF THE STUDENT LOAN SYSTEM.
Read more @ SuburbanThinker.blogspot.com
if you voted for de-funding ACORN – YOU'RE A RACIST!!!!
I have no doubt that all 75 are from overwhemingly Dem districts and are considered safe seats. The reason for the Census is mainly to reapportion seats. Ususally happens a few years after the census is taken so the next reapportion is 2012.
They always, in fact are ordered to by law, draw the lines using racial quotas. I propose that proportions of party registration also be taken into account so there will no longer be districts where the election is rendered uncontestable beforehand.
If a district has a 75-25% disparity the lines would have to be withdrawn to even out the gap. If you are a Republican who has the misfortune to live in such a distrist you are basically denied any kind of representation. Sounds like discrimination to me.
The same should apply to Unions. Contributions from PACs should be voted on by the union members. Thus instead of the Dems getting 100% the funds would be allocated say about 60/40% to Dems and Reps.
Somebody needs to take those 75 names in Congress and the 7 names in the Senate, get their profile pics, and create one of those old style "Wanted" posters….only it needs to have the twist that they are "Not Wanted"…as in Not Wanted in our House and Senate anymore. Would make a great campaign tool for the next election.
It's time to clean house. There are too many in Washington that have been there too long, and are too out of touch with the people, and too much in-touch with special interest groups who line their pockets.
Fox just reported, the DA in ,I believe Brooklyn, is sending investigates to interview James.
OOO-RAH!!!!! to BigGovernment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol thanks mr.carter
Congratulations Hannah & James – you are our new Bernstein & Woodward – be safe – and be all you can be
Preach on reverend Sharpton!!
He's on 5 shows this weekend–pressure every media outlet!
Time to start donating to their opposition. I hope they get primary challenges as well. If the investigation gets deeper (feds/RICO), these votes will come back to haunt them though the next cycle.
Right, and if THEY vote it down, then the defund-ACORN amendment they put through in the House is rendered null and void.
Either way, they get something they want, and we get something we don't want. Catch 22.
It's the new new thing. conservatives use liberal/radical tactics, viral internet messaging, and 60-Minutes style undercover reporting to topple a major liberal organization and scoop the MSM dazzlingly.
O’Keefe: “This is the future of investigative journalism, this is the future of political activism”
Pulitzer?
They stuck the ACORN stuff in there to get Repubs to vote for the governement to take over the student loan industry. ACORN needs to be defunded but the government should not have final say on who can get a student loan in America. Nancy is very very clever. I'm afraid they may have won on this one.
Sounds like a good time for a new Deck of Cards (as in Iraq War). Although we gotta be careful that none of the Congressional Black Caucus is listed with the spades suit or they'll cry racist again.
Excellent!!1 Now, Lets expose welfare fraud!!!
I know Jim (Bagdad) McDermit is…. This guy could get arrested with his pants down on "To Catch a Predator", and the libbots in Seattle would re-elect him.
And pressure the small papers and local news to ask questions!!
.com (so there is no confusion!)
Agreed. Pulitzer anyone?
http://republicanredefined.com/domestic-issues/ac...
Yeah, and when they stop that, they also stop the House from de-funding ACORN in accord with that amendment. Catch-22 — first the Senate votes in favor of it, to make themselves look good, then they vote down a bill that contains a near-identical amendment because it's attached to a bill that will piss their constituents off even MORE.
Either way, ACORN is not going to stop getting money. Suck on that for a while.
Burn baby burn! These folks need to go, keep up the pressure….all local media should cover it…
Example: in Chicago, call local radio like WLS, NPR, etc. and get them to ask questions…
Same in other cities….
Don't forget to give credit to James and Hanna. If it weren't for them Biggov. wouldn't be as popular is it is.
Watch your back James with those investigators.
Alice, I just read the CBO's analysis of the bill. If I understand it correctly, the bill actually eliminates one of the big problems we face right now economically and the at is that the government dictates the terms to leanders and garauntees the note in the case of student loans. Unfortunately the down side is that the Government now, under this bill becomes the bank and the gauranture! However, I do not see anything in there other than that. The Fed will just have the control over writing and limits. I didn't see anyother loopholes that would allow for a return favor. Don't get me wrong, I believe that this bill is unconstitutional as the federal government should not act as a direct loan agency. I did notice that there were two amendments from Landrieu and Vitter that had to do with Community re-investment and fair housing, so perhaps that is what the ANIT-Acorn vote was.
Here it comes. Stick with the truth James.
Whoever is in charge of this site, can we PLEASE get an active PayPal button going so we can donate to James's defense fund?
I doubt any of the Congressional Black Caucus voted for it.
Don't forget Maureen Dowd!
Actually, I recommend the Nobel Prize.
Okay, but when the Senate takes up the bill couldn't they remove the Student Loan portion of the bill and vote to stop funding for ACORN. Then it would go to conference, correct. We have got to get rid of Pelosi, Frank, Rangel and company.
Absolutely. James and Hanna make the MSM look like the bumbling Obamunist boot-lickers that they are.
I agree:
Alinsky Rule #8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
While I think it's great that this vote went the way it did. Upon reading HR 3221 I have some serious reservations. Especially the part which looks like it is setting up the groundwork for a "National" standard for k-12 education.
No doubt this will get forced on the states thru the "adopt it or lose federal funding for xyz", which is yet another example of our federal gov't completely ignoring the Constitution, regarding the things left to the state level and prohibited from the federal gov't.
I'm a conservative first, republican second, but when are ANY of our elected officials in DC EVER going to make law that doesn't violate/skirt around it in a gray area of the US Constitution?
What these Demwits are failing to grasp is that once ACORN is dragged into the court system a lot of new info from seized documents will be uncovered, starting new investigations, and once any criminal procedures start they last for years. No matter what they do or do not do ACORNgate is not going away. And the trials should be starting around November 2010.
After they gave one to the Anti-semite Jimmy Carter and that carbon producing nitwit AlGore?
That would be an insult to put them in the same company.
Alinksy Rule #8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
This is great news.
I agree lets take a close, very close, look at the Nays. Do you think they have something to hide? At this point I would have to say "Yes I think they have something to hide",
Common Congress….Get the investigations underway…we need this now, It is a crisis and without doing this right away bla bla bla.
WE want Acorn and its affiliats investigated, we want the House and Senate investigated. We want the administration investigated….NOW
Well, this is a start. However, the trick is that this is amendment to bill to have US Gvt become SOLE provider of student loans effective 2010. Obviously Dems are hoping that Reps will not veto final in order to hurt ACORN.
THis is NOT a solution. RICO is ONLY solution for ACORN. AND we need a separate bill which defunds ACORN and ALL of its parts and ALL of its successors!
Obama and henchmen are working to make the USSR look like a free society in comparison!
I read where Pelosi says she is afraid this will cause violence. Well missy, you get no respect from me, Pelosi it isnt us you need to be afraid of. We wont start anything, but I am afraid your lefty brothern will.
They will find backdoor ways to support ACORN.
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=...
http://www.downsizedc.org
Isn't it interesting?…Pelosi is not listed.
Congratulations to BigGovernment.com, Rush Limbaugh, Michele Malkin, and especially to Glenn Beck! This demonstrates that during the 2008 election, the vast majority of Americans (including some in congress) were not aware of the dangerous attempt at a takeover of our country by these radical leftist socialists. This victory (defunding the corrupt and radical Acorn outfit) is, hopefully, the beginning of the end for this leftist machine. I predict that in the 2010 election we will begin to set things right again, and in 2012, we defeat Barry, and elect a conservative Republican as president.
Hahaha…using their own stuff against them…I feel like taunting them "why do you keep punching yourself? why do you keep punching yourself?"
I was just looking at some comments on an ACORN story in the WaPost. As usual the libs were trying to deflect by pointing out any Rep scandal they could think of. My response to that is "fine, then let's get them adjoining prision cells."
Trying to absolve your lawlessness by pointing out the lawlessness of another has never been a winner in the courts — either legal or public opinion.
75 seats held by people happy to pay for importing teen hookers, I'd say those are vulnerable!
If only, we need to stay vigilant…they may just morph into another organization…
I must be doing something wrong? I entered a congratulatory comment and it wasn't added.
Ya, only a few thousand more dot orgs we pay for so they can sit around hiding their federally paid for crack money.
i think obama just shit an acorn!! now he need to grab a pelosi and wipe himeself!
There was no chance the GOP could have stopped the Student Loan bill in the house. The majority party has too much control. Adding it as an amendment speeds up the process. A new bill would have had to go thru committee hearings. A resolution, while immediate, would surely also be non-binding.
about time the rotten acorn finally will fully decompose!
oh, no! more unemployed people. who's gonna assist these people? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Congratulations to biggovernment.com, Glenn Beck, et al. This is a big victory against the radical leftist machine (which includes Acorn). Hopefully, the tide will turn in the 2010 election, and in 2012 we will elect a conservative Republican.
It Will be interesting to see how many Back-Door Bills and Amendments get attached to Legislation to continue STEALTH Funding for this bunch or Gangsters???
Why do I get the eerie feeling that all of this is for naught.?. The inexorable wheel of tyranny is already upon us and this is just a drop in the bucket for many more free-loading dot orgs.. Some actually do a service and 90% are pure crud..
ALINSKY RULE #8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
Get your local news to go after the Seven and the Seventy-Five: "Why do you want to keep funding that helps import child sex slaves?" , "How do you benefit from ACORN politically?"
ALINSKY RULE #13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
ACORN: Community Organized Crime…sunlight is the best disinfectant…RICO! RICO! RICO! RICO!
Washington State residents, I've got our Rep roll call here:
http://citizengonzo.blogspot.com/2009/09/house-vo...
Carrot and Stick-It Awards.
Yep, there is my congressman.
David Price, D (NC)
Too bad he has probably the safest seat in Congress. The only way someone could possibly unseat him is if they were so far to the left they about fell off the edge of the Earth. People here complain that he isn't liberal enough.
How I despise people in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, NC for repeatedly sending this automatron back every two years.
No, not yet, but by the time WE are through, you will be allowed to say it again…….
Great to hear! It's about time this unbelievably corrupt organization was brought down by the one thing nothing evil can stand up to: the truth.
Better brace yourselves, they're gonna start burning down the 'hood………
Its a hoax. They defunded them on TWO DIFFERENT BILLS. That means they wont lose their funding. We are being taken for the dupe ride.
They must be the same bill to be voted on and pass through committee. This will be stripped out when going through committee and we will be back to where we were.
You dont think the likes of Valeri Jarrett will allow the money to stop flowing to her Chicago groups now do you. She is a very dangerous individual. Part of the old Alinsky Chicago New School leftist.
Where's Bertha's response to this? Evidently, government funding is just a drop in the bucket, according to her….
And where's Pelosi on today's vote list? Is she exempt from voting?
Not listed as Yea, Nea, No vote, or present? Guess she wasn't there…….. or knew nothing about it……..
Go figure.
What’s cool is that the GOP used a crappy piece of liberal legislation to get the AYE votes!
Weeeeellll Done Americans, Well do indeed!
Buuuuut…
That´s not all!
You The People are dealing with the most experienced kind of LEFTISTS CROOKS!
These people must be prosecuted to the extent of the LAW and tracked down! If not, they will just reorganize arround some RACORN, NACORN or any other not related name, with the same people, doing the same kind of things Billion subsided by your´s communist President and all like before.
Beware Americans, subversion is their´s main SPECIALITY!
Mayr Fortuna – From Brazil – Used to see this happen in here – Except that we already lost this battle and are regrouping to face it again!
I sure hope this is true. Obama can't win without them in 2012, he won't have time to "organize" another crooked agency to insure he gets in. YES!
Actually, I believe the base Bill would remove federal subsidies for private student loans. The private sector will still be able to make student loans, however they would not be guaranteed or subsidized by the Feds
.Now let's ,ake sure that the 7/75 are removed from office in the next election(s).
With all due respect to Hannah and James–and they are heroes of the new journalism–this vote tells me that Congress has known all along that ACORN stinks with taxpayer-money laundering corruption, and now they are pretending to be "shocked…shocked!" by the recent revelations. So the exposes have given them cover to pretend to have severed ties just as soon as they had reason to believe something naughty was going on.
The question now is under what aegis will the same people in ACORN emerge anew. (My guess? They will be absorbed and funneled taxpayer graft through SEIU.)
By the way, why do we recognize "international" unions in America in the first place?
Speaker of the House traditionally sometimes does not vote as was conveniently the case in this instance it seems….
All ACORN bank accounts should all be frozen and confiscated and all monies send back to the US Treasury.
Maher calls criticism of ACORN bogus…lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WITyVdbPG7A&fe...
Important: the left has to FEEL that "racist" is a meaningless epithet.
GREAT NEWS … Gov Jindal has issued an executive order cutting off current and future state funding to ACORN http://bit.ly/2b8zUz
This is a good thing and I'm afraid that this is the only way it could have been done in the House. The bigger picture is that now the Government is the only source of Student Loan funding when the Senate passes it's version……they now may control the monies that parents and our kids borrow to go to college.
ACORN receives funding through tax deductible foundations as well as the government. The San Francisco Foundation for example has donated to ACORN for voter registration drives. Organizations that fund ACORN should lose their tax exempt status.
I'm confused. I found H.R.3221 – the student loan bill but I also found H.R.3571 sponsored by Boehner. I'm assuming this is a total separate bill but who knows……
Striiiiiiiike 3 yeeeeer out ! Next batter SEIU !
Atta Girl!!!
Great idea!!
"bout d#@n time they got the message. Sorry about the scholarships.
Thanks for that post! I love his line about "ACORN is OBLIGATED BY LAW"!! Exactly what law was he thinking ACORN was obilgated to? LOL!! Thanks again!
Any thoughts on The League for Women Voters? Hmmmm…..
Who are the 75? These people are your targets America, find out who they are and grill them on it. Do not forget about these people come election day. This ACORN thing is going to be pulled apart and we will see who the truly corrupt are. The politicians who voted against this need to be investigated there is no reason to support this corrupt organization the negatives out weigh the positives. Time is coming for people like these 75, the special interest groups, bias fringe media and corrupt politicians to get a dose of their own medicine… a "lethal" dose through savingtherepublic.com
I just wanted to say that I am so sick of government sticking there nose where it does not belong. (such as california farmers or health care ) What government ran entity runs truthfully and efficently? NONE it does not exist. How the hell do they think they can operate a huge healthcare plan.? Furthermore I am tired of politicians and lawmakers being afraid of saying what needs to be said for fear of offending someone. (Thats crap) Example: illegal immigration, send them back no questions asked . They commit crimes, use our ss, we pay for there aid and welfare, ect. NO MORE. What other country do you know of that tolerates illegals on such a magnitude as ours? I am also tired of people being called a racist because he or she does not agree with the president. What absolute crap. Also I must mention what a great job the two did on taking down ACORN. It is ran by morons and liberals most of which were too stupid to know how to vote. Come on people> and we had to give tax dollars to this crap? HELLO Washington. I think that ACORN and others like it need to be systematically deystroyed. Much more to say . Tell me if im right or wrong.
The tentacles of this cancer known as ACORN have many many paths of destruction and influence. One should bear in mind that the "associated" partners i.e. SEIU and COI are deeply and financially connected and bear the same fruitful and intense investigation. REMEMBER ! Members of Congress are involved so there are many favors to be reeled in by ACORN affiliates from the corrupt politicians. STAY ALERT ! (especially Breitbart et. al.)
Thank you, Andrew !
Issa's amendment is the good news. The bad news is the bill also gives the gov't total control of college tuition loans. That's right, no more private college tuition loans. And that sucks.
ps.
Sorry, Alice. Didn't see your post before I made mine.
I want who the nays are. I venture to say not one of the black caucus vote yea.

No, she's Senate. Or at least that's what she thinks she is.
I think this is great, because at last this Communist front group has been exposed for what they truly are: left-wing radicals intent on destroying America, and what has made America great. They'll do anything to promote their agenda and they'll do anything to "help the poor". They'll lie on loan applicaitons, lie on voter registraion forms, and they'll lie on any other form or document as long as their goals are met. Moreover, they have no qualms about illegals crossing the border, human smuggling, or whatever. It doesn't matter to them because in the end they know they are helping to destroy our country and our values. The only thing they value is money…. money for the poor, money for radical causes, and money for their political supporters. In fact they'll do anything to get this money to include intimidation, human smuggling, fraud, ect.
awesome

I suspect all hat no cattle in this one. Sounds great, less filling, a good start. I don't think the amendment has to have anything to do with the bill. They attached all sorts of things to bills that are totally unrelated. We need a full Congressional investigation of the whole ACORN web and an investigation by the IRS/FBI.
ACORN definitely got caught with its pants down – no more funding for it. I note that Beck got all this done after being handed an ass-whoopin by a Dem organization for saying the president was prejudiced or something like that.
You guys are definitely not winning an election any time soon. You'll really have to get your party together and do something about your education standards. Something about religion and education not going together well…
Go cry some more about evolution in schools or shoot an abortionist and go to prison, or maybe creep around Birther websites. For all the good it'll do you, you might as well quote Bible verses in court while getting sent to prison for life.
Why don't you tell me again why torture should be legal and tell me Jesus would do it? Use some cool references like how Jesus whipped those old guys in the temple. Don't think of how stupid you guys look. Don't look around you as everyone leaves your party. Keep screeching nonsense in the town hall meetings. Do some more meetings in your home town about introducing the Bible into schools and making science teachers teach it along with anything else they teach. See what that does for your state's educational standards and how many of your kids actually make it into college. You want to live in a dump? That's your vision. You want to turn each of your states into West Virginia or Tennessee. Why don't you go live in a trailer there if that's what makes you happy? You can make moonshine outback.
Meanwhile, elect another conservative who's funded by the oil industry, get us into another Middle East war or two while you're at it. Keep yelling in the forums and ignoring your damn grammar, keep dropping out of high school…
You guys are such losers.
Wow. Vote to defund a criminal organization and push through another item to increase government control. We need to stop ALL monies going to ANY affiliates of ACORN. My fear is that they will open under another name and continue the fraud and criminal activity. I wish I had a way of sending the videos taken by that young man and young woman to every member of Congress.
The numbers are posted right there. Did you even read the article? 345 votes means that 172 of the "yes" votes were Democrats. In fact, more Democrats than Republicans voted "yes." Shame on those who voted "no," but for crying out loud… read the damned article before posting something so rude and stupid.
AMEN to that!!!
The site that saved the REPUBLIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You realize that the Dept. of Education is part of the government, right? Who do you think paid the tab before when student loans defaulted? For that matter, when student loans default, it's usually the student who winds up paying them back, unless they leave the country, and even then it ruins their credit. You can't file bankruptcy on a federally funded education loan. This bill increases the amount of loans to 6B up from 1.5B. This means that of the people who require federal aid to attend higher education, four times as many kids will get to go to school, and when they get there, they won't have to deal with the retards in the bursars office screwing up their funding in every possible way. Now, it's a painless process. You get approved, the money is dispensed, you send your payment to one payee for the duration of school. If you don't see the benefit here, I can only assume either:
A: You've never had to deal with student loans while in college.
-or-
B: You've never been to college.
While I'm in full agreement that riders need to end, along with lobbyists and corporate citizenship, but your rage at the Student Loan bill is entirely misplaced.
AnotherEvolutionis: Yes You
You are so stupid. I haven't seen 2 million at any of Obama's town hall meetings or any of his meetings since March.
Hello! DAH!
Stupid comes, Stupid goes. This you.
You may have come from a creature with a tail and swung from a tree, BUT, I was created in the image of God and when he created me He didn't have tail and swing by a tail in a tree. Neither did He stand up one day, put on a suit and get educated. He was the creator of education, science, the universe.
There is a place waiting on you and there will not be a 4th man in your furnace to save you.
Oh no… whaaaaat will ACORN do without that $2 million dollars per year nationwide? Waaaht will they do?

Acorn register's people to vote. Why defund that? Unless you believe all the crap FOX news and Hannity spew out
Sure. Why not let them register Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and the Dallas Cowboys in Nevada (or NM)?
That takes care of the public funding, We need to find out where there private funding comes from. G.E.?
Before anyone gets too giddy, look past the misleading headlines. This bill has not passed both houses of Congress which it MUST do before it goes to the President for his signature. The bill that passed the house has NOT been introduced into the Senate; nor has the Senate bill been introduced into the House. Neither is either likely to be. Even if they were and actually passed, they'd have to be reconciled before going to the White House… something else that is NOT likely to EVER happen. Thus, we see everyone and his brother voting for these measures secure in the knowledge that there is virtually NO CHANCE either measure will see the light of day.
… and we wonder why we can't get tort reform!
I agree with the post above I thought it was also tied to the student loan bill, but yes one has nothing really to do with the other one. I was a student just this year earlier and started receiving letters stating that my loans have been taken over by the us government instead of certain banking institutions that I had originally acquired them from. Unreal how the us government dips their hands into ever little things they can.
theres like 200 acorn shadow what ever they are called in that one house in new orlens they will just give the money to then this is about votes
We can't sit back and think this takes care of the issue – "they" won't give in easily and most likely will use backdoor avenues now…but it's a great start!

This is the same stunt they've been pulling for years on the FLAT TAX. Two hundred… two hundred and fifty representatives co-sponsor the FLAT TAX bill Knowing it will NEVER come to a vote under either the Democrats or Republicans. But they can always point to this grand gesture back home and say, "I tried". This is more of the same stupid games these people have played for decades. They're not interested in what concerns their constituents. All their concerned about is covering their butts! Glenn Beck is right. THROW ALL OF THEIR BUTTS OUT! There are 435 members of the House and 100 Senators. The VAST majority of these clowns are lawyers. In 2010 vote "NO MORE LAWYERS". They can run, but we don't have to vote for them. Most have never run a business, none of them have EVER produced anything but income and the main tool of their trade is words. Just words. They bend them, they twist them and they use them for their own agenda. Let's get back to the constitution which calls for citizen legislators… people who actually work for a living. Listen to Glenn Beck and learn how this bunch of slugs can be beat.
good i am glad to hear it. I covered your story at my website. I hope that you guys keep doing what you do. this is the type of reporting that we need in America. Keep upi the good work!!!!

Fox news was right…. HA HA
Why does the government have to fund this type of organization? They register people to vote…that they do, but they can't seem to do so without controversy and fraud. If it was just one source of information then you are right, there's a good chance that it's unrealiable. However, there are too many sources that substantiate ACORN is another example of unethical leadership in organizations.
Given all the troubles with Blackwater and KBR, we need to stop funding them too.
