Excellent – bring on the lawsuit then we get to see your books! Nice trade!
They have absolutely no case against FOX news and they know it. They may have a case against James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles (unfortunately), but ACORN will not pursue this course since neither of them have the funds that ACORN would want to sue for.
They are targeting FOX just to bring in money from that "evil" corporation.
How about a story on the officials in Washington who blocked the investigation into ACORN and why they did it?

Giles and O'Keefe are heroes–the very definition of courage–our elected reps will not do the work we have voted then in office to do, now the power is in the hands of the people. Can't wait for the depositions in this lawsuit, will you ask Hannah and James to carry a concealed camera so we can hear and see ACORN's lawyers(hey, wait a minute, didn't Barack used to be one of their attorneys?)try to interrogate these two–I'll bet my money on the pimp and the prostitute.
On the acorn website, they poffer this defense: "We are their Willy Horton for 2009." Maybe they should look up Willy Horton before they equate themselves. Regardless of how Willy Horton was allegedly used, or portrayed, he was still a very bad guy. I personally think that thier analogy is appropriate in this regard at least; Acorn is a really bad bunch of nuts.
Corruption needs to be exposed and the left has had a pass for a long long time since they controlled the news flow. Now its different and its coming back to haunt them. Since they could act with impunity they were sloppy.

ACORN is so integrated into the government there will be no DOJ inverstigation just like there was no prosecution of the Black Panthers intimidating voters with guns at polling stations. The government itself is corrupt and ACORN is just an extension of it. Only by the ordinary folks turning up the heat and voting out the enablers will this stop.
There is a strong parallel between this case and Planned Parenthood which also operates as a criminal enterprise and takes in gobs of taxpayer cash. Funding for both these organizations continued to grow even when Republicans had both houses of Congress and the Presidency. Figure it out.

This is great stuff but my concern is that the Democrat Majority is just looking the other way and will not give this matter any true investigation. Maybe they will get the message in 2010 when they loose a good number of seats in D.C. I hope so, something needs to be done sooner than later.

I am a retired Deputy Sheriff, I will offer to serve them.
What would be there case? Did James and Hannah break any laws? I know that each state has different laws, but I would be curious tosee what could be used against them, if anything. Isnt it very much like the tactics of Stone Phillips on Dateline. I mean seriously, these women did not have their arms twisted. They offered up the information freely and without the slightest hesitation. They never once hinted that they could not help the pimp because what he was doing was illegal.
Where is the MSM? I’m furious! I’m sure with each passing day Hannah and James will have more of these type videos coming out in different cities. How long can the MSM ignore this? I belive that your recollection is correct. That didn't matter when George H.W. Bush subsequently took the same tack. He, unlike Gore, was excoriated for mentioning it.
Can we find out how many people that worked for ACORN now work for the Government and what positions they hold?
It think it would be fruitless for ACORN to contact their offices around the country to find out if they provided similar advice in this type of situation because they probably do this kind of thing so often it wouldn't stand out.
Even if Maryland brings charges against james and Hannah, I doubt they will stick. Clearly, they are journalists in search of a story, which turned out much bigger than they imagined. They exercised their First Amendment right of freedom of the press, which supercedes Maryland law.
If ever there was a multi state organization that seems to fit the profile for RICO charges Acorn is it.

Not only are the videos protected by the first amendment, shouldn’t they be protected under the freedom of information act? Since ACORN is funded by government money all of their records should be open to the public.

Well, in Maryland, there are laws against recording individuals without two-party consent. I don't know about New York and DC. However, I would argue that any institution funded by taxpayer dollars should be exempt from this law, as it is in the best interest of society to determine the appropriateness of public funding, and the only way to do that is through surreptitious means. (Of course, this would not apply to the CIA or any other group that holds classified and top-secret security levels, although they have been receiving more scruitiny than has ACORN.)
The subject has been covered as far as Maryland 10-402 is concerned. The law deals with third-party intercept, not recording. There is no law concerning recording meetings that you are a party of.
But hey, there's still two places Maryland statue doesn't apply whatsoever…
I hope some US attorney with a serious thirst for higher office spins up RICO for ACORN…the thing will carry them straight into Congress…

The thought that those people at Acorn not only told them how to cheat on taxes but thought it was okay to bring young girls in the country to be used as hookers. I can't believe it. I have come now to the conclusion that never say never or that would never happen! Because, the never could happen is happening now. Where is religion and God in our country? ACORN has been criminalizing the way in which the government and housing programs are supposed to work. ACORN has flexed it's muscles and made the possibility of Obama as president, almost in control of our census and commited fraud in about every way possible. Unfortunately, Keefe and Giles probably did commit a crime as far as is immortalized in statutes.. The state (I think) has jurisdiction over this matter. It's a shame, though, since when the discovery process in the civil suit occurs (if it occurs), K & G's lawyers will only be allowed to request relevant documents, and in this case, I fear there are no documents which may be relevant to a civil suit against the two of them while simultaneously containing incriminating evidence against ACORN. Even if any was found, ACORN's lawyers would move to have it suppressed to avoid it polluting a potential jury pool for a possible separate criminal trial to be held at a later date. Best case scenario is that ACORN ignores requests for production due to too many documents containing incriminating information, and the presiding judge renders summary judgment. I fear reality may work a bit differently than this, though.
So to James and Hannah: Fight on, but try to keep the possible illegal activity to a minimum, though.
