ACORN Story Grows But Mainstream Media Refuse to Cover It
by Publius
This story has everything you could ever want – corruption, sleazy actions at tax-funded organizations, firings, government ties, sex, hookers. It is a network news director’s dream. Imagine the ratings. But almost no one is covering it.
Bruce Springsteen once wrote: “From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come).” I doubt he expected that story of love gone wrong would become ideal political commentary for the group known as ACORN.
The small scandal showing an embarrassing video of Baltimore ACORN staffers looking like they were giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel, is now national news. — This story has everything you could ever want – corruption, sleazy actions at tax-funded organizations, firings, government ties, sex, hookers. It is a network news director’s dream. Imagine the ratings!
Only almost no one is covering it.
This is the news media in the era of Van Jones and President Obama. The major outlets cover what they want and create the themes they want. When they find something inconvenient, they let it pass. They didn’t like the Van Jones story, so they ignored it. The network news media liked the financial entity known as Fannie Mae, so they ignored that scandalous organization for years. ACORN is getting the same treatment.
But it isn’t working any more. The ACORN fiasco has now impacted three offices – Baltimore, Washington and New York – with laugh-out-loud videos reminiscent of the hookers and pimps from the 1970s “Starsky and Hutch” show. Huggy Bear returns! Four employees have been fired, with more likely to come. And the controversy was so laughably bad that the Census Bureau cut off all ties to the group known formally as the “Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.” — They called it the “tipping point” to shed themselves of ACORN. More nuts for someone else, I guess.
And yet. And yet it’s still been ignored by the network news. Nothing on ABC, CBS or NBC. The only thing any one of the three broadcast networks has done appeared in a blog post by ABC’s Jake Tapper. It’s hardly worth noting except to show that the networks know about what’s going on. They just don’t care to report it. Only FOX News has bothered to report on the controversy.

The silence is deafening from the media. Can't wait to see what drops tomorrow!
Main Stream Media is no more. CBS,NBC,ABC,CNN,MSNBC are through, as is the print media. The Washington Post, The New York Times and the rest are done also. It is a new era upon us, and we consercatives are going to be as technologically adept as the LIBERAL FASCIST MILITANTS are. We shall beat them at their own game, and shove Saul Alinskeys' book right up their ass.
Furthermore, they CANT report this story, because it would expose The Great Leader and his cadre of co-conspirators who came within a hair of dismantling this Country. They will not leave without a fight………
It really is astounding. Their silence speaks very loudly!
This is not going away, no matter how the MSM might try to ignore or wish it away.
This ACORN saga is energizing the Christian Right and one question that begins to loom large in light of these continuing revelations is, from a Christian perspective, "Can a Christian support the Democrat Party?" as posted at http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/...
ACORN has demonstrated itself to be nothing short of evil…they are closely associated with Obamaism…and that will matter…
Keep us the great work, BigGovernment.com!
Well, this isn't all bad news, though it is somewhat ridiculous. It is just a matter of time before the "Mainstream Media" will get what is coming to them, and the "there is no media bias" BS can go out the window once and for all.
A parallel note to get a longstanding pet-peeve off of my chest:
Back when the Big3 used to 'cover' the news (what, 20 years ago?), they would lead off with the same 3 headlines. Maybe in different order but in this vast and galactically dynamic world we live in they had the same 3 stories to push (and of course the same slant).
That right there told you they were not 'beating the streets' for stories.
I feel better now.
I only and best hope is that your work will inspire young people to go out where some of these Racketeers (Congressmen ) hang out and follow them. Take some pictures get some licence plate numbers.
The only way we can fight this evil is to show it for what it is, as you have done so well.
Thank You and God bless you both
The REAL STORY?
Someone needs to start connecting the dots, backward and follow the money, to the source from whence it came. Perhaps a young business reoprter could do that. Backwards: ACORN,Community Reinvestment Act, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Jessee Jackson, Al Sharpton, Congress, Barney Frank, House Ways and Means Committee, House Appropriations Committee, House Oversight Committee. That would be a start. It goes clear back to Congress: Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd and a host of other co-conspirators have robbed the Treasury blind. Furthermore THEY are the ones who caused the financialmeltdown, by lowering standards, and creating and allowing the Sub-Prime scandal. It funded ACORN, and ACORN funded its slugs…….
Helen Keller on LSD could see this picture. America better get pissed………….
I feared if ACORN had not been taken down they would have wreaked havoc upon the voting system in 2010. 4 billion buys a lot of idiot college kids to vote multiple times in multiple counties on the corrupt bus tours across the country.
The thing I love most about this whole situation is that the ones defending ACORN are pulling the race card. Because now the rest of the country can pull the pedophile card. And in the court of public opinion, I'll give you one guess as to which is the more potent.
The typical "John" doesn't solicit children for sex, so a brothel filled with underaged girls is catering to a certain type of clientel. Therefore, ACORN has, in essence, aided two people they believed were going to sell children to pedophiles. Which makes them much like Nancy Garrido, willingly engaging in a marriage with a predator and assisting in endeavors of evil.
One can not divorce oneself from the end result of their actions.
Speaking of the Big Three years ago, anyone remember when Monica Lewinsky had the press conference about the blue dress? 150 rabid reporters showed up, frothing at the mouth, wanting to get the story. I reckon Democratic Sex doesn’t sell like it used to………..
I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out why it is the media decides to embrace a biased stance, refusing to cover certain stories while beating others to death. I know it's not because of any love of the truth. The days of newsmen and women like Walter Burns and Hildy Johnson in "His Girl Friday", the ones that scare the living daylights out of politicians are gone.
The only answer I can come up with is that the media embraces the same elitist mentality that Washington D.C. does, preferring to 1) get their news from Reuters and the Associated Press instead of doing legwork, and 2) only broadcast the stories they think their customers and viewers want to get. Fox has a largely conservative base, ergo their news often has a conservative spin. MSNBC is the opposite, putting a largely liberal spin on stories or at least downplaying those that cast liberal agenda in a bad light. I get the business side of it: you tailor your product to your market. But if they do that they should not peddle themselves as news organizations, an idea that ideally conjures up images of empirical truth and objectivity.
The interesting paradigm shift that we are seeing (none too soon in my opinion) is that news outlets are no longer the only way to learn about the world. There was a time that they were, and they often took that duty seriously. I like to think (can't say for sure) that the greats like Cronkite and Murrow felt a responsibility for the truth. It may be, however, that they never did, which makes to rise of sites like this one such a boon to the world. When you have amateur journalists (I refer to your professional status, not the quality of your work) breaking stories that media outlets refuse to cover, what may have escaped the public's notice twenty years ago due to that refusal now simply casts that outlet as at lazy at best and complicit at worst.
At this point the left-stream media is pretty much in collusion with the White House. It isn't just the lack of coverage of ACORN. Van Jones wasn't mentioned until after he was fired and he barely registered a whisper. I cannot begin to imagine how loud the cries of outrage would be if this happened under the watch of a Republican president. The calls for impeachment would be coming out of all the liberal networks. But Obama? He's untouchable as far as they're concerned. I don't know how we ended up with a Chavez style media (and government), but that's what we've got. Until we kick them out that is. I just hope we can minimize the damage until then. Thank God for James and Hannah– not to mention Glenn Beck.
Glenn Beck has promised an even bigger story tomorrow. My best guess–speculation–on what will come out tomorrow is a story of how ACORN actually walks the cute little Pimp and Ho through their purchase of a new brothel sans the little girls from El Salvador but heck they could not do that without going through ACORN's small business group for some help on getting their very own SBA loan. Thank you James, Hannah, Andrew, and Glenn!
Yep. The old line was, "The New York Times prints it in the morning, and the networks broadcast it in the evening.." A true oligopoly of information- which is now collapsing.

"I like to think (can't say for sure) that the greats like Cronkite and Murrow felt a responsibility for the truth."
Cronkite? Bias nonstop. Democratic Party shill. But in his day there were no alternative media to call "bullshit."
I own stock in WAMU. Bastards! I guess it's time to get on the phone and complain to them about funding an organization that helps pedophiles. I can't wait to hear their explanation for this one.
Chicago ACORN that is my guess
I thought WAMU got bought out by JP Morgan Chase?
I thought WAMU is Chase now?
I thank the Lord for Fox News. I can remember that disgusting Dan (I'd rather be communist) Rather who I refused
to watch and that phony idiot Tom Brokaw with that nasal twang. ABC, I don't even know who they had and, ya, CNN, the Communist (or Clinton) News Network. They are all going down with their beloved obama and acorn. What a bunch of phony scum who fed us pure twisted garbage for all those years, and that includes Walter Cronkite. I thought he was okay when he hosted "The 20th Century" but then he went to CBS News with the rest of the libs. I still believe that he played the commie's game during Vietnam and totally misreported the results of Tet costing us many American lives in the aftermath, may he burn in hell. Oh, and I want to include the liars and hypocritesat the New York Times and Washington Post, so long ,you certainly won't be missed. Freedom of the press, they stopped being the press a long time ago. Screw them and good ridence.
I'm not sure there is any credible explanation other than plain old bias on the part of the people who work for the networks. Take MSNBC for example– they might have a liberal audience to pander to, but their ratings are dismal. If you were a smart businessman you'd change your business to remain profitable, but they don't. I used to work in Hollywood and the liberal bias is so prevalent that it's literally assumed one can have loud outbursts condemning anything conservative and no one will bat an eye– and no one does. I think it must work the same way in the MSM (which I think we should just call the "left-stream" media now for accuracy's sake).
It's owned by Chase, but it's still WAMU and I still have 10,000 shares.
The American propaganda machine(formerly known as the MSM) will hold on to their elitist, political ideology scam like rats holding on a sinking ship. This is Tyranny – period. We should treat this gigantic entity like we would a criminal enterprise (treason anyone?)
Yikes. My husband works for a finance company owned by one of these. Not good.
Own or owned? Unfortunately your stock is worthless as it is now a no longer listed is down to the pink sheets.

If it weren't so disgusting, this would be comical. I mean, it's like a bad reality TV show that you just can't stop watching. Like that Housewives show where one of the women was revealed to be a felon involved in a murder. And just when you think it's over, the reunion show is released and you find out she tried to sleep with the husband of one of the other wives.
I keep waiting to find out that ACORN is funding terrorism or something.
No one's covering it but everyone knows about it because of talk show hosts, two Patriots, right bloggers and most of all Glenn Beck.and Andrew Breitbart…_Salute_
Thank God for Mr Breitbart, Glen Beck, Fox news for giving us the stories others wont cover
In the old Soviet Union they had two newspapers, Pravda (Truth) and Izvestia (News). The saying was, there is no truth in the news and no news in the truth. God help us, we are becoming them.
I remember those days of the all powerful NYTImes. The MSM hasl fallen so far. It's like skydiving when they hit the bottom it will be over and they will not get up.
Very true, but back then there was no internet. The internet is a modern day electronic Paul Revere.
I heard somone made a good point earlier today. The ACORN rep said that the tapes were cut, and edited so that they spun to sound worse than they actualy were. He then said that those women were fired. Why would he fire someone if he believed they didnt do anything wrong? It doesnt make sense. Im tired of people hiding behind their party thinking they can get away with anything. These people are not untouchable. Thank God there are people like James and Hannah that risk everything to uncover stories like these. And thank God someone like biggovernment.com and Fox News are bringing this to peoples attention. Im glad the senate finally did somthing, and it is because of yall. We do have a voice, and people are listening.
Is it tomorrow yet?
You are so right, it will be the instrument that saves the Republic.
Yep we are all listening but apparently many in Washington did not hear the million marchers in DC the other day! Maybe they will hear and belatedly understand the sound of voters marching to the polls en masse in 2010.
They probably bring in either an attorney, or a politician, who offers to help them. As mentioned, it would be quite ironic if it is done in Chicago, as both of our Illinois senators voted AGAINST cutting off Acorn funding last night.
Hardly a word about it in New Orleans, either, except for WRNO and bloggers. And to think that I've been reading the Times Picayune since 1967.
Now that would be hilarious.
I sure hope so. I fear the Prez pulling the plug on the internet in response due to a phony virus or other national threat on our system.
My bubble burst when I found out Cronkite was a proponent of the New World Order, just like Kissinger…and ,seemingly,Obama.
It is outrageous, but not surprising, that old-school media would not want to cover this story. I think I have another reason why. . .
CBS, NBC, ABC do not want to cover this because many elite journalists believe in a doctrine of moral indifferentism when it comes to anything involving sexuality. It is necessary to their world view to believe it is wrong to tell anyone else that a certain type of sexual behavior is immoral. Therefore, they don't cover this scandal for to do so–to validate the sense of moral outrage by acknowledging it–would be to put in question one of their most cherished tenets, that sexual matters are things only the individual can judge for himself, and can never judge in regard to anyone else.
A N.O. radio station broadcast across the street from ACORN HQ (Friday I think it was) at a restaurant after BigGovernment.com broke the 2nd Pimp n' Ho story.
A WAITRESS WAS CALLED RACIST IN THE FIRST 15 MIN. . . A WAITRESS!! LoL
Yes it is tomorrow. I love this site. Hope they post it soon …………
I can't wait to see what comes out tomorrow!!!
2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Heavenly Father, You are the real foundation of nations, raising them up
to serve and care for the people dwelling in their boundaries not by force but by choice.
I thank You for making me a citizen of this land of freedom
and unlimited opportunity.
Send forth your Spirit to this country and make it a source of wisdom
and strength, order and integrity throughout the world. Amen.
I am very excited about all this ACORN stuff also. But here are some concerns I want to raise and maybe others have thought about it. Do any of you ever watch Fox and worry about how some of them come across. As we move into what I hope is a period of enlightenment , I think Fox must now be above approach. This includes the anchors, reporters and those brought into the fold like Giles and Okeefe. Don't get me wrong, Im very happy for all that has been brought out so far. I just want to maintain the legitimacy this deserves so the left cant challenge it. Having OKeefe on Fox news in the morning wearing the pimp outfit is not the way to go. When Hannah came on Glenn Beck, she uses phrases like "these people" and "I just wanted to get em". I know they are young and all but we can't allow the race card into this matter which the left will so gladly bring up.
Just wondering if anyone else gets where I am coming from?
I know! I don't know how much longer I can stay up. I'll probably catch this in the morning.
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Matthew 7:4-5
Even if you aren't a religious person, it's still something that applies to this situation. The media and liberals in general from my observation are always trying to find what's wrong with us but then either sweep under the rug stories like this or even worse try to justify their actions. Since most of us on this site are conservatives, we need to make sure we don't make the same mistake in the future. Since there is corruption on both sides of the isle, we need to make sure that we clean up our messes in order to make any real headway.
The Dems and the media have forgotten the first lesson of Watergate: Its not the crime but the coverup that really destroys you. They don't seen to realize that we are now entering Watergate II (aka ACORNgate) — and they are Nixon and we are Woodward and Bernstein.
And WoodStein were just two young intrepid investigative journalists (gee, where have we heard that lately?) — we have tens of thousands of freelancers googling and YouTubing their ass, with our own electronic printing presses that don't have arrogant partisan editors who would kill the story.
These folks are really replacing mainstream and I feel lucky to be a witness to what is happening. I am so proud of the Americans I have met this summer at the five rallies here in California where we believe part of the infection began that is crippling this great nation. Meet my new friends!
Thank you BigGovernment.com

This is all great…and who knows where all this will lead us too. What I'm really concerned about is repercussions. I'm wondering if you Andrew Breitbart are protecting Mr. O'keefe and Miss Giles. I just read about a Lt. Harris who was going to testify as a witness concerning someone looking at the passports of Obama, Hillary and McCain and he was found shot to death in his car!!! Also a witness for that ex Gov of Illinois supposedly committed suicide with aspirin. So this is a horrible world we live in which is why I'm just hoping the owner of this site is protecting these two young people???
I want to know how many hits this blog has gotten since it's inception. It needs a counter.
It is still today. Tomorrow never comes. Now in Japan it is tomorrow but you ar not there so you are stuck in today. If you go to Japan, by the time you get there it will be today so stay where you are at until 5:00 PM EST on the 15th and tune in to Glenn Beck as I understand he will have the exclusive.
I do see your point justice. They have already attempted to portray the expose as being solely targeted towards Blacks. A simple response would be to point out if the "career and tax advise" had come out of white lips would thay have been any less venal? But I think the scandal will involve so many white politicans and leftist icons that that lame attempt at obfuscation will be soon dismissed.
Yep I see it from time to time. I have no real answer as no one is perfect. If you get too worried I suggest you spend an evening watching DVRs of the MSM. I just playback my trusty VHS tape of the Charlie Gibson professorial interview of Sarah Palin. Anyway, it should take just one dose of Evening news with the alphabet MSM to bring you back to reality. If that does not work watch the Today Show and GMA then call a Doctor if that does not do it.
We only have one "recognised" media stream, and we really only have one political party. And they are both run by the same co-conspirators and Glorious Leader.
Many people do not believe what is going on in our country because they don't see it reported on the nightly news- whether it is ABC, CBS, or NBC. They are in the dark. And when they hear about people protesting the govt., of course they think we're nutjobs, that is what they hear from the MSM- and they never see anything on the news that would make them sit up and say, "Hey! That's what all those people are protesting about."
So, when you try to talk to them about what is going on, they don't believe you, because they didn't see anything about that in the news. So you tell them you saw it on Fox, or read it on Breitbart, and they think you are a nutjob, because THAT is something they have seen on the news.
I know what you mean!
This whole Tea Party movement has made for many wonderful new connections, as has BigGovernment.com.
How cool is that?
I was thinking the same thing when I was watching GB. Everyone has an agenda…All media is biased, Its hard not to report the news without putting your spin on things. What is Fox after? To me, Fox is the most tolerant media source that I have found. They present both sides, but they also let you know which side they prefer. That's why I think it is important to listen to more than just one source; you get a bigger picture that way. You can see both sides and make your decision from there.
Reportedly, Glenn Beck has viewed the next tape and said it will peel our skin off… deliciously intriguing!
CBS, NBC, ABC… all Barack Channels. Says volumes. Thank God for FOX and Andrew Breitbart.
Ditto to that.
If the MSM is as corrupt as ACORN seems to be (and I suspect it is, after 40+ years of their race-baiting stories), then perhaps the same tactics should be used against them, as well.
State-Run Media: The Kanye West of News. All they can do is proclaim Obama as the best.leader.evah!
I'd LOVE to dance on the leftstream media's grave but I have to remind everyone.. they haven't gotten in the coffin yet much less been buried. They still have a lot of power. Thanks to the internet and all you fine Americans for bringing the MSM's dominance closer to it's end.
Thanks for doing this investigating!!! It's very enlightening!
If not for major sporting events, I would not view ABC, NBC or CBS. BUT I do tune in to their news broadcasts at 6PM and 11PM just to see if they have finally reformed from their bias; even just a little. Perhaps if others joined me to boycott their advertisers, it could add up to an awakening. And I used to be glued to "60 Minutes". ACORN makes Al Sharpton look like a saint (but not Jeremiah Wright)….
CNN has two choices for editions on their home page (upper right corner) First is "International" and second is "Arabic" The "international" edition is where you will find the "US and nothing at all in Italian, French, German, etc. Not sure what it means seeing CNN's logo in Arabic says a lot about where their interests are.
I agree with Bernie last night on Fox News. He stated we need to stop refering to them as Main Stream News. There is nothing Main Stream about them. Fom now on Liberal News sounds good to me.
…an ACORN does not fall far from the tree….
BOYCOTT HOLLYWOOD!!!!____http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2009/09/14/patrick... & Kutcher are only two of the "tens of thousands" rich, liberal Obama supporters over there… let's boycott MOVIES and DVD's and the National Enquirer and anything and EVERYTHING that is Hollywood! Let's hit them in their own pocketbooks!!
Look hars at Goldman Sachs, you might be shocked at what you find………………….
Where you fall in the line of CONSERVATIVE thinking and identification will determine how the movement is perceived by average Americans. So far so good ! It is important that civility, respect and factual presentations be utilized at all times. It is NOT a time to be giddy with our initial impacts and gains. The banners should display our keen focus on the Constitution, the Federalist Papers and the Bill of Rights. Let us NOT BE PORTRAYED as fringe "ANYTHINGS"…….because the Liberal Press will try to sway public opinion toward that objective. Let us all be on our BEST BEHAVIOR ! This is ONLY the beginning.
You are totally correct. Obongo wants control of the Internet, a bill sponsored by Jay Rockefeller of WV, the great Jay Rockefeller who is a trocolodyte of the New World Order will give that power to The Great Leader………
The Rockefeller that said….. "The internet should never have been allowed"
As you can see from his statement…. he definitely thinks like a dictator
.
A beautiful morning! It is great to be alive, I can only hope todays viedo release is a show stopper. Speaking of show stopperr, in scrolling htrough the channels this morning, checking on the illustrious Liberal Fascist News, it is pitiful. Is it just me, byt are those people delusional and out of touch? Joe Scarboro and his cadre of babbling talking heads are talking incessantly and incoherently about nothing. Blah, blah, blah……….
There is not an ounce of passion or fire in the whole bunch, nothing but scripted babble………………..
I give to the United Way every paid day.
I urge evernyone to do as I have been doing. I have been emailing everyone I know to take a look at Big Government.com. It is so important. That is the only source of what is happening. Co-workers have thanked me. Let others in on where they can find the truth. I send it to Obama supporters too. If I mention Fox, they immediately go into the 'song and dance' about it being for right wingers. Big Government is new to them so they look and once they read, they see that they are not being informed. Pass the info along. Great job to the brave James, Hannah, Glen and Fox news for reporting the truth.
Beck said last night that the tape would make your skin peel from your face…. Goody…can't wait !
NBC, CBS, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NYT, WAPO – While You were sleeping, We The People were WIDE awake!
NATIONAL BOYCOTT WEEK – Sept 21st through Sept 25th
*Boycott all mainstream media and their advertisers*

The answer is actually pretty straight forward, and Uncle Walter is part of the problem, along with Woodward and Bernstein. Journalists have stopped reporting the news and are instead activists working to improve their communities. It's been more than 20 years since I took a single Journalism class in college, but two things still stand out in my mind about the class. First, in the first paragraph of the first chapter of our textbook the authors encouraged their reader to look upon themselves as people who were improving their community via the stories they were reporting. The second was an exchange I had with the Professor on a then current hot political topic. It went something like this:
me: How can you say it [Graham-Rudman-Hollings] is enacting across the board budget cuts when it specifically excludes welfare spending and the military.
someone in class: Why focus on welfare?
me: I INCLUDED military spending in the exceptions
Proff: Mr. Gadfly, you should be in philosophy class not journalism. You are too interested in The Truth and not enough in what was said.
I was so utterly flabbergasted I had no response.
This mode of thinking, while certainly not initiated by Cronkite or Woodward and Bernstein was certainly reinforced by them. A lot of people still think it was our military that lost the Vietnam war. It wasn't, it was Uncle WaWa. The Vietcong had spent half a year pre-positioning supplies for what was supposed to be a massive strike that would overwhelm our defense of civilian settlements. It was a coordinated surprise attack which is now known as the Tet Offensive. In less than 3 days the South Vietnamese and US forces eviscerated the Vietcong who never again played a significant military roll in the war (after that it was all Northern regulars and Chicoms). Such a feat had never before been accomplished by a defending military. Yet when Uncle WaWa went on the air, he didn't report that. Instead he sided with totalitarian forces from the north and China and reported the US could not win.
Then Woodward and Bernstein forced Nixon out of office. Since then the media have never gone back to reporting the facts and letting American citizens decide what the actions of our country ought to be.
There ya go again, Tough Girl…. Trying to irritate the oh so committed and accurate reporting of our devoted MAIN STREAM MEDIA whose only interests are our spoon fed mouths…shame on you !
Psssst.. I was awake too.. Let the BOYCOTT begin !
Is it 5:00 yet? Is it time for Glen Beck yet?
Beck just said on FOX that tonights video will be from the West Coast, and it will take him the full hour to go through it. Break out the popcorn……………..
On knees with hands clasped in prayer…. PLEASE, PLEASE GOD LET IT BE IN PELOSI'S DISTRICT !
On September 17, 1787, 39 men signed the document they had labored, debated and prayed over for so many days. We celebrate that anniversary this Thursday. What a good day to write your elected representatives, both Sate and Federal and ask them to send a list of the Federal responsibilities as ENUMERATED in the constitution. Let them know that the IXth Amendment forbids them to CONSTRUE the constitution to take rights that are reserved to them and the X amendment protects State's rights (which is why it is important that your State Legislators know the LIMITS of the Federal Government.
The first ten amendments are the "BILL OF RIGHTS" all rights belong to the people, but the founders felt strongly that to much power in the Federal Government would lead to tyranny (Power Corrupts) so not only did they enumerate the power of the Feds, they wrote as follows:
AMENDMENT IX: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be CONSTRUED to deny or disparage others retained by THE PEOPLE.
The tenth amendment gives restrictions regarding Federal intrusion into the affairs of the States.
When you get your list from your representatives, check to be sure they haven't CONSTRUED some in that don't belong there and sent the list to the BIG DOG!..b.j…Tulsa.
I would like to see a day when MSNBC has no viewers. Does anyone know how ratings work? My understanding is from the Neilson boxes. Because if I don't watch MSNBC or CBS, nobody knows that. I guess if the advertisers find that people are not only not watching but boycotting the advertisers on these networks. I really think we can make a difference through the bottom line. I know for me, as much as I hate this I decided to not watch the NFL this year because of VICK. I also go out of my way to make sure I dont go to a movie with certain actors, (ie Janine Gargofalo). There were times when I liked to watch Real Time with Bill Mahr but cant do it anymore. The uneducated ramblings remind me of Olberman too much. I know it might not be much, just little old me doing these things, but I just cant take it anymore. I feel like I have to do something, do my part in a small way. We all need to pass on ideas we come up with to hit these people where it hurts.
This is great !! However I want to bring up a semi related topic that I fear needs our consideration.
This administration wants to shut down talk radio and Fox news…They also want control of the internet to be able to shut it down "in case of an emergancy"
We need to find a way to communicate without internet access. Otherwise the movement will die a quick death, and these people know it.
Any Ideas?
Gary, well, we could always use the US Mail. Oh, wait, that is another failed bankrupt government enterprise. And they want to take over health care………? Yeah, right.
Everbody need to contact that Slug, Jay Rockefeller from WV. Ring his phone off the wall, tell him to take the Internet Bill off the table, and not to pass it in the dark of night………….
Good morning Right! I carried this sign (while you were sleeping…) at the 912 DC rally and stood beside the CNN bus while the crowd chanted "Communist News Network" – so, I would wager, we aren't the only ones awake! Check this out: http://uslibertyjournal.blogspot.com/ – scroll down to One Patriots Story
Why do you think the government wwants to find a way to shut down the internet?
Interesting. Here's a speculative narrative: Citigroup, Freddie, Fannie, et al knew they were becoming insolvent so they funneled money into Obama's campaign via ACORN (possibly with the advice from top Democrats) with the express purpose of getting rescued via TARP.
BUT, don't forget that McCain (he probably got campaign financing as well) ran home to pass TARP and Bush pushed it through. There was a concerted effort by everyone in our Gov't to cover the banking system. Also, a lot of the money went to overseas contingencies of banking (e.g. AIG). this was scandalous.
This is one of the major reasons that Tea Party protests are continuing: our tax dollars are being used to pay-off the people who are paying-off our politicians. We can see that.
Question for the Editor: I remember hearing Hannah Giles say that she drained her savings to pull off this sting. Is there any way that those of us who appreciate what she (and James) did can help to replace those savings?
That's YOU ?? Whew..HOT ! Think you are a crowd pleaser…..chuckle…
Bernie Goldberg (http://www.bernardgoldberg.com) made a comment, last night, on the Factor. We should never refer to the "mainstream media" as "mainstream" again. Because I've seen it on this blog, recently, I'm going to use the term "legacy media", from now on.
Can you imagine what would happen to this story if there were no internet? I don't think the people would ever allow the government to put that genie back in the bottle.
Yes, the only thing "liberal" about liberals is that they want to be free to do anything to (or with) their bodies and, more specifically, their genitalia. Whether it affects anyone else, or the moral fabric of this country, is not an issue to them.
I can't understand why we continue to call ABC, NEC,CBS & CNN the MAINSTREAM media. They are not the mainstream any more. They are so far downstream they have reached the sewers. Lets change their moniker.
One hour and eleven minutes on the countdown for Beck…..radio.
LIBERAL FASCIST MEDIA?
Excellent article and the commentaries above are, typically, spot-on as well. The state-run media have clearly abandoned all efforts to even operate under the guise of "unbiased." They are all clearly in the tank with The Messiah and all of his alliances/brethren. As such, it has become (or, at a minimum, is becoming) patently obvious that with their efforts to protect "The One" (i.e., "their guy"), they have destroyed the shred of credibility they once had. Many have caught on to their game.
PoliCalc mentioned Bernard Goldberg referring to the state-run media as "legacy media;" an accurate characterization indeed. If you have not yet done so, definitely pick up a copy of Mr. Goldberg's book, "A Slobbering Love Affair…" I crafted a review of this book a while back within my own blog:
