Here’s the Saturday morning round-up on the Census Bureau story for the formerly mainstream media, checking out their home Web pages:
Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today, CBS News, CNN Sucks — story isn’t there. WashPost did run a piece about the Big Government expose’ in DC.
MSNBC, to its credit, posted a link to an AP version of the story near the top of their homepage. Some of the others above have the AP story too, but they don’t headline it on their homepages. This is significant because all the major news organizations have an auto-feed of wire service stories to their sites — MSNBC just took the trouble to link it from their homepage.
Fox News of course has followed the story all along, and the Washington Times ran the AP version.
And kudos to ABC News (top of their homepage) and reporter Jake Tapper. Unlike the other lazy and indifferent bureaus listed above, Tapper stayed on the story doing original reporting, crediting Fox News and Big Government for their scoops, embedded one of James O’Keefe’s YouTube videos in his story, and got a response that no one else did:

When we get rid of this present government, the MSM will be the next ones to kick to the curb, give’em hell America.
I would like to call attention to the fact the Michael Savage has been talking about the Van Jones connection with the Obama administration for months. Yes, I understand that Savage is controversial but he really did call this one a long time ago and, to my knowledge, nobody on the conservative side really ran with it. Let's give credit where it's due – regardless of what we think of the messenger. Peace out!

The ACORN story, a la "Advance the Cause of Child Prostitution? YES! WE! CAN!" at http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/... was huge amongst the attendees of the Springfield, Missouri, Tea Party. It was great to connect with them and it is wonderful that BigGovernment.com has come along to both break huge stories such as this and unite opponents of Big Brither in the fight for the preservation of liberty.
If this Movement is waiting for the Majors to come take a swing for them then this will be a no go Movement. The good news is that folks are starting to smell something fishy with this President and Congress. Folks will start looking and will find the Movement. The more people I talk too are waking up and do not like the direction things are going.
They know if the Government can't balance the check book soon, they will not have a check themselves. They also know that Medical Care for also sounds great. Just like an all expense paid vacation to Tahiti sounds great. Don't worry about the MSM. Be the MSM for the people that ask questions.
i hope so too… though, the group formerly known as the MSM could easily fall under the label "big government"… i mean, they are basically an appendage of the Obama administration.

The Obamedia are between a rock and a hard place. If they became more shall I say, "Fair and Balanced", the conservatives would not believe them and the Socialist left would crucify them as they usually do with anyone in their group that has an epiphany. As long as Obama and his Chicago operatives continue with their Socialist incremental scenarios, we may experience the joy of watching the mainstream media outlets slowly come under extreme pressure from their stockholders. Obama and his new world order consultants are in the same rock and a hard place boat as the mainstream media. We should all remember these people would sacrifice their own families for the agenda which is nothing less than a secular holy grail for them. These individuals are the epitome of the term useful idiots. Many of these Obama children remind me of arrested development adults with dangerous powers granted to them by a hidden elite never disclosed within the media. There are also many moderate Republicans who fit very well within this same disturbing scenario.

There is a sickness out there. A belief that news must be suppressed. That corruption is OK if Democrats do it. An understanding that protection of leftist politicians from exposure of unflattering news is more important than the news itself.
The MSM doesn't report on this because no one that really knows what is going on watches them anyway. And the ones that do watch are already brainwashed.

This is to recognize the function the press has to report truthfully about the events of the day so citizens can make educated decisions and to report on the excesses of government.____They are supposed to be disenterested observers in their reporting, not partisans who take sides. They can have editorial biases but the news portion of the media should be non-partial and supply all necessary information. They also should make every effort to present both sides of any incident. ____Bias can be demonstrated not only by what they report and what they fail to report. If they refrain to report what is obviously newsworthy and of value to their readers they are abrograting their protected constitional duties.____The press is there to give voice the interests of 100% of citizens, not just the 50% they have an ideological affinity to.
Big [old] mainstream liberal / extremist media is no surprise when it comes to covering for Obama.
I attended a Freedom protest rally in the small county seat of Caro, Michigan this afternoon. There were over 200 people who turned out. Multiply that by hundreds upon hundreds of USA cities across the nation — and, added to that, the Washington march. Now, we are not talking hundreds of thousands, but several millions and then some!
Will the liberal media report this? I haven't seen anything yet — nor, do I expect to. Instead, the liberal / extremist media trumps the measley 15,000 that turned out for an out of state Obama rally — since, he high tailed it out of [Washington] town.
To be sure the liberal / extremist media are sick puppies…………They will continue to attempt to protect Obama, because he is part and parcel of ACORN. Wouldn't it be peaches and cream to experience ACORN heavily participating in sinking Obama's political ship? That would be poetic justice……………….

Even more damaging than biased reports is what newspapers called the budget meeting. This is where the editors would get together and budget the space they had available for news stories. I assume TV news does the same with their time slots. As they assigned that space, or time, they could effectively spike stories simply by arguing to themselves that the story wasn't newsworthy enough to bump another story. Much more than just slanting stories, they could ignore stories entirely.
When the established news media was the only game in town those budget meetings were of huge significance.
The real power of the new media is that it has rendered those meeting far less significant. Regardless what the editors think, they can't starve a story any more. They can decide that ACORN shenanigans, or tea party protests, or the thoughts of Swift Boat veterans aren't worthy of coverage on their pages, but blogs and talk radio can decide otherwise. And so the NYT budgets their space in one way, BigGovernment.com budgets theirs in another.
As I said in an earlier post, I can't remember the last time a water-cooler conversation concerned an MSM story. All last week the people I know sure were interested in the pimp, his hooker and ACORN videos. The market decides.
Of course they are going to ignore this. They've all but ignored everything that matters about Obama and his radical, socialist and criminal brethren from day one. This clearly illustrates how vastly important the conservative website, bloggers and media (i.e., Fox) are…and why The Messiah seeks to sua sponte gain control of the internet whenever he so chooses.
Keep it up! We cannot and must not relent!

My wife was telling me of the movie, “Snake Pit.” As, more corruption mounts for Obama, his ACORN, et.al — there will undoubtedly be liberal Democrats scrapping to look better than their corrupted brothers. They will begin to crawl over each other. Perhaps, Reid, Pelosi, Rangel and Obama will find themselves, smothered on the bottom…………We can only hope so, as I desire my country to be returned to some semblance of its patriotic tradition, so that the founding and framing fathers, can rest their bones from rolling over…….
We should call for a boycott of the local affiliates – if the car dealerships that sponsor the local news haven't already been bought off by Obama. Take it local, make it personal. One of the more entertaining ecxamples of that is the CNN video floating around today.
It starts with a reporter in a studio banging on about Joe Wilson calling Obama a liar. Now, wasting days obsessing over Wilson is silly enough, but what CNN does next is absolutely gobsmacking in it's insanity. They cut to a reporter in the midst of the Washington Tea Party protest to ask her to talk about Joe Wilson. Talk about missing the story in front of your eyes. The result is hilarious.
Really, what CNN producer thought ignoring the protest to whine about Wilson was a good idea? Didn't they realize it made CNN look like a pack of clueless idiots?

CNN caused panic yesterday with their story on the Coast Guard Training Exercise, and the comments of "shots fired"; HOWEVER, when it comes to a Government Funded, and Even sponsored group like "ACORN", they completely avoid the story, the facts, and the overwhelming evidence of fraud and corruption. ACORN is headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. They have been investigated time and time again with few resultant prosecutions. Perhaps this recent "Pimp and Prostitution" Operation will change things insofar as Government Monies and Funds being paid to a group(ACORN) that assists others in breaking the law. The poor in New Orleans are still poor, and nothing much changed in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina; so answer me this question: What in the hell does ACORN do with all of the money the U.S. Government gives to them? It certainly is not being spent on the people that truly need it. At least the Census pulled the plug on having ACORN assist in counting "the population" of the United States.
I've been thinking of that [impeachment] possibility. But in order for that to happen, there has to be a hugh turn-around, come the 2010 midterm elections. And, that only leaves 2 more years for the Corruption-in-Chief. If he can keep sandbagging with the eligibility "Thing," he might be able to hold off being thrown out of office.
But the best thing that can happen, is for the balance to change in Congress [2010] to make BO a lame duck and to roll back much of his extremist foolishness……….

Fox News is the best of the MSM out there, but even it is constantly trumped by blogs. Seriously, I read things on Conservative blogs that come out WEEKS before they show up on Fox News, and YEARS before they show up on CNN. The new media is totally pwning the old media. Who wants to watch a scripted half-hour news show about crap you don't care about spun up as if it's pudding when you can go online and read what you want to read in 5 minutes?
Apparently, the answer to that question is: All the people who no longer watch the MSM.

It used to be a land of opportunity for the working class, now its an opportunity for the low class through ACORN. Yes they CAN!
It seems to me that three things will probably happen (divided between two postings):
1. Acorn is starting to self-implode (with a couple of nudges from O'keefe/Giles)… I believe this is a much stronger and more pervasive organization than many realize, but will ultimately fail, due to arrogance. They should be required to answer for every improper act and their budget allocations revisited. Will the last one out please conserve energy by turning off the lights?
2. The 2010 Mid Term Election promises to be very interesting for all concerned. I believe that most of those who thought they embraced liberal idealogies…didn't plan on it going this far left. The arguments coming from the left are aleady starting to sound desperate and shrill. I don't know where to tell the MSM to go to find cover. What ever happened to the "Fourth Estate"?
3. Our Chief Executive will hopefully not be too disappointed to find he served only one term. Americans are finding that it is far more important to posess management skills than an ability to campaign. I believe that all sides need to start looking for suitable candidates for 2012….right now. We need to move back toward the center and eliminate the corruption and the corrupt as quickly as we can. No one can dispute that we have plenty of both. We'll have a monumental job ahead of this country, undoing the damage occuring during the previous administration(s)….but we all know it's worth it. We have the Constitution to fall back on, to pull us though.
Is Jake Tapper the last mainstream journalist in America who is simply doing his job? Give him a raise and fire the rest.

I agree with several posters here. It certainly is NOT mainstream and it is NOT media. It' s elitist "We know best" Activism. Time to to call them out on this. I just watched the video on MSNBC of the Washington 9-12 rally. To my shock it was good media coverage. I could hardly believe my eyes and ears. I am going to write and thank them and ask why they are not looking into ACORN. Maybe some are starting to listen.
We have to find a way to put a stop to this and get ACORN investigated – it's OUR money and we all know they're criminals. Yesterday I ran across new funding for ACORN from FEMA – they paid $940,000 of our money on 9/04/2009! for fire safety (payoff)……………..AND somehow the payment is not showing up on the USA Spending website which is supposed to show us every payment made by a federal agency – something is very wrong here.

Its unreal how most of the media tries to use the ol' bait and switch on us. They don't report the things they should instead they talk about things like swine flu (33,000 people die of influenza every year). For them to not talk about or be enraged by Acorns actions or there affiliation to our government/President proves just how crooked they are. It is indeed s.o.p. for the state-run media; nothing new here. Ignore what's happening, spin anything they do feel like covering in a light most favorable to "their guy," The One. I wager more than they (i.e., the state-run media) think are hip to their game – even fellow statists admit as much. Also, judging from ratings alone, most of our citizenry have abandoned them and switched to Fox and other reality-based news forums (blogs, etc.).

You are completely right. There is no need for us to talk about how the big boys are not on our side. It is what it is, whining about it is not going to change the fact. We are the underdogs in this fight. But we are many and we are becoming more and more powerful.
So worry not about the MSM, you can change them about as much as you can change the tides. Just bring us and people great journalism, groundbreaking stories like the ACORN vids, and we will come and read and learn and be outraged.

If this is true as I have read on various articles regarding this event, why accept and gloss over this lie? I know that may be miniscule in light of everything else, however as a mother, I am a firm believer that one should not accept ANY lies without calling it out, period.
Therefore, either challenge the lie, or accept it as truth and then call them out for being unaware of a MAJOR event in DC and the multitude of failures that would accompany such a lack of knowledge.
Before everyone just tells me this is simple 'politics as usual' – I know that. Um, to fire the government, you vote the clowns out of office. To fire the MSM, you get a lot of people to stop buying products from their sponsors. Kicking to the curb is a nice but probably unachievable idea. What has likely worked against the story getting anywhere into the mass media may actually be the success it has enjoyed on the right-wing slopaganda machine. It can't be taken seriously if it takes the form of another COPS-type sleazefest. Which it does. That's why all the effort to bake ACORN in the spotlight is a bit off-target.
Remember the millions of dollars spent trying to bring down Prez Clinton? All of that effort and essentially the country backsliding while everyone was looking the other way. If you win and get the democrats out of power, please tell me there's more to the conservative right than trying to go after small crooks while the big sharks raid the country's coffers.
If you want to get power you have to look like a better choice than the other guy, and bringing down ACORN is pretty much squeezing a dry sponge at this point.

They were PAID CONSULTANTS for Fannie-Mae and Chase among others. I also saw a CNN story on a pro-public-option rally in Florida attended by a hundred or to union thugs, er…members. It was given several minutes followed with a glimpse and a terse coment about the thousands in the Capitol.
MSM will die unless socialism/govt interference puts it on unmerited life support via legislation mandating some sort of 'fair coverage.'

The MSM has really destroyed itself. Change does not come easy but they forced me to learn to link to other sites to look for news stories I had heard about and now it has become normal for me just to go to sites like this automatically for information. I never think to go to abc, cbs cnn etc now.
They should have remained neutral and stuck with "just the facts" and told all the news without bias instead of hiding or downplaying news they do not like. Who does that? Only ones I can think of are countries with dictatorships. I would have thought that journalists would have been the first to be shouting to the heavens about censorship but as it turns out the free press censored itself. How sad is that? But what an awesome opportunity they opened wide up to others to come and replace them hopefully fufilling what our Founding Fathers intended freedom of the press to inform and enlighten.
In another time and place this "tea party" movement would and should be all the rage headlines, editorials, picures galore interviews but little or nothing is shown.
I have a conservative friend who as of this Saturday was unaware of the Acorn issue and didn't know much about Van Jones. I told him I could tell he doesn't watch Fox News or read blogs and he said I was right on that. Our media might was well be named Pravda.
Harley, I do not disagree that this Congress and President are WAY out there on the intentions of what and why this country was founded on. But we need to slow down on the Gun thing. You know how long it takes to get quantities of ammo nowadays
And the people supporting this Congress and President are Progressives. All you have to do is to say BOO in a unified voice and they will move to Venezuela. War Won!
This is simply wrong. The press has no special rights under the law and it has no duty to give voice to anybody's interests.
This line of thinking leads directly to the government shutting down news media it deems insufficiently fair and balanced. Not a route we want to take.
