Census Bureau Severs Ties With ACORN
by PubliusThe Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.
“Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts,” read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.
“Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership,” the letter said.
The news follows the firing Friday of two more ACORN employees after new hidden-camera footage showed workers for the group advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute how to subvert the law.
ACORN had previously been tapped to help with low level data gathering for the 2010 census. A copy of the director’s letter has been sent to Congress and relevant committees, as well as ACORN.

Congratulations to you folks. WOW! That was fast. What a way to break into the public consciousness with a new website. Obama's attempt to involve the crooked racketeers at ACORN in the US Census could have had the potential to drastically corrupt our electoral system through the redrawing of congressional districts (which is obviously why he tried to install those crooks in there in the first place.) Knowing the O administration, the ACORN thugs will just be 'reassigned', but at least now they are on everybody's radar screen thanks to your outstanding work. Kudos again!

I'll tell you guys… this is as big a win as I ever hoped to see. This is MONUMENTAL. When you consider the kind of damage that widespread selective counts could have done to congressional districting and electoral votes, then this is simply breathtakingly good news.

I just watched NewsHour on PBS and not a peep about ACORN, but they sure had a lot to say about Joe Wilson. Let's get this right-FOX news is not biased-it's the only news service that will actually talk about the news of the day. All the other stations are the ones that are shilling for this administration! While we're on that subject-I did not just not vote for Obama-my vote was against the entire administration! A website is up for TWO days, and already cut acorn out the census, and given us ammo to demand to an end to wasteful funding of the same corrupt organization. Write your letters folks, reference Reps Boustany and King, let your representative and senators know that you know about this corruption. And your vote counts. Just firing the acorn employees isn't enough. The would just be sweeping it under the rug. Stop the tax-payer support of corruption. Investigate. Who in the administration and congress knew what and when they supported the funds going to this corruption? Anything less is a hollow win.

Oh yes, I already sent an email to my Rep (Chris Van Hollen) asking for a Congressional investigation into ACORN's activities and cessation of all funding to ACORN. I intend to keep it up!

Since billions are hard to grasp – an old story: A man gave his annoying wife (switch this to the gender preference of your choice) $1 million – told her to spend $3,000 a day and don't come home until it was gone. Alas, she was home in less than a year. Exasperated, he gave her $1 billion under the same conditions, and she didn't come home for almost a thousand years.
Think what $8.5B could do in the hands of small business folks / entrepreneurs from whom much of the employment gains are derived.

I was set to ask my census taker if he/she was from ACORN and if so, I planned on absolutely refusing to give them any info.

I applaud the actions taken today. Write to your congress representatives to demand an immediate investigation of ACORN dealings especially as they deal with obtaining sub prime mortgages. Demand an audit of the 8.5 BILLION dollars stimulus pegged for ACORN. We do have a voice and power. It is only starting!
