What Super Tuesday Told Us
by Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX)Though the five months between now and Election Day might seem like an eternity in politics, at least one thing is clear: Top tier Republican candidates are solidifying the playing field and ensuring that the GOP will challenge more than enough Democrat-held seats to put the majority in play.

As we enter the height of the campaign season, both the field of candidates and the issues at hand are becoming crystal clear and they all bode poorly for Democrats. A significant number of Republican candidates in targeted races have cleared the final hurdle before the general election. They are now ready to dedicate the next five months to holding their opponents accountable for an agenda that has been entirely ineffective in stemming the tide of a devastating recession and, in the eyes of many voters, has actually made the situation worse. Combined with a political environment that grows more turbulent by the day, Democrats will be on the run from now until November.
GOP CANDIDATES ALREADY CAMPAIGNING FOR NOVEMBER
With 50 percent of the country’s primaries now behind us, top-tier Republican candidates are already playing offense against Democrats in over 40 seats – a larger number than we need to win back the majority. These top-tier candidates have either already won their primaries or are on pace to win the Republican nomination, which will allow them to focus on their path to victory with an eye toward November.
Contrary to assertions that recent contested primaries have left the GOP divided, we need to look no further than last night’s results to see that strong candidates have emerged to give Republicans the best possible chance for victory in November. By-and-large the primary contests that have taken place have served to strengthen the respective candidacies of those like Robert Hurt and Scott Rigell in Virginia. In these districts and countless others, Republicans and independents are quickly coalescing around GOP nominees in a concerted effort to send Democrats a message on Election Day.
From a district-by-district standpoint, the numbers are stacked against the Democrats. The Cook Political Report has consistently predicted “a very tough political environment for Democrats come November, with severe losses likely, significantly greater than the average first-term midterm loss of 16 seats in the House.”
REPUBLICANS SURGE ON THE GENERIC BALLOT
An abundance of quality Republican candidates makes life difficult enough for establishment Democrats, but recent polling is even more troubling for the majority party. A survey released last week by the Gallup Organization revealed the best showing for Republicans on the generic ballot in the history of the polling firm. Republicans climbed to a 49%-43% lead over Democrats while also maintaining a 15-point advantage in voter enthusiasm. According to Real Clear Politics, this indicates an even wider advantage for Republicans once likely voters are taken into consideration.
Yesterday’s Gallup Poll builds on the anti-establishment mood that has been developing for well over a year. Sixty percent of registered voters believe that it’s time for new blood in Congress, representing one of the highest measures of anti-incumbency since Gallup began tracking the question. For a party that controls every lever of government in Washington, this predominant national mood will present serious problems.
ECONOMIC OUTLOOK: DEMOCRATS HAVE NO PLAN FOR JOB GROWTH
It’s not difficult to see why the American people are ready to give up on this Democrat majority. From day one, it’s been clear that the aim of their legislative agenda has been advancing political goals rather than presenting a plan to stem an ongoing economic crisis and put the country back on track. The failed stimulus, the National Energy Tax, the government takeover of healthcare, and a litany of unnecessary and wasteful spending bills all present a convincing case: This Democrat majority is either committed to forcing through an agenda that stands in the way of economic recovery or simply is not capable of creating legislation that eases the burden of spending and debt on the economy and puts Americans back to work.
Now, it looks as though House Democrats will refuse to pass a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Instead of creating a plan that cuts government spending, decreases the size of the federal government, and restores fiscal responsibility, Democrats have decided that they will continue spending at will – and they refuse to give the American people a blueprint on how their taxpayer money will be used. Despite the prevailing notion that the viability of the Democrat majority depends on the country’s economic outlook over the coming months, the Democrats’ election strategy appears to be pursuing business as usual and hoping for the best.
AN UNPRECEDENTED POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT
Adding to the laundry list of challenges facing Democrats as they attempt to hold onto the House of Representatives is a developing political reality that they refuse to accept. As they push forward with their unpopular agenda and runaway spending spree, Americans are left dealing with the consequences of a faltering economy. The national unemployment rate now stands at 9.7 percent, a figure never before seen in an election year. In fact, according to nonpartisan election analyst Charlie Cook, unemployment has never been above nine percent for an entire election year since the Great Depression.
The troubling mix of anti-incumbent attitudes, a toxic political environment, and a faltering economy means that Democrats are facing a monumental challenge, the severity of which may very well continue growing throughout the summer. Combined with a field of aggressive Republican candidates who will be able to spend the next several months holding the majority accountable for its reckless political agenda, Democrats will be playing heavy defense from now through Election Day. With five months to go, Republicans have established a foundation of candidates that will only grow as we continue our fight to retire Nancy Pelosi and take back the majority in the House of Representatives.

Now if the R's would just get to Washington and do nothing while there except repeal about 100 years of lawmaking.
Pipe dream.
Thank you for the break down Mr. Sessions and also for supporting the Fairtax. Make sure to tell all your new colleague's about it come November.. (hopefully hundreds of new faces God willing).
Mr. Sessions,
While I welcome the GOP surge in the polls, and while I am incredibly glad that the GOP is performing well in these elections so far, and while I congratulate you on clearly being victorious in your own primary (If there was one), there are still major problems within the GOP that need to be sorted out FAST.
The GOP failed to block Health Care Reform. While I recognize this is a difficult task to accomplish being the political Minority in both houses, the best you could come up with is that Obamacare = Bad. It would have been a much better strategy to present health care reform with a GOP Twist, that isn't a massive spending bill, and which doesn't burden hard working taxpayers.
I acknowledge that you may have had a different perspective from the House Floor, but from my view, the solution to the Democrats Derailing Democracy is to present workable solutions that the GOP can support on a united, fiscally conservative front. Then, even if it was denied debate, the Democrats would be guilty of two sins: Passing Obamacare, and passing up a perfectly good alternative.
The GOP needs to unite under new, fiscally conservative leadership. it needs to think 1, 5, 10 years in advance and consider what our economic needs are going to be, and what the financial ramifications are to the average American tax payer.
The Problem is not only the Democrats, but the GOP's failure to stop them. We have a government that is too big, that is too expensive, and we are out of money and out of time. The GOP failed to see this in the past, and it needs to begin the process of correcting that mistake NOW, so in November when fresh Republican faces join you in the hallowed halls of Congress, you are prepared to take the government out of the hands of Career Politicians, and put it into the hands of the People.
Best Regards, and congratulations again,
-"RS-VA"
All I can say is that I think you are putting too much faith in the brand and focusing too little on the character of the individuals you mention, Congressman Sessions. You back RINO's and closet Progressives at your own peril. Were I you, I would dedicate the next five months to purging these degenerates from the GOP if you want that brand to really mean something again. Conservatives are fed up with Republicans who can't decide where their loyalties lie. And, I tell you this as a conservative Republican.
I was just composing a similar post. So now, I will just say “Ditto”.
I didn't leave the Republican party. The Republican party left me. When they grow a spine and strap on a pair, they can give me a call.
Im going to say this just because its a pet peeve, not because i disagree with you, but i'm not sure the FairTax alone can fix the American system…
I think, if we had a balanced budget, it might do alright, but so would abolishing sales tax and using ONLY income tax (which, in my view, is a better system).
But thats not really pertinent
I'll check out that site and see if my understanding of the fair tax is wrong.
RS
The GOP had exactly what you're talking about posted on their site and all over other Republican sites for MONTHS during and leading up to the HC bill passing.
Each of their "solutions" were introduced in committee and WERE ROUND FILED as soon as the last sentence was read into the record. None of them made it into the bill.
You may still be able to find them on the GOP site. They were everything you said Republicans needed to say and do to fix health care. However, with ZERO MSM COVERAGE and utter dismissal by dems in committee, they died before they took their first breath.
Portability
Tort Reform
High Risk Pools
Even state run public option alternatives exploring various "models" to see which worked best.
MC reform, fraud prevention and stricter oversight
Those and many more, 7 I believe, were all over the internet for folks to look at. But as you pointed out, if the majority of members on every committee voted them out, down, or killed debate on them….what could the GOP in congress do?
A super majority ain't called that for nothin. In fact the House, even with a majority struggled to get that POS bill through. At the end of the day, the numbers were all that counted. Nobody was reading the Republican proposals and NOBODY was listening to voters. They passed the bill that was written a decade ago by Hillary with some added PORK.
Majority rule sucks when you ain't it.
I agree L4S, …. that's why the Tea Party's candidate's won over the others. We are supporting people with principles and values, and those who love this Country, and our Constitution, rather than rich political elites who only care for themselves. The sooner we drop the branding and focus on our Constitution, the sooner we can take our Country back. And after last night if they don't hear us by now, they are more dense than I thought.
I guess now we will see obama spending the rest of that stimulus money in the next 5 months. hundred's of millions of dollars will now be spent on democrat held candidates home turf in an attempt to "buy" votes.
Will the GOP ever ardently stand for anything anymore? Are we just supposed to believe that the GOP will be free of progressives after November? Doubt it…
We have had enough progressive pandering, on both sides of the aisle. We don't need progress, we need restoration. Is that so difficult to understand…? Was that a rhetorical question…?
See ya in November…
Great minds tend to think alike…
vacation money?
We must take nothing for granted….
Overwhelming the progs is the order of the day….
So they can't cheat and when they try it won't matter
Thanks for telling RS-VA about the GOP's plan. It sat ignored for months while idiots shouted "the GOP has no solutions". The GOP's proposal was simple, inexpensive and would have ben extremely effective I think. You and I know that reform that would actually help PEOPLE was not the real intent behind the DNC/Obama admin's reform though. The real intent was to reward the unions and go ahead with a gov't power-grab.
Sorry if I stole your thunder there, P2O! This article really set me off.
Geez, thanks for the info *facepalm*
I guess I got pwnt by the MSM? Either way, the healthcare debacle was ludicrous.
Thanks, Forgive the error!
That's right, and I think we should all keep our cameras ready and watch the graveyards. They may be up to their same tricks. Anyone caught in graveyards collecting names should be thrown in jail.
I agree that an income tax only system would work… (If it was set in stone). Thats the point, The current tax code is what 80,000 pages long? And it changes (or morphs) every election cycle, (soak the rich Dems and Tax cut Repubs) amendment here… sunset there, its to the point now where nobody really understands it.
Check out the fairtax… It may not be the answer but it sure is better than the nightmare we have now.
I'm still not convinced the republican party gets it. Backing the likes of Whitman in CA who, in my opinion, is clearly left of center, tells me business as usual. Then the masses vote her in. This "change" may be slow going.
You got that right. I'm truly disgusted by the way the GOP has allowed itself to be infiltrated by these freedom hating commies (the Progressives). So far, I'm not even hearing them generally admit that this has happened. I find their lack of candor disturbing.
No sir. No thunder stolen. I will save my thunder for November and on, God willing. Chapped my backside a bit too. Sessions is a good man, just needs to respond to his bit. We say right, he turns right.
WSJ EDITORIAL: "The Alien in the White House"
"The distance between the president and the people is beginning to be revealed."
And like most "aliens," this one too can't produce a birth certificate. The Mac Daddy is the complete alien.
Ain't it the truth.
Business as usual, for the establishment republicans
People, this November BEWARE!
Look carefully at your candidates. Vett them! get together with 9/12 and other conservative groups, and work for candidates who will work for YOU.
I say "BEWARE" because in my districts, in the state congressional race, the local Conservative party nominated the LEAST CONSERVATIVE candidate of many we had to choose from. They did this WITHOUT the people's input! They made a backroom deal with the monied candidate instead of doing the people's will.
However, for the US Senatorial race, the Republican party of my state LISTENED to the people (who showed up at the GOP convention and were very vocal), and we have a GREAT candidate to take out Chuck Schumer this November: Gary Berntsen!
The moral: A "Conservative" is not always your friend, and a "Republican" is not always your enemy.
Now that you mention it, these damned politicians really are like a fractious horse, aren't they?
Call it, "Repeal and DON'T Replace."
Indeed! No oats before bed I say.
They should take care and not violate copyright law, snatching cartoon names as well.
As long as the Rinos get out with the Democrats / Liberals / socialist / progressives / communist..
It's time to break out the curved bit!
I guess this is a good place to post this video and please don't say that this is a dead issue and we should concentrate on current problems because this is where it all started. The fraud.
Tim Adams – Former Chief Elections Clerk for Honolulu, Hawaii speaks out at the 2.5 minute mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9fdsz1iqEE
Lest we get too giddy………keep focus on the prize! Talk is cheap, open your wallets and your clock, contribute both. Get behind candidates who will make a difference. We have now experienced government by the "smartest kids in the class" it hasn't worked out so well has it? Those who teach should stick to that profession and leave the work to those who have the spine and courage to open a business and build it into a "producer of Jobs", you know like a couple of dudes in Seattle that founded Boeing, or another guy from Seattle that founder Micro-soft, or that Texan that founder Del and the list goes on. Academia theorists and Community activists all survive on "Grants", that my uninformed lefties are Taxes paid by the workers who make the country run. An old saying,…..lead, follow, or get out of the way. The current crop has demonstrated they are incapable of the first two, it is time for them to do the third.
RS,
You aren't alone. We have all been BETRAYED by MSM and the dem talking heads. We didn't know because THEY DIDN'T WANT US TO. Even with this 8th wonder of the world called the net, you can still bury information.
Not knowing was not our choice….it was the only choice all but the most ardent were given. I didn't know either till someone on a message board mentioned it. I went to the GOP site and was frankly stunned. I too was getting mad at Repubs. But there it was in black and white for anyone to see.
Sickening and cynical the way Dems have so convinced us all that Repubs don't have any good ideas. Question we should be asking ourselves is not why didn't we see….but WHAT ELSE IS HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT.
Does the GOP have an employment solution laid out?
Does the GOP have a solution for paying down this horrible debt? (Paul Ryan's plan?)
Does the GOP have a solution for the Gulf oil disaster?
What other good ideas are out there, hidden cause we just don't know where to find them? Meanwhile MSM continues to misdirect us, chant cute little anti repub slogans, SELL BIG LIES to folks too busy surviving to spend weeks tracking down alternatives.
And if this is out there…..there are frankly enough MSM outlets now, finally, that the GOP needs to get off it's butt and start talking about them. Why aren't they?
Your original premise may point to something far more sinister. Maybe, so close to elections, the GOP WANTS Dems to fall on their collective buttz with their stupid plans, taxes, ideas, solutions so that just before the election or AFTER the Repubs can sweep in and propose workable ideas…..sealing the coffin on Dems for decades.
Self serving politics, but hey, a GREAT strategy for a cynic.
But if that's the plan I offer every name of every family who lost their house, their job, every dead BROWN PELICAN or Dolphin or hundreds of other species of sea creatures, covered in oil as a rebuttal!
If this is the GOP's ultimate strategy….to allow the suffering to build political momentum and capital…to hell with them, RS. To hell with them.
The Gulf could well DIE. The already endangered species of wildlife…literally dozens, could become extinct, and the spirit of millions of hard working Americans could be crushed all before Nov. To allow that to happen for political gain is an abomination!
I will NEVER let Repubs forget that. If they have solutions to these problems…they better whip them out RIGHT NOW or I will NEVER support them again. EVER.
Unfortunately, the only way they will balance the budget is to raise taxes. Few have the courage to do the right thing.
I read this thing twice. Not one mention of conservatism. Not one mention of grass root organizations helping the GOP regain power.
What was mentioned ?…”Republicans have established a foundation of candidates…” and "Republicans and independents are quickly coalescing around GOP nominees in a concerted effort to send Democrats a message on Election Day."
I don’t expect “red meat” out of every elected Republican…I do expect an acknowledgment of the organizations demanding a return to conservative principles and the greasing of the skids for a Republican victory.
I sense Mr. Sessions words express the typical party line: Thanks for the help, now go away. We have a government to grow and special interest groups to pay back.
no, the only way to balance the budget is to cut social welfare, and other redundant/unnecessary government bureaucracies, but no one has the courage to do THAT. Heads need to roll. no ones doin it.
RINOS won in California. I wrote about it on my blog if you are interested in a very dismal story you can click on my name and see the latest blog entry. It was not written in a great state of mind LOL so it's a bit of a bummer.
Term limits, we badly need term limits. Better yet, it should be every American's duty to serve a 2 year term in Congress. As long as you are not a criminal and between the ages of 25 and 70 you should be required to serve a term in office. This might keep the government from expanding and we might actually get some fiscally responsible people in every other election year. NO MORE career politicians please.
Until we purge the party of these Progressives, we'll still be on the road to serfdom. We can't just drop a gear, we need to STOP and turn around.
Right on "Fair Tax!"
One such plan that I support is included in Paul Ryan's Roadmap. Check out his proposals for health care reform:
http://www.roadmap.republicans.budget.house.gov/P...
Once we give you the majority, then what? …we’ll be watching, turn back into statist and you will be gone!
Both sides AND the constituency share responsibility for the mess we're currently in. Ask nothing of your representative you're not willing to abide by.
I think you need to see the fallacy of your own thinking. You can't make people listen until they are ready to listen. Sometimes that means hitting the pavement face first. As to Gulf, I have no idea where you are coming from in regards to the GOP.
Sorry to break it to you, Pete, but if that's what yesterday told you; you got it wrong. At least in the case of Rigell in VA-2. Strong republican candidates don't have to explain why they donated money to the Obama campaign. Rigell did!
He is a business as usual GOP hand picked candidate. Not only did he only get slightly less than 40% of the vote, he managed to lower my opinion of our new Governor who endorsed him in a six way race for the GOP nomination. The local Tea Party was going to sit this one out until elected republicans starting endorsing one republican candidate over another. 10 days ago the Tea Party endorsed Loyola who finished second but in a field that included at least one other Tea Party favorite. Between the two of them they garnered 44% of the vote.
There's a message there Pete, but it isn't the one that you're selling. Replacing democrats with RINO's is not what I'm looking for!
I agree with you there, but remember anyone running has to get elected first. Whitman is electable in California, but no so much in other states. I blame the California GOP for that. They sat on their collective azzes for decades. They have done nothing to educate or swell the conservative ranks here, instead the capitulated to the far left who incidentally controls the media. If ever a massive ground campaign was needed, it is in California.
As Ann Coulter said, don't count our chickens before they hatch. Consider the dirty tricks that acorn and the seiu will put in play – fabricated truth, distortion, innuendo, threat, intimidation, and fraudulent votes. These are all tactics the left has used successfully for years. Why should we expect anything less this fall. Battles are just gearing up. The race is on to save or put the final nail in the coffin of our Republic. We must get out the vote if we wish to survive and avoid a European socialist state. Personally, I do not wish to see our grand kids living under anything less than a Republic with the Constitution as the basis for our culture.
A plea to all vets and active service members. Help us to save what we took an oath to defend. Our worst enemy is within our current administration and congress.
Typical, taking my vote for granted, BIG MISTAKE buddy boy. I will vote libertarian in a flat out hart beat without hearing a plan other than I ain't a Dim. I am not alone either, dim and dim lite isn't going to cut it buddy boy!
Sure we can raise taxes to balance the budget, as long as we raise taxes from 0% to (any %) on the 50% of people in this country that dont pay taxes. Best way to do that is the Fairtax, everybody pays. There is no escape.
Obviously, Rep. Sessions doesn't get it and has completely misread last night's election results. If the Dems are going to be voted out, they would have lost both in numbers and percentage -wise last night, with vast numbers backing non-Dem candidates. DIDN'T HAPPEN. I've said for months that the idea of the nation turning against BHO is wishful thinking by the right. I wish it would happen, but it won't. The Dems will lose a few seats, but the Reps will not take control of either house. BHO will seize on this as a mandate for his socialist government and we'll watch our freedoms disintegrate. Sessions is the poster boy for representatives who should be flushed. Please, just shut up and go away. You are despicable.
iCaucus.org can be a resource.
However, they will vet and recommend, but their recommendation does not necessarily become an electable choice.
I agree completely, but you have to start somewhere. Admitting you have a problem is step one. I'm not seeing that widely embraced yet within the GOP.
All raising taxes does is fund new pet projects, while leaving the original problem intact..
New Jersey has it right…cut the FCSKING SPENDING…!!
They gained HUGE controls over their state spending when Chris Christie stopped up the oil well of money…
They better embrace it soon, 'cause the tinhat's claim that the two-party system is just a way to divide and enslave is getting some traction.
If they continue this soft tyrany, we'll have no choice, but to respond with a HARD Revolution.
Yeah, maybe so. But I've got news for them. So is a one party system or a three party system. These bone heads can't see the forest for the trees. All they'd have to do is look at England or Israel to see how 3+ parties screw things up. Or look to Cuba or China to see how they like a 1 party system. Idiots.
The other thing you could try is to let Whitman know she doesn't get the second term for free…
This is my approach…
"Candidate ____, you are the Republican for ____ office…I intend to work for you, talk with my friends about you, and I intend to donate to your candidacy…"
"But you are on notice…this help has a price…you will dedicate every moment to tax reductions, improving businesses working climate, government curtailment, personal freedom and responsibility, fiscal responsibility and efficiency; in other words, to make government small, financially responsible, and unobtrusive…while maximizing freedom and the wealth of all the citizens of this state.."
"Fail in that…and I will bounce you from that office, and provide all my support to the candidate who replaces you…and you should be assured, I will find someone, even if it is me…"
No compromise. Do it…or lose it…
YES, YES, and YES!
The fallacy might be there was little or nothing to "listen to." Did you hear Republicans talking about their HC plan….in concrete terms earlier than the big HC summit? I heard them say the dem plan was awful, would cost a fortune, that we needed tort reform, but other than that little was "said" which may be because MSM didn't carry their message.
Either way I think it's safe to say we've hit the pavement now. I was just pointing out that the actual written plan was on their website for almost a year. But folks apparently didn't know it was there.
Re the GOP and the Gulf,
They had a PLAN for Health Care on their website. A written, comprehensive plan.
Do they have the same kind of comprehensive written plan for the Gulf clean up? For better regulation of the industry? Are MSM and Dems just not listening? Has anybody read or heard it?
Again pointing out that a decision to let Dems twist in the wind over the spill for political gain is strategically smart but morally reprehensible. If Republicans have a comprehensive plan to bring to the table over the Gulf, they need to do it now, not wait till the election or after.
Does that make sense?
Got that right. The last thing we need is another party to split the vote…..again.
She made a lot of bold promises during this campaign leading up to the primary. I'm hoping she won't have a "read my lip's" moment and change her plans once in office.
like a good parent would do to children at the check out line.just say no.

The progressive assault against America has been going on for 50 years now. Think about that for a minute. Look at what the TEA party and conservatives have been able to do in just 18 months. We will win the war and America will show the world one more time why we are exceptional.
This process will include exposing the RINO. I know I am repeating the theme of several post when I say that the GOP's house will get cleaned. This election cycle is just a warning shot across the bow.
however good the short term outlook my appear where is the GOP Candidate for 2012 going to come from?
That makes better sense. No the Dems aren't listening and that is by design. Jindal and Republicans have been putting ideas on the table, especially for the clean up, and the Dems are deaf by design.
Take note that the media is so corrupt that Reps are having a hard time being heard, even with the internet.
LoLo……
argggggg!
I swear if this wasn't my busy work season I'd get in a plane and fly down there myself to help. Clearly neither the gov't nor BP are gonna do squat so I hope folks have figured that out and taken matters into their own hands.
This is horrible. If it was just "politics" or money, I could talk about it rationally. But that Brown Pelican picture will NOT GO AWAY! I can't stand to see the suffering of so much wildlife, so many folks whose livelihoods have just evaporated…
It's beyond all humanity. The continuing destruction of this beautiful habitat and these innocent creatures is too much. To think that money and politics are driving it makes my head explode.
I hope these people rot in hell. I really do. There is nothing too bad for them after this. Nothing.
I agree! It is heartbreaking!!!
Is Louisiana jinxed or something?
The fact that enviros are politicizing this further, and there by covering up their role in it, just frustrates me further. accidents happen, but it is how we overcome them that is the telling part!!
You read my mind!!! These fools in the GOP better cop a clue before the entire country looks like California.
Just to make your day before I gotta git some work done……
There are over a thousand rigs in the gulf. And many are BP. And probable most of them are ancient by industry standards. And obviously if the gov't regulators gave them a safety pass on the Deep Horizon…how many others got the same pass, are powderkegs waiting to blow out, have ANCIENT salt water eroded equipment on them…
you get the picture. We are smokin cigars in a fireworks factory.
Every day a rig doesn't blow up or out is just another tic of the "pushin our dumb luck" clock.
I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.
BTW, I hate the false characteristic "electable". It tricks many into truly throwing away their vote, I think. Honestly, a candidate is only electable once he is elected, right? Enough people get behind a candidate based on message or proven results, and if the votes are there…
I agree with you. I don't care WHAT party a candidate belongs to; if they are truly conservative and will honor the Constitution and the will of the people, they have my vote. If they undermine the same, they are to be wrested from power.
Ask nothing of your representative and you're likely to get just that!

Electable in this case meant "had zero" statistical chance based upon funding, media exposure, etc. Specifically, Naritelli was a gubernatorial candidate that iCaucus endorsed, but never rose high enough to really compete. It just shows you the republican party is still calling the shots.
Sgt Relic, you got that right, replacing Dems with Rino's is not a win…It's a draw!!
He is reluctant to give a shout out to the Tea Party or 9/12 for their contributions to the Republican victories on Tuesday. That raises concerns about the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
This conservative ascendancy will sweep out some of the GOP leadership.
I don’t think anyone is safe. Not even members with a multi-million dollar war chest.
It'd be a big mistake for the GOP to allow itself to be deluded into thinking that we LIKE them. We remember how they disappointed us years ago- it's what allowed the Dems to ascend to power. I dropped my party affiliation and switched to "Conservative". BUT… It will be always up to us to STAY VIGILANT and rid ourselves of Republicans who stray from conservative principles. It's up to us to vett candidates and pressure our party chairmen and committeemen to do OUR will, not theirs.
As long as we remain on watch, and engaged, we will not have to suffer fools for long.
I HATE term limits. It's the lazy way out. Stricter measures against gerrymandering, yes. But there should be no substitute for an attentive and actively involved citizenry.

With all due respect, although I like the wave photo with the story, the surge is from the right, not the left.
It should be flipped, like the House and Senate. It's not a GOP wave. It's millions of voters rising up and demanding accountability and respect, rather than unchecked growth of government beyond all reason just to perpetuate the power and agenda of career politicians and progressives who think that more government is the answer to every perceived issue. We still believe in the power of E Pluribus Unum – the many, not "the one". http://www.SurgeUSA.org
