Democrat Civil War: Going to the Mattresses?
by Paul A. RaheBack in mid-June, Leslie Gelb floated an idea in an op-ed piece that he published in The Wall Street Journal. After the midterms, he argued, when Robert Gates resigned his position as Secretary of Defense, Hillary Clinton should be given the job in preparation for making her the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2012. As a booby prize – Gelb spoke, of course, in more flattering terms – Joe Biden could be made Secretary of State.
Apart from fact that it requires one to suppose that a man known as “loose lips,” notorious for blurting out the first thing that comes into his mind, would make a decent Secretary of State, Gelb’s suggestion made a certain amount of sense. President Obama was no longer popular; Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill had a considerable following that would be far more likely to come to the polls in 2012 if she were on the ticket; and it had long been obvious that Barack Obama held his Vice-President in contempt.
With these facts in mind, in a post back in July, I noted the criticism leveled at President Obama by erstwhile supporters of Hillary Clinton such as Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and James Carville. And I then raised the possibility that President Obama might seize upon the occasion of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to catch her father at a time when, as everyone knows, a man from Arkansas can deny no one a favor and that he might then close the deal suggested by Gelb and get the husband of his Secretary of State to call off the attack dogs unleashed by the Clinton family.
Soon thereafter, however, I learned that Chelsea and her intended – the son of a former Congressman convicted on 31 counts of bank fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud and known to law enforcement agencies as Fast-Talkin’ Eddie – had chosen not to invite the current President of the United States to their wedding. In an update to my post noting this ominous fact, I speculated that this might mean that Slick Willie, Fast-Talkin’ Eddie, and the Ragin’ Cajun were planning to go to the mattresses.
In the last few days, three events of interest have taken place, which throw light on the maneuvers taking place. Soon after Bob Woodward of The Washington Post reported that the switch envisaged by Gelb was “on the table,” Joe Biden announced that Barack Obama had asked him to serve again as his running mate and that he had agreed to do so. Then, Obama himself described his original selection of Biden as his running mate back in 2008 as “the single best decision I have made,” and Bill Clinton made it known that, in the next two weeks, he hoped to do at least one campaign “stop for everybody that helped Hillary run for president.”
If you want to make a quick killing, you might want to lay in a mattress or two – for early next year there may be a run on this item. It is, of course, possible that the Clintons have their eyes on 2016, but I would not rule out 2012. Hillary is no spring chicken. The clock is ticking. And the Democratic Party is going to take a terrible pasting on 2 November. Next to no one in the party apparatus, apart from those who owe their jobs to our current President, is happy with his performance right now. How will they feel on 3 November? If they think Obama a liability, I cannot imagine that Hillary will tell them that she is no longer interested in becoming President of the United States.

they are in panic mode for sure. the clintons are stirring the pot and lay in wait for the kill.
While they mark their trees, we will be taking the country back from the brink of destruction. The progressive movement will be a dot in the history books (real history) and it will be no more. Politicians will all be held accountable and regardless of the trickster Clinton’s gamesmanship, they will be eviscerated as a political movement.
They are willing to destroy this country before they let us take it back. This is not over…..
This Progressive bowel movement is coming to it's end. Over the next few weeks, the exposure they will receive on their true intentions and the destruction caused will be the beginning of their end. Mrs. Clinton will need to become a centrist, but she has already laid her grave with all of her supporting speeches and actions on Progressive-ism.
The Obama's and the Clinton's can't fundamentally change their Elitist goals, and now that the American populace sees their true intention, neither could get elected secretary for Del Boca Vista retirement homes.
If anyone in that camp is an expert at going to the mattresses, it would be Slick Willy.
Hell! He probably has volume discount status at Mattress Warehouse to go along with his volume discount status at Fidel's Cohiba factory.
Hillary needs to take a lesson from Rush-

Having the Clintons in the mix is like having a built-in 3rd Party, splitting the Socialist vote, further demoralizing the hapless party of hopeless chains, and ensuring Republician power, hopefully Conservative
Hillary lost the 2008 Democratic nomination despite the fact she and Bill spent years stacking the deck because she lacks charisma and personal warmth (at least the sort conveyed to strangers over a camera). If she wasn't married to a popular former president, she would never have been a serious presidential candidate.
If the Democrats seek a new nominee in 2012 then I am pretty sure the nominee will be some charismatic person out of left field (probably a governor) not Hillary.
Conservatives, don't stop after Nov 2. We need to drive the Clintonistas into the sea as well.

You are correct, not even close to being over. It will take generations to watch carefully for the infiltration of progressive ideology. We will have to take our schools back, city, state and federal government as well. It will not be overnight or in one election cycle. We must hold our employees to task and provide pink slips when they decide they know better for us than we do.

The only way Obama can help the Democrats is if he resigned, with Biden, after the Republicans take the House.
Perhaps but I don't think he has it in him. This is an angry man and woman we have in the Whitehouse. I think that only in desperation, would he consider moving to the center and only with bile in his throat. His posse will ensure that he stays on message for fear of retribution from the base. They are well aware that the core of that base has no qualms with the use of violence.
As bad a human being Bill Clinton is on some fronts, he always remembers his friends. He's out there helping them. They don't go under the bus like Pres. Obama's. I'll go 50% in on the new tinfoil hat trade. Hillary Clinton is not completely satisfied with career arc, and Bill may want a 2nd act somewhere. Perhaps, once more, as a governor.
Caution: Hillary is not that far from Obama politically. She will want to finish the job he started, while blaming him, the past-president, for any mess left behind. This is no game. The left plays for keeps and disavow the damage they do. And damage is all they do.

After Nov.3rd Democrats will be insane with rage at the Obama/Pelosi/Reid establishment. The incumbents that lose their job will have two months to sow the seeds of mutiny.

I've been voting since the 1970's….. I don't recall ever having a sitting president get taken on by anyone else from their own party. This will be very interesting……. if we survive the next two years.
We have not started this fight I will be damned if we are not the last ones standing when it is over. They may have control now but that time is running out for them.

I think the Clinton's time has passed. They just don't know it yet. The TEA Party movement has shifted the tectonic plates of politics. Hillary's possibilities are:
1] Challenge Obama for the nomination. That will alienate about 90% of black voters, and even if she wins, she loses in the general to a Republican.
2] Her last gasp will be in 2016, when she'll run against a one-term Republican if she's nominated. She'll lose, and enter the history books.
Then again, the world could end on 12/21/12.
We have a great many examples how well the lead chuckle heads makes his decisions regardless of the will of the people and not one of them has been any good for the people or the country.
As long as the people sitting the elected seats view the seats as more important then what is good for the people and the country we will continue to have a political elite that believes they can do what ever they want regardless of the will of the people.
If she wasn't married to a popular former president (who got his popularity by stealing Conservative Ideas from the Republican Congress they both helped put in) – she's still be back in Ark working as a low level partner in a low level law firm.

The Clinton's are the head one of this nations' most notorious criminal gangs. Without the political power Bill and Hillary both would be serving life sentences. Even before "Whitewater Gate" they were involved in helping the Colombian drug cartel to drop cocaine at a small landfield in Mena, Arkansas when he was governor. His brother is a convicted felon for cocaine possession. Many people came up missing or dead who crossed the Clinton's. He has the smooth charm of a snake but the bite is deadly.
Certainly, their daughter Chelsea marrying into a criminal gang should not surprise anyone.
That's why we need to throw them behind bars!

We need to remove all those that are Repubs/Conser in name only so that they are not associated with the right. There are to many wolves in sheep clothing already we do not need to add more.

She still has lots of followers that think she was cheated out of her rightful coronation as the First Female President. It is the only thing the Rev Jeremiah Wright ever said that I agreed with ! I have spoken to a "Hillary Girl" that worked in her Wash DC campaign office. They felt cheated and they hate Obama.

I have no doubt robert that they will not go quietly. However, I just read in the SF Chronic this morning that 25% of the people who voted for Obama here in the Bay area are going to vote Republican. That is a "huge" indicator that even with MSM touting his agenda, it is failing miserably. We cannot let anyone forget what they have done. Scurry back into the darkness all they want, we still have their "actions and policies" which will be the "Raid" which they cannot defend to the majority of Americans who despise this Administration.
They tried too much, too fast. The only thing I fear now is not this election, but lame duck and potential civil unrest. If the American populace does not remain calm, he will declare a state of emergency and then all hell breaks loose.

I'm actually of the opposite opinion, Huc.. if there's one thing that the Clintons are MASTERS of, in particular, Bill, is getting the pulse of the populist movement. And Hilary w/Bill could be the best thing to insure a one-term presidency for Obama.
I could see Hillary (and to a greater extent, WJC) using a tea-party type atmosphere to her benefit. But it would be ABSOLUTELY dependent on her hubby being a major part of it. She's still seen as an "elitist", he's not.

The problem with Barak Obama is that he cannot handle the pressure nor the criticism of high office. Now, I had my disagreements with George W. Bush, but one thing he did that I respect:he treated criticism of himself and his policies like water on a duck's back. Not so with Obama. Every criticsim he receives he takes it personally and attacks those same critics. This shows that he is not secure with himself and that he is thin-skiined. That is a tragedy for all of US.

I worked with a woman once (she was my director) who always had an empty desk. Not one piece of paper on it; not even a pen or pencil. She had an MBA yet couldn't relate it to the real world. Walked around wielding a big stick looking for someone to blame when the fit hit the shan. Universally disliked by her peers. Talked the talk like Obozo, using carefully placed pronouns to give the indication she'd been involved in things she hadn't been for another company, which got her hired at the company I was at. She ended up in way over her head and spent more time trying to find someone to blame than she did learning her job responsibilities. Another Peter Principle candidate just like Obozo.

On my desktop I used to have Clinton related files and links that would make your head spin. I just clicked on the link above about Meghan McCain. Didn't read the article, but glanced at some of the comments. One said that Meghan and people like her would be leading the Republican Party in 25 years. Heaven help us all if that ever happens.

But Bill and Hil covet power enough that she would move to center just like he did after 1994. She would rather be a two term President than push an agenda.
Obama said it himself that he would rather be a great one term president than a lousy two term one. The man just doesn't understand that not getting a second term is the same thing as Donald Trump saying "You're Fired." No such thing as a great one term president.
