Global Warming, R. I. P.
by Paul A. RaheWhat is the most important issue facing the American people today? Until late last Fall, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Henry Waxman, the presidents of our major universities, and the editors and reporters at The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, Time, The New Yorker, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, WNBC, and the like – not to mention the scientific establishment in the United States – were as one in telling us that global warming was a profound threat to our well-being and that of the rest of mankind. And John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and sadly, in the end, a hapless George W. Bush were willing to lend the hysterics a measure of aid and comfort.

In the United States Senate, the indomitable James M. Inhofe of Oklahoma was very nearly alone in standing up to denounce the whole enterprise as a hoax, and in turn he was himself denounced by all right-thinking people as a scoundrel and a fool. There were, of course, scientists proficient in meteorology who entertained grave doubts, and some of them made a great fuss, but they were soon denied federal funding for further research, and young entrants into the profession quickly learned that if they wished to have successful careers it was incumbent on them to join the chorus who denounced global-warming skeptics as lackeys of the fossil fuels industry. The global-warming cabal was to the liberal democracies of our time what Trofim Denisovich Lysenko and his disciples were to biology in the Soviet Union of Josef Stalin.
When he became President, Barack Obama pledged to “roll back the specter of a warming planet” and “restore science to its rightful place,” implying – graceless as always – that the administration of George W. Bush had suppressed inconvenient scientific truths in the interests of ideology. In fact, Obama seems not to have understood what he was saying, for a specter is “an apparition inspiring dread,” and it is one of the principal functions of science to dispel illusions of this very sort; and, instead of debunking “the specter of a warming planet” and restoring “science to its rightful place” thereby, he embraced that specter and sought by way of inspiring dread in the American people to railroad his compatriots into subjecting the entire economy to the supervision of the administrative state.
One could, of course, argue that President Obama did not know any better – that, like Senators McCain and Graham, he believed the propaganda spread by the global-warming cabal. Such a presumption cannot, however, be sustained. By the time that our President left the United States for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen this past December, it had become clear that that the work done by the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, which formed the basis for the four reports issued by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), was a sham – that the data was doctored, that the computer simulation was a fraud, and that systematic efforts were made by the most prominent climate scientists to corrupt the peer-review process and suppress legitimate criticism: all for the purpose of imposing a strait jacket on the world economy. In Copenhagen, President Obama could have acknowledged the truth: that some of the most prominent climate scientists had betrayed their calling, that the global-warming hypothesis remained, in fact, unproven, and that the reports issued by the IPCC provide no basis for the making of public policy. He could have recommended that there be further study, that the raw data collected and the computer code written be made available for inspection by all, and that research funds be apportioned equally between those who assert and those who deny that we are threatened by anthropogenic global warming. He did nothing of the sort, of course, and it was only thanks to the stubbornness of the Chinese that we have been spared the submission to the Senate of a treaty designed to hamstring the American economy. Even now our President remains committed to the passage of a cap-and-trade bill designed to achieve that end and to the use of the powers of the Environmental Protection Agency to a similar end.
In the meantime, the scandal has deepened, as claim after claim included in the putatively authoritative reports issued by the IPCC have been proven groundless. The posture of the mainstream press within the United States in the face of all of this is arguably the scandal’s most shocking aspect. We are used to being lied to by politicians: Barack Obama is a recognizable type. We have encountered his like before. But the press, however partisan any given newspaper or television station may be, is supposed to be vigilant, and it is in its interest to be vigilant.
We buy newspapers and magazines, we watch television news and listen to radio programs because we want to know what is going on. Very few of us are apt to be satisfied with a press no more informative than was Pravda in the heyday of the Soviet Union. This scandal, worldwide in its proportions and profound in its import, was ready-made for enterprising reporters, and, to be fair, they have made their mark . . . in foreign countries such as Great Britain – where The Guardian, a left-wing daily firmly committed to the global warming hypothesis, has nonetheless distinguished itself by the vigor it has displayed in pursuing evidence of scientific fraud in this regard. None of the news outlets mentioned in the first paragraph of this essay has pursued the story. At best, long after the facts have come out, they have noted their deployment by the global-warming skeptics. Were it not for the editorial pages of The Wall Street Journal, Americans who limited their purview to the mainstream media would have hardly a clue as to what is happening.
This is, of course, part of a larger trend. The mainstream press has largely forgotten its function, and these days it flacks where it used to report. It is this that explains why fewer and fewer Americans subscribe to newspapers and magazines and watch the television networks listed above. And this explains why the internet has been such a boon. But, this fact notwithstanding, we are in a pickle – for, to date anyway, none of the operations on the internet that report the news have the resources requisite for pursuing such a story. We are, in fact, dependent on the foreign press.
Witness Der Spiegel – a German imitator of what Time was like when we still had newsmagazines in the United States. In its current issue, one can find a lengthy and devastating survey of the state of climate science entitled Climate Catastrophe: A Superstorm for Global Warming Research. It is a must-read: meticulous, cautious, and intelligently skeptical. Its authors do not claim that there is no such thing as global warming. They suspect that something of the sort may be taking place. What they insist on, however, are the limits of our current knowledge, the attempt by a politicized profession to pull a con, and the economic and social dangers associated with making radical shifts in public policy on the basis of unfounded speculation. We can now be confident that the global-warming hoax is history – for, if the pious purveyors of environmentalism in Germany have lost faith, the game is up. I doubt, however, that any of the politicians, press outlets, universities, or scientific journals associated with this scam will backtrack. My bet is that they quietly change the subject and that the perpetrators of the hoax get off scot free.
But this leaves one question unanswered. Why do we have to go abroad if we are to be well-informed concerning matters of public policy pertinent to our own well-being? Someone should put that question to those responsible for news content in the mainstream media. If they want to survive, they had better wake up.

Now Algore just spoke at Dook University. I am sure they are more focused on Basketball than the manbearpig. He became camera shy and kept cameras out of his presentation. Algore makes up power point slides and says they prove the climate is warming and a more rapid rate.
Who believed in "Global Warming" the first place? Seriously.
About time to start see some perp walks isn't it? Gore leading, followed by Jones and Mann. How many trillions have been scammed out of countries around the world from this fraud? BUT fear not! The loonydems are still going to get cap & tax passed. YES WE CAN! (screw the people)
Global Warming, Climate Change, or whatever one wants to call this Environmental Hoax that has largely been sold and perpetrated upon the general populace by Al Gore, David Blood and thier co-conspirators at, and from Goldman Sachs is the most important issue of our time. Defeating it, that is. It is larger than Health Care, and will touch and affect every man, woman and child in America, and the world. The market is estimated at somewhere between 5-35 TRILLION dollars. Nobody knows for sure.
Al Gore.
He also believed he was the duly elected President of something once upon a time. From that day foreward, he slipped into the abyss, and has never fully recovered.
Wait until Hollywood stops promoting it. Then you can consider it dead.
Loved your dissection of "roll back the specter of a warming planet."
But I'm afraid the "RIP" is a little premature. I won't make the obligatory "vampire" references. I'll simply point out what someone said to me about how lies have to pass from what's considered established truth: the people who make their money from the lies have to die (and yes, I mean from natural causes).
It would suit me if Al Gore became a pauper.
I can't believe that scoundrel tried to become a carbon billionaire off the backs of working peoples' wages!
I just about hate him.
saw recently where an "independent" panel in England determined that the folks at the CRU did nothing wrong. no fraud, no obstruction, no suppression of opposing views. yup. all innocent. nothing to see here, move along!
I submitted this to Digg, at http://digg.com/political_opinion/Global_Warming_...
it may be dead but it is NOT buried- yet…
Understand the Narrative requires 'climate change' (nee global warming) to exist or the whole shebang starts unravelling. If Gaia is 'sick'- and it is humanity's fault- then all things totalitarian are possible, including the 'culling
of the herd' advocated by Bill Gates and John Holdren.
You must blame humans, then strip their wealth and starve them of resources. THEN the so-called 'elite' can rid the world of 'useless eaters' (Henry Kissinger amongst others) and THEY can control who lives where and gets what.
As the old Top Sargeant used to say: 'If people REALLY knew what this bunch was up to they wouldn't just throw them out of office- they'd throw ropes over lampposts and string 'em up'…
"Why do we have to go abroad if we are to be well-informed concerning matters of public policy pertinent to our own well-being?"
That sure is an excellent point.
I have asked it for years. This is America. We have the best and the brightest minds in the world. Why do we need to go abroad to the University of East Anglia (just what in the hell is that anyway?), or listen to the United Nations, or some Indian who writes soft-core porn and accept their word as gospel?
We need to bring our business home.
Isn't it strange how we had the Electoral College all those years, and Al Gore never noticed until it became an "inconvenient truth"? I mean, everyone in the political world has known, for generations, that it's possible to win the popular vote, lose in the Electoral College, and the other guy becomes president.
Yet, ol' Al intoned that stupid phrase like a mantra: "Ah won thuh pop-yoo-lur vo-ote." (Notice that "vote" is a two-syllable word, in AlGore World.)
Yep, Al made a bid for the big time, but G.W. Bush snatched it out of his hairy manbearpig paws. Then, he made another attempt at stardom and got sunk by plain old common sense. Life's tough, and that's a fact.
If I could speak to him today, I'd say, "I hate it fuh-yuh," and make sure he knew I was lying.
It's not dead. It never existed. Only the victims of our progressive education, who believe everything they are told, thought it was real.
Many were fooled by the Piltdown Man hoax.
For charlatans like Gory, it was a path to billions of dollars. Shysters like him would not exist in a truly enlightened world.
The only warming we have is from Satan, who is in control of things these days.
NASA research proves that the Earth is warming. NASA research proves that Mars, Jupiter and Pluto are warming. What factor could be common to all of these planets? Solar output, perhaps?
Can't help but get the image of Obama, Gore and others fighting to get to the bow of the Titanic, spreading their arms and screaming, "I'm King of the World!"
I'll believe Global Warming is real when I believe Liberals are tolerant.
Lord Christopher Monckton says it all right here…

The whole GloBull Warnings thing got traction 'cause nobody wanted to go on record as saying it was BS.
NOW when they see the crack is in the dike they start coming out to pull it down.
When America finally comes to a collective realization that the Emperor has No Clothes, then OBambi will fall like a house of cards. I just hope there's a country left worth saving.
DTOM!
http://RightWingStuff.com
I will not be satisfied until I see Al Gore being chased by a polar bear in a Subaru commercial. Until that day I will continue to argue with idiots who still think me eating a friggen hamburger is going to kill their child.
…Good-bye, and Good Riddance…
…and take Pachauri, Jones, Mann, the UN IPCC, Cap n Tax, and Albert the Fraud with you to the netherworld…
Al Gore has done as much damage to our economy as the 911 terrorists did.
Both have caused us to do very costly things that are non productive and are just over reactions to fear.
That's Europe for you! Socialists all the way!!
That's the Democratic mantra…
Under our Enlightened "metaphysician" THE ONE, the rest of the world is now waking up to the fact that they are now on their own to fix their own problems so they better get busy moving away from Socialism as the answer to all their "social problems". The trend that is obvious is that on the present path we Americans will no longer be the only Country left in the world to "save" them from their Tyrannical governments. Hopefully, through the sheer determination and will of all freedom-loving Americans we are setting an example once again of the greatness of a Democratic Republic where the people have the power–not the Government bureaucrats. It seems to be time for people all over the world to embrace the "American Model" not the "European Failed Model".
This hasn't disappeared. Just like health care kept rearing its ugly head until it passed. Cap and Tax as well as card check are going to be rahmed through the same exact way. If objecting to these socialist programs makes me a racist in the eyes of the average MSM viewer, then by God I will wear that label with pride.
Rich,
Have you ever stopped and wondered, just where in the hell the University of East Anglia was, or is, and who they are? Would that be akin to getting a doctors degree in Granada, or a law degree in Haiti? This is America, we have the best and the brightest, we put a man on the moon. Why should we accept some local yokel honyocker's opinion on anything? The East Anglia University is working hand in glove with the United Nations, and we all know what an upstanding organization they have become.
Nope – it's my SUV I drive every day!!!
Good grief Mr. Rahe.
All those words and no mention of the Banksters. Ever think that not only do Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan (and those pulling their strings) have the Congress in their pockets but also "Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Henry Waxman, the presidents of our major universities, and the editors and reporters at The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, Time, The New Yorker, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, WNBC"
Let's not forget Ole' Soros.
Who stood to gain? Follow the money Sir. Shining light on the cockroaches is hardly doing this crowd a service. Preaching to the choir.
Yes well, watch what our fearless leader does this week with climate change.
Don't be suprised if he sneaks in some climate change BS in his energy bill.
It is never over for them until they have complete control over all of our disposable income.
Let's see now, I am a racist, a moron and a greedy capitalist and Gore is a prophet.
What happened to the truth America????
Where does lack of respect for science come from?
So far, the only group of people in the world to display grotesque arrogance and lack of respect for scientific organizations are the Young-Earth Creationists. YEC’s believe the earth is only 6000 years old when in fact about 40 different lines of scientific evidence all corroborate each other and prove that it’s closer to 4.5 billion years old. As far as the science goes, these people are off by a factor of 750,000 to 1. It’s like asking someone how far they think the moon is from the earth and they tell you it’s 3 miles away.

"Why do we have to go abroad if we are to be well-informed concerning matters of public policy pertinent to our own well-being? Someone should put that question to those responsible for news content in the mainstream media."
Better yet, someone needs to ask that question to President-in-exile Al Gore. I'm sure he will pull the appropriate answers out of his "lock-box". Quite frankly, he needs to bend over, place his left hand on his left ear, his right hand on his right ear, and pull his head out of his ass. He is suffocating himself.
yes, but only when he fires up that projector for his powerpoint slides……..
The "climate scientists" are still employed. They are still spending grant money on world travel and lavish luxury. So are the nature-mag green-porn writers and photogs for a few hundred Science, Nature, National Geographic clones. So are the producers of television green-propaganda.
They are now saying, "We'll just start over, since we now realize that the data was flawed. This research is (as always), vitally important, and for the children. Gaia still hangs in the balance, and we ELITES need to take your tax dollars in the form of grants and boondoggles, so we can DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Yup, we'll continue to live our lavish luxury-resort globetrotting jetsetting lifestyle on YOUR BILLIONS, only this time we'll do it right. Just give us your money for ANOTHER TWENTY YEARS, and we'll eventually prove to you that we need to do it all again. Except THIS TIME, we want DOUBLE the money you threw at us for the last 20 years. See, the problem was, we didn't get enough of your billions of dollars the first go-around, which is why the data was flawed. We just need more money. It's important. It's for the children."
FU ALL. Every last one of you. You want to prove Global Climate Doom, do it on your saved dollars from working at REAL JOBS, you elite pieces of dog ****.
Thieves, all of them.
One of the reasons that most so called news organizations do not report this is because not only does it not fit the narrative but it is in direct conflict with the narrative of so many other things they cover. Another more fundemental reason is the very lack of understanding on the subject of any scientific or technical subject. The press always have their go to guys to explain things to the great unwashed masses but these so called experts always bring with them their own biases and objectives.
A real reporter would see this as the story of the century. Was there a co-ordinated effort to profit from this? Who knew what and when? Why were we so easily duped? I could go on but you see that just trying to answer any of these questions could be a lifetime of work and recognition.
President Obama and the democrats will still try and pass Cap and Trade and will use the blueprint of Healthcare Reform to do it if we are not careful. The temptation to drive the final nail and gain total government control of everything will be too tempting to resist.
We are at a crossroads right now and have already made the wrong turn. It is still possible to put on the brakes and back up a little to correct our course but if any type of energy controlling legislation is allowed to come into existence the jig will be up.
JlnOH, "scammed out of countries around the world". true, but I am more concerned about the
massive shift of industry to 3rd world countries, costing Americans jobs. This hoax has been
job-killer to the inth degree & no one seems to realize such because it happened so gradually,
one industry at a time moving to India, China & other countries, out of the oversight of our EPA.
That must be one heck of a commute.
Xactly nolo, as recently proven by the re-emergence to the public stage of Ms Priven.
Amen to defeating it, CL– I agree that it would dwarf the amount of intrusion on our daily lives that the health care laws represent– let's hope that there's enough opposition left in Congress who are willing to fight this one– by whatever means necessary– if the Obama EPA feds and/or globalists had their way, we'd all end up paying a tax/user see/insert your favorite euphemism here, just by either breathing, motor exhaust, or rectal emissions………..
"R.I.P." does not apply here.
Are there any Climate "scientists" working the drive-thru at McDonald's yet?
Nope. They're all still living the "Conde Naste Traveller" lifestyle, stealing our money to do so.
I've been saying this from the beginning! They don't want to discuss causes for which there are no solutions, even though the cause is patently obvious. It's all about the Benjamins.
Excellent and informative. There is both a positive and negative side to this lie. The negative creates a mistrust of science and questions who to believe. This type of lying has slowed progress for centuries. We are not where we could be as a species because of this. The positive is that the world scientists have been caught in a lie, guided by their own greed and self-aggrandizement, and we now know the the scope of lying they are capable of. They are on notice and being watched. This also has a tendency to tease true scientific research away from the control of politicians and self-interested lobbyists. The "Green Machine" has a monkey wrench thrown in it and the Green Guys did it to themselves, to our benefit.
Why do we have to go abroad if we are to be well-informed concerning matters of public policy pertinent to our own well-being?
Becasue the left's machine has indoctrinated the MSM. Like the Star Trek borg they've been assimilated.
We are no longer given the facts in order to make up our own minds. We are given spunk'd kool-aid so that we act as pawns of the Overlord. We are told what we need to know. Great example is NObama's US tour, telling us how great the NObamaCare will be for us, when we already hate it and know we will suffer. If not for the interent, FoxNews and bloggers we would already be a communist country.
"Where does lack of respect for science come from? "
It is caused by lying scientists who lie to keep their pockets lined with Gubbment Grant money! Just look at the Empirical Evidence!
CL,
Info is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_East_A... It seems their reputation has (rightfully) taken a huge hit from their involvement in this issue.
& cashing in on mondo Gvt grants for their 'studies'. How does one disqualify oneself from
this process?
Lots of earth quakes lately, expect Al to get on the band wagon and blame them on Shell Oil.
if they actually belived it, they are dumber than rocks.. the people who said and and the people that believed them should all hang from the ropes… the gene pool doesn't need the morons..
Once again the author unwittingly answers his own question:
"But this leaves one question unanswered. Why do we have to go abroad if we are to be well-informed concerning matters of public policy pertinent to our own well-being?"
"There were, of course, scientists proficient in meteorology who entertained grave doubts, and some of them made a great fuss, but they were soon denied federal funding for further research, and young entrants into the profession quickly learned that if they wished to have successful careers it was incumbent on them to join the chorus who denounced global-warming skeptics as lackeys of the fossil fuels industry."
There is no right/smart/correct or proper way to do "big government".
Money is power; power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. The various levels of government control or "influence" how much of our money and economy? And we wonder why we are in this mess?
An aside: Oblamer has now upped CAFE standards for the automotive industry to 35mpg by 2016. A 40%!!! increase!!! Do our oh-so-wise "leaders" ever stop to consider how this is to be accomplished? Where the technology will come from? How much it will cost, and whom will bear them? And what new tax will be imposed to make up for the lost revenue from the gas tax if they "succeed" in getting us to consume less of it? And finally, do any politicians or a significant portion of the population understand that policy by whim makes for a VERY unfavorable environment for investment (i.e. -employment!). Who is going to risk their money when higher taxes are coming and regulations by whim may make what was a viable concept suddenly no longer profitable? How many times will you take a risk in such an uncertain environment? We are in for a long ride folks…
"culling of the herd", sends shivers down my spine….I think I am going to do some research on Gates today. I believe we are not out of the woods yet with this crap either. They will shove it down our throats exactly as they did the Health Care Bill.
"Why Wouldn’t You Trust Climate Scientists?"
Because they are LYING……
But he's being serial.
Maybe the planet many of you seem to be on has no ACC, but Earth does. Sorry, but global warming is real, and mankind is contributing to it.
The recent scandals have really called into question the global warming data. Too much politics, not enough science.
http://www.PoliticalCentrist.com News and views for independent voters
Very true.
Nice imagery!
You mean like the Global Cooling of the 70's and 80's that NEVER WAS…..???
Stop drinking the Kool-aid.
You mean like the Global Cooling of the 70's and 80's that NEVER WAS…..???
Stop drinking the Kool-aid.
Oh they still believe it and do not expect hollywierd to stop promoting it as they have no talent to make any decent movies that aren’t remakes or spin offs from comics or hate America movies or the latest feel sorry for blacks movie even though 90 % of it will be lies. So I think they have just begun to crank out the next array disaster movies, so far we have THE CORE , which was a man made disaster and 2012 which is of course and I am probably missing some as I do not watch much that comes out of america hating commie scum land and until I see actors that don’t hate this country in movies I will continue to boycott them.
Somebody also needs to tell the History channel it’s a hoax because I just watched a show the other day that was SO pro man made global warming it made me sick, even making comments about “red algea ” that is completey caused by man made global warming and that it corresponds with the plagues in the Bible turning the water into blood, they actually made the comment. so they won’t let go of this easily, but the truth will eventually prevail.
I wish it would R.I.P. but I’ll wait a while to mourn if you don’t mind.
Al never believed it. He was in it for the $!!!
We are all going to freeze!
RIP? Does this mean I can start using more than one sheet of toilet paper again?
Then why is the antarctic ice mass growing genious ? maybe you and algore can combine notes to explain that or why there are more Polar bears now than a hundred years ago. Or why last year was the coolest summer in decades or why all the real data obtained be the real scientist shows the planet IS COOLING.
I think you need to change you handle, you not very smart and somebody may mistake me for you.
And by the way WHAT planet are you on/from, just curious.
Is this a tale of two Jims?
Totally serial.
ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC will not ask Al Gore any difficult questions. We should give a Prize for the first " MSM report " that does ask Al Gore a difficult question.

You must be real popular with the ladies….LOL
Climate change IS real. It is cyclic, the earth warms and it cools. That is why we have had ice ages and non-ice ages. I think the impact that mankind has had on the climate is negligible in the grand scheme of things.
Cheryl Crow digs me.
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice…….
The new Al Gore book signing requirement; a getaway car.
God I love this site, people who understand how the government works…you got me, I left that part out to get people hopefully to investigate this further…
LOL
I love how when you tell a liberal that global warming is a load of BS, they ask you if you're a climatologist. No, but neither is Al Gore yet his word is Gospel on the subject. All you need is your junior high science to know that the earth has always been changing and your experience as an adult to instinctively know when someone is trying to con you.
I want names.
I want this on their permanent records.
I want there to be consequences.
Those nitwits from the 1970's who were scientifically "convinced" that we'd be in an ice age by now got off Scot free. They continued to hold their research and education positions. They continued to be taken seriously by mainstream media outlets.
Not this time. We is on the Internet, folks. There has to be a consequence for perpetrating a fraud that has already been more costly than anything about which Bernie Madhoff could have dreamed. There has to be a consequence for the damage caused to responsible, dissenting professionals – harmed for speaking truth in the face of sheer propaganda. There has to be an equal and opposite education effort to inform our youth about what TRUE science is and how it is SUPPOSED to be conducted.
I want names. That way, if your local university employs one of those lying d-bags to conduct so much as a vinegar-and-baking-soda-volcano experiment, you'll know – you'll be able to call them up and have them booted lest you take your tuition dollars elsewhere.
There is still much work to be done – just because one aspect of one colossal power and money grab (with socialist dreams of world-wide redistribution of wealth) has failed does not mean that it is over. They'll just move on to the next item – declare some complete nonsense to be a Capital "T" Truth – and get all the usual Leftist suspects on board. Rinse and repeat.
Yeah, amazing how little that big, hot orange ball in the sky gets ignored by the global warming crowd. You can feel its effect on your won body as it crosses the sky but apparently it doesn't affect the earth.
They have a little bit to improve upon. That Kyoto nonsense was 0-98, in favor, in the Senate. Zero.
Pulitizers used to be acquired in that fashion.
Now they're often as meaningless as your average Nobel Peace Prize.
There is a short list of people, when encountered, to whom I would simply and silently give the "finger". He is one of them.
Howard Dean is another.
As long as it is not According to Jim – that would simply be too much to bear.
[...] More: » Global Warming, R. I. P. – Big Government [...]
Who among us is arguing in favor of "Climate Stasis"? Nobody I've ever met.
Yeah. The climate is changing. Been doing that forever. Most of the Earth's life has featured a climate inhospitable to human (or any other life form) existence.
Who is to say that any given "climate" is the "correct" one, anyway? Seems pretty darned conceited, to me.
As far as man-caused? Puh-lease! They can yap all they want about auto emissions and cow farts, but it is all absurd. There's a giant, bubbling cauldron or twelve in Hawaii, alone, that spits out more "bad gas" (real bad gas…sulfur compounds and whatnot, not plant food CO2) than the entire population of the United States during any given period. I am also still waiting for evidence of Martian S.U.V.'s and cattle causing the warming trend on the Red Planet.
Funny how all the normal "rules" about ripping on a professional woman's appearance, clothing, and make-up went out the window when Katherine Harris had the audacity to do her job as prescribed by law.
Self-loathing types are usually amusing to me.
However, when we're talking about people that hate, um, people (as a race)? It's no longer funny.
Given the events of the last several months, I'd sooner trust the objective opinion of your average cosmetologist over a "climatologist". At least you can be more certain that the hairdresser isn't trying to use the issue to secure absurdly large (infinite?) grants, permanent research/teaching positions, or just good ol' fashioned global socialism.
You da man wldbil! I love your stuff!
Mike; Don't throw in the towel yet; It's just starting to get interesting!!!
AL GORE THE PATRON SAINT OF IMMACULATE DECEPTION!
And by pure coincidence, the only way to stop global warming is to embrace the same socialist policies that liberals have been trying to foist on us for decades.
Excelsior!
You certainly picked two deserving candidates for the finger treatment.
(Both of these sorry sacks of feces are white, and the Dims + Media still dare call us racists. Amazing! I'd be willing to bet that racists are less well represented in the Tea Party than in the Democratic Party. I'd take that bet as a raw number or as a percentage.)
Good comment!
Fundamentalists who believe the earth is only 6000 years old do not read their own scriptures. Genesis 1:19 says the sun was created on the fourth day. How long were the first 3 days of creation without a sun to define the length of a day, or a year for that matter? And nowhere in the scripture does it say how long Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden before being cast out. They were immortal in the garden – no death. They could have been there for billions of years. We just don't know. Have to accept some things on faith and reason out the rest according to science.
Anyone with knowledge of basic earth science believed, and still believes in global warming. It is man-made global warming that has been the hoax. Without global warming, we would be under a few hundred feet of ice in New York, and most states north of southern Kentucky.
If you ask me, the larger problem than CO2 emissions, per se, is the deforestation and excessive paveing over of verdant lands.
I don't believe anyone has proposed a mechanism whereby 90% of the earth's vegatitive growth can be disturbed with no resultant effect. Something has to change.
Exactly! When you test atmospheric gas levels levels directly above one of those "bubbling cauldrons" its going to be skewed. Period. As for Mars, there are no cows on the Red Planet, don't be absurd….it was the spotted owl that caused Mars to heat up and dry out!
Lorben, "culling of the herd", but only in the USA, we must send food & medical resources to
frickin' 3rd world countries, trying to save the uneducated savages. Dr Savage is right, Liberal-
ism IS a mental disorder.
Does Bill Gates actually wish to live among the unwashed masses of a downtrodden USA?
Must be 'excessive wealth guilt'.
I kid you not, on pjm there was an article about some egg-head doing research on giant
screens to be deployed in the sky, not sure which strata of the atmosphere, been a while.
Wonder how much Gvt grant money some Lib-prof has milked the system for that study?
Ditto!!!!!!!!!
As far as Bill Gates goes I have found nothing to support dcase's argument yet…..still looking! I did find a scathing article on Gates by Salon.com against his not spending money on Global Warming. The Gates Foundation instead is donating to worthy causes:
"With about $30 billion in assets as of January, the Gates are targeting U.S. education, childhood deaths, malaria, polio, AIDS and agriculture in poor countries."
http://www.salon.com/news/environment/feature/200...
I strongly suspect even though Gates has become cozy with this administration, there is still a leaning towards free market principles. This statement makes me believe this is true:
"On their Web site, Bill and Melinda state that if "scientific and technological advances" are focused on the problems of developing nations, "then within this century billions of people will grow up healthier, get a better education, and gain the power to lift themselves out of poverty." Bill and Melinda go on to make Pollyanna, Pangloss and Paula Abdul seem like realists:
" We're so hopeful about the potential for rapid progress that we've decided the foundation will spend all its money in the next 100 years. In this century, our world has the opportunity to fulfill the great human promise that all lives have equal value."
The coziness may be due to trying to survive this black hole of an administration….just a thought.
