What Did Obama Say in his State of the Union Address?
by Paul A. RaheThe State of the Union Address that Barack Obama delivered last night bore little, if any, resemblance to the speech that, in my opinion, he should have delivered. The actual speech was, in fact, all too typical of the genre. It ran for an hour or more, and it consisted of an interminable laundry list of putative accomplishments and proposals. When, near the end, the President said, “I don’t quit,” I found myself thinking, “No, surely! But I very much wish you would.” In the course of an hour, I felt as if I had spent three weeks listening to the man. I very much doubt that I was alone.

Seven things stood out.
First, at no point did Barack Obama acknowledge that the promises that he made in campaigning for the so-called stimulus bill have gone unredeemed and that unemployment has continued to grow in a fashion that, he told us, it would not.
Second, much of the speech consisted in self-praise that, in the grim circumstances that we now face, seemed out of place.
Third, despite what the Climategate scandal has revealed concerning the dishonesty of those who have shilled for bills like the cap-and-trade measure passed by the House of Representatives, the President insists on our basing American public policy on discredited science.
Fourth, our President is still telling the same old lies concerning the healthcare reform measures passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives; and, despite everything that has happened, he intends to push for their reconciliation and passage into law by one means or another.
Fifth, he intends to raise taxes on the investing class — both by means of imposing a tax on the large banks and investment operations which will be passed on to those who make use of the services they provide, and by allowing the tax cuts introduced by President Bush to lapse for those making over $250,000 a year — and he has no appreciation for the role which the investing class, if not denied the rewards for which it has incurred considerable risks, can play in creating new jobs and fostering prosperity.
Sixth, Barack Obama has a vast array of programs that he wants to put in place, and he provided no information as to how these would be paid for.
Seventh, he is not in any way serious in the arguments that he makes for fiscal prudence.
I doubt that President Obama helped himself or his party with his State of the Union Address. A year ago, such a speech might have done him some good and would have done him no harm. By now, however, too many people are aware that they are being had. If anything, his decision to continue pushing his signature measures — cap and trade and healthcare reform — is likely to wreak havoc on his party in November.

Good article Mr. Rahe,
What I heard him say was: "I'm stressed and you people are pushing me. You better back off".
Odd, psychologists advise against pushing unstable souls over the edge, sometimes they won't come back. This unstable guy has nuclear capabilities. Of course, so does Achmedinijad.
That picture of him looking in the mirror at himself says it all. His sole focus is on himself. This man feels much as a dictator would feel, self important. His actions against the Supreme Court is dispicable for the office of the Presidency. It shows his utter contempt towards the constitution and the balance of power for which he appears in oppostion to. We are now 1 year into this long slog of a battle with a President who feels that the Executive branch is the lone ruling branch of our government.
He is still in campaign mode, and doesn't understand that, when you LIE about everything you say you are going to do, nobody is going to believe you when you tell the same lies, using different words…He really does thin that the American people are stupid..Scolding the Supreme Court, in front of the entire world, just makes him look like the bully on the playground!
cowboy i agree with you it was just same ol same ol lies
He is nothing more than a pretty face on the podium. Even those that elected him admit they were in awe of his speech. So basically you have a figurehead in the position of POTUS who will say anything that is written for him by speech writers and do nothing.
Well…I made it through most of it. I found my self switching between the SOTU and SpongeBob Square Pants to find some reflective sanity.
His speech was, just as many of thought it would be, full of rhetoric and nonsense. Heavy on self praise, and shy of any real substance. His speech writers certainly had a good idea of what the people may have wanted to hear…? He failed to fool me, as I believe most Americans, with his continual perpetuation of lies he cannot seem to come to terms with. I found at no moment was their ANY reason for there to be laughter during that speech, yet there was, more than once. It just goes to show the mentality of the Democrats, and their crass understanding that we will accept what is presented to us. They can stand and clap, and cheer on the empty suit they praise so much, but the American people aren't buying it…Time to put your big boy panties on Obama, because you ain't fooling us any longer with your smooth talk, and condescending tone…You may be able to arouse the senses of your Congress, but you have a higher power to answer to Mr. President. And you know damn well who that is, and so does YOUR Congress…!!!
If you ask Obama what time it is…….get a second opinion.
Why would anyone listen to the maniacal ravings of a superfluous twit? Because he is president? I tried but all I heard was me me me and them. His solutions are ludicrous. His grasp of our constitution is unparalleled lunacy, which says a lot considering he supposedly taught constitutional issues. Everything he touches turns to, well lets say it isn't pretty or smells so sweet. BHO is a communist who intends to destroy the USA. Along with the rest of his communist cronies. Vote the ALL out, for none are worth a pinch of salt. Let the next batch understand that their oath of allegiance to the USA is punishable by death to traitors. We will see how many of the slime apply knowing thier lives are forfeit.
The emperor has no clothes. I think Justice Alito summed up the whole thing very eloquently… assuming he said what we think he did.
I had a hard time understanding him due to the big Ghostbusters-style overlay I tape to my television screen when he's on….
Of course he wouldn't give you the right time. The only way he would see a clock would be if it was in the same mirror as his reflection, so it would be a reverse image.
Is there any documented evidence that Oboner was really a constitional law professor? His obvious lack of knowledge of the seperation of powersleads me to believe this credential is as phoney as his other records
I fell asleep, I see I didn't miss much. From what I gather I could probably go back a gather sound bytes from previous speeches and get the same result…
Why isn't the left attacking Hillary Clinton? She's the reason the SCOTUS review campaign finance. Why aren't we waterboarding the wienie bomber? Who was the mysterious sharp dressed man that helped him get on the Christmas day flight?? What is the safe school czar doing?? Let us all refocus our energy on these things that seem to be forgotten and ignore Obama for a while. We can do more by investigating these bigger pieces than by spending our time on this decoy of a president.
I heard Obama say he was going to pony up 8 billion dollars for high speed rail.
I wonder, will there be nice factories at the end of the line, with billowing smokestacks, belching bone and ash?
I heard lies also… But only when his lips moved..
"Throwdown with Bobby Flay" was much better than the State of the Union speech.
You would think that any rational person would see that this country is not going to adapt to the policies of the progressives. Is he a socialist? I think last nights state of the union address says it all. And can you believe the tributes he gave to the europeans as though they had the best economy and Gov't on the planet. What world did this guy come from? It wasn't the United States of America. In the Democratic party they have a saying. "You Lie and I'll Swear it is the Truth, So Help me Marx." I wouldn't trust this man on anything he says. He did himself and his party more harm in one hour last night than in the entire year he's been in office. The common man is not stupid. I hope the Republicans are listening to us.
Cowboy…I live in Florida, and let me tell you ..I am STILL pissed off that $3 million dollars of OUR money went to make a tunnel under the highway so that TURTLES could have a safe place to cross the road!!! What I want to know is who is going to teach them to read the signs!!!
Was there any private industry he didn't threaten to Chavez?

Janet Napolitano using her body language summarized the speech. It was boring and regurgitated left wing talking points and platitudes.
"wake me up when he sits down"
It takes 3 ton of coal to make 1 ton of iron into steel. It gives off 4 tons CO2. The H.S. rail is a pork line from LA to Vegas. He can pay for it by gambling taxes.
Safe School Czar, Kevin Jennings.
Sorry, you left yourself wide open for that one, I couldn't resist.
He either hasn't really heard what Americans are saying and are concerned about, or he doesn't care. I believe the latter. He probably is under extreme pressure from Soros and others to complete the agenda he was "hired" to push through, so he's sticking with healthcare "reform" (what a joke), cap and trade, etc. This man is a danger to our country and our constitution. We have to keep up the pressure on Congress to say no to the socialistic policies Obama is trying to push through.
I was appalled by the tone of his speech and his cocky attitude. Huge turnoff and it just made me angrier. Sounds like it had the same effect on many, many others!
No.
I just heard the Rolling Stones on the radio, the song was 19th Nervous Breakdown. Check out the lyrics if you have never heard this song before…You may get a good chuckle…?
http://www.cduniverse.com/lyrics.asp?id=188251
You heard a different speech than I did. I watched him get in the face of the supreme court and senate Republicans and put them on notice that they will be held accountable to govern.
I hadn't heard that Iran had nuclear weapons. And when they do get them they will find what the rest of us have known for 60 years… if you use them your civilization will be destroyed.
I was lost it when he said that "He cut taxes" and "Economists from the the Left AND Right said without the recovery act we would be in a depression" REALLY?! What conservative and/or right leaning economist said those things?! When and where were taxes cut?!
I heard Barrack railing against banks and business.
I wonder, who is going to jumpstart the economy? Government? Yeah, right.
We've heard fishing stories that are closer to reality than Obama's State of the Union
One more comment…he explained his health care "reform" legislation AGAIN to us like we are so stupid that we don't understand what the bill will do. He basically said the same thing, word-for-word, that's he's been spouting for the past year. WE DO UNDERSTAND what the bill will do…expand government even more, allow goverment to intrude in our healtcare decisions, allow government into our bank accounts, force Americas to buy something they may not want, determine who they think should get continued health care based on age, value to society, etc., AND WE DON'T WANT IT!
And the blame Bush thing again…really? Sorry Obama, but you own this mess now! You've spent more in one year than any other president in history. You OWN it! It's all yours!
He calls "tax cuts" all the expansion of the negatives taxes (welfare through taxes) programs like Earned Income Credit and such.
He skipped the national security and the two wars. He sounded like a peace time President that cares about education mainly.
Thank god that's over! I listened up to the point that he started talking about those "Bad old Banks" and "I inherited this". First save them then villify them? Why save those bad oud banks in the first place? This is capitalism, or used to be. If you try and fail at least you tried. If you try and fail and someone gives you assistance to sustain you that's OK too unless after you pay them back they hold their assistance against you or continue to insist that you owe them. (this is a really good case for never lending family members money, better to just give it to them)
PLS remember that if we start eating the rich eventually anyone not on the dole will be on the menu!
Sounded like this guy is running for president!!!
OH Wait.. HE IS THE President…
Soros only makes money when countries run hyperinflation. His closeness to Obama and his friends worry me.
Amen. I heard him saying "me, me, me, me….it's your fault I can't do what I want to do…"
I say push him over the edge. The more insanely he behaves the better the Tea Party will look.
I hope someone in the chambers has a fire extinguisher. Some day soon, the pants of many will be erupting in flames.
I heard it was measured in either/both Al Gore Foot In Mouth Pounds or polar bear poop.
After watching BO last night I am convinced more than ever that he & his Coconspirators are H**l bent on destroying this great Nation as we have known it.
Harry Reid was yawning – Obama's speech couldn't energize even his own crowd. Pelosi was jumping though – is she on extra caffeine or something?
He was too busy camouflaging he and his partys failures and so was his party.
Hillary avoided the horrific backdrop yesterday. Smart gal!
Funny to watch him pointing fingers @ Scotus & the GOP and telling them to "DO as I say & not as I do".
He believes in that cap-n-trade crap. Obama does not realize no money will be able to reelect him.
Narcissistic personality disorder is a condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, need for admiration, extreme self-involvement, and lack of empathy for others. Individuals with this disorder are usually arrogantly self-assured and confident.
Vulnerability in self-esteem makes individuals with this disorder very sensitive to criticism or defeat. They may react with disdain, rage, or defiant counterattack. http://www.mentalhealth.com/dis/p20-pe07.html
Speaking of Algore, has anyone noticed he is strangely absent?
You Lie – Part 2
What records?
That fear is relevant.
His speech didn't surprise me much. The pundits were out there saying he was going to reach out and move to the center but I knew he was going to double down on his agenda. That along with the anticipated blame Bush theme interlaced in the speech put Obama pretty much where I expected.
The man just doesn't get it. America is rejecting his agenda. The majority don't want socialized medicine, cap and tax as well as not wanting his non-working "stimulus" which is now disguised as a jobs bill.
What stood out to me the most was his outright lies in the speech. History has shown that he speaks one thing and does another when it comes to items such as fiscal responsibility and transparency within the government.
"What did Obama Say…?" Not very much, and he said it for an hour and 10 minutes!
Throwing Down on Radical Agenda, Obama Challenges Voters to Year-Long Rap Battle: http://www.optoons.blogspot.com/
[...] speech screamed of desperation, and the voters have seen through his facade. Obama’s speech last night was an attempt, a failed [...]
In a nutshell, he chose his radical progressive supporters instead of the American people. Nothing has or will change. He is an extreme narcissist (not a good thing in any powerful office), therefore ignores anyone that does not idolize him. Every incident will be twisted so all criticism is deflected away from him. Look at his speech in Ohio. (People are still angry at Bush) He is impenetrable and expects his party to follow him over the cliff with smiles on their faces. He also is an elitist and thinks the American people are too stupid to understand and if they force-feed the agenda to us we will eventually thank him for it. In every speech he gives (last night he said "I" 97 times) these two characteristics come out stronger and stronger. Last night he gave us a lecture with no passion, as if we were all thick-headed school children.
The American People will just have to reply louder in the coming elections.
Jim Cramer on Mad Money has been blasting Obama and the administration for being anti-business. Cramer said what Obama doesn't realize is that wall street IS main street.
let's see he lectured the GOP and got a few boos, not everybody stood up at his every sentence, he dissed SCOTUS and a judge was caught on cam saying "definitely not true", reid was caught on cam yawning, the focus group on Hannity pretty much trashed him with the exception of two libturds and 87% of those texting in rated his speech a "failure"….way to go obami….you publicly chastised and entire party on national/world TV so you want cooperation from them? I wouldn't hold your breath there dear leader….he spent very little on national security which just shows how stupid he is on the subject or how little he cares about us and our safety….He said nothing on illegal immigration that is out of control in a time when 14-15 million American workers (the wife included) are out of work! All in all those who have drunk the kool aid praised him, most are seeing the reality of his failed policy and inability to govern…..and off he goes to florida spending another ton of money on what will be another useless campaign stop for his failed agenda!!!! November and 2012 can't come soon enough!!!!
The guy is a punk and a cry baby … would love to see the SC take him down a couple of pegs.
Look for Wall Street and business to cut donations to the DNC in a big way.
I half-way expected his opening remarks to be, "Will the owner of the pickup truck with Massachusetts plates please move it. You're blocking my health care reform!"
What I DIDN'T hear him say, was anything about: The Middle East, Israel, the War on Terror, GITMO, Shrinking Government, Reining in Bureacracy, Holding Government accountable, and lastly, I heard nothing about the hopeium and changeium of his opaque transparency.
Chuckle!
Barry to the American people, “Go screw yourself!”
The American people to Barry, “You first!”
A pilot and weapons system operator sit in a jet fighter. The fighter is in a dive, straight down. "Sir, I recommend we pull up!" says the weapons system operator. "Pull up?" demands Captain Obama, "Hell no! I'm lighting the afterburners!"
EXcellent!
"Getting in the face"
What is he, a 14 yr old playground thug? He's the President. Someone should tell him so he can act like it.
hi "mikatollah," exactly which civilization was destroyed 60 years ago? the one called Japan which has about 120 or 130 million people?
I-me, I-me, I-me, It's all Bush's fault. When is this guy going to stop acting as a CHILD and be an ADULT and take responsible for his own actions? Blaming the Republicans is not enough now he's throwing his on party under the bus blaming them for not passing Health Care. I thought the President of the United States was to be a LEADER and not a CRY BABY!
Lord no Cowboy, those are inconvenient truths!
aka, the "Not True"
aka the Alito smackdown
Well said Lee. If you didn't see it firsthand you might want to see this clip of Keith Ablow explaining why Obama treats us like children.

Last time I looked the Supreme Court doesn't "govern". Just sayin.
Dignity is a concept he cannot grasp.
Add that to the others that escape the little man: economics, foreign policy, projecting strength, dialogue, math, history, the law.
I miss any?
Don't pester mik with little details like the Separation of Powers. Or opinion polls…
Separation of powers is for the little guy.
This time last year I worried that he didn't have enough experience. I was mistaken. I underestimated his lack of experience way big!
How many times does the President say "I" whenever he talks. A true narcissist!
There's that Constitution again, getting in the way of the Obama's plans for us all…
I think the Obama just made sure no Constitutionalist on the court will retire anytime soon over the next few years…
I wouldn't believe that twit if he was standing outside during a monsoon and said it was raining!
Humility…
Oh, that's BRILLIANT!
A +1 to you…!
TEA BAGG OBAMA 2010. Send a message he can't ignore…tell him how unAmerican he is…this Maoist iconclast…make him fear you. Do your civic duty.
What's even more stunning is that a man so ignorant of the document was a ConLaw professors. Those students got jipped.
And you'll have to ask for the time because he plans to reduce the deficit by confiscating all the watches.

I have. It's what dried ice is made of. There's a ton of it in those old Universal Horror movies. Wait! All of those people who worked on those films are dead!!!!!! I'm surprised Algore the mad scientist hasn't mentioned this "fact."
We TOLD you folks in the WH to remove those mirrors…!
We'll never get him out to the podium now…!
As the Obama gazes affectionately at himself, inside his head…"I feel petty…Oh, so pretty…I feel pretty, and witty, and g*y…!"
I may not have been clear. Iran must know that were they to use a nuclear weapon that the inevitable retaliatory strike would destroy Iranian civilization… at least as they know it today.
Yet for a fact, there is no documented case in history, or everyone ever dying from CO2.
Carbon dioxide, yes. CO2, no.
They are not supposed to. But this activist court just set 100 years of legislation and case law on its head with a 5-4 decision. Not much respect for precedent when it doesn't fit the the right wing world view.
They have become legislators.
Yeah, we need more transportation systems to go job hunting.
Never happen. My loathing of this individual is gradually growing into a great hate.
I simply refuse to use the term "president" anymore.
I won my bet. Ibet he would blame Bush in the first minute and he did in 48 sec.
We didn't see the bill yet….I've complained to my Senators & Congresswoman Moore that the bill is unconstitutional…and is something that States may need to work on for ourselves…not the Fed.
thanks for the clarification. what's wrong with not permitting Iran to get nuclear weapons? the rhetoric and posturing of the tyrants who currently subjugate Persia indicate that once they achieve the technology, they intend to leverage it against our allies (Israel and the moderate members of the Middle Eastern Islamic world). why give them the chance to own first strike capabilities?
as a culture, as a nation, the dictatorship of Persia would do much better to focus on bringing stability to their region by developing their natural resources and encouraging a more prosperous way of life for their subjects.
I didn't see any insanity last night. Certainly nothing that would make right wing partisans look good… or even acceptable.
If you think this speech was all smoke and mirrors, you're right? This president is no dummy. The most important part of Democrat strategy is the stimulus. It will continue to dole out cash, because it is setting up a structure throughout the country that will be inexplicably Democrat. It isn't the economy, stupid, it's votes.
The only reason Democrat members of Congress are swaying now is because they fear their political careers. It is not because they have a new found understanding that this president's is wrong.
Maybe, his smartest move was the policy to forgive debt to students after 10 years if they choose public service. People with college education are guaranteed voters, and who are they going to love? Consider the parable of the man who forgives two people their debts: one for five hundred, and the other fifty. The result is that the one who is forgiven more will love more. The Democrats are so in love with power that they are willing to accrue massive debt in order to grease the wrists of the electorate. If they do not crash the economy before the votes turn over, they win.
I don't know how I made it through the whole damn speech. What I heard loud and clear is this:
NO – I don't care what happened in MA or anywhere else, I WILL push through my agenda
Sound bytes that show my lies are dividing the nation
You stupid Republicans are exhausting me, get out of my way!
All you dense Americans out there, I will do what I want with this country, too bad for you
I don't care about bankrupting this country
I don't worry about terrorists
I couldn't care less what the polls say, what the people are saying, and I sure don't like the Supreme Court
The world is melting and only I can save it
Only I can create jobs
I've known arrogant people in my life, but I have never seen this level of self adoration in my life!
Do you think he believes in anything? Or, is it payback to
his supporters and stupid followers? And, possibly a
future source of revenues for him as in the case Al the
Gore?
I haven't used that term applied to him since day one…I knew what he is!!!
But Jim Cramer boasted he voted for Obama….
Off topic…..Why hasn't Brown been seated as yet??????????????
Mik, there is an old saying its better to remain silent and have people wonder if your a Moran then to open your mouth and remove all doubt. But lets talk about accountablitlity……. The heath care plan that hes pushing is unconstitutional and stupid (the only thing gained on any side from this proposal is government control). Heath care cost will skyrocket on this plan the sad thing is if they really wanted to help there are ways to lower costs. And lets not forget the corruption associated with this plan. The crazy thing to me is they acknowledged it and just acted as if thats how they get things done in Washington. How about the terrorist who has Miranda rights????? This is wrong on so many levels I don't even know were to start. As a War Veteran of this country I'm offend that my tax dollars are going to provide a trial for a know terrorist who planned and carried out an act against the people of this country. I could go on and on but i know Mr. Obama does not have the peoples interest at heart just his progressive socialist agenda.
So was Hillary!!!
Legislators make laws. The court repealed a law, which is the opposite of legislating. Pickup a civics book, study, then return
It must be a terrible feeling when you are being verbally slimed and to know that you will never have the opportunity to respond.
When a politician bum raps another one, at least it is on a two way street.
Obama's comment about the recent Supreme Court ruling should go down as his most disgusting moment.
To chose the State of the Union speech to say what he said about this ruling proves to me this "boy" is no man.
"Jumpstart" the economy?
Come on Cowboy, all this guy wants to do is jump ON the economy and…"ride it dirty.."
Michelle in Charge of Obese kids…LOL She should start with Porker Obummer.
I forced myself to watch it and was hoping for a Commercial Break….My wife walked out occasionally.
The Governor of VA Acceptance Speech I watched afterward and that was Great American Speech!
Mr O's goals are still Socialist!…AND He's "hooked up" with Lucifer, The Original Father of Lies and promoter of Destruction(s)!.
He said he cut everybody's taxes and then he said he is about to raise taxes.
He said he was forward looking and then blamed Bush.
He said America can do anything it sets it's mind to, except Iraq of course.
He talked about a spending freeze and then talked about more spending and new programs.
He talked about settled science……well, the pattern is self evident.
Obama's SOTU was a ball of contradictions. Just like his Presidency.
That would be the ideal solution if they could be persuaded somehow to give up their nuclear ambitions. But "not permitting" implies that we could somehow overthrow their government and take over. This is a country of 70 million and there is nothing that would unite them like an attack on their native soil.
There is no such thing as a limited military strike. If you attack their nuclear facilities they will retaliate in the Persian Gulf, disrupting oil supply lines to the west. The Strait of Hormuz will be a smoking black oil pit.
During their war with Iraq, Iran would send tens of thousands of "martyrs" armed only with clubs against Iraqi artillery positions. They will fight you to the death.
Concerned,
The answer is the latter, "he doesn't care." And arrogant indeed–he is, in fact, little else. All talk, no walk.
She was doing the Botox Booggie.
You heard what you wanted to hear… you wanted to hear Chavez and you did.
Presidential executive orders are not a communist plot. They are a tool that dates back to Roosevelt and have been used effectively by every president since. Obama asked the congress to step up and when they refused he took action. It's hard ball.
There is this concept enshrined in the Constitution called "Separation of Powers." The President has no right to chide the Court like he has power over them, and instead of just mouthing "No, not true," Alito should have shouted it. This President has a mistaken notion that he gets to dictate what laws should be passed and what judicial decisions should be made.
I caught Hannity with Luntz's focus group after the speech. Almost all of them felt that he sounded good, but they didn't believe his words.
The court replaced the will of the people with the will of five guys. They overturned the legislature and a long history of case law just because they can, so they have replaced them. Not difficult to understand.
The big problem is that most of those Democrats are facing elections in which they will lose now. If you have nothing left, why not pass every unpopular bill sent your way? That's my main fear.
At times he has contradicted himself in the same "sentence".
If you think Obama was salty at losing the stranglehold on campaign finances, just wait until he and his ilk have a stake driven through the heart of gun control this June when well over a hundred years of precedent is overturned.
That will take a Republican Majority in the House of Representatives.
Well, he certainly believes that it's a flawed document of negative liberties. I believe that is the Leftist meme.
If they guy goes visibly off the deep end after the coming November congressional massacre, then there's a chance that the new Congress can begin proceedings to remove him.
Putin, Castro, Chavez, damn if they can do it why I can't?
Didn't you notice that pathetic $13/paycheck rebate? I know it sure didn't make a difference for me.
He has every right to disagree with the court and work to limit the potential damage that the narrow decision may create. They have exercised their power, now he will exercise his. This is not over.
Justice Roberts justified overturning precedent by saying the original court decision was not unanimous, like that somehow invalidated previous rulings. This is as blatant a power grab as we have ever seen by the right wing of the supreme court… and from a guy who said he would respect precedent in his confirmation hearings.
Maybe they should put a paper bag over Pelosi's head next time. I was so distracted with her twitching face that I had a difficult time listening to the Idiot in Chief. His worn out campaign speech was boring and full of empty rhetoric. I was hopeful that somebody would have had the balls to stand up and say "You Lie".
"Well, I and me me'd and I'd. And then I me'd. Then me will I, and of course, I and me will also I and me…"
What did anyone expect? ANd yes, the pic above with this article is priceless…
I don't know what he said. There was an excellent hockey game on cable last night. I do enjoy reading the comments.
I listened to Carter SOTUs and even Bill Clinton's…….but…I will not be entertained by obama's fictitious assertions.
He's a loser and America is a loser for the remainder of his term.
Like typical sap ass Republicans, they spared Obama the humiliation of having to give his REWRITTEN speech in front of the man who forced him to rewrite it.
Wow, you think the Republicans don't have bigger things to worry about than the president's Hawaiian birth certificate? That would be a huge political risk, because what if they are wrong? How stupid and petty do they look then? One lesson they learned by impeaching Clinton is you better be right. Because if he is still there after you take your best shot you are in political trouble… just ask Newt.
Greg, that pretty much sums it up for me.
they were too busy doing nothing
In honor of Obama's SOTU last night:
Toby Keith's song I Wanna Talk About Me (with lyrics)

PS- Obama's call for 'a new tone' falls on deaf ears, including his own…
…because the fool is still tone deaf.
Try the after this November's elections.
There was government accountability of a sort if you count his tirades against the Republicans and the Supreme Court.
My take:
First half of speech, President Obama was channeling his inner-Rush Limbaugh. He said everything we wanted to hear in very broad strokes.
Second half of speech, when he got into actual policy–back to good ole Barry–Big Government Guy.
yes, mikatollah, the 8 year blood orgy engaged in between iran and irag in the 1980's in many ways set a new modern benchmark for barbaric behaviour among primitive, semi-developed dictatorships.
all the more reason to prevent such people from obtaining weapons of mass destruction.
clever, well thought out diplomacy exercised from a position of strength has often worked wonders throughout human history. however, weakness breeds contempt.
should diplomacy from a position of strength fail, then limited military strikes, as you point out, may produce collateral damage but we would do better to navigate those waters as best we can rather than stand by and watch the despots of modern Persia vaporize Israel, our strongest ally in the Middle East and make their power play for regional hegemony.
That's just it, I think he just put the "Supremes" between a rock and a hard place.
If they pursue this real issue, they will be appear vengeful.
And Roberts is to much of a gentleman to allow even this remotest of a chance.
Something else stood out to me during his speech, it definitely spotlighted the Radical House Members & just how many there are. More than once credit was given to the fact that the House had passed Healthcare & a Cap & Tax bill. I did watch the previous debate in the House but had since forgotten just how much of a threat they are to our Free Nation because I have been so preoccupied w/ the Senate.
It is imperative that we keep track of how the house members are voting & do everything we can to hold them Accountable for their Actions. Never has there been a greater need for WE THE PEOPLE to restore checks and balances then now.
Tell that person you bet that gambling just may not be his cup of tea.
I have seen enough of your posts to realize that you're a stooge. How can you possibly reconcile the President's statement debasing the Supreme Court about banning foreign campaign donations when a huge part of the donations that elected him actually came from UNDISCLOSED foreign sources?
You need to go to your local police department and file a report. you've been mind-raped and don't even know it.
What??? the only time he looks straight forward is when he is looking at himself in the mirror? I have yet to see this man look straight into the camera, as if he was actually talking to me.
If you are so anxious to start a shooting war, then why do we not attack North Korea. They actually have nuclear weapons and a whack job for a dictator? The reason you don't is because they have a million man army 50 miles from Seoul.
The Bush doctrine is dead. We must always consider unintended consequences of military action. Iran knows that Israel exists under the protective umbrella of American power. It they attack them they risk devastation. I don't think they are that stupid.
That is a Constitutional issue and there is no higher order to be "worried about". The way to not be "wrong" about it is to put the question to him directly, in public, and force an answer. Clinton was impeached, charges were brought and he was proven guilty. He was disbarred and a video clip of his outright lie is there for all to see. That he wasn't removed by the senate doesn't mean he wasn't punished. On what point do you think the House got it wrong?
I think that the Republicans should call his bluff and immediately, publicly, publish a plan for off shore drilling and new nuclear power plants. They probably already have something written up.
I think that he hears the people loud and clear, the trouble is, he will stop at nothing to "Fundamentally transform America". The only thing that matters to him is the payout at the end if he accomplishes the progressive agenda.
Since he has chosen to "Double down", we need to really get serious…even if that means we must tear pages from his (Bible) written by Alinsky and utilize the same tactics.
[...] What Did Obama Say in his State of the Union Address? [...]
He taught Marxism, nothing else!
Obama could revoke his own decision to nix leases Bush approved. Obama's claim supporting oil and gas drilling is a farce.
Believe me, I did NOT hear what I wanted to hear.
And the problem is not the use of executive orders. It is the use of executive orders as a direct attack on the decisions of the other branches of government. It is not as if congress didn't take action. They did. They put forth the measure and it was defeated. When the representative branch of government is simply overruled by executive fiat, representative government is dead, and dictatorial rule has begun. That is not acceptable.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Obama provided full disclosure of 90.2% of his campaign contribution. McCain could account for only 87.2% his, and that included almost a third of which was public funds. "Unaccounted for" is a nice way to say soft money.
If it was up to me, no non-person would be allowed to make a political campaign contribution, and certainly no foreigners. But the cash floodgates are open now and congressmen are for sale to the highest bidder. And it doesn't matter if the bidder is from Atlanta or Tokyo.
The guy's an empty suit. He'll still be blaming Bush when he's tossed out in 2012. How he was able to give that speech with a straight face is beyond me.
http://factsarestubbornthings.net
I took Beck's advice and I'm waiting for Gleen to tell me tonight.
And I believe that the plants, trees, and flowers like it too, by the way!
You heard the voice of your man god, of course you can't be objective.
Me too, but—-
You will prolly have that second opinion before the commission he appoints to study it makes their recommendation for his consideration.
Disagreement is quite different from coercion and not so veiled threats.
The man had complete control of both houses and he flubbed it, so know he falls back on his marxist roots and starts threatening people.
How impressive.
Free stuff for everyone if you vote for us, I am GOD, things are great! It's Bushes fault!
Sounded like the rantings of a mad man to me.
Is there anyway we can persuade you to hang out at media mutters?
LOL – When you hear a lefty moron complain about judicial activism you start having hope for the Republic again.
You would, being a moron yourself
Coming from a typical Obama Parrot that is really funny, keep it up you are removing all doubt about your moron status
Re angry Americans: Mr. President, finally, it really is ALL..ABOUT..YOU. Comprende?
I just listened to the Anointed One spend an hour telling the American people how stupid he thinks they are,. And flipping off SCOTUS for good measure.
No it's not. It is a right wing conspiracy theory. Obama released his Hawaiian birth certificate and had it verified by an independent organization and the results were posted online for everyone to see.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_t...
Go look at it for yourself… even has a closeup photo of the raised state seal. And it has been verbally confirmed by the Hawaiian secretary of state and even the (Republican) governor has said the birth certificate is valid.
His birth certificate was good enough for the state department to issue him a passport and it should be good enough for you.
Had Clinton been found guilty he would have been removed from office.
The insane would think the actions of a lunatic is completely normal, thats kind of the definition of the term so color me surprised that you did not see it
So far, he has obviously failed to get the message that Bill Clinton received in 1994. GOP has to remain strong through the next few months, to insure that the current health care "reforms" do not pass, and must make sure that no new initiatives achieve any traction ("cap and trade", for example). Assuming Obama does not make any course changes by November, he'll be dead meat.
If he wants to run the government as if it were a parliamentary system (i.e., govern with his large majorities in both Houses), he will get a parliamentary result in November; both Houses will flip to the GOP. Then, as Pelosi put in 2006, "Now we will have accountability. Now we will have investigations." Get every one of those Obama thugs before Congressional panels and put each one of them under the microscope.
Stay strong for the next few months, folks.
I am pretty sure she is some kind of Animatronic device
There was no "decision" in congress, except not to take action. Had they made a decision the president would have had to abide by it… but they refused.
I don't believe in god. Either a supernatural or natural one.
Obama is just a good man discharging his duties to the best of his abilities. That's all any of us can do.
Also, as I don't believe that Oil is the reason we're so interested in the Middle East (if it were true, why do we keep letting Russia and China get the deals?) N. Korea isn't harboring, encouraging, or training non-military combatants to infiltrate our country, and attack our civilians. Stabilizing the Middle East would lesson the ability of Terrorist groups to recruit, thereby ensuring our own National Security. We have a national interest (that is NOT oil related) there.
Again, against the war for oil idea, wouldn't it be cheaper to drill ourselves than pay, not only for a costly war, but extra middle men? If we're fighting for an economic reason, the reasons for the decisions would be economic as well. The costs wouldn't balance the benefits.
he was out of line addressing the judiciary, and he patently lied re mccain feingold. He was petty and peevish with the Republicans; surely unlikely to engender a groundswell from anyone. And he amazingly credited his "stimulus" bill as pulling us back from the brink or something, when only a 3rd of it has been spent and God above only knows what any of the embedded pork had to do with anything.
Actually, if the Iranian people are to be believed, they would like nothing more than for us to come in and help unseat their dictator in the same way we unseated Iraq's. They seem quite fed up with a man who likes to use rape, murder, and hangings to make sure the common people sit down and shut up. They would unite, but not against us, but to unseat their oppressor. They're trying to do it already, why not add some more teeth to their arsenal?
The instability and atrocities in Iran have been popular topics on BigJournalism if you want to check it out. One of the British papers, I think the Times, also recently had an interview with a former Iranian soldier who deserted after the riots over a crisis of conscience.
American Ivy, great point. Constraints of time and space would not allow me to list all of the reasons why the Middle East matters to us. Thank you.
If by drilling for ourselves you mean using up our own vast domestic oil reserves, I tend to think of our domestic reserves in a rather strategic way.
Until technological advancements permit us to move away from the use of oil to power our society (i am a person who extols the virtues of the wondrous resources and its myriad by products), I think we should deplete oil reserves in the Middle East. It gives them capital to build and invest – which some of them actually do – and it keeps our on shore reserves intact in case we need them 100 years from now.
Of course there was a decision in congress. The bill was drafted, advanced, voted on, and rejected. That is a decision. And it was decisively rejected, by his own democrat party. But of course, he will NOT "abide" by it. He will overrule it by executive fiat. "Hugo has decided, and you will comply." Not in this country!
But you can also read this AP fact check article:
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100128/D9DGKDT0...
In particular:
OBAMA: "I've called for a bipartisan fiscal commission, modeled on a proposal by Republican Judd Gregg and Democrat Kent Conrad. This can't be one of those Washington gimmicks that lets us pretend we solved a problem. The commission will have to provide a specific set of solutions by a certain deadline. Yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I will issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans."
THE FACTS: Any commission that Obama creates would be a weak substitute for what he really wanted – a commission created by Congress that could force lawmakers to consider unpopular remedies to reduce the debt, including curbing politically sensitive entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. That idea crashed in the Senate this week, defeated by equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans. Any commission set up by Obama alone would lack authority to force its recommendations before Congress, and would stand almost no chance of success.
Educate yourself and you will find that we do not tolerate dictators in this country. The system itself is set up to help protect us from that kind of usurpation.
I don't know. The people seem to like the protection of free speech. Plus, while they may have overturned 100 years of legislation (which is saying something about McCain's age), they upheld a nice little 200+ year old precedent set by a document known as the Constitution.
Just out of curiosity, have you read the case proceedings? Some of the stuff discussed about the slippery-slope of McCain-Feingold is pretty scary. Some of the worst?
1. Under McCain-Feingold, the FCC would have the ability to ban books based on their content and the timing of their release.
2. The News Corporations have "double protection" under the First Amendment. They have "More freedom" than common people. May I direct your attention to the last page of Orson Wells "Animal Farm". Clover the Horse, wondering how it came to be that the pigs gained so much power, asks a younger horse to read to her the original laws the animals set up for the farm. Added onto the primary law, "All animals are equal" is the phrase "but some are more equal than others." If you don't recognize the line, I'd suggest picking up some of Wells' books.
I agree that North Korea is a big giant pain for China. But I don't think they have as tight of control over them as some in the west might imagine. Kim is a wild card.
Of course N. Korea would not prevail in a shooting war with the south. But a surprise artillery barrage on a city of 10 million would inflict unacceptable losses… so we had better be sure.
Ahhh oil… there it is. So N. Korean nukes ok because they have no oil.
Don't be sucked into the blustering of petty dictators. Especially guys like Ahmadinejad whose may or may not be in control of the government on any given day. They want you to be afraid and would love nothing more than for the U.S. to do something stupid. It makes them more powerful in their country.
LOL!
Ironic isn't it that all the years of righty complaining about judicial activism when what they really meant was it is the wrong kind of activism. And that is the definition of hypocrisy.
You did not read my reply then, did you? We have pressing matters of National Security, both for ourselves and one of our most loyal allies, involved in stabilizing the Middle East.
I don't know… what do you have to offer? You've tried insults and I didn't bite. You've tried showing me with talking points and that didn't sway me… you could try buying me off, but it would have to be a lot of money because I do enjoy tweaking you. So make me an offer.
Well, he's having a negative affect on the stock markets again after flapping his gums, no real surprise there. Just when it looked like my 401K was close to recovering. Thanks for all you do Mr President.
Limiting Government is a "Power Grab"? More like a step in the right direction. Plus, overturning precedence is part of the Supreme Court's job, reviewing cases in light of the CONSTITUTION, not just case law. If preserving precedence was their job, Slavery would still be running rampant, as they'd have to uphold all their previous rulings reasserting Slave-owners rights even after the Civil War.
Can you show me an official document that shows what hospital he was born in? No you cannot. You know why? Obama refuses to release it and has spent well over a million dollars trying to avoid doing so. That you would post that particular link shows you haven't done your research.
Amended per adoption, travel to Pakistan, Indonesian citizenship, UK and Kenyan citizen resulting from his father…..get back to me when you can produce an authenticated document of record showing the hospital and doctor……I won't be holding my breath.
Clinton was found guilty man. Can you say disbarred? " I did not have secual relations with that woman. A blue dress found him guilty beyond any doubt.
Spoken like a loyal partisan. Glenn Beck will be proud of you.
"I do not think that word means what you think it means."
We don't want them creating laws that don't exist and stretching the Constitution to say things it doesn't. That kind of "Activism" is completely wrong and unwanted.
However, taking the Constitution as it is stated in it's original context (a view that the Father of the Constitution, James Madison, strongly advocated) and checking if current laws follow the regulations set down by it isn't Activism. That's the Supreme Court doing its Constitutional job.
I am all for the Iranian people rising up and taking control of their government. In the mean time, let's not forget the lesson of Iraq. We broke em and now we pay $8 each month to keep them from killing each other.
I can't remember the last time we took over a country by force and it worked out well for us. Patience… the Soviet Union collapsed and this too will pass.
You say "Ahhh oil…there it is," like it's some sort of shameful thing. I like oil. Our access to it and our remarkable ingenuity in developing uses for it has been very helpful in our (American) development. And the admirable development of our Western Republic has produced enormous benefits to the development of the rest of the world.
With respect to blustering dictators, remember, I said above that using diplomacy and negotiating from a position of strength should come first. What would you think if we (the United States) were to help push along regime change in Iran? I'm not saying I'm for it or against it. I'd just like to get your take on the idea.
Apparently it is VERY hard for you to understand. They repealed parts of a law, with caveats. It's the opposite of activism. Stop trying to discuss legal realities beyond your comprehension.
Japan? Germany? I'm pretty sure those countries fell by force. Now both are allies. And if you've ever played a Nintendo or Playstation, or driven a BMW, you'd say there were some benefits there. Plus, we still keep at least one base in each of those countries. It's called contingency.
There are some things you can't put a dollar price on. Freedom is one of them, loyalty another. Have you hear of any Iraqis saying, "Man, I wish we still had Hussein. I really miss those killing fields."
Light rail to cities that we don't care about, just use the amtrak (looser, that costs almost the same as a plane) we have.
We use planes to get there fast, a 600 MPH train might compete.
Joe Biden looked like a bobble head the entire recital.
I thought our conquest of the Axis Alliance worked out pretty well.
And I think the pressures that were brought to bear on the poorly organized, economically non-existent Soviet Union helped to speed along its demise.
Please note, I'm not advocating a policy of shooting first and asking questions later. You've kind of been bringing that up. I think we can achieve a lot of good in tense geopolitical situations where we have to deal with gangsters who enslave their people by using other means than violence. Is there moral hazard involved? I suppose someone could make a case for that if someone were to follow that line of thinking but there is a far greater moral hazard involved when we appease the despots who control Persia.
May I ask you this? What do you think of Israel's position as our ally? thx
What did the President say in the SOTU address in one word: "I"
ding ding ding!!! another winner. the president not only does not care—he is bent on putting the looters in charge.
Yes, nuclear weapons are only used as a buffer. We already have a Muslim nation Pakistan with nuclear and a communist nation North Korea with nuclear.
Why should the U.S. government be allowed to have nuclear weapons and tell other countries not so fast?
I wish that Barry WOULD quit, the Presidency, that is.
Hi Johnny. Difficult to do a quick answer.
It might help to tell you that the root of my argument would have to do with the fact that I am an unabashed supporter of what might be called "The West." I think we have produced a wave in history that has the potential to eradicate many of the difficulties humans have faced since they emerged from the caves. In that sense, Our Great Experiment – America – is the culmination of centuries of development and work.
Right now, I do think and believe that we are far more capable of making adequate geopolitical decisions than the current regime in Iran.
In other terms, an adult would not give a loaded gun to a 3 year old. In this case, we are the adults.
I'm not a pacifist. If we are attacked we have no choice but to defend ourselves. We shouldn't be starting wars in the name of peace. WWII came to our shores, we didn't go looking for it.
We attacked Iraq.
Obama went back into Campain Mode last night by promising Americans 'a chicken in every pot and a tiger in every tank,' plus more "transparency." (That was when I knew for sure he was lying) This joker does not seem to understand that once you're elected it's time for the mouth to shut and for the work to begin. Instead he is trying to start all over like this past year didn't really happen. He has no credibility in my book and don't expect him to make good on any of his new promises, given his track record. Typical politician, we fall for it everytime.
We were not the aggressors in Europe and Japan… we were in Iraq.
What moral hazard? A moral hazard is when you behave differently than normal because you are not exposed to the risk. When someone behaves poorly on this blog because they know there is no physical risk it creates a moral hazard. Or when a bank takes on undue risk knowing the taxpayers will bail them out, that is a moral hazard. "Too big to fail" is a moral hazard. Our invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with a moral hazard.
Now there would be a moral hazard created if Israel attacks Iran and we get drawn into it. I have no problem defending allies, but that doesn't mean they should be allowed to drag us into a war of their convenience.
What did Obama say?
Sums it up in 30 seconds. Be warned very funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BkIh1R5utY
I hear that all the time from local, state, and federal governments trying to tell everyone how to live their life and what's best for them. What size toilet tank you need, what kind of light bulb you should use, who should be allowed to carry guns, what type of guns you can have, etc.
While the United States can act as an example of life, liberty, and property (even though it's nothing more than a totalitarian democracy, better than a lot of places), when it starts telling the rest of the world how to live, I can't agree with that.
The economics make it impractical long term to globalize military efforts anyhow. I just can't find a way to see common ground in that argument no matter how hard I try.
National defense is important but most of our foreign military excursions arguably have nothing to do with defense.
I hear you. I was reading the warnings on the side of something last night, muttering to myself, "Sheesh, how did anyone survive the perilous days before warnings on the sides of cans?"
And, yes, we have to be careful when we involve ourselves in the world. Arrogance can overcome even the best intentioned among us. However, there are certain aspects of life that are a street fight and in a real fight, you have to throw some jabs, some hooks and some rights.
Every time I hear one of the Islamo-facists say something about wiping out our culture – and please admit, that their rhetoric is very anti Jewish and anti-Western – I listen carefully and take them seriously.
Sometime you gotta fight to survive.
Those who suggest we precipitated the attack on Pearl Harbor are predisposed to conspiracy theories. I see them more in right wing blogs than left, but we have our share of paranoids.
I'm not sure what Scott Ritter's legal problems have to do with his opinions on Iraq (which have all proven true) but I suspect you are out of ideas to justify that nonsense.
We can always use some aggressive guys like you in the military so you might consider joining up and putting your pink body where your mouth is. I like to encourage hawks to serve their country to help relieve some of that aggression. Too often they fall prey to that "moral hazard" of wanting to fight as long as there is no risk to them and theirs. George W. Bush springs to mind…. Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich. All have provided (lip) service to their country.
Remarking upon my personal character removes our discussion from the realm of the useful. You said several thought provoking things to this point. Have a nice day.
Mr Rahe
I could not agree more. Obama is a prancing self absobed liar. Thankfully he will destroy the Democrat (Democrat means corrupt lying bribe taker in common English) Party on his way down. I was worried that he'd put on a better show and hide his lies better. However it's just amazing this guy just stands there and with a bold face tells lies that are obvious to even children. He's finished thank God!
Now that's not nice. I merely suggested that you and your character be all you can be.
See Mike, you're ready to go kick a little a$$. Throw your right wing hat into the ring. Show those ragheads how we do it downtown…. American style!
One issue that I haven't heard anyone talking about is when BHO mentioned a new Executive Order creating a Jobs Panel because he couldn't get it through Congress. Who's going to be seated at that table and what power will they influence?
"Obama released his Hawaiian birth certificate and had it verified by an independent organization and the results were posted online for everyone to see."
Repeating this false probaganda over and over does not make it true.
No matter what you might think there is no escaping that AKA Obama is not practicing the virtue of full disclosure.
In 1961, the Public Health Services, U. S Department of Health, Education and Welfare, National Center for Health Statistics, National Vital Statistics Division published the "Vital Statistics of the United States
Here is a blank copy of the Standard Certificate of Live Birth used by all states including Hawaii., This is the information being hidden by Obama.
http://thesteadydrip.blogspot.com/2009/07/blank-b...
Plus read the article that is included with the blank copy.
Who Certified AKA Obama as "Natural Born"?
http://thesteadydrip.blogspot.com/2009/11/this-fr...
[...] What was never mentioned in the SOTU? National security. [...]
Perhaps the Supreme Court might now consider cases questioning The Won's longform birth certificate. Repubs should insist on an investigation of millions of dollars in illegal campaign donations made to Obama from foreign entities. Which is partly why Obamao and his minions are so upset with the SC decision. Plus, the decision now evens the playing field.
SInce when does the President get in the face of the Supreme Court? This may come as a surprise to you, but we don't live in a dictatorship, despite the current holder of the office's aspirations.
The president does not seem to care about the November elections as much as giving pay back to his contributors with cap and trade and the health care bill. This gives a rather small window in which to shove through the agenda he thought he would have eight years to pass. I expect the nuclear option to be invoked in the senate in order to get these items through. The president does not seem to have much hope for a second term at this point. We have yet to see if the congress will prove to be as politically suicidal as Obama.
I struggled through the whole speech. Concentrating more on reading the lips of the comments made by the "gallery." Basically it was a speech filled with errogant ranting about himself, while at the same time telling disgruntled and fed-up Americans what he thought they wanted to hear. Millions "heard" him, but I doubt that few believe. The tension between he and the Republicans was so thick you almost needed HD to see through it. He has no idea of the true meaning of the Constitution and is so full of himself that he cannot grasp reality. The deepest fibers of my being somehow wish he would reconsider the "I don't quit" attitude. Please, oh Great Messiah, do this country a favor and QUIT!!
Are you sure about those numbers?
Tell me, has anyone ever seen a ton of CO2 ?
What does it look like? What type container is used to contain it? A can, a bucket, a barrel?
Just as the President appears to have held the Supreme Court Justices in contempt, I now hold the President or should I say this egotistical, arrogant, hollow, delusional, Supreme Ruler in contempt. And exactly how much money that help fill the coffers of the Obama campaign came from foreign entities? I can only hope and pray that those who support this ruler and his agenda that are up for re-election this November will be removed.
SOTU: Just More Communist Lies!
Get the facts: http://www.commieblaster.com
Well, you and I know that, but why confuse the liberal kiddies?
Justice Alito has more class in his little finger then
Bozo could ever have in his lifetime…The guy is a
Chicago Thug, ACORN thug, and Union thug, all
rolled up in one big piece of crap………
Funny, what I heard was a message to Senate democrats that their rejection of his advisory board idea was irrelevant, as he will do it anyway by executive order.
I also heard a message to the Supreme Court that their decision to uphold the principles of our Constitution was also irrelevant, as he will work with congress to pass legislation to nullify that decision.
What I heard was hugo chavez, claiming the power of America's first dictator.
I have noticed that AlGore is strange, does that count?
Now after that little stunt, the Supremes can re-examine the birth certificate issue. We can only hope.
"[T]he President insists on our basing American public policy on discredited science." — Paul A. Rahe
Of course its never been about the science, the deck is stacked and has always been stacked. The grants given are only given if there is a finding that man-made global warming is happening. This is a clear conflict of interest that shows the promoters of man-made global warming were never interested in real science.
Global warming advocates want to tax us and control our lives, nothing else matters, especially the manufactured "science."
The most ridiculous claim is that CO2 can somehow cause warming, CO2 has no property and no ability to do any such thing. CO2 is demonized by the the global warming alarmist simply because it is the perfect object of a tax, because you literally cannot live without producing CO2. It's what we exhale, its what makes the plants grow and its an essential compound for the cycle of life on planet Earth. Global warming alarmist literally want to tax the air that you breath and they could not care less about the science.
You think the president is a moron? I disagree.
How long do you suppose that can go on before nobody listens to anything he says?
mikatollah, please don't get angy with me. this has been interesting so far. so many posters on the internet just devolve into one celled organisms incapable of rational discussion. and you're doing an admirable job responding to board participants even if i disagree with you.
however, let's take North Korea, a sad place where another gangster/tyrant/despot keeps a people who might otherwise be quite productive under his heel and in poverty. there are 3 reasons why we might refrain from removing kim jong il from his current accomodations.
one, he really is China's problem. he probably doesn't leave his house without Bejing's approval. i think they have him under some control.
two, South Korea has made great economic strides by pursuing Western style economic practices. their prosperity has allowed them, among other things, to build quite a formidable military. north korea could not economically sustain a conflict with South Korea which lasted more than a few days.
three, north korea doesn't have the oil we need. the middle east does. it is in our national interest to maintain stability in the Middle East.
last quick point, if Iran knows they risk devastation, why do their tyrants continually claim that they will destroy Israel?
Mikatollah, Understanding the path of history is often understanding one's perspective, the vantage point from which one looks out.
There are certain historians who would actually say that we were the aggressors with the Axis Alliance. Did Roosevelt & members of his administration help Pearl Harbor on because they felt we needed to join the fray? If nothing else, there is evidence to be considered.
It's a matter of how one chooses to look at it as it is with Iraq.
I could point out that one of the biggest critics against our involvement in Iraq – Scott Ritter – was recently arrested again and charged with displaying his private parts via a webcam to an undercover agent posing as an underage child. Maybe that's a cheap shot – why kick a man when he's down? – but it does irk me a bit that he was used by the media on a daily basis to bludgeon the previous administration but yet his fascinating midnight soirees go so little reported. Things like this make me quite suspicious and I personally take with a grain of salt that Hussein was bereft of any heavy duty weaponry.
However, I originally cited World War II and the pressures we put on the Soviet Union as potentially positive ways we've been involved in world affairs after you said that we've never had much success with conquest when in fact we've been quite successful.
To answer your point about Iraq, I would too offer that given that we were initially thrown far back on our heels in Iraq because of inadequate strategy, the American military complex has responded quite well and done a commendable job in effecting regime change. I hope that Iraq – which is really a beautiful place – continues to make progress and I applaud our efforts. There is no reason such a historically prominent people with so much oil to exchange for our paper should have to suffer under the yoke of a gangster.
But that, I'm afraid, is a product of my perspective and I don't expect you to agree with me.
With Israel, what's the point of being our ally if we cannot help them when they need us? At least Friends with Benefits?
Nice speaking with you.
Alito is a traitor.
I am sick and tired of people trying to pin this mess we are now in on President Obama. Not only is this mess Bush's fault it is a republican mess. Knocking down everything he is trying to do is not going to gain anything for anyone Democrats or republicans. Democrats are cowards, that is why republicans are getting away with this war against our President.
Iris M.
Hello Darlin',
Why sure, you are right. I couldn't agree with you more. Democrats are cowards.
My take on Obama is that he has lied so consistently and blatantly for a year that nothing he could possibly say or do would resonate with American people again. Trust and what little respect he was owed are gone now .. and not just in America but all across the world. I daresay he would not be given the Peace prize this month, and by the way, what happened to the prize money he said was going to charity? So since he is already a lame duck in so many minds (not enough yet, but every day a few more eyes are opened) .. what does he plan to do for the next three years? And if his missing birth certificate case does hit the Supreme Court as I've heard it will, I wonder how kindly the Justices will view the case? What delicious revenge that would be for Obama's insult of the Supremes at the SOTU! Old Indian legend: don't pee on your campfire until you're through with it.
Slowly, but surely, Americans are now seeing the terrible mistake what the Obama cult followers have done.
I have to assume upon the initial report and comments there upon that all the people above are actually anti-Obama people – I "assume", probably "Bush fans" and "probably" therefore, how would one say? Biased! Hello? Opinions are only opinions..and the fact that this report starts with the very words..,
" if any, resemblance to the speech that, IN MY OPINION, he should have delivered" leads you to believe that people are more inclined to listen to THIS guys opinions rather than their country's leader! I'm not here to start a fight, however, please just remember when you are the only people on one blog ony showing one opinion only, you are being biased. That not democracy.
It's ridiculous to have ablog that has only one side..whats the point?
is this ablog or just an anti Obama thing? cos really- when people have answers to the one man above who actually atates "in my opinion" I have to wonder how come his opinion is appaerently bigger than the Presidents unless of course, you dont agree with your President!
physical times union gun consensus

History does not lie:
Katrina hit on 8/23/2005 9 days later, Homeland Secretary, Michael Chernoff waived the Jones Act…9/2/2005.
BP hit on 4/20/2010…..56 DAYS LATER OBAMA REFUSES TO LIFT THE JONES ACT AND HIS HAND PICKED, HOMELAND SECRETARY, JANET NAPOLITONO IS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN…56 DAYS!!!!!!!!
WE HAVE SHIPS THAT HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HELP WITH THE GULF RECOVERY AND THE ONLY PERSON STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS PROCESS IS BARACK OBAMA!
