Actually the one studying hand washing might well be worth while. I recall my dentist telling me that a number of his colleagues didn't see a point in washing hands between patients. I also recall hearing a doctor in the Health Cabinet of my state making an informal study of people in his department who washed their hands after using the bathroom. He found the men did less than half the time. He had a female pay attention to the ladies and got about the same results. These are medical staff people including nurses and doctors although doing pencil pushing jobs. One women argued that she knew where her hands had been so she didn't see the need. He replied that he knew where her hands had been, too, and he wouldn't be shaking hands with her.
The word demensia comes to mind. The politicakl leaders that are claiming that jobs are saved by pay raises or such nonsense maybe mentally ill. As concern citizens we should have them tested and placed in homes if they continue to believe theri own lies and rhetoric. My late mother was clearly suffering from the disease when she started teying to tell us kids that the car ful of gas and she got it for only .40 a gal. much like counting people who goit a pat raise at my expense as saved jobs. Then the agency that can't do it work according to it own mandate gtting stimulas funds, follow the money back to the politain who is benefitting from the money. The word kickback comes to mind! Wake Up America! Take back our country before its too late and the corrupt idiots steal everything you have.
Wake up America! Can you say sweetheart deal! House of Raeford Farms has hired and illegal immgrants and avioided paying taxes and yet the South Carolina US Attorney Walt Wilkins has let them lpledge guilty for slap on the wrist. Follow the money and find out who's getting paid off for this! As a US Attorney his is required to up hold the law, the letter and the spirit! Hiring someone illegally to lower your costs and avoid taxes is wrong and illegal at so many levels it booggles the mind that the citzens of SC allow this guy to remian in office. It illegal to come to our country without gettingbthe proper approvals, it illegal to hire someone who is here illegally, it is illegal not to pay taxes, yet Wilkins looked the other way on all three illegal atcivities. How much did he get for it? That is the only reason i can think of as to why he would willfully refuse to do his job as the law dictates. at the veyr best he is as quilty of subventing our immgrantion laws as the company who hired them. Kick this bum out of office asap and disbarr him. put him in jail and them go back and put the companies ceo and top management in there with him. Wake Up America!
The hand washing item is probably the only item I've seen the pork report since I've been reading them here that I could possibly and remotely justify, however, the study isn't doing anything for stimulating the economy and therefore shouldn't be paid for out of stimulus funds. .
Who owns the shopping mall? Who has stock in that company? Which politian ear marked this money? Follow this guy and the money and you'll see who got paid off and how much to give away five million of our money! Our money not his, ours! Invetsigate this jerk and put in jail where he belongs, along with the mall owners. The Oak Ridge mall should be spelled BOONDOGGLE Mall. No one shops there yet because of who owns it we give them five million to paly around with geo thermal heat. How much do you wnat to bet that an audit shows the whole thing could be done for a hundred grand and their p[ocketing the rest of the cash! wake up America! this is just another campaign bribe in the making and we have to stop it! It's our country, they work for us and they would put a nickel of their own money into this thing but they sure as hell will spend ours! Wake up America!
I'm sure they will argue that urine is sterile, so why wash? But then again, who knows what they were doing in the washroom if they didn't have an "assistant" observing them? lol
LOL, when I read the title of "shopping mall to nowhere" I thought they were talking about connecting it to the "bridge to nowhere" in Ketchikan, Alaska. I had to check it out because I lived in Ketchikan for many years. But alas, it's just another frivolous expenditure.

I have to agree, tom. There's a chapter on this in the new SuperFreakonomics book, worth a very interesting read. It might actually result in some of illusive healthcare savings and reduction in premature loss of life. It's amazing how pervasive the problem still is.
