Governments are inefficient. We have grown too accustomed to pork. It seizes to shock us. We must rapidly cut the size and scope of the government. This means less services-you can do it for yourself.

"If the train never comes, we still have made an improvement to downtown and removed that blight," he said.
Yeah, cuz tearing it down and building something useful wouldn't do that.
"The Recording Industry Association of America said the disclosure was evidence of a need for controls on peer-to-peer software to block the improper or illegal exchange of music."
How does the saying go? Never waste a crisis?
It's true. Man hardly ever met a spending bill he didn't like.
"No more pet projects,"
levees for new orleans? volcano monitoring for alaska?
THE SAD FACT: red states take in more federal spending than they pay out in federal taxes.
Only in Amerika!
That last item on the article, about the National Park Service spending $300,000.00 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway? That is nothin' compared to the multi-millions of dollars they are spending in the west for National Parks. By the time Unkle Sambo is finished, the west will have the best porta-john shitters in the whole wide world…………
Pssst!
I'll bid a handful of peso's for the K Street gal, as long as she is quiet, doesn't eat much, and is at least half the size of Hillary……………
Cowboy,
You forgot the half as ugly and scornful part.
But……….Willie still luvs her right?
I agree. The waste just handling the infrastructure is staggering. Federal regulations also defy common sense and add to the waste in many cases such as a bridge built about 20 years ago, less than a mile from where I live.
The Fed regs insisted on a shallow pier with a wide base. They refused to budge on this since their regulation book said that is the only way the bridge could be built over a newly built Interstate. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation told them the bridge would sink without deep piers based on the geology of the land in the area (loose shale). Sure enough, the bridge was built according to the Fed regs that the Feds insisted on and it started shifting and sinking before it was even opened so we taxpayers had to pay for that bridge, pay to rip it down and then pay again to build a new bridge to the proper PennDOT specs. If the Feds would have bothered to get their nose out of the regulation book, they wouldn't have wasted over a hundred million dollars of our money.
The artwork competition using transportation funds doesn't surprise me in the least and is much more common than the average American is aware of. Federally mandated art is something that most transportation projects must include if they are to get Federal funding.
Each project which deals with any public space must include a percentage of the cost to go towards artwork. In some cases that can be a few million dollars and often times, the agency involved in the project will drastically overpay for art simply to limit the amount of pieces they have to maintain since the cost of maintenance comes out of the agencies budget.
I have never seen the need to include millions for art in a transportation project. A well landscaped and/or designed project is usually much more attractive than one littered with so-called art which half the time looks like someone just cleaned out their garage and slapped a coat of paint on the junk.
Why don't they just send me $2 million and I will create another business that employs 20 people and pays them all over $45,000 a year?
Those NEA people need the government to help them sell there art you know, NEA puts out juck not art most of the time.
Heres step- 1, a 10% budget cut across the board, state, local and federal govt. How the hell is that to complicated for the genius "leeches" members of the political class.
Quite frankly, a 50% cut would be a better number. All those laid off could immediately reapply to ICE for jobs as Broder Guards. On second thought, that probably wouldn't work. They'd immeditaely go on the take to subsidize their salaries, and the Border traffic in illegals would double.
You know it is bad in this country, when the illegals are swimming the River, to go home……….
or President Marx would issue an executive order…Unlimited Unemployment Compensation Act. ____
Govt. Worker, now thats an oxymoron.
Obama is working really hard on the war in Afganistan, he thought about it during a break in a basketball pick-up game, and he took a call about it during a round of golf, he must be exhausted.
you forgot the addition to line 3
"and your first born if any"
