The Democrat Strategy for 2010: Bye Bye, Bayh
by Pamela GellerSenator Evan Bayh’s decision not to seek re-election this November makes him just the latest among numerous Democrats who announced they are quitting. They have looked at the Obamacare debacle, the crippling debt, the millions of lost jobs, and the looming national security disaster heralded by the increase in jihad terror attacks on American soil, and they’re getting out. They know that Americans are waking up to how the big government policies of the Democrats are continuing to hurt our economy, and are ruinous for America.

Swindling Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) will not seek re-election; the drug-addled Congressman Patrick Kennedy will not be seeking re-election in Rhode Island; Arkansas Congressman Marion Berry and Senator Byron Dorgan are leaving. Then there’s Michigan Democratic Lt. Governor John Cherry’s decision to end his floundering bid for governor. Colorado Governor Bill Ritter is also retiring. Not to mention the stunning late December party switch by freshman Alabama Representative Parker Griffith — just to mention a few.
And in Bayh’s whiny withdrawal speech, he made sure to take parting shots at the Republicans under the guise of the well-worn canard of their “lack of bipartisanship.” As if the Democrats worked with Bush.
The Party of No? Hardly. It’s the Save-America party, it’s the Say No to Communism party. Bayh didn’t speak of the irreparable damage the Democrats are doing to this country. He whimpered that only the Republicans said no to a jobs bill (although the government doesn’t create jobs, the private sector does) and that the Republicans wouldn’t sign off on another bloated, useless, cost-prohibitive commission to investigate bloated, useless, cost-prohibitive government spending. Funny how even a Democrat who is thought of as honorable and measured showed no honor in his parting remarks. He went out like an ankle-biting Democrat, pathetic and small.
Many capitalists, freedom lovers and individualists are gleeful about all of the early retirements of statists and crooks in the Democrat party. Rats bolt a sinking ship. They believe this indicates victory. It does not. While Republicans are rubbing their hands in glee at the sheer number of Democrat incumbents not running for re-election, I am not.
It is often said if the Democrats are the vicious party, the Republicans are the stupid party. What the Republicans lack in malevolence, they try to make up for with earnestness. But make no mistake: the Democrats never back down, never give up, never give in. They don’t. They are pit bulls. And while the Democrats are devoid of good ideas and good governance, they excel in abhorrent and detestable tactics in winning. They work by stealth.
And in this case, the retirements don’t indicate defeat. They indicate a new Democrat strategy. The retirements are part of a plan: everyone under the bus for the good of the party and the socialist state it is constructing. The Democrat strategy for 2010 is to make the failure of Barack Obama and the Pelosi/Reid Congress all about the incumbents, not the party itself. They are going to make the failure of this Administration about the candidates, not the party, when in fact it is party, party, party. Take the rancid Dodd, for example. He will be replaced with an attractive statist who does not have the ugly history of Dodd’s graft, corruption and racketeering, but who shares Dodd’s collectivist bent.
I expect the Democrats to pull their moderate ruse again by throwing up bunches of blue dogs to con the people. Then they will continue to ramrod the American people with their collectivist, statist agenda. They will run new faces without records that are soiled by the horrendous anti-American, anti-business, anti-national security, anti-individual, anti-small government, anti-tax cut record of the Democrats — and they will sucker the American people, yet again.
Protect the brand. It is a very smart strategy. And let’s be honest: the Democrats are brilliant at strategizing, and at trafficking in smear and deception. They can take down anyone, destroy anything, even (as we are now seeing) deconstruct a country and a constitution. What they can’t do is govern. Their skill is to destroy, to mooch, to loot. This is their anthem: altruism and slavery for the common good.
In reality, the blame for the fix we’re in falls squarely on the shoulders of the Democrat party. The Democrats are socialists, and the party platform has moved so far to the left that it is now virtually anti-capitalism and anti-individual. And that is what America has responded to viscerally to this past year. Tea parties, town halls, election after election — America is responding to President L-Dopa (which I call him because, like that drug that awakens catatonics, he is now awakening American patriots from their slumber).
Obama is merely the repulsive face of the party, but it is not just him, it’s all of them. It’s the party. It’s the ideology, not particular candidates.
What is really tragic is the right’s inability to capture this moment, ripe as it is. Instead of seizing the moment in the war of ideas and grasping the mantle of America’s unabashed exceptionalism, defending constitutional principles and remaining steadfast and true, the right keeps moving to…the left.
See the new face, same as the old face. See the new left, same as the old left.

60 vote majority and they could get nothing done. Now he quits and wants to blame Republicans?
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
Good article Pam.

My friends, the dominoes are falling. It is time to push harder. Onward and upward. If the Republican party cannot correct its course, we will leave them in the dust as well.
God bless you, Pamela, for being the voice of truth on this issue! The rats are leaving the ship, even though they know they can't swim. They revile the fire of righteousness that forced them from their comfortable lodgings, but that is to be expected. Behold, everyone! See the fleeing vermin! Pity them, but know what their flight means. Theirs was the philosophy of socialism. They only retreat…they will regroup…they do not surrender. Their Master will not allow it. You WILL be assailed again…and again, until you resolve to put an end to the farce once and for all. Pick a side. Choose to resist. The alternative is defeat in chains.
Everything Obama was supposed to be golden. Now that the surface has been scratched, what lies below has been exposed.
Nothing but pure toxicity exists under that media produced gold overlay and everyone, even folks like Bayh, are realizing it and running away as fast they can.
Like rats leaving a sinking ship of state.
Finally someone has put 2 and 2 together! Too bad the milk toast republicans won't figure it out while they run another progressive.
I have a question.
When in the hell is doofus dweeb Harry Reid going to read the handwriting on the outhouse wall, and follow suit?
Bayh was supposedly a moderate–alway trumpeted that way by the MSM–but when push came to shove in big issues he almost always voted with the Left. Good riddance.
It reminds me of another blowhard–Daniel Patrick Moynihan. He might have done good service for common sense in some of his pre-senatorial writings, but he was another supposed moderate who almost always voted Left, and yet was always called moderate by bigwig conservative pundits.
More people need to open their eyes and stop relying on these so-called moderates–they're nothing close to moderate, centrist, etc. They put on a big show that direction, and become convenient tools for the MSM. Get real.
TThe Dems are jumping ship fast
Pamela, I, too, fear that the Republicans will squander this opportunity and run more big government Republicans. Both parties need to wake up to the fact that the American people, at least the productive class, are sick and tired of government programs! Somebody needs to go through the Federal budget line by line and start pointing out the crap and making it very public – then cutting it! The usual suspects will not get this done. Also, the Repubs have to have the guts to boot out our own Congresscritters who have stayed too long at the trough – er, fair – like John McCain. If anyone was ripe for retirement, it's McCain.
I would prefer Harry fight to the end and get handed his pink slip by the voters of Nevada.
Personally I hope Reid never sees the writing on the wall. I want him to have to stand there on election night and come up with some lie as to the cause of his defeat. I want the whole world to see and hear how a liar explains his defeat.
I'd say right after they cram through health care "reform" ol' Harry will find some "noble" reason to fall on the sword.
You sure got that right!
True enough. Let's hope that the GOP has better sense than to take advice from the enemy!
Nice going Pam! You hit that one clean out of the ballpark!
Amen, Brother! Let him go out like a man if he has the balls for it! I'd love to see him go down in flames.
Bayh is sane. There is no place for him in today's Democratic Party.
It's a shame.
I can understand somebody being a Liberal, I was one for most of my life, but the insane left is out of control.
They're trying to slip it through a piece at a time now, which is why it's more important than ever that the GOP try to stop everything moving through the halls of Congress between now and NOV 2010!
The voters sure bought a pig in a poke in November 2008.
Having Obama in the White House probably set race relations back 20-40 years.
You're absolutely right, Pamela. I hope the Republinitwits have something up their sleeves besides taking aim at their feet, again. I've never see a bunch of self-defeating idiots like this party. All things considered, Dems are flatliners but they at least understand the sport.
It is the party and it is the ideology. There are no moderate Democrats, they all vote the same. Except it is the so called blue dog or moderate Democrats I have the least respect for. They sold out. They did the bad thing and ignored their constituents. Now they don't have the balls to face them. What a bunch of cowards. But of course this was all planned. One day prior to the deadline to apply as a candidate for the primary nobody has a chance to challenge the democratic party nominee. There will be no primary. Bayh will walk away with 13 million. What a deal! It is probably even cost effective. Remember, no primaries. May even end up with a cabinet position. This is literally one of the sleaziest things I have ever heard.
Good read Pamela! My guess is the Republicans may have heard the message and will find their courage, and begin to pull this country right. If they don’t we’ll need to get rid of them as well. The mess we’ve allowed to fester in this country will take several election cycles remedy. Get right, or get gone!
Wow! Either they're quitting their 'jobs' or they died.
Bayh is getting out while the getting's good. I think he wants as much distance from this train wreck administration as possible so he can make his own bid for the Presidency in 2012. We'll see.
When the he# is the Republican Party going to bring out a NEW Contract with America?
If Republicans do not sieze on this moment with a new, well constructed Conservative Agenda aimed at gaining back the confidence of the American People they will miss the boat.
WHERE IS NEWT? Where is the Republican Leadership? WAKE UP!!
Time to bring on Contract With America, the sequel.
Oh I agree. But I think his tone was clear, he's leaving because of HIS party, not the Republicans. He's just proving he's a cheap politician by blaming Republicans. Calling him a "cheap" politician is probably redundant however.
Another reason to not attend the health care summit or any other hare-brained summit by obama. Rats are jumping ship because of the pending humiliation!!
Now that's hope and change brother!!
These people, they say in speeches how moderate they are, but vote along with the party!! If he actually did what he said he stood for why is he leaving!!!! What cowards they are!!! Grow a spine!!!!!
In other Senate news, JD Hayworth launched his campaign today to defeat Chief Rino John McCain. He has a $100,000 money bomb going on as we speak. Go get 'em JD:
http://www.jdforsenate.com/
And like dominoes they continue to tumble.
I LOVE IT!
Who's next?
That would be a great mistake.
Uhm, won't happen. Get with the program Independents, some Republicans are bad, but ALL Democrats are bad. The two parties aren't the same at all.
Yeah, the Republicans really squandered it allright. Did you happen to notice the election of Scott Brown in Mass. and Christy in New Jersey?
Name one Marxist in the Republican party and I'll buy that tropical land you have for sale in Greenland.
Won't happen. McCain will win by 7.
These crooked, democrat senators haven't even the decency (or the capacity) to leave their posts as gentlemen–like spoilt children forced off the playground, they throw back pot shots at the remaining players, even after raking in millions after living off the dole of the American public for years, without contributing anything of value to this country.
One would think they'd feel shame for having taken so much while giving back so little, but they are liberals after all: no shame, only blame.
Nice PIC/avatar !
Buying a "Pig in a poke" is too mild…how about something new like; Voters got a mouthful of pig shit with O-souuuieee-bama.
Cabinet level positions are the next to crumble.
Won't happen. McCain is toast.
Chopper,
With all due respect, I don't believe they are playing dominoes… they're playing ADVANCED CENTAUR CHESS ~ and don't mind the 'distraction' that the tumbling of a few pawns might create.
Watch the "KNIGHT".
Watch the "BISHOP"
…and watch for late-night, closed-door, months-later declarations of amendments and "executive orders" declaring CHECK MATE. If not in November… by July of 2012.
CM Sackett
Democrats control everything, yet it is the Republican's fault? Now, let's just hope the Democrats can continue to assure that Conservatives are elected because the Republicans sure as hell won't assure that!
This is so appropriate for today…..

McVain has $15,000,000,00 in the campain coffer. However, seeing him interviewed and questioned about being challenged he was quite squeeky and nervous. I think he feels a big loss coming on and will have to fade off to that big progressive F-4 Phantom in the Sky….I say; Thank you John McCain for your service to the USA during the Vietnam war….but not much else…just go away pal. Let a true conservative try on the Bastard Dems in congress.
I agree with you AA. Dude is setting up for the run…
CL, something does not smell right, he's got $13M in coffers, no real opponent in Nov. Either a) he would not buy into a reconcillation push, b) he's getting out of Dodge to prop a future run, or c) there's something in the pipeline he knows will push us all over the edge or d) ?????
This one does not make sense like the other early retirees who were all facing a tough run….
Ms. Geller wrote,
'And in Bayh’s whiny withdrawal speech, he made sure to take parting shots at the Republicans under the guise of the well-worn canard of their “lack of bipartisanship.” Very true, very true….
But, with all due respect, I am of the opinion that announcing retirement on the day before the State primary filing deadline is and even bigger kick in the pants of the DNC…
Hopefully the eft or salamander or whatever the hell he is stays out of it. Do your research. He is a flaming progressive as well. It is because of the progressive mindset that we are where we are!
It is true that McCain has a huge war chest. Hayworth won't raise 25% of what McCain has. But, it won't matter; the people of Arizona are so fed up with McLame. Come Aug 24th, McCain is gone.
How about March 28? The day after Palin shows up in Searchlight on March 27 and there's more people in Searchlight that day than in Las Vegas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Searchlight,_Nevada – population 576.
RobertoK, My point wasn't that there are/aren't Marxists in the party but rather how they can have some unbelievable opportunities for getting back in power and engage in self-defeating behavior every time. I'm sure there are at least a few Marxists among the Repugnicans but to be a Demmunist is a sure sign that you are a wealth redistributionist. Both parties are corrupt. One being far more corrupt than the other still doesn't bode well for we, the people.
It's true that McCain has a huge war chest. But, it won't matter. The people of Arizona are so fed up with McLame. He's finished!
I agree the Repubs are to stupid to see what is happening…they try to play nice with snakes…..they will blow it again..
You're absolutely right. The democrat congress have become kamikaze pilots in service to their imperious leader, so you KNOW they will use every filthy trick in their arsenal to pass the marxist agenda before they crash and burn.
I'm wondering if Bayh was getting tired of taking his marching orders
from the Morons running the show in DC?…I'm thinking those that are
saying with 13 million in his coffers, he is biding his time to make a
run against Obumble if he keeps sinking in the polls….That sounds
logical to me…
Olympia Snowe
Your absolutley right Cowboy. It's amazing to me that the Republicans have yet to jump on the band wagon with the grassroots movement back to the constitution. I think they are still in denial about what is really going on in this country. I've been saying it for sometime now that the Republicans are also going to get a rude awakening in the next election if they don't start moving back to the right. Bob Bennett is not looking to good in Utah. He's in serious trouble with other challengers from his party.
The GOP ought to be the party of HELL NO!!! And wear it like a badge of honor!
Keep your eyes on that punk Holder. We'll see if he weathers the KSM trial.
If anyone watched Glenn Beck tonight, he pointed out that Obama is Bush on steroids. Our to do list does not match either ones wasteful floundering. Political 'parties' are not the answer.
Forget all the red or blue crap and concentrate on the bright light of Independents to include Tea Partiers, which together, is the lions share of voters. The real power lies with this group and to think that they will let America return to the dysfunctional, corrupt management again is unthinkable. Shoot the donkey and hang the elephant. They are so over.
OK Bayh left. So?
LOL
I'll see your Olympia Snowe and raise you one Susan Collins.
fools gold
Ok I'll throw in John McCain then.
Right on (and Dittos to you), sir! Nothing more need be said on this subject. My feeling is that you have much more to contribute. Don't let your voice go unheard. Speak truth to power and the devil be damned!
Newt's busy sitting beside Pelosi making climate change ads.
I'll be the voice from the right to dissent in this thread. I'll concede Bayh fell on his Democratic sword in his resignation, but it can't be denied he was one of the few voices of reason among the Democrats. He stood up to Obama at their last meeting and visibly fumed at the spending plans.
Especially in the Senate, I'm looking for statesmen on both sides. Bayh and Lieberman are among the few on the left I respect (and there ain't a lot on the right I want speaking for me.) I think the Tea Party Movement will help correct that problem.
On the other hand, I have NO problem replacing Democrats with Republicans in the other races where sheep like progressives are running for the hills or even where we can score upsets (Dirty Harry?).
Are we talking about shape shifters here? They scramble to another sewer, change their appearance and come back for another assault? Makes a lot of sense to me Sanity and I know they will not stop because they are sooooooooooooooooo close to implementing their agenda!!!!! We have to step up the vigilance and construct more barriers.
I think Bayh will not vote in favor of the reconcilliation if they try it on the Health Care debacle. Perhaps others will help to sink that POS as well. He has often been fiscally conservative but I for one will be happy to see all of the progressives sitting in a corner or immigrating to their beloved EU. It will be 50 years before Americans allow the Socialist Progressives another chance at leading. But that depends on our childeren and their ability to get the mountain of debt Obama is fiving them paid off first.
It is going to be a long hot summer and hopefully not too full of riots. I lay that responsibility at the feet of the Progressives who are inciting the hate talk.
A wink and a nod to you, my friend!
Left to their own devices I'd agree with you. But these days there is enormous pressure coming from Tea Party candidates and millions of proactive conservatives that will drag them over the finish line, despite themselves. After November you can expect to see a new wave of conservatives taking over the leadership positions in the Republican party. Then the fun will begin.
We all know there is so much more to this bowing out bs move – it's calculated for sure, as is everything they do – it is truly going to be up to 'we the people' to make this country great again, before Obumble gets all his executive orders in and done – my head hurts when I look at the filth he surrounds himself with, the sleeping with the union thugs, the radicals from his past, the disregard for what America screams it does not want – because he has a plan, and my guess is we do not know yet the full extent of this malicious plan. I have a real fear for the impending revolution, the hard working conservative battling the brain dead progressives.
With all these democrats standing down it got me thinking: Maybe ze Comrades are going back home to ze Motherland? Their jobs here are done.
This party is over!
We need to burn them out. The barrier is fire. 1 part gasoline to 1 part styrofoam or 1 part dishwashing liquid makes napalm. You choose the recipe. They both work great with the right delivery system.
I want to pose a challenge to all readers of this comment. Go to No Apology: The Case for American Greatness and listen to some of the clips from Mitt's upcoming book. Once you have listened to a clip or two, then tell me how Mitt Romney wouldn't be 100x better than Obama.
As a side note, just wait to see how little media attention the left gives Mitt's book compared to Sarah's. Mitt's entire book and even name is an attack on liberalism and progressism, but I'm willing to bed the lefties will try to sweep it under the rug because they don't want people to hear what Mitt has to say. Mitt articulately and intelligently rips them to shreds and he scares them to death. The left's best hope is for Mitt to lose the GOP nomination in 2012.

We have a dysfunctional government that can't get anything done at a time of crisis and so many stand by the sideline grinning with glee. Regardless of your party there is nothing to be gleeful with this mess.
My concern is that with all of these sitting senators and congressmen fleeing from the scene of their crimes, I worry that they will decide "We have nothing to lose. Let's go out with a bang." And since so many are resigned to leaving, they go ahead and pass ObamaCare. After all, no need to worry about getting re-elected.
OK I knew that come November the Dems were going to lose big but, Hell it's only February and look how many have quit already! Wonder how it's going to look come July lol. Keep up the pressure and lets end the Progressive/Marxist/Liberal movement for good!
I have drven through Searchlight. I hope they got the road widened by now.
Big government Kirk won our primary in illionois.
Don't forget Spector was first elected in 1980 with Regean. We will have snakes in the grass.
He probably has at least 2 cabinets, a china cabinet, and a medecine cabinet.
I'm pretty sure there's no gun cabinet though, because his guns are all hired.
I was very disappointed to hear that Sarah Palin is actually supporting John McCain. Today I heard that Scott Brown is going to travel to AZ to campaign for McCain as well! What the heck are they thinking? I don't get it.
/agree i really liked it too.
The new media has a share in this too. Backin the day we would all feel isolated and unvalidated by the MSM.
another one bites the dust.. yes
Harry Ried Reminds me of an evil Droopy Dog if you remember the cartoon. He cant read he's proven that time and time again.
13 Million dollar war chest .. and he walks ? Wonder what all of them are really up to ? Is sorros telling them they are not needed soon anyway ? Hmmmmmm
I have seen Mitt Romney bash Regean during the Regean administration. Romney socialised medicine as govenor. Romney is not one of us in his core.
You elect Romney and we will get a forth Bush term. Every year he will propose an "inovative" projram like education, prescription drugs. I want someone who will strangle the life out of the federal buracracy and kick paracites to the curb.
Oh great, another person bent on smearing the people who stand the best chance at replacing the Obamunists.
What did Ross Perot and Ron Paul have in common? They both siphoned votes away from people who could have stopped Clinton and Obama.
There's always the Czars.
Plenty of 'em.
Bayh wants to run for the White House and he needs to distance himself from ObaMarx ASAP.
Newt is Newtered!!! He's pretending to be busy with his 'think tank', or whatever.
Palin & Brown may be angling for some of that 'war chest' if Hot-shot Johnnie gets beat.
Beat, beat, beat like a drum!!!!!!!!!
When things get back to normal, Dems and Reps will once again be talking and debating on a daily basis…
The Bush Tax cut discussions was the last time that remotely resembled the atmosphere that should exist in congress.
But just maybe…. Sarah and Scott may be pouring the foundation to this new atmosphere a tad to soon.
The demolition of the old atmosphere is still not complete.
I appreciate your thoughtful comments CarolinaEagle. I am just so fed up, though, of Americans settling for so-called "moderates" who aren't really moderates. Our media, schools and politicians have continually moved the center of our politics leftwards during the past few decades. Therefore, when we hear about a "moderate" or "centrist," these are often politicians who are still in favor of very left-wing, socialist policies.
I'm glad for the few times that people like Bayh, Ben Nelson and Lieberman bucked the Leftwing tide. But people should remember that its only a few times. That's not enough. If you look at Lieberman's record, he's overall pretty leftist, and I'll never forget how he ditched his so-called principles in favor of school reform in order to get the VP nomination.
We–the people–should demand more. And that means from Republicans too.
Romney had his chance to rip them to shreds in 08. He missed his opportunity to show aggressiveness.
Too bad, he would have been an appealing candidate to many Independents. Now Masscare is in trouble,
It will hang like am albatross around his neck
I'm trying to appeal to voters who are independent, or undecided, or disillusioned Democrats.
If one is talking to people who are already convinced, then it's effective to speak with force. However, when talking to those who are on the fence, a gentle word goes a LONG way.
