Republicans Shouldn’t Take Tea Party for Granted
by Phillip DennisI recently met with a conservative Texas Congressman. I will not reveal his name because he did not give me permission and because it’s not the first time I have heard what he told me concerning the disappointing performance of Republican House Leadership since they were returned to power.
“What is it about the November election that Republican leadership doesn’t understand?” That is the first question I ask any Republican elected official who works in Washington. Each response from the numerous conservative Congressmen has been some variation of “they just don’t get it.” The Congressman who I met with said basically what I already knew, “House leadership has no plan to cut spending, repeal ObamaCare and is not conservative.”
Beyond that, the Congressman reported that he’s even heard Speaker Boehner speak derogatorily of the tea party behind closed doors. I’m not surprised. I have often said the Republican elite would like to see the tea party movement go away much more than the Democrats. I spoke last month with another Texas conservative Congressman who reported that Boehner has surrounded himself with “yes” men who are not conservatives and, if they once were, have sold their souls for leadership positions. Do you hear me Jeb Hensarling?
It’s this simple, the House Republican leaders have no plan to cut real federal spending or to repeal ObamaCare. Repealing or defunding ObamaCare was the ONE priority Americans sent the Republicans to do when they were returned to power in the House. I began to sense how things would be when Republicans pledged to cut spending by only $100 billion. $100 billion? Wow. Veni, vidi, durmi! I came, I saw, I yawned! We have a $1.65 TRILLION deficit this year alone! And, of course, Republican leadership has already retreated from the $100 billion to a measly $51 billion. You have to hand it to Republicans, they never fail to disappoint!
Republicans like Boehner and Cantor are making a very grave mistake counting on the continued support of the tea party. The Texas Congressman I met with told me “Republican leadership takes the tea party vote for granted because they believe the tea party will never vote for a Democrat.” That is true in most cases. However, the tea party will vote for more conservative Republicans in the primary! Boehner, Cantor and the rest of Republican leadership needs to face primary challengers back home. Republicans were not returned to power to be Democrat-Lite! Or RINO Republicans. One would think 63 new freshmen Congressmen who were supported by the tea party movement might wake up a few RINOs in Washington.
But you’d be wrong!
The RINOs in Congress tell us “You don’t understand. You don’t know how it works up here.” You’re right, we don’t know how it works but have pretty much figured out how it doesn’t work! And it doesn’t work with the clutch of lifetime, bureaucrats we are currently stuck with who cannot find it within themselves to cut any more than $51 billion from a $1.65 TRILLION deficit! Boehner, Cantor and the rest of their cronies should understand the tea party is not loyal to the Republican Party! The tea party is loyal to the Constitution of the United States and the principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual freedom and responsibility, and national sovereignty! Right now, all of those are being trampled on by politicians and the negative effects are becoming more evident each day!
I don’t believe America is too far from having the wheels come off. The responsible, taxpaying producers in America seem to grasp this reality yet our elected officials in Washington continue to ignore it and conduct business as usual! I expect this from the Democrats. They have a socialist agenda. However, at present, we must depend on the Republicans to carry our political water to save this country from financial disaster. So far, we are dying of thirst!
The current Republican leadership must be sent packing if they are not willing to drastically cut spending in Washington. I’m talking cutting the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Energy, Labor and the EPA. There is no need for those behemoth consumers of wealth! If those services are indeed required, let the States decide and pay for them!
I asked a few friends in November if they really believed John Boehner or Mitch McConnell would ever vote to defund or repeal ObamaCare. Each said “not a chance” at that time. So I give a final word of warning to the Republican leadership: The tea party is not your friend nor are you ours!

The republicans are not taking the TEA Party for granted. The republican establishment is……
The GOP elite running this party only see the TEA Party as a nuisance. It's in this area the TEA Party must focus. Time to remove the established elite clinging onto power.
I shredded my GOP card when Bush was in office.
If the Republican "leadership" doesn't get on board with our expectations of them, they will find themselves, and the whole Republican party, going the way of the Whigs. RINOs suck, and they must be tossed out in the primaries! Mr. Boehner, I am talking about you!
The Tea Party needs to let the GOP elite know if they don't start doing their job they won't have a job for long!
The Republicans need to wake up and smell the TEA or they are going to find themselves out of a job in 2012. OTOH, at the rate things are going we'll be lucky to still have a country to vote in by then.
The Tea Party is We the People! If they fail to listen, they are out! My Rep. is part of the GOP leadership. Greg Walden. The only Repub. from the State of Oregon. Greg, if you don't listen, you too will be gone. This is NOT ABOUT YOU! YOU WORK FOR US . Get it?
Me too!
Does some one who lives in DC have a loud speaker we could put this guy on? Seriously, He has got it RIGHT! In more ways than one.
Eunuch Boehner will never change – he is what he is and that is a compromising wimp. I doubt he will be re-elected.
Time to say to the Rinos, if you don't get it get out!
Well put!
I myself will not vote for all the same old candidates they keep trotting out every election cycle. So if the RNC endorses Newt, Huckabee, McCain, Mitt, etc. I will be abstaiing from voting for the first time in 25 years, lets see them win anything with out the votes, sort of like last presidential election which would have been different if McCain had any sort of s backbone.
FIRE BOEHNER! The Tea Party must apply pressure to remove Boehner NOW!
Yep, it's the old boy club that needs to go by the wayside and Bonkers(Boehner) is the first to go in 2012 along with the rest of his rinos. Watch carefully folks as to whom we need conservative replacements in both the house and senate. We only want fiscally responsible folks there. I thought Bonkers would wake up. Apparently, he can only cry and wet his britches. Time to put Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul in charge.
We need to show our hand. The TEA PARTY is here to stay. We will not be bullied into silence, we will not submit. If they want a fight, we are prepared and will do what it takes to free our fellow patriots from the yoke of tyranny.
Well not to worry, we know you spoke to Dr Paul… we know what he is saying backward and forward and we don't trust Boehner. We are very close to Ron Paul here in NH.
The Republican leadership would be best advised to swallow hard to get those nads back in place. They are there by our grace and can be replaced quickly. The TEA Party is not going anywhere and in fact it is still growing.
They sure were cute placating to us by reading the Constitution on day one. It seems that only a scant few understood what was read.
I suggest that you find at a minimum $500,000,000,000 worth of cuts or start checking the want adds.
"Atlas Shrugged Part One" is coming out on April 15th. I still believe there are millions upon millions of Americans who understand what the Constitution means – we really don't need judges, most of the time – and are simply exhausted by the lying, stealing, putting-future-generations-into-total-economic-slavery thugs who are in power. The Bible referred to the change coming as "birth pangs". Don't expect it to be painless. But know it will happen for the betterment of us all.
Great article. We The People need to keep the good ones we have & replace those who have NO SPINE to do what is RIGHT in the primaries.
I never expected this struggle to end in one or two election cycles anyway. I am in it for the long haul.
“The trade of governing has always been monopolized by the most ignorant and the most rascally individuals of mankind.” Thomas Paine
No more rinos and throw the DEMS OUT!!! Back to OUR roots!
AND– don't even THINK about touching my weapons.
I changed to the Libertarian Party briefly, but after 2008, I learned that being in a third party is just building a room to scream in. The true place for Conservatives and Libertarians isn't with a third party, but active during the primaries to get these RINOs out.
If you wait until November to get involved you're stuck with a choice between Socialst A and Socialist B.
Less than five months afdter the election Beohner and the rest of the candy-assed rinos have folded their tents and bugun the process of posturing for re-election. If they think I amd going to give anyone of their ilk another vote they are seriously dilusional.
D.T.O.M.!
Funny that Rand wrote a book trying to convince others to become isolated individuals but she HERSELF had very collectivist notions – supporting her TRIBE in Israel and its communist government. Rand would have been happy on a Kibbutz, apparently. Her doctrine was for the "others" to remain unorganized and therefore easier to manipulate…..
Many more firings will be required, 2010 was just a start.
Rather than fire any of House members we disagree with, we should educate them to our stand on basic issues that are common to both the Tea Party and the Republicans. We aren't enemies. We have to understand that there are long held positions by veteran politicians that will be hard to change but we have been successful at getting our agenda front and center. There may have to be some adjustments made to the makeup of the House in 2012 and we definitely need to see the Senate flip. We must work harder than we did last time. I was the outcast in my family during the 2010 elections because of my Tea Party activities but now they are coming around to our way of thinking. I think the Tea Party will be a lot bigger and certainly more persuasive this time around. We just have to keep reminding them we are here and we are paying attention.
That's not a bad idea. The Tea Party needs to start applying some pressure on these bad decisions coming out of the House. They are complacent and need to be continually reminded why they were put there.
The Left demands revolution: To anarchy, socialism and marxism.
Surprise, conservatives also demand something "revolutionary": Limited government, fiscal responsibility, and Constitutional restraints.
The Left is unprincipled and so will stoop to any means to get their way. However, we encircle them.
The Republican House doesn't "get it"? We have more work to do.
Yesterday I was getting the crap beat out of me 'cause I said something about Sarah and I said, "as long as the republican elected president next year doesn't screw up". Who knew they would screw up already? Well, I did. Republicans, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory every time!
In other words, we still have Pogressive GOP running the House. TIme to make a list and then throw them out in 2012.
I also refuse to vote outside my beliefs. Rather than go dem lite or rhino I will look at someone else.
I WILL NO LONGER VOTE THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS
"Republicans Shouldn't Take Tea Party for Granted" Too late. The party of Charmin.
If we make the 2012 election cycle we have got to put these fools out to pasture.
If we don't we are toast
Really? That's the way you read her? Oh well, guess you won't be going to the movie, then, eh?

VIVA LA TEA PARTY!
"The basis of our political system is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government." George Washington
Exactly.
Are you a forensic pathologist?
Midterm election were only the begin of what is to come. The current repub leadership was given to 2 yrs trail period to get their act together when the people gave them control of the house. So far as I have feared they have not listened to the message that was clearly sent by the people, I guess they have yet to listen to their answering machine.
The people have take a clear step in the showing what direction they want the country to be heading, the next election we will take a second step in that direction by replacing all those who are not listening to what the people are saying.
Unfortunately for the current repubs elites they still believe they are in control when in reality they have lost and are unwilling to see reality.
Most here NEVER trusted Boehner.
He can cry 20 rivers, and we'll still be up the creek without a boat, a rudder, or a paddle.(Fiscally speaking)
Time for all to go this next time.
We promised to elect them if they promised to do what we said. Contract violation by failure to execute on their behalf. Perhaps it's time for Brawny?
We the people have allowed for to long are rights to be usurped by a government that is supposed to be of the people according to the Constitution of the United States of America. It is time for the people to remind all those political elite that they are serving at our will and that we will replace all those who do not understand this simple concept.
I know you're right. 'Wish I could be more hopeful. Rush said years ago our material comfort was eroding our (spines?) to the point that most of us are incapable of taking a firm stand on anything.
No, my nickname "Morgue" was given to me by my colleagues, and is based on my last name "Morgan", and my habit of never smiling. The name stuck so I've used it as my internet handle for years.
I agree that the Repubs are treating us all as a nuisance. The answer is to keep comntacting your Rep and Senators and letting them know that you are watching them carefully and will hold them responsible for their actions, or in this case, inaction.
The Republicans WILL get it. I will have NO problem voting for a Conservative in 2012 – Republican OR Democrat
In the last election I voted for johnny isakson for the us senate. He returned to the senate and immediately rewarded his supporters in Ga. by voting to ratify the new START treaty. I find it nearly unbearable that I now have to wait 6 years to primary this guy. If he gets the good old boy vote again and manages to win the primary I will vote in all other races except his.
I saw that Nick, and this is exactly why someone like Sarah might be perfect. I don’t have a favorite, but she should run to keep the field honest, and who knows she might surprise America, and win. I remember in ’76 when Reagan was going to challenge Ford at the convention, and was convinced to back out for the good of the party, how’d that work out. Shoot ahead four years and establishment Washington attacked the great man as senile, ignorant, voodoo economics(George H.W. Bush), warmonger, etc. if you were around you remember, Walter Cronkite was asked, “who was the smarter man Carter or Reagan?” of course his answer was Carter. I would contend before we go with conventional wisdom, keep an open mind, defy the beltway narrative.
The Tea Party has rejuvenated the Republican Party and given it more clout. And who charges to the front of the line to take advantage of this new clout ? RINO's . And there will be a horde of them running for President next year, since the White House is up for grabs.
These RINO's fill me with disgust.
You bet. They should not dismiss nor should they assume the TEA Party has left the building. We stated after the election that we would be watching. We sleep no more!
And folks called me crazy last year when I refused to support Establishment Republican Party members. They said I was part of the problem. I was guilty of "splitting the vote" and even some said that it was people like me that saw a Democrat elected governor.
Well you know what? If Republicans are going to act like Democrats when elected, I would rather a Democrat actually be in office then. At least the right party gets the "credit" for what they do then.
Stop. Voting. For. Democrats.
Stop. Voting. For. Republicans. Who. Act. Like. Democrats.
It is that simple. We will only get the representation we vote FOR!
They don't believe we'll throw out a repub if that's our only choice. As someone else said we have to work in the primaries. If Constitutional candidates don't win we make sure the repub nominees understands why we won't be supporting them in the general election.
PLUS we have to make ourselves visible and heard locally everyday–at city council meetings, at the schools boards, etc, etc not just during elections. It's not just about the House–look at Wisconsin, Indiana, etc. Win locally and we'll win nationally.
Do not send one penny to the RNC.As I've posted before, my 100-100 plan for TEA party candidates.Let's say there are 25 million Tea Party members that want to donate 100 dollars to the 2012 cause, I say we pick our best 100 candidates to support and each TP member send each candidate a $1, each candidate would receive 25 million dollars in contributions, a tidy sum for an election.Something to think about.I'm tired of the RNC picking RINOs. and we the electorate have to go the polls holding our noses, ala McCain.
For decades, the RINOs have told us time and time again that we had to vote with them in order to win – winning being defined as "beating the Democrats". Well, that beating resulted in a whipping of Constitutional Principles.
Now, it is time to tell them that we are going to vote our principles, without taking the bait of "gotta vote for who can win" and they want to win win, then they had better vote with US!
Just voting (R) is not the answer. Those days are long gone.
You realize this not about tea party vs. The republicans. This is about representing your constituents vs. Big money. Big money will win every time folks. If Big money's interests happen to align with ours then we get our way, but if it doesn't, then Big money will win every time. The only way to change this dynamic is to change the model in DC where there is a revolving door between reps and lobbying firms. These guys are "in" with the elite and no amount of screaming by us is going to change that until we change the dynamic, no matter how large the tea party gets. There is no way they will sell Big money down the river if there is a choice between us and them. So what will happen then? They will give us ANY legislation that protects or doesn't affect Big money and reducing their coffers: abortion, some insurance reform around the edges to protect Big money, immigration reform, but keep cheap labor for Big money, and any bones that they can throw to us to shut us up, and protect their interests. So we better think of way to make them beholden to OUR other deficit reduction/financial interests. We can say we'll vote them out but when the money comes pouring in for campaign finance, they always take oaths to protect Big money.
Every day in the game of life their are winners and losers. We will win some of the election and we will lose some of the election, but we will always have our principles and values to rely on. When we do lose election we will all pick ourselves up start again, it is the American way to never give up on what is right.
Absolutely. It may take a few more congressional jobless moments for them to get it. Certainly the next one should be an eye opener.
We sleep no more!
The wisdom of Rush crosses the decades. He mentioned entitlements draining our national treasure. Said something about crafting a new flag showing an emaciated sow laying on its side with more piglets than teets. He said that in the 80's and well…
I think they do take a stand on issues that are common, it's when they differ that they crumble. For example, we want them to repeal Obamacare, but the mandate in Obamacare is a HUGE giveaway to the insurance companies. I don't believe they have any intention of repealing it. Sure they will try to find a way to have that giveaway AND satisfy the Tea Partiers by lessening the amount, or exempting small businesses or something but I just don't trust them to stand up to the huge amounts of money these firms supply them, the perks they get, it's the whole "elite" way of life here. Their kids play together, get married, they go to the same country clubs and charity balls. You don't really believe they would give all that up to give Tea Partiers what they want do you? They would be shunned for trying to curb the money flow. Sad, but it's that simple. I don't have the answer, I just know that we need to change this.
1. Reasserting American Exceptionalism. The Founding Fathers believed in American Exceptionalism because we are the only country in history that recognizes that power comes from God to each citizen personally. The citizen is personally sovereign. The citizen then loans power to the state. The state does not loan power to the citizen. This is the opposite of Obamaism.
2. Competing with China and India. We must commit ourselves to undertaking the necessary reforms so that we can become the most productive, most creative, and most prosperous country in the world. These economic requirements are our basis for a national security system that enables us to be the safest and freest country worldwide. If we take seriously the importance of competing with China and India, we will be the dominant country on the planet for the next hundred years. However, if we do not have the courage to compete with China and India, we will rapidly cease to be safe and will rapidly cease to be free. Rather than complaining about how China and India have saved their money, maintained trade surpluses, and weathered the economic crisis well, as President Obama has done, we must focus on how we can reform ourselves dramatically.
3. Ending the Bubble of Government. Government is too big, too expensive, too in debt, and it is not going to want to change. Like the information technology bubble in 1999, the housing bubble in 2007, and the Wall Street bubble in 2008, the fourth bubble that is government threatens our economy. Government employee unions are the new elite, and we need a replacement model.
4. Telling the Truth About Radical Islamism. The Obama administration is living in a fantasy world; they won’t tell the truth about our enemies. We must have the courage to tell the truth about radical Islamists, and we must have the courage to act on that truth. We must identify our opponents, be honest about the scale of the threat, and undertake a grand strategy to defeat radical Islamism.
5. Empowering Every American to Pursue Happiness. Since we truly believe that every American is endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights – among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – then we must be determined to go into our country’s poorest communities, whether it is in the valley, the inner city, or poor, rural areas. We must change the culture; we must change the bureaucracy; we must change the tax code; we must do whatever it takes to ensure that every American is truly capable of pursuing happiness, as they have been endowed by their Creator with that right. When conservatives are truly serious about all American citizens having the right to pursue happiness, we will create a 75% majority, and we will be able to offer our children and grandchildren a vastly better future than the bureaucratic welfare state of dependency, coercion, and ineffectiveness we face today.
With this movement of citizens all across this land, we can replace the Left and bring America back to the country it should be.
"The basis of our political system is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government." George Washington
You need to look at their voting record (if they have one) BEFORE they start pandering to the Tea Party for their votes. Otherwise you get lies to tell us what we want to hear then they change once in office.
So. Tea Party activists threaten the GOP under the guise of having a mandate. Under the threat of flexing their muscles again as they did in November. Telling the establishment GOP to buckle up or their gonna be fired.
But Palin can't win? Palin can't get elected? OK, let em see if I'm understanding this.
Tea Party can fire GOP at whim, threaten the GOP to tow the line or else, but they can't elect Palin?
I guess we can only do what the LMS says we can do…. they said she is unelectable, and I hear the oft repeated here and other conservative sites as if it's true. You guys are schizo.
Ok. Now I understand. Not.
Is that really a Tea Party event in the picture? Why aren't there any black people?
You fell for it again!
Claspur posted this link on another thread but it deserves it's own space. West once again shows us what presidential "material" looks like. So does Palin in her video up top.

As for GOP…they are obviously devoted to nominating whoever's TURN it is…..you know, like the fabulously successful "turn" McCain had last time out! It's past time to get serious with the GOP. These wanks STILL think they can "MANAGE" the Tea Party if they say the right "buzz words."
DO YOU THINK WE ARE FOOLS, GOP? DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE US OVER A BARREL? THAT WE WILL CAVE AND VOTE FOR YOUR DODDERING OLD "IT'S MY TURN" CANDIDATE JUST TO SPITE OBAMA.
FU, GOP! WAKE UP AND LISTEN!
WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT "SETTLE" FOR WHOEVER YOU HAND US. WE WILL VOTE IN EVERY PRIMARY YOU HOLD TO SNUFF OUT YOUR PATHETIC, LIMP WRISTED, RINO CANDIDATES. WE WILL NOT SUPPORT THEM OR FINANCE THEIR CAMPAIGNS.
PAY ATTENTION TO US, GOP!
WE'RE NOT KIDDING!
At the risk of adding to my cuts and bruises, the LSM today and it's lackeys (or is that the other way around) during this next presidential cycle will be merciless in their attacks and will include violence against conservatives. They know, as well as, we, that this is their last chance for another 20 years or so, perhaps longer, to completely take over this country and they will act like it is their lives on the line. They have waited and schemed for 100 years, they will wait no longer. Mark my words!
I have to admit, I thought Boehner was a standup guy. Now? Sorry dude, you gotta' go.
See, I told you.
I said it last summer and I was told that unity was more important than independence.
I said it last fall and many derided my sentiments as premature and cynical.
The truth is that our emancipation will not begin until we walk out of the door and leave the Republican and Democratic Party behind us forever. Then, and only then, will we be treated as equals. Until that day we are the vassals held captive in a corrupt system of governance for the ruling-class, by the ruling-class and because of the ruling-class.
You heard it here first and now you are hearing it again. Contact your Congressman and Senator and let them know exactly what you intend to do. Everything else is just idle gossip.
Let the Republicans do what they want,…….
we have already made our plans.
Everytime the RNC sends me a notice for dues, help and beg money I have been sending it back with a note attached. "When the Republican Party defunds Obamacare and goes as far as to shut down government then my contributions will continue. Until then I will be sending any monies I have to various Tea Party websites. Your move RNC!
Without question, the liberals are hysterical, as is all of statist Washington. The Tea Party is not supposed to happen in America, where the producers take to the street. We’re supposed to run our businesses and be thankful – as the song goes- “they don’t take it all.” Conservatives also have an opportunity, that comes once a generation, too vanquish the progressive movement once and for all, and if we run a Dole, McCain, Bush, etc. nothing will change, for that I’m certain (see article above). We must have an able counter puncher, who sneers at the press for the vile contemptuous jerks that they are, and America will stand up and cheer. Reagan did that continually, going over the press, and establishment Washington hated him for it. I don’t know if that will be Sarah, we’ll see!
Commie wanna cracker? Commie wanna cracker?
You've only posted that drivel a zillion times. The least you can do is come up with something original.
I rallied and made calls for Bachmann. I am not happy with her now. She is great in the House but now is putting together an exploratory team for President. Obama will get re-elected if the Republicans can't get their act together with ONE great candidate instead of 20 want-to-be fools.
I like your note! Can I borrow it?
Ah, gotcha. I'm a physician and was just curious.
I'm with you. I'll vote third party if necessary.
Boehner was elected to leadership based on his expertise. He is using his expertise to marginalize the Constitutional Conservatives and small govt proponents. How hard is it to see that building the dependence of Americans on the govt dollar is great for expanding and solidifying the Democrat-ick voting base. The next step is that Republicans and small govt proponents become politically irrelevant. Why do these people seek their own extinction?
This all ends in a type of feudal system where the worker insects of America feed the fat dependent class as they scream at us demanding ever more–re:Wisconsin's public Unions.
Welcome to Communism, Fascism or Stalinism–whichever one wins.
My like minded friends here at the Bigs, it is time to serve tea in DC again. We all need to organize a rally soon and confront the weak repug leadership. Throw out a date and let's go git it done. I can tell we need to become frequent polite uninvited guests in our nations capital.
Same reason there are no white people at the Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson get togethers. And same reason there weren't any minorities on the MSNBC line up up until a few months ago.
So since there are not any one that you can see from a different race the TEA party is racist by your logic. Lets if the Latinos or African Americans have a gathering with out any other races present are they racist?
Both of your post are right on. 2010 was only the beginning. It will take more elections to drain the SWAMP. The good old boys think its business as usual. I have never liked Boehner. It was said (After the 2008 elections) the republican party is crippled. Boehner was crying and the tea party had to put them back into the running. Now they think THEY CAN BLOW US OFF. Yes I am registered republican, the dems will not get my vote, but the repubs have to earn my VOTE. Better get to work BOYS
Sorry, to quote Larry Elder: "Your race card has expired…"
KP, I appreciate your sentimentality but I believe you are naively misguided. The RePUBICan establishment is only using the optics of tea party issues to gain more support. They don't really believe in it at all. They've used us again, just like the dozens of other times. Enough is enough with these fake conservatives, it's time for them to find new jobs which don't involve the use of taxpayer money. They aren't going to come to our side. They aren't going to stop playing games with our money. It's time to vote them out.
Gentle Readers,
Dear Mr. Dennis,
Points are well taken, however, the political reality we face right now is that the Democrats have the majority in the Senate, and as of this writing Pres. Obama is still a Democrat. Republicans only have the majority in the House of Representatives.
However, at least with a Republican House there is some prospect for modest fiscal discipline, restraint in the growth of government programs and undue regulatory burdens. There is a business and taxpayer friendly political environment in the House, if nowhere else.
The Democrats are blocking all efforts for even the slightest spending reductions in their preferred programs. They are certainly Defense and Law Enforcement, but none of their social-engineering projects.
Elections in 2012!
John Lepant Brighton CO
While reading this I was mentally shouting YES! These Republican leaders(?) in Washington make me SICK. All of the ones who are not on board for repealing ObamaCare and MASSIVE spending cuts must be primaried!
It was obvious from the beginning that it is the Tea Party patriots against the establishment political class.
DEM or REPUBLICAN THERE IS NO PRACTICAL DIFFERENCE. They have far more in common with each other and their $$$ supporters than with WE THE PEOPLE.
Obamasshat got one thing right CHANGE IS COMING; GOD BLESS AMERICA.
What she wrote and what she DID were different things.
I'm with ya K.
KP, ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME? A leopard can't change it's spots. And if it could, how could you ever trust it?
Nick, it's because the ones in charge are "practical" and "electable". Your favorite kind.
I WILL NOT GET PRACTICAL! Practical is what gets us RINOs! Practical gets us House leadership(?) that won't defund ObamaCare NOW!
YOU WIN BY FIGHTING TO WIN. NOT BY HOPING NOT TO LOSE!

Sounds like a plan Cruz.
It IS a long haul thing…in one cycle there is a point of TOO MUCH TO REASONABLY EXPECT. But the impact of the Tea Party is undeniable and will remain strong so long as we understand the leftist had 40 years to wreck things and they did a very good job of it!
This don't right it's self in one cycle or two! And it's not just our government that's been wrecked!
We must be visionary — as the Colonial American patriots were threw their bitter, gnawing ordeal. This is for our kids and grand kids.
If leftists thought of their kids and grand kids, they wouldn't be destructive! They wouldn't be leftists. They seek some reward "NOW!" as they chirp so often and so loudly. And the reward they seek they expect me and you to pay for! Now!
The Tea Party will prevail.
You tell 'em Tater!
John,
Yes the Republicans do control the House. Which means they control the Government if they choose to via the purse strings. The Senate cannot initiate spending bills and the Executive branch can't spend any money that hasn't appropriated. The current leadership(?) in the House simply chooses not to use the leverage it has. Which is precisely the problem.
I WILL NOT GET PRACTICAL! Practical is what gets us RINOs! Practical gets us House leadership(?) that won't defund ObamaCare NOW!
YOU WIN BY FIGHTING TO WIN. NOT BY HOPING NOT TO LOSE!
Ahh,c'mon, back off Rick. You are confusing practical with craven self interest, the mark of the rino and most of the lilly livered Repubs now holding office. In this coming fight it is the cool calculating heads like West, Rubio,Chaffitz and McCotter, to name but a few, that will help win this thing. Not voices bordering on the hysterical, who actually attack people on their side, like you. Didn't mom or dad ever tell you, you will never win a fight if you are blinded by hate and in this case, you are taking it out on me, who is standing with you. I'm really sorry dude, but if we're in a crowd of Teaparties I don't want to be anywhere near you 'cause the LSM cameras are sure to focus on your antics. Niven's second law (I think) Never stand, facing armed opponents, next to the guy who is throwing sh!t. Words to live by.
What you see on the conservative sites are the beginnings of a good solid contested primary election. ..and a bunch of liberals trying to convince people that Palin is unelectable and that Obama cannot be defeated. The Tea Party, conservatives, most Republicans, many independents, and even quite a few Democrats know better!
Please let your voice & opinions be heard and join the following Tea Party websites to become part of the movement in taking our country back from liberal/progressive left wing loons who are destroying capitalism and the Free Market System that has built this great country:
The Conservative Party is "fighting" two wars within our own borders as we speak. The first one is with the liberal/progressive Party of Food Stamps and the second is with Muslims trying to bring Sharia Law into America and its court systems and making the U.S. Islamic/Sharia compliant. Both of these wars have to be won or the U.S. and its Constitution will fail. Defeating liberalism will defeat Sharia Law since Muslims are using liberalism and the gullible, Democratic base as their vehicle to advance their radical agenda here in the U.S.

Sorry Nick, but you are the one who is blind. Practical (only vote for who can get elected) gets you Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy et al. Practical would not have gotten us Rubio. Were you on the Rubio bandwagon when he announced? Or did you jump on after he became the favorite to win? Remember he was down by more than 30 points when he entered the race against the ever Practical Charlie Crist.
I'm taking it out on you because it is people like you who are far too willing to park their convictions (assuming you have some) at the curb and support candidates who invariably disappoint once they get elected and start acting like Democrat Lite.
Indeed, we’re at the beginning of this process. A couple more elections and these statist bastards will get the point.
The more contestants who enter the primary race the better. Let the RINO's in DC and the Democrats watch us sort the RINO's out state by state, until the only man/woman left standing is a strong true conservative. My personal favorite is a Palin/West ticket, but I will vote for ANYONE but Obama. If we thinkg Obama has been bad his first four years, wait and see the damage he will do with no election hanging over his head!
As it is with all people I have ever met. Well, maybe we all don't write down what we want to happen or what we think we see happening in this world but there is no such thing as a person who does exactly what he says he will do. Except maybe Christ. Yes, I brought His name up. Rand was an atheist – I certainly part with her on that score. And she was quite promiscuous – again I don't agree with that behavior. But, if you have read her book "Atlas Shrugged", it is amazing how she has nailed the corrupt and philosophically challenged people who have assumed power in America.
