University Gone Wild: Senior UMSL Administrators Bare (Almost) All in Embarrassing Internal Emails
by Philip ChristofanelliAs expected, I won few friends within the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) administrations by exposing the communist indoctrination that occurred in their respective classrooms.
In response to a threatening letter I received from UMSL demanding that I meet with them for questioning, I submitted a Sunshine Law records request to the University of Missouri system. The emails below constitute UMSL’s reply.
Large portions were redacted under the questionable pretense that they contained privileged communications between UMSL and its attorney.
What I learned from the visible portions was quite disturbing: numerous high-level university officials conspired in an attempt to punish me.
When this strategy proved unsuccessful, they engaged in a smear campaign against me, partly relying on inaccurate liberal blogs as “evidence.” Because senior UMSL administrators refused to take responsibility for their blatant failure of oversight in their labor studies classes, they resorted to maligning the student who spoke out about the unprofessional behavior of his professors.
For example, after learning that their professors were accused of encouraging criminal behavior and recruiting for the Communist Party during class, the first concern of Provost Glen Cope (UMSL) and Vice Provost Mary Lou Hines Fritts (UMKC) was to find who leaked the tapes and to punish them.
Admitting that she had not even watched the complete tapes herself, Cope asked Hines Fritts: “Also, do you know the name of the student who assisted in ripping the videos? If he/she is a student registered at UMSL, then we would like to proceed with student conduct actions relative to the rules that have been broken…Since the semester is nearly over, we need to act quickly.”
Cope went on to ask in another email: “Do you have enough that we could make a student conduct inquiry relative to the appropriate usage policy? ”
Hines-Fritts responded: “The issue is whether it can be proven that HE actually did it…IF in fact he invited or facilitated the camera person on Saturday, that alone I would think would be a violation.”
It should be noted that I did not invite anyone to my class. The “camera person” to whom they referred was Adam Sharp, a blogger who my professor, Don Giljum (who is still welcome to teach at UMSL), attacked in the hallway during class. UMSL subsequently confiscated Sharp’s footage.
An employee of UMKC searched my name online and discovered that I am, in fact, a conservative. After learning that apparently incriminating information, Provost Cope proclaimed: “This appears to be the student who was involved in the Labor Studies video ‘ripping.’…If so, is there anything we can do of a student conduct nature? It may be that it’s not worth doing but we should at least check.”
The University officials did their damnedest to contrive a way to punish me, all the while bending over backwards to protect their faculty members. They did not determine that I violated a policy, and then subsequently decide that I should be punished. Rather, they first decided that I needed to be punished, and then floundered back and forth trying to invent a reason.
On the basis of my political affiliations alone, they clearly had convicted me before I even set had a chance to offer a defense. I showed up to UMSL’s “investigation” with an attorney. They decided at that point they did not want to talk to me anymore, and all conduct investigations were dropped. As soon as they discovered they couldn’t bully a powerless student, their bravado vanished.
Another chain of emails was prompted by an inquiry by David Russell, Commissioner of the Missouri Department of Higher Education. Russell read my account of the labor studies class on BigGovernment.com and wisely asked for an explanation. UMSL responded by continuing its cover up and engaging in a smear campaign against me.
Margaret Brommelsiek, Chief of Staff to the Chancellor at UMKC, had no qualms about spreading baseless rumorsabout me. She wrote in one email: “He has a long history at Washington University of doing this type of thing and it appears only enrolled in this course at UMSL for this purpose.” She also referred to hyper-partisan blogs written by Media Matters and Crooks and Liars, both of which later ran fanciful, albeit creative, confabulations about my life, connections, and motives.
What Brommelsiek said was a outright lie. I do not have a “long history of doing this type of thing,” nor do I have any history at all. Brommelsiek simply endorsed politically motivated lies about me in order to protect her organization.
Contrary to what Brommelsiek and other administrators claimed, I do not have the time, money, or desire to take classes in order to tape and embarrass professors. To be perfectly honest, I took the class because I needed three credits and the course only required me to show up seven times. I’m simply not as nefarious and crafty as a lot of liberal bloggers would like to believe.
While I was unsurprised by these attacks when they appeared on left-wing blogs, I was saddened that I also had to defend myself from the supposed adult professionals at the University of Missouri who felt it necessary to spread rumors about me.
Next, UMSL Chancellor Tom George wrote: “Our people are very familiar with this student and what has occurred, and we can provide more details as necessary.” It would appear that the Chancellor was lying. Neither he nor Cope knew anything about me until Hines Fritts provided them with information from the Internet. UMSL Provost Glen Cope chimed in by saying, “The student who wrote this blog is the same student who apparently enrolled in the Labor Studies class at UMSL/UMKC for this express purpose.” She then claimed that she had seen nothing inappropriate in whatever course videos she had watched.
I guess that means that Provost Glen Cope believes it is appropriate for public university professors to encourage their students to destroy the capital of their employers as a means of gaining a stronger bargaining position. She must also believe that it is appropriate to encourage students to stalk and terrorize their bosses. For more examples, view my previous post on BigGovernment.com; it suffices to say that there were countless inappropriate occurrences in this class. If Provost Cope does not endorse such extremism, the only other possible explanation is that she had not actually watched the whole class as she had claimed, and was trying to cover up her own negligence and dishonesty–maligning me, a student, in the process.
UMSL’s own Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Ron Gossen admitted in one email that “Provost Cope, regardless of the accuracy of the student’s blog, is firmly behind the appropriateness of the course.” Thank you, Mr. Gossen, for confirming that no matter how correct I was, Cope had bound herself to protecting her professors and attacking me.
These attacks by University officials on a student are outrageously unacceptable. These people are government employees with Ph.D’s, paid by your tax dollars, and their idea of a fair investigation into serious charges of academic integrity is to consult Media Matters and subsequently attempt to punish and attack a student who spoke out about what he saw in class.
As a student, I’ve been told countless times that Internet blogs are not an academically acceptable source of information. It was on the basis of blogs and Internet links alone, however, that these officials falsely concluded I was a part of some vast conspiracy to embarrass them.
The university should recognize that its attempt at cover-up and character assassination has consequences. Following the break of the UMSL story, I received an anonymous disturbing email which threatened violence against me and included my address. Yesterday, I found that someone had come into my backyard and busted up all my clay herb pots. I have since filed a police report which estimated $60 in damage to my property.
UMSL’s failure to investigate its professors’ disturbing conduct honestly has given credence to the false story that I was somehow “planted” in order to frame these poor, innocent scholars. Now, I’m left to deal with the violent political radicals who feel a need to punish me.
The state legislature and Governor Nixon must act to clean up Missouri’s university system before any more students are indoctrinated and abused in this manner. I urge readers in Missouri to call your elected officials and encourage them to read my two posts on BigGovernment.com.
In the meantime, I ask that all Missourians and alumni withhold any donations to the institution. Parents who are considering sending their kids to University of Missouri schools should definitely think twice. Any dissent from the liberal university status-quo could make your child their next victim.

I believe the Obama regime wants EVERYONE to attend schools like this! Pretty soon he will make it mandatory!!
The Taxpayers need to shut the UMSL down, and fire all the Staff, then sell the Buildings and equipment to a for-profit School.
"we would like to proceed with student conduct actions relative to the rules that have been broken"
…..tis a shame they cannot name the broken rule. Questioning a pigressive agenda breaks no rule in this country.
I'm afraid it will soon be necessary to purge our great country of these leftists through violence. Please leftists, move to Cuba while you still can. Your vision of Freedom has been thoroughly implemented there already, and true second amendment loving Americans have all the guns! A revolution is forming that you can only lose! And take Barry with you, TODAY!
Fascism, alive and well… Err.. I mean "progressivism". Ooops.
It is no wonder Obama took over the student loans programs in the country. Today, the government controls ALL student loan funding…
So they can tell you where you can go.
Dude, you are gonna get paid. Maybe not in money, if you are smart (and it appears you are) you won't go that direction. You will be paid in satisfaction as those so blatantly guilty lose their jobs.
This example is exactly why those in "education" via their unions, so oppose freedom of information legislation. It is why they try to keep so much secret. They know full well that when push comes to shove (as in the little people fighting back) their own actions are shown to be those of bullies and that tie fighting back, the whistle blowing, is warranted!
Thanks Chris, for having the courage to stand up to the corruption.
Sounds to me like the university officials are pretty worried that their "agenda" made public will affect the way most people view them, as well they should. Not being one that promotes lawsuits often I think Mr. Christofanelli should file a civil suit against the UMSL.
Philip, keep on telling the truth, and stay on your courageous track. You have many supporters.
See if your local law enforcement has a Riot Team Instructor or some sort of crowd control training civilians can attend. The few in my state accept volunteers and I can't wait to crack a pigressive in the skull.
It should be beyond obvious by now that appealing to truth and reason in any discussion with these zombie retards is like offering water to a rabid dog. Only somebody who freaks them out, scares them sh!tless and makes them vomit in their dark berry mocha cappuccino venti lattes with terror can possibly be worth supporting. Missourian's — it's time to "Show-EM".
Exactly! If they had a case, they would have continued the inquisition of the student, even with an attorney present.
Civil lawsuit! Get them under oath. The truth shall set you free!!!!!
add the Gladney verdict to this and one can see just how deadly a stranglehold the Progressive left has on the St Louis area- and why detritus like the Carnahan clan- hacks all- somehow stay in power.
Communists do NOT like to be exposed, yet they are proud of their facile intellectual nitwittery. So, they do what rats all over the world do when cornered- snarl, and attack.
Then hide behind the walls of academia.
Nice…
Crazy stuff here…Protect and defend yourself, seriously. The progresives will come after anyone, anywhere and at anytime. My 357 stays loaded and ready at all times but only to be used if absolutely necessary. Some shinny stainless in there face would make them cry like a baby.
Democrat's view of Tea Party comments:
U done good Phil!
Actual Tea Party Comments: All subversives/leftists/progressive/marxists understand that controlling the education system is of PRIME importance–Thanks for the expose Phil— U DUN GOOD
As a Missouri resident I am very concerned. I have emailed many of my local state house and senators and have received little interest or concern. Appreciate your courage Phillip! Great job. As a graduate of UMKC, I will never donate a dime to that institution.
The vermin are certainly trying to dig a big enough hole to hide in. They appear too foolish to realize that it appears to be a VERY BIG (POLITICAL) GRAVE. EDUCATED IDIOTS scurrying to hid from SUNSHINE!
Take a note, lefties: This is what speaking truth to power actually looks like. Instead of whining about how "rich people" have too much money, why not be worried about being indoctrinated into becoming a weak servant of the State? Does this not offend you in the slightest?
This story offers more proof that the inmates are running the asylum when it comes to our universities.
Phillip, what you have done and continue to do is to be admired and replicated. You are exemplifying my three favorite traits, common sense, integrity and good judgment. Well done and keep up the good work. You have no idea how many of us can and will help you in this as well. It is the exposure of these elements that will begin the correction and restore libety.
As a parent with a high school senior getting ready to make her college choice, this is a distressing story. I am incredibly concerned that my daughter's ability and desire to think for herself will be met with scorn by academics and administrators who demand students toe the liberal line.
Makes two of us except I never bother to attend UMKC. I got lucky and detected the madness about 20 years back and bailed out of the system. Hasn't hurt my career at all.
Feminist ' alternate ways of knowing ' won't hold up in court … unless it's Sotomayor's ' wise Latina ' court
"" Ph.D’s, … and their idea of a fair investigation into serious charges of academic integrity is to consult Media Matters
As a student, I’ve been told countless times that Internet blogs are not an academically acceptable source of information.""
Nice summary of what a PhD is actually worth …
Actually existing Socialism … in our American universities
What if conservatives actually encouraged their children to attend the university and challenge the instructors and higher-ups? Maybe it is time to take control of the situation somewhat by throwing their political agendas right back in their faces? My oldest son was the only voice of reason a couple of years ago in college, during the presidential election, and he actually received death threats for wearing a conservative t-shirt to school. Lets send our kids, in droves, to sit in the classrooms and at least make it uncomfortable for leftists who spew their ignorance all of our young people.
I can guarantee you, your daughter will not be allowed to think for herself unless she agrees with her instructors. She will be given poor grades and told she is wrong if her politics lean even slightly to the right. With four children over 20 of my own, it has proven to be true over and over again.
Thanks for exposing what these "teachers" are actually doing in these overpriced indoctrination centers – keep kicking ass and taking names!
Keep up the good fight, Philip! Don't let these so-called teachers and professors bully you. Their actions against you have been a disgrace, and their entire conduct has been anathema to the ideals of free and open debate they are suppose to represent.
That's why I refer to Progressives as vermin….
carriers of a disease that's fatal to freedom and liberty, and responsible for the deaths of millions, and soon, many more….
It never ceases to amaze (amuse?) me how they fear exposure to their TRUE agenda and beliefs. They KNOW it is unacceptable to a vast majority of Americans.
I look forward to the debut of Big Education and may it be filled with more shining-the-light truths from other brave students!
Excellent job, Philip! Keep up the good work!
I think you have it all wrong. You see, attacking corporations for the progressive agenda is probably just a 200 level course. I am sure this was just research for the new 300 level course coming out this fall, "Personal Intimidation and Cover-up to promote Social Justice".
Others are right…hang in there and don't be discouraged, you have MANY people supporting you. I agree that you should take them to court, but don't bother if you are going to settle. The only way to stop this behavior is to expose it as much as possible. You have been brave to go this far, please don't give in.
UMKC did little for me in terms of career, I got some nice student loans though.
Sadly what is being reported here is common in many other universities across the country. Instructors abound in those institutions who are flaming lefties and they are routinely protected by the leftists in charge of the university. It's all about the "diversity of ideas" they claim yet try to find a true Conservative instructor or even one that leans slightly to the right at those institutions and you won't find a single one.
I agreee. I have seen it in the mandated courses that have nothing to do with a persons major in the college careers of my first two kids, including courses such as Diversity 101, etc. If you can afford it, go for the private college. If not, be prepared to be harassed for contrary opinions.
I have said this elsewhere, and it's not even my idea – but I'm gonna push it, but we realy need a Big Education site. We shoulden't let childeren and young adults be indoctrinated and/or forced to hide their legitimate views. Let's shine some light on the problem.
I avoided student loans like the slave chains they are. I know several people older than I am that are still trying to pay the dern things off and have little to nothing to show for the debt. That's the lesson DC needs to learn. <DIV style=”FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: bookman old style, new york, times, serif”> <DIV style=”FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif”> <DIV></DIV>
they are all Satan's minions, to be sure- and as such, bring every sort of plague and pestilence.
All in the name of Utopianism.
Sure looked good in Mao's China, or Stalin's USSR…
Bravo Philip! It's amazing to see how much irritation one honest person can cause a pack of liars. I just hope the faculty members engaging in this despicable behavior are punished appropriately.
Phillip your courageous stand and your excellent writing are commendable. We have your back. you might try and find a local Tea Party group to amplify your voice to the Governor and the legislature. Progressives simply HATE the light. Let the citizen revolution continue. By your actions you encourage us all.
Let's open up a dialogue with this great Missouri Institution.
Stop any public funding. Maybe a class action suit by the citizens of the state?
Drive by university……DO NOT HIRE THEIR GRADUATES!
I will be paying more attention to what my professors are saying in my Fall classes. I'm glad I waited to attend college. Thanks for courage, Philip.
I've got "news" for you. Pretty much all universities and colleges are like this. I've said before and will keep on saying that as far back as the 90's when I was in grad school, the debate was never about whether the free market was better than socialism of some hue, but rather it was about which ideology would work best to destroy capitalism, Christianity and (depending on the hue of Marxist thought) Western Civilization. I think the only difference is that now they allow these discussions more openly at the undergraduate level (whereas in my time we veiled them for undergrads in discussions that targeted narrow aspects of our culture).
And yes, much of the curriculum is controlled by the government. The only two schools that (so far) can stand free of most of the regulations are Hillsdale and Grove City (and maybe Liberty?). They do so only by not accepting students who need financial aid, since that would be tantamount to accepting government money to teach a non-regulated curriculum (and especially so since such loans are now completely controlled by the federal gov).
If my grandfather hadn't died of natural causes, he (and his family) would have been a victim of one of Stalin's purges, and I, likely, wouldn't be writing to you now…
Also….who goes.
a bit of advice (worth exactly what you are paying for it).
First, she should read C.S.Lewis's "That Hideous Strength" even if she doesn't quite get why it is important and pay close attention to what happens to Mark in the story.
Then, the best thing she can do so that she doesn't sabotage her education and future success. is latch on to specific values they *say* they believe in that she can share (I chose "freedom" and "non totalitarianism") and then accept the terms of their argument while holding fast to her definition of those values. What that does is force them to outwardly negate those values (and reveal their hypocrisy) or at the very least reveal their false definitions of them. At the same time she'll look like a brilliant and thoughtful student and will probably do quite well. It is arduous work and requires that she overtly accepts some unfortunate assumptions, but it is a way she can succeed in the classroom while also throwing doubt about the whole mess into the minds of her peers.
Then, pray constantly.
God Bless you and her and good luck.
Exactly. The very reason that the student loans were "nationalized" (how they managed to get away with this in the health care deform bill still boggles my mind). We can all look forward to the next loan debacle when the government backed student loans replace/add to the mortgage loan crisis.

I fear that we will soon see government grants and loan applicants being told what degrees they will be allowed to pursue and which students are even allowed in the program based on political affiliation.
My youngest daughter started college last year and was required to purchase and report on an anti-capitalist book as part of her freshman orientation. She is attending a state university here in Tennessee, where we received a large federal education grant last year. After inquiring about whether this questionable reading material was mandated by the grant, I received no answer. Since she had read Ayn Rand's "Anthem" at the age of 10 (and many times afterwards) she was scathing in her criticism about the book. As of now, we have not received her financial aid package for the upcoming year. Hmmmm……
GO PHILIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice job!!!!
If you need a loan, yes.
I managed to get a B.A. without a loan, but graduated at 31. Yes the G.I. Bill paid for some, but the majority came from the now defunct Washington State G.E.T. program which allowed for the purchase of future tuition at the current price. With tuition going up so fast, it was a great deal — too great in fact, that's why it's gone. I thank my late grandfather all the time for purchasing 2 full years of tuition back when it was in the $2,500/year range. When I used it, it was about $6,000/year, now I don't doubt it's $10,000+.
Nice work fellow American. One reason I am a fan of mandatory military service is to teach American History through the lens of those that defend her honor. Not only that, boys become men [not all] but a good majority, there are bad apples in every bushel.

I am thinking more along the lines of starve the beast.
Let the chairs get more and more empty and hit the colleges in the pocketbook.
As the boomers retire, the protectionism of degree requirements will fall by the wayside because employers simply cannot tolerate the idiocy exampled by those (most of those) holding them.
This gives credence to what a college degree is actually worth. We all know what B.S. stands for. M.S. is "More of the Same". PhD is simply "Piled Higher and Deeper"
There is no difference.
Join the Guard.
They have an annual requirement for Riot Control training.
I would not get to cozy with local law enforcement, unless you were very familiar with a few of them from that department.
Great article, and great job laying out the facts of this farce, Mr. Christofanelli.
Mandatory? No. Free? Yes. Create the perpetual Liberal Student, free to spend decades hanging around the coffee shops, debating whether its better to take over the producer's industry or simply tax and regulate them.
Read Pre-Revolution Russian Literature. It will give you an idea of what we have as a future. Then read post Russian Literature and get scared to death that its already here…
My guess is that if you make this comment a year from now you'll get a lot more "thumbs-up" than you're currently getting.
"Or, again, we like to think of ourselves as a peaceful nation and a peace-loving people. OK. I just this minute heard the adorable Scott Simon on the radio talking about the current economic crisis, and in a throw-away line he said that the US military is always a growth industry because we live in a dangerous world. That causal claim, a stuttering cliché so sweetly innocent on Simon’s tongue, holds the “dangerous world” responsible for the US government spending a
trillion dollars a year on war (the equivalent of all other countries combined) and holds, further,
that the “dangerous world” makes the Pentagon one of the single largest polluters on earth, and
the US the world’s leading exporter of weapons (including hand guns!). This may be our shared
common sense here and now, but it’s far from a unanimous view in global terms, and it’s even
possible, here and now, to reverse the causal clause: because of US policy, the world is a
terribly dangerous place." Bill Ayers http://www.aera.net/uploadedFiles/Divisions/Curri...
Sol Stern wrote about Bill Ayers' destructive plans for our children's minds in 2008: "Ayers’s school reform agenda focuses almost exclusively on the idea of teaching for “social justice” in the classroom. This has nothing to do with the social-justice ideals of the Sermon on the Mount or Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Rather, Ayers and his education school comrades are explicit about the need to indoctrinate public school children with the belief that America is a racist, militarist country and that the capitalist system is inherently unfair and oppressive. As a leader of this growing “reform” movement, Ayers was recently elected vice president for curriculum of the American Education Research Association, the nation’s largest organization of ed school professors and researchers." Read it here: http://www.city-journal.org/2008/eon1006ss.html The indoctrination of our children won't stop until we DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT and get rid of these America haters within our education system!
Good luck to her! Wish I lived near by so I could guide her on how to use their own words against them. It's the best way to do well AND have your say. (Most the time they have no idea what just happened to them and they give you a good grade.)
I'm curious.
What does US Military spending have to do with USML Labor propaganda and teaching violent confrontation as labor resolution in the classroom?
What pre-revolutionary Russian literature would you suggest, since the Czars were about as friendly to dissidents as the Politburo was later?
Meanwhile, reading Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy will show you people who believed that change needed to come, but who would never have been communists. Anna Akhmatova and her circle were just before the revolution and some of them survived and even continued to be published, but you can sense the strain of party pressures upon them even as you read their works.
For those who don't like to read a lot, take a glance at the film Reds. I think the Hollywood types who made it would never imagine that I see in it a stinging indictment against the pie-in-the-sky idealism which drove John Reed and the unintended consequences so relevant to today of collectivist statism stimulating Islamic jihad as a useful tool in the war against capitalism.
So, are you advocating the Maoist Culutral Revolution, only in reverse?
The difference is that progressivism is fascism "…sold by the drink" -HT to PJ O Rourke
"Sure looked good in Mao's China, or Stalin's USSR… "
Just if your only reference were the propaganda posters- smiling sun washed faces adorned with ribbons and huge sheaves of wheat…
Glad you're with us!
Sent an email to my Missouri State Representative. Carry on the fight.
Or, like me, will get a poor grade because her left- leaning prof will let peers vote on classroom participation and performance. This was at St. Louis Community College at Meremac- I was there to get my prerequisites out of the way inexpensively.
Later at a private Christian college I found no classroom indoctrination in politics but lots of syncretism and anti-Biblical rhetoric in the religious department. In light of the pro-Palestinian/ anti Israel and anti-Gulf War chapels, I did a political cartoon which essentially called liberal thinking simplistic. I wasn't allowed to enter the teaching program, being told that I wouldn't be able to get a job.
Send them to trade schools to become plumbers, welders, electricians, etc. Some of us with higher degrees in useless areas wish we'd done that instead.
This is how Statism works!
And this is what happens when you allow a government to give out an immeasurable number of grants, particularly 'science' (including the concrete 'social sciences') grants that create and further entrench the ESTABLISHMENT.
Seriously though, our Unis are paid for by the government, both through grants and student tuition. So this is shocking to anyone?
Well, this doesn't come as a suprise to me…I was the news editor of UMSL's school paper for a semester, and I had a similar experience… I had a teacher who consistently gave me lower marks in a Lit class because she didn't agree with me, or my politics. I only stayed at UMSL for a semester… it was a horrible school.
Scratch a reactionary leftist, find the fascist writhing underneath.
As a 1993 grad of the University Of Missouri St. Liberal, I can tell you this sort of thing has been happening for decades. I was constantly told I would have change my essays and answers to test questions if I wanted to receive a passing grade. I made complaints all the way to the top. No dice. This a typical urban left wing university in a typical left wing city. I now live in southwest , Mo. The difference is night and day my friends.
Tell your daughter to be brave, keep her chin high …
and record EVERY contact with professors, secretaries, admine
and keep EVERY email
get a copy of EVERY test and quiz and 'evaluation'
letters of recommendation
application for scholarships …
keep it all
Because the one thing needed is DOCUMENTATION of political persecution
We will soon be going through the same thing, but we have hope. Many of you on here will no doubt criticize us for our decision, but it's our choice to make.
First, we wont pay for our kids college. Not a single cent. If my kids want to go to college, they can figure out how to do it without our help. Second, in order to get any scholarship, both parents need to submit all of their financial information to the Feds, even if the scholarship is one that has nothing to do with "needs". I refuse to fill out that paperwork. If my kids were applying for needs-based scholarship, it might make sense. But they'd never qualify.
That's right; I can afford to send my kids to college. But I wont. I wont pay a single dime to any institution that indoctrinates kids. And I wont pay the absolutely outrageous exorbitant fees that private colleges charge.
Now, we just need everyone else to do the same, and reduce these insane asylums masquerading as educational institutions to the rubble they deserve to become.
And for anyone that says you can't get ahead without a degree, may I point out two things: neither of my kids parents have degrees (and we've done just fine, thank you), take a good look at the unemployment rate amongst college grads the past few years and ask yourself if you really want to inflict that upon your kids…
These UMSL people act like religious zealots blinded by their blind faith. It's downright creepy and a waste of human material.
Sunlight has a strange, but positive way of disinfecting.
"The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently." — Friedrich Nietzsche
such a terrible, evil story. everyone appreciates your courage, philip – great work!
I do believe that you will find that if Hillsdale College accepts a student who needs financial aid, the school will provide it. The wording "by not accepting students who need finandial aid" is, in the least, misleading.
I would suggest Philip contact FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) at http://thefire.org/. Their mission specifically is to defend and sustain individual rights at America's colleges and universities. They would bring clarity and justice to the University quickly.
When does Breit's Big Ed go live? It's time to devote a Big to the corrupt universities…Am reading "Faculty Lounges", a new book about the hopelessness of higher ed and the tenure system. Recommend it.
just remember the story is factual – with proof
funny now now one cares. originally i was lying, and crazy and in need of "tin foil". Now the facts come to light and NO ONE CARES ans then toss in an unfounded libelous personal attack as your response. Pathetic.
YOU PROVE YOUR OWN IGNORANCE.
THE STRAW MAN FAILS EVERY TIME.
I have read all of your other articles Philip and was impressed by your integrity and courage ( I say that because you are conservative and knew the thuggery you were walking into well gosh by what you were taught in class). I do appreciate you keeping us posted on what is happening in your case. You have many supporters young man. Thank you for suggesting what we can do as citizens- always helpful Are you filing any suits? keep us posted.
and most importantly – God Bless you!

You still are.
THE STRAW MAN IS ALL POWERFUL!!!!!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!
THE STRAW MAN SENDS HIS BLACK HELICOPTORS INTO YOUR BACK YARD!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAaAAAAA….
Made you look.
Just like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and the rest of the Nazis and Communists these "progressives" will use violence to silence opposition. Don't trust the local police they will follow orders to put you down whether it's right or wrong. I feel safer around the military because they are made up of citizens who are willing to die for freedom. Most police are just power hungry thugs looking for an opportunity to bust some heads.
Are we sure this young man is not a menace to society. He's blacked out more than Teddy Kennedy on a holiday weekend!
What is the matter with progressives and why are they so threatened by freedom? Academia, next target!
Just where do you think the smelly 60s hippies landed? The Military, law enforcement, heavy construction, firefighting, or maybe in the mining industry? No, the smelly hippies infested the school system, the bureaucracy, or "not for profit" fake corporations where they could amass the most power over competent people for the least effort. Why? Because the smelly hippies know the competent have resources as a result of their hard work and resolve; attributes the smelly hippie lacks. Upon completion of their indoctrination, they're placed in government" jobs" where they, aided by "activists", create problems that don't exist and give grants to their academic handlers to solve these nonexistent "issues". Of course it's the competent who bear the burden of this nonsense, and I cite "global warming" as an example. I say boil them in pachouli oil and let God sort out the rest.

St Louis seems to be a cesspool in an all-around way.
Great article. Academic freedom should be for students, not profs with radical agendas. Any administrators caught suppressing free thought of a student should be fired immediately. Would love to see a follow up article on the outcome of this situation.
Whatever happened to Sharp's camera and video tapes? Doesn't he have a right to his property?
Sorry to be so long to reply here Rick.
The rule broken here was 'Thou Shalt Not Question the Progressive <I know you spelled it right
> Agenda!!!'.
Ever.
Now, take your 'F' and your shattered reputation and get the Hell out of here. <said the University to the student>
