The American Era: Pausing…Dying…or Committing Suicide?
by Of Thee I Sing 1776Let us stipulate that it has been a long, slow process, this erosion of American exceptionalism and those uniquely American qualities that made this country and its citizens the envy of the world. Some say we are “crying over spilled milk” and that the proverbial train (in this case, the abandonment of the American dream) has already left the station. “It’s too late,” they tell us, to fret over America’s abandonment of individual liberty as its raison d’être in deference to European style-statism. Besides, we are reminded, the drift toward European statism has been a by-product of both political parties. Fair enough. But, perhaps, it is time to pause and really think about the course we are on. Let’s take a hard, close look at what we are doing…to ourselves.

It is very seductive to take comfort in the notion that we are the mightiest nation in the world and that, one way or another, we will remain that way. But we would be kidding ourselves. While we have had a clear field for nearly one hundred years, from this point on we will have to compete vigorously to maintain (or regain) our position of leadership. Yes, we have the lion’s share of the world’s greatest universities, and we have won approximately half of all the Nobel Prizes that have ever been awarded, and, yes, our economy has been the engine that has lifted more people out of poverty than any in the history of the world, and, yes, our economy (our total output of goods and services) is, substantially, the world’s largest. But we can’t proceed into a very uncertain future looking into a rear-view mirror. The road we are on portends a very rough ride.
We are living in a knowledge age. Brawn power, which may have been king during America’s great industrial era, has largely given way to brainpower as the most prized coin of the realm. Sadly, recent data show, rather conclusively, that the current generation of students is, for the first time in our history, less educated than were their parents or grandparents. Of all the industrialized nations of the world, only we are producing graduates who are, qualitatively, less well educated than were their parents and grandparents. Every day, more than 7,200 high-school students become dropouts. That equates to 1.3 million students who are failing to graduate each year. Where will they go and what will they do in the knowledge age in which they and we find ourselves.
Our education system isn’t failing for want of trying, nor is it failing for want of funding. We spend as much or more per student than any other industrialized country, but we rank 15th for reading literacy, 21st in scientific literacy and 25th in math. We alone, among our global industrialized trading partners, graduate from our universities a declining number of math, engineering and science students each year.
Who do we think we are kidding?
This is not the result of some mysterious plague that has descended upon us. This is a self-inflicted tragedy, largely (certainly not entirely) the result of the unionization of public education and the pandering of politicians to these immense special interests. Education unions have fought reform, voucher programs and merit pay for teachers for years and, as a result, we are producing an immense knowledge-deficient, skills-deficient, under-performing generation in America. Notwithstanding the ruminations of left-leaning economists such as Paul Krugman who insist that there is nothing structural about our unemployment rate in America, (New York Times, September 27th) the imbalance we are building between needed skills and available skills poses a huge dilemma for the country, a dilemma about which we are doing nothing. George Bush, who increased spending for education substantially, gained little traction, and President Obama who has, on occasion, addressed the issue eloquently has spent virtually all of his political capital on a healthcare program that the majority of the people do not embrace and stimulus programs that do not seem to have stimulated much of anything.
Curiously, with respect to the economy and the role of government, the Administration often seems out of touch not only with the pulse of the nation, but with the tide sweeping much of the developed and the developing world. As the statist nations of Europe and Asia struggle to pare spending, cut deficits and reduce debt the White House and the Democratic Congress have been increasing spending, and, thus, the deficit ($1.3 trillion last fiscal year) adding to the public debt ($1.9 trillion last fiscal year) and largely ignoring growing concern within their own party about increasing taxes on anyone in the midst of a severe economic malaise that no one in government or the Fed seems fully to grasp.
The economic and military rise of China in particular, but also the fast growing economies of India, South Korea, and Brazil have also presented America with unprecedented challenges. China is an export machine, assisted in part by the equivalent of a government subsidy in its undervalued yuan. The cash they have accumulated has financed a twenty-first century military capability, particularly its burgeoning navy. At some not too distant date China will have mooted our ability to defend our interests in the South China Sea, particularly to prevent a takeover of Taiwan. They have purchased control of the vast majority of the rare earth minerals necessary to produce high technology products. To make their challenge especially ironic, the American military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan are protecting Chinese mineral gathering in those mineral rich nations while we bleed our own economic resources trying to stabilize the government in Iraq, and stopping the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies from returning to power in Afghanistan. The fights we are waging in those two countries, which add to the massive debt the Administration continues to amass, is a gift that keeps on giving to the cash rich Chinese government. It is quite an unhappy picture.
Earlier this year we reported on an interview conducted with Lech Walesa the Polish union leader and former President of Poland who was the founder of Solidarity and who successfully faced down the old Soviet Union. He lectured (or, more accurately, lamented) the current course on which the United States was traveling. He was saddened, he said, that the United States was making the very mistaken moves that Poland had abandoned. And then, more recently, we heard Siv Jensen, the leader of Norway’s second largest political party, the Progress Party, bemoan America’s drift toward a larger, higher spending, intrusive government. Norwegians, of all people, lecturing America about the pitfalls of an over-reaching government. We watch Ireland, Italy Spain, Greece, Portugal, France and Great Britain, among others, seriously addressing government spending and government sprawl while our elected officials blithely march to the very drummer those nations know they can no longer follow.
It is hard to divine the thinking of those who sit in Washington and formulate policies by which all America must live. Did the Democratic Congress really believe the president when he declared that he would not sign a health care bill that added one dime to the deficit? Does anyone really believe that? Does anyone in Washington really believe that the initial 4,000 pages of regulation necessitated by the new health care law will not result in enormous cost to business, especially small business, all of which will, of course, be passed on to the consumer? Are we to believe that Congress, when it passed the AMT in 1969 didn’t intentionally write that non-indexed-for-inflation bill primarily to squeeze more taxes from millions of tax-paying families under the guise of catching 155 super-wealthy individuals who were paying no taxes at all?
We find ourselves with a government now spending trillions more than it takes in, plunging the nation into debt now equivalent to nearly $45,000 for every citizen. We have a Congress so utterly paralyzed by partisanship and election-year selfishness that it adjourns without addressing a looming and divisive tax issue that has burdened the private sector with great uncertainty at the very time the economy needs clarity, and we are graduating a work force with horrifyingly decreasing skills in virtually all areas essential to competing in a global, knowledge-based economy.
We seem committed to redistributive policies that presume to improve the quality of life for the greatest number of our citizens by transferring wealth rather than by pursuing policies that truly stimulate economic growth. An Executive Branch governs us, along with a Congress, that doesn’t grasp the reality that excessive transferring of wealth within the economy doesn’t add to the wealth of the economy, but rather transfers it away from the most productive Americans. Government transfer payments constitute, in almost all respects, a zero-sum game. Ironically, much of Europe, which we seem to be emulating, finally seems to understand that. Sadly, we don’t
It is hard to say precisely where the American Era stands today. Irrespective of the current economic cycle, America is on the move, sadly, it appears, in the wrong direction. Then again, that’s why we have elections.

At this point the government is murdering the US.
The criminals are killing America in cold blood.
The true patriots have been silent too long…we have sat back and told ourselves that 'everything will work itself out'…we were wrong! Our forefathers had to FIGHT for our freedom, and we thought that we wouldn't have to fight like that again?? Someone is ALWAYS going to 'try' to take everything we have! We cannot sit back and let the government run itself ever again! WE THE PEOPLE are in charge!
Saturday's 'rally' in D.C. was the most eye-opening thing to happen in this country in a long time…the democratic party has been taken over by socialists and communists, left over acid dropping, losers from the 60's are now in charge of our government! This has to STOP NOW!!!
Unless we change things…….
…congressional assisted suicide.
The 30 percent of the country that is still hopped up on Hopium, will never know what hit them.
Suicide, sadly… BUT we're about to try a last-ditch intervention here… 28 days now
Americans are undergoing another case of the mass amnesia for which they're justifiably famous. I suppose "amnesia" it too kind a term. So distracted are they by their technological toys and reality TV shows, they can't be bothered to pay attention to the things that matter. That aloof and unknowable segment of the American electorate that describe themselves as "moderate" are telling pollster after amused pollster that they are unhappy with the way the Democrats have responded to the economic catastrophe that was visited upon this country two years ago. Their solution? Putting the people who are responsible for that catastrophe back in power. I'm not making this up.
Then there is the core of the Democratic vote, the so-called "base". Like the half-witted six-year-old who didn't receive the toy he wanted for Christmas, they're in the process of having a blue-faced tantrum. Because they didn't get all of that nice hope and change stuff that Barack Obama promised them two years ago, they're just going to stay home and sulk on Election Day.
Now, let's all just take a deep breath, shall we?
I am in a unique position. I now make my name by writing about the train-wreck that American politics has become in the last thirty years. As a consequence, the lower my country sinks into the depths of societal dysfunction, the higher my stock rises. If you are a frustrated Democratic voter whose plan is to neglect your civic responsibilities on Tuesday, November 2, I have but one message for you: Don't do it for me.

The progressives are locked in a national suicide pact, in fact the Danny Glovers, Hugo Chavez', Sean Penns and Ban Ki Moons of the world want to commit "Humane Genocide" for the good of the "planet"…
Seriously folks all of the above people have advocated for 'eliminating' one third to one half of the world's population 'humanely' aka like dogs but the MSM says we're the crazy ones…?
Yes the proggies are in fact engaged in a massive Jones Town styled suicide pact and they'll stop at nothing to achieve their twisted ends.
We need to get back to our founding principles; life, liberty, property and limited national government. The Constitution is timeless because it is a limit on human nature. Our industry and technology doesn't make the Constitution obsolete, it only speeds up the government’s ability to grow and take away our liberty.
Rolling the current situation back will take a concerted effort over at least two generations. The first step is throwing the ruling class out of Washington DC.
Nov. 2 will only be the first battle. It is NOT the final nail, that so many believe. It will empower progressives to push harder and lie more. The battle may still be lost. Progressives are entrenched in both parties and they lie oh so well. The Tea Party hurts them, but doesn't take them out of the fight.
Sadly, I see a day where my American flag is displayed in a dark room in my basement only. They will not rest until this country is no more. They do not have our best interests at heart. They seek our destruction.
Lets give them the fight they are expecting. Lets show them that ANY enemy of freedom will always lose. Lets show them what real Americans are made of.
Let's roll. . . . . . .
America is not ready to give up just yet. The vast silent majority that does the bulk of the producing, the job creating and the taxpaying, and who has spent the 20 years working, and with their kids and families, has just had a dose of what happens when you are silent and take America for granted. With what we've seen. heard, and experienced since Nov 08, and to some extent since Pelosi became Speaker in Nov 06, is enough to ensure that the next two generations of Americans will be on guard and very protective of American values, principles, and traditions. This has been a wake up call, a call to action, and I suspect it will continue to grow in momentum even after November.
It is too hard being exceptional.
Too many people just don't want to be distracted from the TV and their hedonistic pleasures to WORK.
It is just too hard for them to be exceptional, so they want to lower the standards until they qualify as "Elite".
Just like grading on a curve, they wish to live on a curve….
We have allowed people who worship weakness and irresponsibility as a virtue to bully us into ridiculous government plans and programs. Government has, for many, many years favored the least productive in society, growing their ranks.
People who protest these practices are portrayed as selfish and mean. As long as we allow ourselves to be bullied by ideologues things will continue to go downhill. The irony is that in the end , the "losers" in society will end up devolving themselves into nonexistence. But it will be to late for the US.
Guilty, half-white obama is committing our suicide.
He is trying to spread our wealth more evenly across the world….. even though we Americans are the most charitable country on the planet – EVER!
If you keep writing like that you will find yourself in another unique position. The unemployment line !
Naw, just taking a little Kenyan vacation.
We’re not gonna take it . . . Twisted Sister . . .
October 3, 2010
Dear President Obama AKA (He who thinks he is King of the pond):
It ought to be apparent to even you by this point that your dictatorial decisions have absolutely pissed off the 2/3’s of this country, that make it work, day in, and day out. The shock coming to you on November 3, 2010 will be so great in fact I believe that the artifice that you put up with the help of a pair of teleprompters, and a left wing media, that straps on knee pads and lip gloss before they ask you questions, will be so complete that breathing may be difficult. It goes without saying that in the past, these elections, in the grand scheme of things were meaningless, as soon as the public was satiated, and bent over the desk, the politicians got right back to screwing us.
This time it’s different. We are going to roll back much of what you liberals have accomplished with such force, and speed you are not going to know what hit you. We do not care anymore about you, and your squawking. If you want to live in a rat hole, and have a government that would rather you were aborted, feed you, fine; all the while being led by a Senator who drowned people in his car, and being lectured to by anchors that performed hit and runs, with or without their socks on, and then get gigs on CNN, that’s fine too. Not us. We are not going to take it anymore, we’ve had it. You can only kick a dog so much before he turns around and bites you, and on November 2, 2010 we are going to bite, and hang on until you politicians listen to us, and do what we want done.
We will remember how you treated us while we strove to compromise with you. We will remember how you divided, and continue to divide this nation, from it’s historical allies and, races, religions and economic classes. We will not work for bipartisanship with people who want to destroy the very foundations that our fractured society rests upon. No Sir! We will work to radically simplify everything from the tax code, which wastes so much precious time and wealth, that ought to be used for growth and production. We will work to cut wasteful bureaucracies, and regulations, that only serve to benefit those faceless people who work without accountability, and are overcompensated for what they do. We will force a decision on fighting for one side of the same Muslim/Arab coin against the other. Is this a fight we need to win the old fashioned way – bomb the crap out of them. Or get the hell out. We will keep our promises to those that depend on entitlement programs, and then reduce it’s burden on future generations by no longer socializing failures to save, and invest for their own futures. We will support space exploration, and end the madness that is NASA’s current chief Bolden’s suicide mission for Muslim outreach. Why you numb nuts fired Griffin is incomprehensible to me, the man would have led us to the moon and back by now, and left a base on it for the next generation of American explorers to build upon!
We can do all of this. We just need 2/3 of both houses of Congress, and a Conservative President. Don’t tell me we can’t do that. Don’t tell me that Christine O’donnell, Sharron Angle, Carly Fiorrina, Allen West, Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, and all the rest on our side, are some how unable to win against a socialist pinko commie wrapped in a label that says “Democrat.”
Bullshit.
We can, and we will lead the charge to begin to balance this nations books, provide economic opportunity, and fill it with those willing to create, and work to fill those jobs, and properly defend this nation, whether it is in Texas from Narco-Drug dealers, or the Jihad Johnny’s of the world, or the Communist Chinese who want a piece of the world without paying for it. Who ever tells you we can’t doesn’t understand the core of what it is to be of being an American, “Where right, we’re free, we’ll fight, yea you’ll see, we’re not gonna take it anymore!
Respectfully,
Joe Doakes
Only two things bring down a tyrannical government.
Hint: It's not voters or an election
Neither party delivers liberty. To call a Democrat "liberal" is a joke, to call a Republican conservative is equally a misnomer.
American exceptionalism- that is a pretend thing – America was fresh snow once – time has past – that is all. Snow man melted.
The government of the United States has always been there to help it's citizens build this country. Republicans live in some false – glowing – cowboy movie inspired – romantic notion of the past as if it were made up of only rough hewn individualists who pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps and the government only came later and took it away. The government was always there – for the "Indian problem" to drive the Mexicans out of the southwest, to purchase Louisiana, to build the rail roads, the highways, to protect the property rights, to provide law and order, to subsidize the great industrialists, to open up foreign markets by force (Japan) – on and on and on – You are reactionaries who think the best days are behind you. America is only a crappy place to live because of your anal retentiveness. Evolve already. Every new day does not need to mirror the one before it.
You think evolution and global warming are myths? American exceptionalism is the myth.
We have really good public schools in our area, you want to know why? Because the parents get involved in everything,we keep an eye on whats being taught and get behind our teachers and students,we are very fortunate and I'm sure there are many public school districts that are excellent,we can't say the school system is failing everywhere,I lay the overall problem of the failing districts at the feet of those parents who live there, you don't have time for your children? Then you get what you deserve when they get older. The strength of a nation starts in the home.
" America is on the move, sadly, it appears, in the wrong direction. Then again, that’s why we have elections."
…Yes, Keep the Faith!…..November 2010 & 2012…..AMERICA STRONG, BRAVE and BEAUTIFUL AGAIN !
Tom, you use "I" and "me" as much as Obama. The last thing we need is another narcissist.
You are right, America is slowly comitting sucide in all ways. We the people have failed this country, we the people have allowed liberals to rule us. We have sat onn our butts and failed to be an active part of society and the political process. I have been as guilty as most of you, but not any longer will I sit in the side and watch this country go down. I HAVE DETERMINED TO BE AN ACTIVE PART OF THE PROCESS, AND WILL DO ALL IN MY POWER TO STOP THE TAKE OVER AND RUIN OF THIS COUNTRY. I WILL VOTE AND LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THOSE RUNING FOR OFFICE AND IN OFFICE. I BELEIVE WE AS A NATION CAN REGAIN OUR PLACE IN THE WORLD.
When are you people who post comments on these websites going to wake up to the fact that as long as you have democrats, republicans and a MSM installing illegal presidents under your noses and you don't say anything about it….AMERICA IS DEAD AND IT'S YOUR FAULT! America was given life by courageous Patriots and that life has been taken away by cowardly volunteer serfs and slaves who think another election will fix this mess! YOU HAVE AN ILLEGAL PRESIDENT ON YOUR HANDS AND YOU OUGHT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OTHER THAN KEEPING YOUR LIPS ZIPPED!
Obama Needs A Break
October 4, 2010 by Bob Livingston
At a fundraiser last week at the home of former ABC and CBS News reporter and Obama staffer Linda Douglass, President Barack Obama reportedly told those in attendance he could use a break.
Douglass’ husband is John Phillips, a wealthy lawyer, and the couple hosted Obama and the $30,400 a person fundraiser to raise money for Democrat candidates. Phillips also worked on Obama’s campaign and, when he introduced Obama, he said, “I can remember walking down those snowy streets of Des Moines in the primary… We sleep much better knowing that you are our president at this difficult time,” according to washingtonexaminer.com.
Obama then thanked Phillips and Douglass for their work and acknowledged the two own a nice home in Italy. Obama then reportedly said, “I’d appreciate a little break and some Tuscan sun. Some pasta. I could use it.”
Let me get this straight: Obama has been President about 20 months and has spent all or part of 38 days (according to ABC News) on “vacation.” When he’s not on vacation he’s carted around in fancy cars or an opulent airliner, never opening his own doors, carrying his own bags or preparing his own meals. It seems he plays golf almost every day. But more than a month of vacation with less than two years on the job is not enough?
Let me just say, President Obama, if the work’s too tough for you can quit any time. Remember, you asked for the job. No one forced it on you and, judging by the latest polls, most people would just as soon see you quit.
But take heart: If you want to stick it out, you’re almost halfway through. Your term ends on January 20, 2013. Don’t let the door slap your butt on the way out.
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Benjamin Franklin
The fact is that since our post WWII peak, we've slowly become a frivolous and unserious nation. Nowhere is this more manifest than in what we've allowed our educational system to become and the caliber of people we continually elect to public office.
The electronic social media is what is dumbing down America, especially our kids– 6-hrs per day, that our kids spend on electronic gadgets, like email, twitter, video games, TV, cell phones, I products and the web.
the nihilism of the modern age might lead one to conclude that all is doomed, that the future of Our Beloved Republic will be dark and slavish.
however, nihilism is defined by its limitations. the future is never certain nor is it known.
we'd do best to shrug off the prospect of wholesale defeat and do what we Americans have always done well: keep plugging, keep trying, keep moving forward.
"It is hard to say precisely where the American Era stands today."
The authors are smart enough to know exactly where America stands today.
There is no unwritten law in the book of life that states America will be, or would be number one forever.
The cold hard facts of the matter are, that America will go the way of Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Great Britain.
Come on folks, this is the plan, and has been since the ‘60s. It was determined by ’60s radicals that the USA, is a greedy, warmongering, arrogant nation and had to be pared back. Call it Cloward – Piven, whatever, these statist bastards want to bring this great land to heel. It’s only fair.
Obama's dad was a British subject, even if Obama was born in the US he is still a dual citizen and under the Constitution he legally can't be president,it really doesn't mean squat today because the Constitution is just a piece of paper.
I wish I could disagree with you………
Only if we let them … And frankly that crowd 10-2 at the Lincoln memorial didn't look like they can get it done.
We the people …
Outcome-based excellence, CE. "Deeming" of excellence.
Damn but you have the ability to smack the nail right on the head!
We were duped by Obama. We were trusting and complacent at that moment in time. Then we saw the Policy of ObamaCare being made, and it woke up a trusting America! Thank God, because the insisidious socialists came to light for US to focus on!
Now we have to push back with all of the patriotism we have! and we must squash socialism, marxism and communism. I think a good thing to do is help our newest youngest voters on College Campuses across America.
Our Conservative students are being attacked by aggressive obama socialist type students and they need support. The best tool for that job is a copy of "The Pledge to America" It contains an outline of concepts that our students can use to fight back. At the same time reinforcing their mental resolve to install fiscal conservatism etc. into Government!
I acknowledge that we here want earmarks and other legislation etc. but I'm talking about the BEST USE of this GOP booklet RIGHT NOW for conservative college students under attack!
Getting that "Pledge" into our College students hands should be the job of every Tea Party in every town across America. Mr. Boehner, we need copies of The Pledge sent out to support out youngest Voters!
It's actually been in motion for much longer than the 60's, but I do agree that the 60's were a seminal moment for the radical left. It shifted the movement into a higher gear. I fear we are now in overdrive.
I wish you could too.
I wish I could disagree with myself as well.
Say Deuse, what did you think of the entitlement rally Saturday?
Helluva crowd, eh?
Such gloom, the America we love is not lost or gone, but it is under attack from within. It has been happening in slow increments , kinda like a pack of coyotes sneaking up in our backyards a few inches at a time, and now they has become bold and they don't care if you see them or not. We are going to be alright, we are awake now and we see what is in our backyards. My simple comfort was seeing the side by side pics of the conservative rallies on dc -vs- the democratic socialist rally on dc. http://t.co/91fd5KJ ____We all have to bring so called "impolite" politics up every chance we get and talk to our families, extended families, friends, etc. and keep each other awake, thinking, talking, voting and yes even praying. The conversations are good, brings reason, reality, and is helps stop the [myth of the false freedom and goodwill] that progressivism, aka: Democratic-Socialist politicians and media want the public to believe they are all about.
Now is the time for people to vote [no apathy] and remind others to vote, even if the conservative choice isn't your perfect dream candidate, just hold your nose and vote so we can get a foot hold! Don't stay at home, there is going to be much voter fraud [as we have seen before] and America needs the conservative votes to counter this corruption beyond 2012 we can't afford to fall back asleep. Well be ok!
I'm really glad I'm closing on a home refinance loan tomorrow! I believe that high-inflation is just around the corner, and I will feel somewhat economically stable enough to ride it out (with a nice chunk of change received as a cash-out). I now need to consider how to protect the money I'll have in the bank. Someone said there are inflation indexed bonds out there, but if they are Federal bonds, they would seem to be very risky if things get really bad. Anyone know what is best for high inflation times?
Regarding public education:
We had the best public education system in the world until the mid 1960's. What happened then. Integration. I'm sorry, but I lived through that. Yes, the black schools had horrible teachers who produced less-educated students. But integration resulted in not only the less-educated students being mixed with the better-educated students, it resulted in less-qualified teachers being mixed with the better teachers. I had a black teacher in 8th grade that I literally could not understand! I'm no racist, I'm a realist. Rather than solving the problem of what was wrong with the black side of the public education system, the powers at hand decided that "the solution to pollution was dilution", so to speak. Now we are almost 50 years past that point in the nation's educational history, so race differences related to schools and teachers can't be used as an excuse, other than cultural differences between various races.
Let's be honest, there is a reason the big city public schools fail for the most part; it's the attitude of the students, and the failure to discipline those who louse it up for those who want to learn. I believe the top 10% of American public education students rival the top 10% of any other country. Unfortunately, the PC crowd believes that "all students can excel". That is not true, and attempts to meet that false premise is resulting in the dumbing down of the entire system. It's time we let the losers, regardless of race, fail!
Isn't this amazing! The people who make complaints about Obama, his illegal administration and democrats on these websites will not complain about him not being qualified to be president at all! These people like to talk as if they have some sense of intelligence and awareness about the corrupt politics of today here in America but when it comes to Article 2 Section 1 for which Obama does not qualify….they have left the scene of the crime! It's pathetic, I don't know what is wrong with these people! America is their country too, but they act like they have forfeited their homeland and surrendered it to the treasonous corrupt politicians who have installed an illegal president instead of keeping their sworn oaths to protect the U.S. Constitution! Whatever negativity that they experience as a result of their silence they deserve to get! And you cannot say anything that will motivate these people to take action! They will fight with you before they will say anything about Obama being the ILLEGAL PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA! Thank You! At least there is someone else on these websites who knows America has a very serious problem that needs to be addressed and not ignored as it is now!
I don't give up hope. For a number of reasons I had to put my children in public schools- not one being that I couldn't afford it, because I would have done everything to keep them in private school. Long story. But I saw something that allowed my confidence to (can't say be restored, never had it in the first place…) Check this story out. Still some caring educators that can bend the losing curriculem that they need to work under their way… Check it out..
http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/268469-eliot-e...
Amen bro.
Depressing article that only puts into writing what I've known in my heart for quite some time. Makes me worry for the future of my children.
This is why I think the damage is irreparable. failed education that is more about propaganda than anything else. Racist blacks voting against their self interest as their situation continues to deteriorate. The push to allow Mexicans influence elections, and a gov't too big to pare.
Game over. Find land in a foreign nation more hospitable to conservative values.
I don't agree with the pessimistic attitude. Take action! Get "The Pledge to America" on to College Campuses for our conservative students to have some ammo to fight back the Obama zombies that attack them!
Winston Churchill: 'Never never never never give up!'
It took a POS like the poser to get people pissed off enough to see how they have been watching their freedoms get taken piece by piece an doing nothing about it.
Cry me an F-ing river…
It's taken less than 50 years to put us on the brink and half the country is still smoking stupid weed.
Love the way condescending leftist think they can direct others to take a deep breath.
Here's a clue, Tom: it didn't happen just in the last 30 years–but your public school teacher never taught you–
Another travesty was the governor's debate in California on Saturday broadcast only in Spanish. Think about that one for a moment, folks. Only in Spanish. Where are we headed?
Citizenship aside, he isn't qualified for anything other than being what he has demonstrated over the last 22 months – a small community agitator, a divider, a divisive, indecisive, narcissistic toddler in chief with a dirty diaper..
It is amazing, isn't it? Slap a feel-good slogan on crimes against humanity and you can sell them anything.
Government redistributive policies are not a zero sum game. They are a negative sum game because they take wealth from the productive who would otherwise create profit, and give it to the unproductive who just consume. In addition, since you need larger government to force this process, you need more money from the productive to support yet more unproductive members of our society.
That this isn't self-evident just boggles the mind.
Remember this guy?
"I once said, 'We will bury you,' and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you." – Nikita Khrushchev. Are the unions, both public and private not doing this very thing?
He also said: "The press is our chief ideological weapon"; and "We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism." Guess what the LSM and our government has been feeding us for years?
Oh yeah, since that pig Marx wrote his manifesto, shoot ahead fifty years to T. Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and his implementation of the 16 & 17th Amendment, FDR’s New Deal, JFK’s Executive Order #10988, LBJ’ s Great Society, Nixon’s EPA unleashing the fed, now Barry Universal Healthcare (Deathcare), Financial reform (Fannie-Freddie) , Stimulus (union enhancement act) the list is long.
So many kids today do not have any memory of even recent history, therefore we are doomed to repeat.
No….. idiots like you are what is wrong with this country. American exceptionalism and people who believe in themselves and this country are exactly what we need more of. Allowing morons who label us all as racists to gain control over our public institutions is part of what ruined us in the first place.
Global warming is a scam of epic proportions, I figured that was common knowledge by now, seeing how Al Gore and Osama Bin Laden are in complete agreement over it.
My thoughts exactly. Well said. Seems like we need to do more than just "get out the vote". All this "Come on Nov 2nd!" talk makes me sick. As if we're all powerless, and all we can do is cast votes at the appointed times.
This has got to be one of the most saddest and lowest points in American history! OBAMA IS NOTHING BUT A CHICAGO THUG AND CON ARTIST IN PAMPERS WHO HAS TEMPER TANTRUMS WHEN THINGS DON'T GO HIS WAY…..BLAME THE REPUBLICANS! And either elections are rigged in America and have been for sometime (a possibility) or America has the most stupidest voters on the surface of the planet and will vote for the prettyist candidates, principles and beliefs be damned! This is a guy telling America to it's face….I don't have to tell you my origins and I won't, and the American people for the most part buy it! People need to understand that if the people behind putting an illegal president into the White House are capable of that….what else can they do? Oh yea! That's right…..DESTROY AMERICA AND THE CONSTITUTION SO IT CAN BE REPLACED WITH A EUROPEAN TYPE OF GOVERNMENT WHICH WILL MAKE THEM ALL THE MORE POWERFUL AND WEALTHIER!
There's also no unwriten law to the effect that America can't remain Number One for the foreseeable future. It will take more effort than we're currently putting forth, a return to what Herman Kahn liked to call the "bourgeois virtues," and the willingness to make amends for some very serious mistakes, especially in the political sphere.
Hard, yes. Impossible, no.
I knew I smelled a troll.
If we can restore the basics of our Original Christian Republic, we have a chance.
Britain losts its blessings because of back-sliding (Son of Jacob: Ephraim)
America is on the same course: (Son of Jacob: Manaseh)
The destinies of these 2 brother nations were that One would beccome a Great Company of Nations (Commonwealth) and the other would become a Great Nation.
These 2 nations would be outside of the 4 merntioned, gentile World Power Nations, which come and go, as their days are "numbered" or scheduled, let's say…(Book of Daniel)
We ask God to Bless America, ok. He already has. His Part of this Contract or Promise is done and only can be maintained by us choosing HIm and His Word.
Sorry to bible thump oin a political site; but most Christians don't realize that He created the Original Nations and He created Israel.. He started with 70 nations…and gave them all boundaries and territories as a result of the attempt of Humanity to have a One World Govt system, w/o Him….(*Tower of Babel incident)
Blame it on ourselves, our liberal, progressive educational system, and our unesteemed congress. We have been extremely lax over the last fifty years.
"…..DESTROY AMERICA AND THE CONSTITUTION SO IT CAN BE REPLACED WITH A EUROPEAN TYPE OF GOVERNMENT WHICH WILL MAKE THEM ALL THE MORE POWERFUL AND WEALTHIER."
That is his plan. He believes in the manufactured words of social equality(all are equally dumb)social justice(one group is better than another), social reparations(redistribution of wealth), and social democracy(oxymoron). It's just marxism revealed.
In 1963 the mention of God or Prayers said by teachers or students was outlawed. The last "Nail in the Coffin" done by the Progressives.
Nonsense, Tom. This train-wreck began in the 1930's with the election of another "progressive" administration under the dubious leadership of FDR. At about the same time, some over-educated moron thought it would be a good idea for schools to take over responsibility for raising our children FOR parents instead of working WITH parents to properly socialize our children–that is, turn them into productive, responsible citizens, not socialists.
Right you are, Joe. If you stop and think about it, we haven't had a conservative President AND a conservative Congress in over 100 years! It's about time we tried being governed by a Constitutionalist government for a change.
We will. It is only a matter of time now . . .
If you want the losers to fail then let the schools fail and be replaced by market driven education. The evidence is overwhelming that it is the schools and not the children that are responsible for the decrepit education system.
Go to the Manhattan Institute website and look at the work done by Carolyn Hoxby on charter schools. Check out the Cato Institute and Reason magazine. Putting the blame on parents and children is teacher's union propaganda.
We are running out of time. The elitists and traitors and doing exactly what they want, undermining America. Sending dummies to schools want solve anything. They are created to be demos. The children are being taught foreign ways and to hate America. Brainwashed like Arab children to hate America. Nomohamed was not a. prophet, he was a dictator. Nomobama is acting like one, ignoring the parts of the Constitution he doesn't like. DoJ also ignores the Constitution.
The powers in high places would lie, cheat, steal or even murder to prevent any truth from coming out. They care more about keeping order than letting the truth be told and having Obama's brownshirts riot and loot.
Want to get a feel for what's about to happen, read a book called A Distant Crossing. Fiction written 15 years ago calls todays events. It was riveting.
Ha,ha, I'm trying to get a handle on your posting because it's all over the friggin place. American exceptionalism isn't the myth, alternatives to American exceptionalism are the myths. What, socialist utopia is better, like there's anyplace on earth where the socialist utopia exists. Government builds roads and provides law and order,no shit Shakespeare, last time I checked that's what government is supposed to do . As for how they handled the "indian problem", ahhhhhh they actually sucked on that one. I don't know what your vision of "evolving" is, but mine isn't running up debt that nobody is ever going to be able to pay or conditioning more and more people to be willing to sit on their asses and expect handouts from their best buddies in government !!!
But Obama is not alone in this! I always ask "where are the republicans?" Well I think you know the answer to that…they're just standing by waiting for their orders from their superiors who ever they or that is! The population of the U.S. is supposed to be about 300 million people. Of that 300 million there are supposed to be about 100 million registered voters! With the exception of a few of us, for the most part I would say about 99.90 million of those voters have already submitted to Obama's Allah! In other words you have over 99 million voters who accept Obama has a legal president and have converted to islam it seems in my opinion! AMERICA HAS DIED AT THE HANDS OF A GENERAL POPULATION OF IGNORANT VOTERS WHO APPARENTLY HAS NEVER READ THE U.S. CONSTITUTION!
The "get out and vote" thing is so stupid! If a person isn't aware that an election is coming up I don't want them to vote! Let elections occur naturally and be by those who care enough to pay attention to whats happening in politics! Everyone is taught in school about elections!
Are we going to be submissive slaves to those powers that be or are we going to be Patriots and tell those powers that be to go to hell? I say it's time to tell them to go to hell!
President Washington taught us all we will ever need to know about the federal gov't in his farewell address of 1796. to beware and careful of 1) political parties 2) foreign alliances 3) federal debt 4) strange taxes….among other things. He was the father of our nation, time to bring out the old document, dust it off and re-learn lessons that that have been discarded by this current generation. Better to be poor and homeless, than to loose our freedom, our country-and possibly our lives at the hands of an all powerful gov't and their political party.
"The American Era: Pausing…Dying…or Committing Suicide?"
Being strangled to death.
the title of the article is indicative of what is *aiding* the strangle. Inability of rightist commentators to see the obvious. Three options there. None remotely indicative of what is really taking place. Until we collectively come to terms with the fact that america is being deliberately destroyed (and has been for at least 7 decades, slowly, but surely), we don't have a prayer in saving it.
"We The People" are going to close this hatch . . . in less than 30 days.
To the Editor:
Submarines have always fascinated me. Their role in the last century cannot be overstated. From the simple man powered submarines of the civil war to the USS Nautilus’s journey under the North Pole to the modern submarines that form a critical part of the US nuclear deterrent. As over engineered as these ships are, when a torpedo hits, decisions have to be made to save the ship. Sometimes those decisions have to be made under extreme stress, and the result of the orders leads to the death of fellow crew mates. As one space fills with water, pulling the ship inexorably to the bottom, a sailor in the dry space must close the hatch to save the ship.
The United States is analogous to a submarine wounded by enemy action. Instead of an enemy firing a torpedo, we, via all of our poor political leadership have fired one upon ourselves. The political classes collective record, how ever well intentioned, has lead us here, through massive spending, borrowing, and making promises to citizens that cannot be met. Character at a point of pressure is the most important asset a leader, officer, or soldier possesses. Why? Because sometimes it is necessary to close the hatch to save the ship. The question to my mind is which party possesses the capacity to do that now.
While the collusion of both parties are to blame for our sinking ship. It is the Republican party that is desperately trying to close the hatch and save the ship. The Republican party is standing against three pieces of legislation that will forever resign this nation to a continual decline and eventual ruin. The first is commonly understood to be “health care,” this legislation will forever alter a citizens relationship to their government. If it passes medical attention will become a right that must be met by force of law. As the saying goes, if you want to make something expensive, make it free. The failure of this solution to meeting the medical needs of people is deeply felt by those who lost loved ones because the English or the Canadian governments denied vital care. Liberal Democrats have another scheme to launch on the American people this one is called “Cap and Trade” – essentially this nightmare would allow the federal government to tax a citizen when they drive, breath, or turn on the light switch. Kirsten Gillibrand has personally advocated for it in the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, I assume Senator Gillibrand expects that by creating the next Wall Street scam will lead to voluminous campaign contributions on the back of the American taxpayer. Finally, there is “Card Check,” this gem would eliminate the secret ballot from the process by which a business goes from being a non-union to a union shop. Thus, the Union leadership would be in a position to put massive pressure on those who voted “no.” Republicans have stood, and are standing against all of this – in fact on the “Cap and Trade” front Republicans have earned bipartisan opposition to it.
All the while the water is rushing into our ship, and the choice must be made in six months; will the citizens of this great nation choose to stand with the leadership of the liberal democratic party, that is trying to keep the hatch open, so we all go down, or will the American people choose to stand with the Republican party, that is trying to close the hatch? I have confidence that the American people are ready to not only support the Republican party, but help close the hatch and save the ship. America is ready to sacrifice all but our liberty and our economic freedom – this has, and will always be true, and has happened in the past, it is “We The People” leading the charge. Right now the only organized political party that has the capacity to close the hatch is the Republican party.
Indeed. Obama is ineligible for the same reason that a naturalized US citizen is ineligible — both were born subject to a foreign power.
The American people are waking up, and when they do, they will demand that the Constitution be upheld.
The Republicans nominated their own ineligible candidate (McCain), and now they have equally ineligible rising stars in their ranks who they could nominate in the future. Governor Jindal, born in Louisiana to parents who were citizens of India, is not a natural born citizen. Senate candidate Marco Rubio, born in Florida to Cuban exile parents, may also be ineligible if his parents were not yet citizens at the time of his birth. Does anyone know if Rubio's parents became citizens before Rubio was born?
EXACTLY KS!
Exactly correct.
Deeming my sweet bippy… Stoopidest thing I ever heard of… I deem it ot be idiotic!
Good morning, CE.
"they wish to live on a curve"
Works for me. I live on a 65-mph "street." and I seldom go 65. ;o)
"If the next centennial does not find us a great nation … it will be because those who represent the enterprise,
the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces." James Garfield.
The only possible hope for us is to fire ALL sitting pols, D or R – doesn't matter, and replace them with strict constructionist conservatives. If we, you and I, reelect the same whores who have infested our capital for years, then this article is prophetic – We truly are doing this to ourselves.
Well I don't know exactly when his parents became citizens but they exiled Cuba in 1959. His father was 44 and his mother was 40 when Marco was born in 1971.
Seems to me that they would have become citizens before 1971. They certainly would have had enough time to have gone through the naturalization process.
But there is no hiding of the fact that Obama's father was not a US citizen, and that fact alone makes Obama not a natural born citizen.
Right. And now they aren't trying to slide it in, they are pounding it in.
