Jobs we can believe in.
It is NOT the president's job to create jobs!! What part of that does he NOT understand??? Leave the private sector alone and let them do their job!
He is not going to do that, though, he would rather raise taxes on businesses that could be hiring, but, instead are moving out of the U.S. to places that don't tax as high! The only way to fix this is to get rid of Unions!!
If High Speed trains had a user need in America the private company's would have built them allready.. The only need for these trains it to get more union members that will operate them ( at a lose ) forever.. I didn't see the china link so thanks for the link…
As a carpenter I doubt I would ever build a Obama house, my main stay was historic restoration but I could see doing A LOT of repair work on a Obama house !!!

Agree with you most of the time, but we need to get rid of O'Bummer first, and then the unions. They are all anti American.

Agreed, I may have had it backwards, but I still feel the same…the unions are NOT what they used to be …they are NOT for the workers anymore, they are only for the money that the union bosses can line their pockets with!
It makes as much sense as the $3 million they gave Florida, (where I live!) to build a tunnel under the highway for TURTLES!!! I am still pissed about that! I have to watch every dollar I spend at the grocery store, yet, instead of giving the tax payers of Florida a break and giving the money to us, they spend it on TURTLES??!!! Who will have the money to ride this high speed rail, when people have no jobs??!!

I have no idea, most of the trains run empty now and I doubt high speed will get very many more riders..

The only way people in Tampa, Orlando and Miami will ever use this system is if gas prices skyrocket back to 5 bucks a gallon and even then it is highly suspect.
I have lived in Florida going on 40 years and can say without a doubt that this railway system is a prime example of the massive waste of Federal tax dollars, a temporary jobs solution(that may or may not benefit American workers) and then it will become a massive drain on resources on a year to year basis just so we can point and say, see, we have a neat train too.
I have no doubt there are places in the US where HighSpeed trains would prove worthwhile. Tampa to Mousetown is not one of them. We have tourists yes, but not enough to support that type of system. Nobody lives in Tampa works in Mousetown or vice versa. Tampa to Stpete yes. Floridians will pay through the proverbial for this misscarriage. Down with Odumblo and his daddy knows best attitude.

High speed rail has been talked about for at least 30 years if it was feasible it would be running now
privately.
Only the best "Green" material is used, their called tree's lol.. In fact I use some really nice wood in my restoration work like walnut,cherry, white/red oak, chestnut ( although its all reclaimed ), maple, poplar and douglas fir and the list goes on, it should make a tree huggers head explode !!!
Light Rail
There is more to this then meets the eye.
It is part of 'the plan', to change the way we, as a country, operate. We are too mobile and independent to put 'in a box' and control. Dang us!
I have read about this elsewhere, I saved the article. Alas, my computer crashed and I lost it. When I have a few hours I will look for it.
**In the mean time. How many jobs will this produce? How long will the jobs last? Is the intent to only use US products and man power, or are the Japanese going to come in and do the job? Will this make a profit, or be another Amtrak? How many people will it serve? Inquiring minds want to know.
So I take it, not many people are happy living the Progressive Socialist Dream…?
I think I will have a spotted owl sandwich, garnished with seared smelt on moldy green bread today, to celebrate all these new wonderful GREEN government job opportunities…!!!

Trains. What is this the 30's? I thought Obama was supposed to usher in the future like the Jetsons and flying cars, but he thinks the future of transportation is trains? That says a lot.

Let me ask you this…are you a believer in freedom and liberty for people or are you a believer that it's much better to live as a slave? We have a serious problem here in America that is defining just that. Are you free or are you a slave? Well the answer to that will be determined with the passing of time and what the American citizens do about the AMERICAN CRIME OF THE CENTURY! If you stand up and fight this most obvious and blatant assault on the U.S. Constitution being perpetrated and committed by the democrats and the republicans, well then you are a believer in freedom and liberty for the people. If you just stand by and do nothing and go along with what the democrats and republicans who want you to believe about Barack Obama being a legitimate president then you prefer to live your life out as a slave!
The democrats and republicans betrayed WE THE PEOPLE and the U.S. Constitution by allowing an unqualified candidate (Barack Obama) run (and win) for the Office of the President with their waving of their middle finger to ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 of the U.S. Constitution which as the Supreme Law of the Land says that to be a candidate to run for the Office of the President a candidate must be a "NATURAL BORN CITIZEN", Barack Obama is not a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN and has no business occupying the people's White House and putting America in a state of international danger with his policies of incompetence! If this is an example of how elected officials who swear oath to serve, uphold and protect the Constitution, but to only turn around and practice treason to the Constitution, think of the Constitution! Then we are nothing but tax paying slaves to them unless WE THE PEOPLE stand up and fight because as it is right now your government thinks of you as a helpless slave! This is what America has become! People you need to research the Law of Nations, the Congressional Globe and this SCOTUS case "Minor v. Happersett" of 1874!
Last week my son was painting a room he said this paint is thinner, checked the can, it now has a "green" label on it,they must have changed it first of the year. He had to do more coats and get another gallon.
So we used more material and burned more gas using a green product.
"Green" is a stupid color.

The only thing Barry knows about business is what he’s read in a book, remember he describes business as the “enemy.” Light rail fits right into his Keynesian mindset, the best of times with FDR and the WPA…sheesh.
4th quarter GDP rose 5.7%, despite Barry’s anti-business policy. That’s good news for companies, but what’s in the 4th quarter business cycle?…Christmas!
I loved how all Obama's supposed job creation (I'm sorry "Job Saving") thus far has been in the public sector. That's not really helping the private sector now is it?
That $5 per gallon gas is coming, unfortunately, and his policies are speeding up its arrival date.
High speed rail:
AMTRAK loses money year after year. Billions have been sunk into this system which loses more and more passengers. The ones who think they will benefit are the Joe Bidens of DC, NY, Philly and other eastern cities, who want to decrease their commuter time. But high speed rail is just another boondoggle to benefit unions, insiders who just happen to own property on the routes, and other campaign contributors. Also, if you have these trains dependent on electricity, how will the power be generated? If they are diesel, how will the massive fuel consumption affect the prices of petroleum (and the decreasing supply because we can't drill for more than what salazar and Obama say we can)?
Do forget about "community organizers" — they are still doing quite well under Barack's supreme leadership.
High speed rail..That creates jobs. It would save time having homelless get free tickets and save time tripping to distant bridges to sleep under. Of course bridges that were built with shovel ready dollars.
Homeless have a right to sleep under new railroad bridges. The repo man got their house after they lost the job that was pushed to China.

I am an economist. A classmate is an exec at Amtrak. Passenger rail is the most expensive form of transportation. It costs more per passenger mile than flying.
The unions are the same as any bloated bureaucracy that liberals put into place "for the people". They have just simply worn out their "necessity" to be around and now just consume taxpayers wallets.
A high speed railroad system is a fantastic form of transportation if access to an automobile were not so easy.
Hence, this idea will never pick up speed much less the required number of riders.
Besides why would they get on this train? To go look for a job?
As far as this 5,000 tax cut for a small business if it hires a new employee. All that is is putting a Federal Govt. Welfare check in a different color envelope.
MESSAGE TO Obama: Small businesses hire additional employees when they generate additional customers.
This "Jobs" bill, I am sure, will go over big in Detroit. (more Obama bucks folks).
The only increase in manufacturing has been in the production of dollar bill ink.
But if they manage to force us common folk out of airplanes through rail subsidies, cap and trade energy taxes and the like, they will be able to take off on their taxpayer funded, Air Force piloted, "fact-finding" junkets without having to wait for even a single other airplane using their runway.
Air travel was so much better when only the true elite could afford to fly.
It will produce quite a few union jobs and that is good for those particular union workers.
However, as Federally run program, what might have cost a buck will inevitably cost cost us five.
OK money is not an object you say. The important thing here is we will be giving the government more control of the economic engine that is capitalism.
Do we really want to go down the; Great Leap Forward or Five Year Plans road.

It takes wheels to get too and from the rail station at each end. There is no way on this planet an American train can match the low cost per mile of 3 people riding in a GM suburban.

The Budget for a 7 mile light rail line in Va Beach/Norfolk is running 250% over the original bid.
Hundreds of millions of dollars for a light rail line that goes 7 miles in one direction, and then 7 miles back.
I know of no mass transit system in this nation that can stand on it's own merit finacially. Do you? If so please let me know. Each and every one of them are on a subsitance allowance of Federal and State money that all working tax payers are contributing to, and only about 1% are using.
Now, we can debate the many issues as to why such a small percetage of the population is using them. But the biggest reason is it's "not convenient". I would love to use mass trans, but it would add an additional 2 hours to my commute each day. And if not for the subsistance of Gov't and if it had to stand on it's own finacially by charging the rates necessary to keep it in business no one could afford it.
I hear all the good things about mass transit and how good it's been by keeping cars off the road. So be it, but at what cost to the 99% that don't use it. Take your trains and shove it.
Yes, and San Francisco to Mousetown West is the same. Considering it cost $5 billion to build a 5 mile stretch of unused subway in L A, I can only imagine the cost of an unused high speed rail system.

Try and tell that to the people on Wall Street…after the Dow slipped under 10,100, today its shot up over 100 points already. Short-term thinking is KILLING this country…no one ever says how many banks failed in 2009….137 failed!!! This year, we've had 7 already, and I bet that there will be at least 1 more today. Ever notice how bank failures are announced on Friday's AFTER the stock market has closed? That way people 'forget" about it over the weekend…the Dow will be below 10,000 in the near future after people remember that Christmas carried the 4th qtr GDP

Right!! They are going to spin this GDP growth all quarter to try and get the public back on thier side. It will be fun to watch what happens this spring once the numbers go back down.
If they have to build these trains – run them between major airports. Then passengers could use it as just another "leg" of a trip instead of having to connect to a bus service.
And let the airlines market the tickets – get as much government out of the process as possible.

4th Q GDP rose 2.2% when you factor out the inventory. 3.4% is simply inventory sitting in warehouses. I'd be willing to bet the remaining 2.2% is "Obama money."
I expect the unemployment #'s will increase also because the Christmas hires were laid off.
Job creation you can believe in? Will this be another promise that is meant to be broken? It is really surprising that Obama should talk about creating jobs when the economic conditions do not lead to it. If Obama is thinking of the high speed rail system as something that will create jobs, I don't think it will work. The government shouldn't waste money on projects which are temporary solutions to the real problem.
I believe obummer said we'd start exporting more of our( union made) products, and IF a chinese worker makes
forty cents an hour, to produce the same product, how, exactly is that going to work. Wasn't it Ross Perot who said

All of this high-speed rail talk is just that – useless talk. As has already been pointed out, Am-Trak is losing
money hand over fist. Moreover, the jobs that will be so-called created are not the type that have any
enduring life.

Bob, check out the article linked below. The eligibility issue was not so much bought off, but rather fixed by the two major parties, as they each nominated their own non-natural born citizen candidates in 2008: McCain (not born in the US) and Obama (son of a non-US citizen).

I would add that the Republicans remain silent now because they have a rising star by the name of Jindal who could run in 2012 (President or VP). Jindal was born in Louisiana to non-citizen parents and is thus not a natural born citizen.
Obama is a Natural Born Citizen due to his birth in Hawaii, which has been proven by the official birth certificate of the state of Hawaii, the facts on which were confirmed twice by the officials in Hawaii (members of a Republican governor's administration).
A Natural Born Citizen is simply a citizen at birth, one who has not been naturalized. A US citizen who has been born in the USA is always a Natural Born Citizen regardless of the number of US parents she or he has.
