Reason.tv: We’re The TSA And You Can Count On Us!
by Nick GillespieWe’re the Transportation Security Administration. We’re working hard to make sure you enjoy a safe flight. And while we cannot apprehend every terrorist, you can count on us to do what we’re trained to do whenever there’s a security breach–overreact to tiny threats.
Overreact to tiny threats; ignore the big ones. That’s what we do, and we do it better than anyone.

Your government at work…. And they want these asshats unionized? Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.
I can't believe they grabbed that kids Christmas present, a perfect microcosm of a greater stupidity in motion. Bush was wrong to let the TSA or Homeland Security even happen at all, ever. They should just turn the lights off and stop payroll on both departments.
Why is all this worth it to lavish money on Israel?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBvtFX-HaTM
It seems this experiment has proven ineffective. Time to try something new…or OLD! Check what the Israelis are doing successfully!
We're in charge and nothing can go wrong go wrong go wrong wrong go wrong go…….
Every time you see one of these TSA agents, sleeping, talking on cell phones or with ear buds in, take a picture and post it.
This is a funny post, but I'm sure it hits a little too close to home for most of us. About a year and a half after 9/11 I had to fly to Washington D.C with two co-workers for business. As we boarded the plane, one of my co-workers was pulled aside for a random search of his carry-on luggage. He was searched, along with a teenage girl traveling with her mother, a 70-ish year old lady, two businessmen in suits, and a 30-something year old woman with a little baby. Everyone who was searched was white. Once everyone was on board, it was determined that there was a mechanical problem with the AC unit, so everyone had to de-plane so the problem could be fixed. The passengers were told we were not allowed to leave the gate (they had it roped off and an armed officer was at the entrance) under any circumstances and if we did, we would not be allowed back in. Nobody left. Then they announced boarding, and they "randomly searched" THE EXACT SAME PEOPLE they had searched the first time. Ridiculous.
Has anyone taken notice to the "types" at TSA on the frontlinesmost appear to have made it out of High School by the skin of their teeth. I have no faith in these people. Many times I have observed them not watching whats going through the belt while they are busy in conversation with a co-worker.
Im sure there are some highly qualified but majority fit the infamous "Mall Security Cop" reject mold and what are they going to do if someone gets physical many dont appear they can handle themselves in a physical altercation. I mean that seriously, many viewed are overweight or very small or up there in age.
If they get unionized do not be surprised if its SEIU after all it appears Mr.Stern has access to the WH back door at this point!
STOP playing their game and start playing your game through http://www.savingtherepublic.com Saving the Republic
Outstanding but false! However, is this kind of speech still allowed now? For how much longer, eh, will we be forced to listen to this kind of phony baloney, ridiculous parody of the TSA and other Big Government stuff? Jeez, I'd thought that the One would put a stop to this kinda RIGHT WING stuff?
It used to be overseas travel we worried about getting diarrhea. Now the nasty part of the travel experience is the TSA handling.
This is an accurate portrayal of the continuing saga of government "fubar". Translation/government; Eff'd up beyond all recognition.
We've taken care of everything
The words you hear, the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
It's one for all and all for one
We work together, common sons
Never need to wonder how or why
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls
Look around at this world we've made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh, what a nice, contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation
We have assumed control
These people are just like mall cops. They detain Michael Yon for what? Ignoring his request to disclose how much he earns? Un-freaking believable.
That's right. Keep up the good work – you expose another plot by the JEWZ. How predictable – douchebag.
Don't worry, President Obama fired the CIA and FBI and hired Interpol!
Check that, Worry!!!
Don't worry, President Obama has fired the CIA and FBI and hired Interpol!
Check that, Worry!!! Now, more people that really hate us are in charge!!!
Eliminate the need for the TSA, all Muslims fly on the same plane….
FALSE?!!! I took a flight with my wife this past summer from Charlotte/ Douglas in Charlotte, NC to Indianapolis, Indiana. It was an early flight (6:30 am) and in the rush to get there I didn't think to put my pocket knife in our checked bag. I quickly took it out of my pocket and put it in the backpack that we carried on. The guy that was supposed to be watching the viewer on the bag scanner was so into his conversation with a co-worker that he completely missed it. Granted its only a 3 inch blade but come on…..its metal!!!! The easiest thing to see when going through those scanners is anything metal!!!
I feel safer………………NOT. No offense, but at our international airport, TSA people look like they 1. just barely got out of high school, 2. are on a break from an AA meeting, 3. are my grandma and grandpa, or 4. must be there to continue to receive their welfare payment.
Shouldn't the TSA, a line of defense against terrorists consist of actual law enforcement officers? Just a thought.
HAHAHA! I have to laugh, because if I don't laugh I'll curl up into a ball and vomit.
sigh
Or the best part…depending on our trip and who is "handling" you. LOL
Sometimes when I travel I carry a small sketch book and a few pencils, etc. Among these items is a kneadable eraser. For the non-artists in the group, these are pliable, moldable, soft rubber erasers- kinda like silly-putty- that look like a lump of grey plastic- (pretty much just like plastic explosive looks in the movies). I've been the 'random' searchee a couple times (they must be profiling average middle-aged white guys) and they've never paid any attention to it.
yep, they're sharp as marbles…
Same here bro, same here.
Tell ya what bud, I asked for a new Flip HD camera for Christmas (and I got it lol) just so I can now go catch stuff like what you are talking about on tape. That and if something like what happened to Mr Gladney happens to me I want it to be documented for my own protection.
Funny how the MSM's lack of doing there job is turning private citizens like myself into reporters.
or they know what an eraser is…
your lucky if they can figure out what way to hold a pencil, no way they know what a kneadable eraser is!
This wouldn't be so bad if these TSA agents were actually TRAINED for the job they are doing!! I am pretty sure they have no more than an hour of some idiot telling them what to do, and of course they forget what that is the minute they walk out the door!! I would NEVER get on an air plane in the USA!!!
Ahhhhh, it's all the JOOZ fault! So when is the NWO taking over?
The comments on that channel make even the most liberal lefty look sane. The Jesuits were behind 9/11? That's a new one on me.
Pretty sad. Dedicated and hard working civil servants and their good work evaporates the first time there is a glitch in the system. The full throated voice of the right wing gleefully telling us 'I told you so' while they pretend that some for-profit government contractor could do it better… cheaper. No one ever dies when Blackwater or Halliburton is on the job. Those guys never have a shift change or break for a sandwich, or look left when they should look right.
How frustrating it must be to see everything you have worked for undone by the mistake of some knucklehead in Denmark or Africa. Almost seems a bit unfair doesn't it? All of us here can be thankful that no one ever holds us to the impossible standard that makes us accountable for worldwide perfection.
I'll hold him for ya!
What's the point besides gridlock and havoc at the airports, most of the TSA manpower is useless. Profiling like the Israelis do and having a comprehensive no-fly database would take a fraction of the useless manpower and be much more effective.
seig heil asshat
AP: Obama was arrested on January 3rd in Terminal One at LAX, a source told NBCLA. He had just gotten off duty and was behaving erratically, saying, "I am god, I’m in charge."
Profiling requires intelligence, and the ability to reason and exercise good judgment. It'll never work with the TSA.
TSA employees have the same attitude as the workers at the DMV, I think they like the fact that they are in charge and they let the power go to their heads. I was at the DMV two weeks ago and I've never witnessed such rude behavoir before in my life. There were no cellphones, food, or drinks allowed in the building. A young lady, who had a baby with her, was told at the door she could not enter with her child's baby bottle. About an hour later, the same young lady's telephone rang and she answered it because it was her babysitter and you would have thought she had committed murder. The security guard SCREAMED at her from across the room and threatened to kick her out if she didn't hang up the phone. The security guards were big bullies and totally abusing their power.
Oncent –
While the concept of what the Israelis do is laudable, it would require a staggering amount of personal, not "a fraction" as you state Think TSA on crack. Here's why:
El Al has _34_ planes….TOTAL. They fly roughly 3 million pax / year.
US carriers have as many as 7,000 planes in the air at peak times, and handle as many passengers in two days as El Al does in THE ENTIRE YEAR.
So go do the math.

False? Apparently you haven't been watching any news in the last couple weeks!!! loooooooooooooool
And it wasn't in this video (of course), but the lovely TSA confiscated the hand lotion my daughter gave me for Christmas~~ Thank YOU TSA!!! We all feel so much safer now!!
You still have the balls to show your name and spill your hate filled bile on these pages troll meat.
Keep your spanning to the "StormFront" site where you can be a hero…not here where normal people post.
Now back under your bridge meat or you'll be slapped harder next time with a hickory axe handle.
Not Over.
Stop trying to make it sensible, it isn't, and it's never going to be. The only sensible thing to do is shut down the TSA, and that isn't going to happen. These mall cops are here to stay, and they're going union too.
"Law Enforcement" at its finest. Thank them if you wish. I curse them every day for what they've done to this country, and thank God every time he removes another of them from office.
Get your head out of your a………….ah, to hell with it, you are a lost cause.
If it's 500 hundred miles or less, I drive. Screw 'em.
Relax folks. Did you actually read what he wrote?
IT'S CALLED SARCASM!!!!
Stop being exactly what the idiot left accuses us of.
What many people don't seem to realize is that approximately 60% of the original TSA personnel (airport screeners) were the same ones working for the private security firms, making minimum wage, the month before. Now, many of them have been eliminated, but I am sure some are still there.
By the way, they technically have no LE authority. They have to go and get the few that are around in order to detain someone.
I stopped flying altogether several years ago. If it's a lightyear or less, I drive. Screw 'em.
It confounds me endlessly how acountry like our's can put the most incompetent oaf's in any position of
authority. From the W.H.on down, self avowed commies 35+czars,bothsenate&congress for sale,we're being sold into slavery ever deeper every day.The ruling class will escape this,They'll have no part in the health care that at
gun-point we have to get.TSA,will be unionized,bet your ass(soon thats all you'llhave left to bet&buy with)Union's
protect the incompetent.Witness State&Town employee'sDMV.SEIU w/ soon be in the airports.Obama's a one
termer, unlessACORNunions, special int. rigs for the1stU.S.election.THAT I'll bet MY ass on!! You watch,no B.S.!!!
This could be fixed by profiling. All of the airline attacks have been executed by muslim arabs. So we should profile muslim arabs until some one blond and blue eyed blows up a plane load of tourists. Anything else is a waste.
YES! Triple pay for the pilot and s/he gets to oversee the security checks for all passengers and luggage before departure.
I love that album. Though it is kind of spooky, knowing that's from the 70's.
So we are supposed to buckle under to a bunch of Muslim backward flying bullies who disagree with history.
Israel is the only territory on that side of the planet that truly represents freedom and democracy. For that reason alone America supports Israel and will defend her like a brother, unlike the M world that would sell their own mother down the river for a peace of silver.
That’s why the M's will never win no matter how long time continues.
Their hand is against every hand and every brother against his brother
I can't wait until I have a full cavity search over at the Greyhound as soon as SEIU/TSA sets up shop.
I will cut right to the chase and say what I have noticed. I will save the sensitive among you the trouble.
"The Friendly Grizzly is raaaacist!!!" Now that we have that out of the way, here is my observation based on my travel experience. The most attitudinal TSA agents are black. Period, paragraph, end of story. Most of these people are rude, have limited ability to compose and speak in declarative sentences, and tend to pay attention only insofar as they can make your life miserable. I have yet to encounter a rude white agent.
Your mileage may vary.
Several years ago I had my carry-on bag turned inside out because it tripped a sniffer sensor. Out came the pocket sniffer until they narrowed it down to the AC adapter for my cell phone. They'd sniff, then swab the adapter and sniffer, then sniff again. Every time it set off their machine. They were ready to confiscate it! I explained to the agent that it is plugged in right next to the stove in my kitchen and it probably absorbed odors from cooking spices or something. I even plugged it in and then plugged it into my phone to show that it was functional. It took a supervisor to finally release me to continue on. His e-nose said stop and this guy didn't have the brains to figure out what a blatantly false reading looked like. I was seriously bracing myself for the strip search which seemed to be coming.
My limit is up around 600 now.
While this went on, no doubt Machmoud, Mohammad, and whomever got waved through due to their dark skin and the like. Wouldn't want to profile, you know!
We need a law to require all government employees, especialy TSA and DHS employees, to fly commercial only. Then we might see some security changes that make sense.
We spent 24 hours in at Detroit Metro because our flights kept getting cancelled for some various reason "original plane did not make it in due to ice storm, smoke detector not working in lavatory on the next plane, etc" we would then get changed to a different airline. Each time we went to get on the new plane, we were treated like the worst kind of Terror Threat. We were all searhed, bags taken apart. At one time, they had my 10 year old son standing on one foot while they scanned his leg, when he lost his balance and put the foot down, he was yelled at and told that he could only put his foot down when they said he could. We had this happen three times in a 24 hour period. We never left the airport in that entire span of time, but we were treated so horribly. Those TSA agents could have been just as effective with 98% less of the attitude. We were delayed 24 hours, searched repeatedly and treated badly, (of course our luggage was lost when we did get to our final destination) After finally getting our bags, they each had little notices in them stating they had been searched by hand, as if I didnt figure it out by the condition they were in.
Words fail me. You're asswipe.
OBAMA IS PERFECT EXAMPLE WHY AMERICA WANTS A "NATURAL BORN CITIZEN" FOR PRESIDENT!
It is Obama that is pushing for leniency and mercy for his "TERRORIST MUSLIM BROTHERS" Barack Obama, right before the eyes of all Americans, is setting the perfect example of why the Founding Fathers wanted a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN with a strong allegiance to the United States of America by having a mother and father who both were U.S. citizens, for president! This clown as president and "COMMANDER in CHIEF" does not know which country he is supposed to be devoted too! He is conflicted! America can not have a president and Commander in Chief that is militarily conflicted…he can't recognize who the enemy is!
And evidently they can walk away from their posts so that anyone can walk through. Great.
I got pulled out and isolated from my family at George Bush International a few years ago because I had a keychain that had a 45 caliber bullet on it. The key ring went through a hole drilled in the casing! A "supervisor", all 140 pounds of him, came in and asked me "What are we going to do with you?" Hmm. "You could let me continue on to New Orleans with my family", was my first thought. Of course, I did not say this aloud. Meanwhile, this guy tries to tower over me, like he's got my life in his hands. I wasn't worried, as I have a little experience with the law and the court system, and "lawsuit" kept flashing in my mind at that time, if this little Hitler had tried to press the matter by arresting me for trying to smuggle ammunition onto a flight.
I got out of it, and just in time to catch my connecting flight, when he "offered" to let me go if I surrendered the "ammunition". I guess he was trying to save some face after he tried to get all "Jack Webb" on me over a stupid key-chain!
Needless to say, I am still not impressed by the caliber of the bullet heads in the TSA, especially in light of recent events.
The TSA, yet another glowing example of government efficiency and prudence. I bet most of them can't read.
