Be Happy!: Why This Is the Best Holiday Season Ever.
by Nick Gillespie/p>
We’re going through some tough economic times right now, but this holiday season, take a moment to appreciate how good we really have it.
Need proof? Just think about how much Christmas presents sucked in the 1970s compared to today.
Thanks to our market-based system, we’re wealthier, we have more choices, and we enjoy more leisure time than ever before.
From all of us at Reason.tv, happy holidays!
Produced by Paul Feine and Hawk Jensen. Hosted by Nick Gillespie.

There is still a lot to be thankful for!
Though I suspect things will get worse next year in the end this insane clowns and his administration will bring themselves down, and possibly the whole progressive movement with them.
are we really wealthier than the 70s or do we just have more access to credit? I find it hard to believe that Americans are in less debt than the 70s…
I suppose we should be thankful, in a way, for the grossly incompetent, blatantly mendacious, and mucho Marxists administration we have now; but only because all three exist in the same poorly wrapped package. Why? Because its only a matter of time before enough Dems with a few tatters of self-respect stop voting in lockstep with their party. It's only a matter of time before the false dichotomy of Tea Party…er..Party and Republican is resolved, and the base makes the Repub leadership clearly aware that a center-left shift is suicide. It's only a matter of time before the hardworking rank and file can no longer ignore that their corrupt union leadership have become a new nomenklatura.
After all, the Peanut heralded Ronald Reagan, and though Jimmah may be batsh*t crazy now, he was only an incompetent boob back then (I know, I'm being generous. It's Hannuramakwanzmas, after all).

I am thankful that we are not in a global depression and that I survived a layoff. About this time last year I was certain that I was getting ready to lose it all.
I am thankful that the markets regained some of the losses and that my 401k is in the black and my private investments are close to 2007 levels. I am thankful that Copenhagen was a big bunch of nothing, and that health care *may* be dead.
I am very thankful for Andrew Breitbart and the editors and contributors!
I am thankful more and more Americans are waking up and making steps toward taking back control of our country!
Look out DemRATS — 2010 midterms are only 11+ months away and there is a tidal wave of unhappy Americans rolling in to a voting both near you!
I am thank for the men and women in military uniform now and in the past. They stood up when too many turned away… For they pay the true cost of freedom..

I don't know how grateful and happy I can be with thousands and thousands of people that have lost their homes and have no money to buy any presents for their children. I see hundreds waiting in line for free food. I see stress and pain on their faces while this satanic Userper spends thousands on Kobe beef and parties for his Hollywood pals. How can I be grateful when these marxist-fascists are trying to destory this country, spitting on the Constitution and flaunting all this in our faces?
Sorry, but this Christmas will be only for the rich, the government and the others who are thankfully still employed.
"Thanks to our market-based system, we’re wealthier, we have more choices, and we enjoy more leisure time than ever before."
First of all Nick, it's the Christmas season, not the politically-correct, "reason"-based "holidays" (which really mean "holy days"). Second of all, our market-based system originated from Biblical principles put into practice.
Thank you to: 1. The Lord Jesus Christ for blessing this nation like none other in history; 2. The Founding Fathers who applied those teachings into the codification of our founding documents; 3. All who have or who have ever served in the Armed Forces to keep us free from enemies, both domestic and international. 4. All those who serve in law enforcement.; 5. everyone else who deserves thanks that I haven't mentioned here.
Merry Christmas!
our buying power has dropped since the 70's..
While we do have more choices now because of technology, that does not change ( for me ) the reason for the season….there have been some good years, and some not so good years in between. This is and always should be the season of giving, because you have love in your heart. I remember vividly, the way our military personnel were treated when they come home from a war that they had no choice but to be drafted into..the citizens of this great country treated those who made it home, like criminals…and now, we have the opposite, the citizens treating our military like the heros' the have always been, and now, the government treating them like they are scum…I'm thinking that everything we are seeing, has already happened before, we just need the best outcome…Thank you Andrew and Fox news for seeing to it that the people are at least informed!
Merry Christmas & Happy Hannakah to everyone!! GOD bless America!!
I'm thankful were one day closer to throwing Obama out of office
What a great name.
Yeah that market based system was really great wasn't it.
Maybe Obama and company will be remembered for starting a resurgence within the Republican party.
That would be the ultimate Justice.
I thank God for the gift of my family, my country, the men and women who serve in the military and their famlies.
Everything else if just "stuff".
WOW! I am thankful not to be possessed of such a materialist view of life re: what should make me "happy". Seriously, I thought (hoped?) Mr. Gillespie was going to punctuate his commentary with something like, "But now we have the good sense to know that life is more than worthless, electronic trinkets" and then I noticed he works for Reason. An org that can put Drew Carry out front as its face is too material for this old coots liking. Seriously, having the best "holiday" ever is something that is available to anyone w/ a mind to seek its true meaning. MD
I was surprised to say the least, at the positive response that Glenn Beck got from the audience, I do believe that Leno was shocked also!!
Great info here on holidays. I cant wait till my next holiday and this has been helpful.
That rss feature on your website here is awesome, you should tell more folks about it in your next post. I haven’t noticed it for the first couple of times, now I’m using it every morning to check on any updates. I’m on a really slow dial-up connection in Kentucky and it’s quite frustrating to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and there you are… I’m always up-to-date! Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well
