this gets to the NUMBER ONE REASON we here like Governor Rick Perry.
Two Words: Tort Reform.
Loser pays. Texas has it, and business is flocking there in unprecedented numbers. Eliminating frivolous lawsuits
will unemploy a few lawyers, true. But it will save business- AND the taxpayers- billions.
So, to all of our lawyer friends we say you serve a real function. But suing someone just so you can get a nuisance settlement using lies is not only un-American but just flat out wrong.
And you all know it…
We need to start ENFORCING barratry laws (sanctioning lawyers who file baseless complaints). And we need to enact loser pays as well as CAP the fees they can get from class action lawsuits.
Yes, thank you ! ! !
All beginning with the suing of McDonalds for having coffee that's "too hot". This IDIOTIC lawsuit started (I believe) the big spiral downward to where we are now.
Thanks, idiot lawyers ! ! !
We have created a society that has rewarded creative lawyering while at the same time opressed creative educating. Thank you liberals!
Member of the Bar = Title of Nobility.
And is the reason Michele Bachmann is unelectable.
If we are to regain Natures law, which has been supplanted by legal law, we must destroy the power structure held by those doing the supplanting.
Stop Voting For members of the Bar. Expel from government the members of the Bar who currently occupy our government.
It is nonsense to believe that lawyers will craft law or execute law that will bite the hand that feeds them. The Bar is the enemy within.
Obamugabe's job bill would allow the long term unemployed to be given a special status category that would allow them to sue someone if they weren't hired based on discrimination. So if you have one job opening, and 1,000 applicants, you potentially have 999 litigators despite you doing nothing wrong.
That'll help job creation, eh?
Excellent ideas for killing American jobs! We don't need fewer lawyers, we just need to pay them less. Lets import some Chinese lawyers to "correct" the market.
This has to be fixed before we expect our GDP to ever recover. If you are afraid to manufacture anything new because of lawyers, our GDP is not going to grow.
If you want to weaken America, just keep the GDP low while helping other countries grow their GDP over an extended period of time.
One hundred and sixteen countries are growing faster than we are. How long will it take for us to drop to the bottom?
Check out this link and see where we are (this is 2010 data – the 2011 data is even worse).
Many of the original colonies banned lawyers from their borders. Lawyers were considered anathema. They were considered "Jonahs" and evil people.
Nothing has changed. We need to get rid of lawyers and the moose. Maybe send them to Uranus? Make them polyps on Satan's colon.
Yes, some Christian lawyers are OK, but Trial Lawyers are Satan's tools – without exception.
Jesus told us to settle out of court. He knew – - -
IMO class-action lawsuits are generally crap. The only entities realizing anything from the successful class-action suit are the attorneys. The rest of the chumps in the class get a coupon or a few pennies, plus have their own personal right to sue eliminated. Class-action should be eliminated or at the least, very narrowly defined.
