The Marriage Between Free Press and George Soros Gets Stronger

Our Soros-supported socialist friends at Free Press just announced that David Saldana will be its new communications director. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, you evidently haven’t been following Mr. Soros’ funding priorities.
Before joining Free Press, he was with the Soros’ front group, the National Security and Human Rights Campaign. Think calling it a front group is too strong? Then just go to its website, which is conveniently located at Soros.org. The group’s mission is to promote “progressive national security policies,” a term as embedded in contradiction as “French steadfastness.”
Prior to that, Saldana was the Deputy Editorial Director at Media Matters for America, the beneficiary of a seven-figure donation from Mr. Soros’ Open Society Initiative.
Chances are, this means that even last December’s FCC power grab over the web hasn’t gone far enough to satisfy Mr. Soros. This isn’t surprising. We can see his fingers in the most obvious places, like the FCC’s Net Neutrality Order, all the way down to the least lit reaches – as in the recent Comcast Merger Order and one of the company’s “voluntary” commitments to boost local journalism via the “Voice of Sand Diego Model,” a socially progressive news organization, which gets funding in part from, you guessed it, George Soros’ Open Society Foundations).
Soros’ connection to federal policymaking for the Internet is both deeply entrenched and a well-oiled machine. The Wall Street Journal’s John Fund brilliantly dissected how the Soros-funded group Free Press manufactured online crises to justify the FCC’s neutrality power grab.
This isn’t the first time that someone has written about groups inventing crises to justify federal regulations. As far as Net Neutrality and Mr. Saldana are concerned, it will surely not be the last.

The internet and free speech is something Soros see's as the biggest threat to his Utopian Marxist agenda. We need to be vocal, speak the truth and get the word out to everyone who will listen, this truly is our last chance folks……………do it while we still can.
I'm all for congressional investigations. But we need to have the Appropriations Committee looking at defunding FCC, EPA, DOE, etc. etc.
The House, in the upcoming budget resolution can direct that NO FUNDING can be used in the enforcement of any regulation that has not been approved by Congress. A combination of congressional review and budget restrictions can be used to shut down every destructive regulation that the communist-in-chief attempts to force on the country.
As the voices of millions drown out the pitiful whimpers of Soros employees, America will be safe from this lunatic and his fellow thumb suckers. Everything they do can be repealed and sanity restored. All it takes is unity of purpose and the love of country in 2012.
Soros uses innocent words to convey evil deeds. Open Society means tyranny. Center for American Progress means enslavement to the elite in government. Free Press means bought and paid for leftist ideological propaganda. Soros owns every filthy anti-American rag in the country.

Refresh me. My mind has gone blank, but there was a high profile writer for the Huffington Post, who was arrested within the last month or two, for sleeping with his daughter. Either he, or his wife was a Professor at either Harvard, or Columbia.
Currently I'm reading an article in Reason magazine on this subject. While I don't think the author understands how networking actually works, they do have an interesting angle that hadn't occurred to me before.
The author claims its also a fight between the telecommunication giants and the application giants like Google and Bit Torrent. The application giants don't want telecommunication corporations to be able to limit bandwidth on their products.
Normally I would take that with a grain of salt. But Google does seem to have quite the cozy relationship with the current administration.
The one paragraph that leaped out at me was a quote by the FCC chairman. He said issues would be handled on a case by case basis. Which translates to 'we'll decide who and what to prosecute, we'll make that decision, and there will be no hard and fast rules which citizens can learn.'
Selective prosecution.

The fact remains that these things occured. The four consecutive reports were filed by Carl Cameron. AIPAC did demand the reports be removed from their site and are now fighting to have it obliterated entirely from the net. It is so difficult to stay on top of things going on in this country and the world around us while juggling job and family…sharing with same, of concerns that affect us both directly and indirectly. Speaking only for myself and for the moment, writing to my congressmen/senators is what I do on matters close to home. Meanwhile, speaking to family and friends to learn what they know (if at all) in the world of local, national and world politics. You learn quite easily who leans liberal and who leans conservative. Sometimes, I'm taken aback who I know are liberal. But, we've collected/shared our knowledge, expectations and what we need to do to share valuable insight to prepare for what could be ahead.
With our difficult times in the oilpatch, that is the most we can do. Stay abreast, pay the bills, fight the collectors and keep the family fed while little by little stocking up on all the "necessities" as a just in case measure.
THAT, I feel, is the best anyone can do right now…..

Yes this merger stuff and Net Neutering seems to be out in front of the fact that online streaming vs cable TV is about here for good and Big Corps and Big Apps seem to be scrambling to figure out who will dominate this new form of content feed and how much we sheeple will pay for it. Hence GE/Comcast hook up. If they can regulate bandwidth, then we will have to pay more to get extra bandwidth necessary to stream movies? ie is the the next phase Post Cable? Actually we already pay more for extra bandwidth. I can pay about $5 a month for 56K dial up, or I can freely choose to pay more for a cable modem, which I do.
The way to look at this issue is every one has their own goals and their incentives.
The big apps want to make sure they don't get slowed down or their customers get charged more. The big telecoms don't want any out side interference with their business. Politicians want more power so they can sell favors for votes. And the wackos on the left want content control to silence their opponents. Put them all in a big pot, bring to a boil, and it's hard to tell what exactly is going on.
The only part of the equation I would consider myself knowledgeable enough to speak on is the networking portion. It's what I've been doing for the last dozen years or so. And what is being proposed will not work.
It's a solution in search of a problem.
