CRS Report On ACORN An Incompetent Whitewash

Not surprisingly, the new Congressional Research Service report on ACORN continues the Democrats’ coverup of President Obama’s favorite advocacy group.
The CRS report commissioned by House Judiciary Committee chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) and House Financial Services Committee chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) –both longtime ACORN allies– is a whitewash.
The first finding Conyers and Frank crow about in a press release is this:
There were no instances of individuals who were allegedly registered to vote improperly by ACORN or its employees and who were reported “attempting to vote at the polls.”
This is demonstrably false. Darnell Nash of Cleveland, Ohio, was registered to vote nine times by ACORN. After fraudulently casting a ballot, he was convicted of both vote fraud and voter registration fraud and sentenced to six months imprisonment. ACORN remains under investigation by the elected Democratic prosecutor Bill Mason in Cuyahoga County (at least according to Mason’s spokesman the last time I spoke to him).
And to think — our tax dollars paid for this worthless report.
One might expect the CRS would actually have its researchers expend a bit of shoe leather and do real research, but that’s not what CRS did. In the cover letter accompanying the report CRS explains that “a NEXIS search of the ALL NEWS file did not identify any reported instances of individuals who were improperly registered by ACORN attempting to vote at the polls.”
That’s all CRS did. A Nexis search.
That’s pretty shoddy methodology. All CRS had to do was make a few phone calls to experts who track ACORN and they could have come up with the correct information.

Besides, why should politicians be able to fund virtual armies of advocates whose main use it to assure the re-election of their political masters? Let these private groups get a true gauge of their value to society by making them raise all of their money from the private sector.

Big surprise there. And don't expect ANY congressional action against ACORN until they lose control next November. They need a healthy, well funded ACORN/SEIU to spread the rest of the 'porkulus' $$$ around so they can buy key districts and stuff voter roles.

By any standard of logic, any time an entity makes a statement that allows for no margin of error, like "NO INSTANCES" and there is one documented instance where such an event occured, that is enough to disqualify the entire statement. Just look at the smear job done to Mark Furman during the OJ trial. They asked him something like, "Have you ever spoken the "n word" in your lifetime, detective?" and when he basically said, "No way" and they played the tape of him reading off a script for an audio book and the "n word" was used in context of the story, his credibility was shot, because he said he never said it but he did.
Conyers' wife is facing three to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for bribery. John Conyers' coverup for Acorn makes him guilty of far worse. With him as Judiciary Committee chairman, don't expect any real justice until he is removed from office.

I feel it important to defend the CRS here because I do think they are a first rate research organization with a lot of experts on staff. The problem is not necessarily the report (which I haven't read in full) but you need to determine what was the question that was asked. CRS researchers don't just undertake any study that interests them, they respond to specific requests from Members of Congress. So the most important information to have is the question that Conyers and Frank asked and what restrictions they put on the request.

You are wrong when you say the President is a Muslim. It doesn't matter what his father's faith was, he was raised a Christian and claims his Christian heritage. No one else gets to decide what is in his heart.

In my 25 years as an Air Force officer I met officers of all political and religious background. We are as diverse as the nation we serve. What makes us special, is our commitment to national security and the defense of the Constitution. I met a lot of guys who didn't like Bill Clinton, but I never knew anyone to suggest that an order not be obeyed because they didn't like his politics.
You step into some very dangerous territory if you test that commitment.

For a grown man who proudly served his country, it seems at odds that your posts appear to be a hobby of sorts, with the desire to enflame vs. enrich any discussion. The Tea Party protest was not intended to protest everything, rather, it was a show of dissent for government spending first and foremost. By your own definition, those taking up arms against the government would be the ones guilty of treason:

Our Constitution defines treason for us very specifically as it applies to American citizens in Article III, section 3:
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted."
As for the rest of your argument, all that matters is what you can prove in court. And what I see from you is mostly innuendo and sour grapes.
I try to criticize ideas and not people. I do it pretty well, so people feel criticized when I attack their ideas. Occasionally I go a little too far, and when I do I try to dial it down a notch.
As for the Tea Party rally in DC, it may have started out as a spending protest, but I saw people carrying posters with dead babies on them and Nazi symbols and cartoons of the president. So I realized there was a lot of unfocused anger. Then when heard that Glenn Beck was claiming up to a half million marchers I looked at the official Washington fire department estimates and they pegged it at less than 10 grand. So the numbers were being inflated to make it look like there was a bigger movement afoot than was actually the case. It's lying by exaggeration and I reject it.
The people in Iran are fighting for their freedom and putting themselves in terrible danger each time they take to the streets. Any comparison of them to Tea Partiers is disrespectful to real freedom fighters.
