Your true colors are showing, for everyone to see, revile, and find disgusting. I hope you're pleased with yourself.

I'm not looking for any word, scotty boy; especially not "exempt". More people than not, don't work a 40 hour week; neither do they get overtime.

A 40 hour work week is something that was set in place, by unions for jobs, most of which no longer exist.

You're just ignorant of the facts.

In the early days of the scandal, ACORN announced that they were enlisting Henry Cisneros to help them with their internal investigation. I nearly choked on my Diet Coke. A tax-cheating, former director of Countrywide, being brought in to shore up ACORN's image. It's almost too perfect.

I haven't heard anything more from ACORN about Henry Cisneros, but it's clear that they are looking for the best help money can buy.

Scott Z The reason nobody wants to answer your questions is, the question is by itself wrong. As a free man I choose whether to work for someone who will pay what I think is fair. I choose whether to accept a job's benefit's. I choose what I will do in my job. Even your so-called robber barrons had employees that chose to work for them. With or without unions, I (we) all make choices. Some of us resent having to join unions, or pay dues for the right to hold the job of my choosing in my non-right to work state of Illinois. As a proud free man I can say nobody, especially a union makes my choices and I reserve the right to leave my job for a better one at my convenience. I also reserve the right to shop during the daytime at Walmart instead of sneaking in after the dark like union leadership. In the end, I am my own man that is beholden to nobody and do not have a need for the union or the government to give me fulfillment, sustainment, or stimulous.

ok, here's my answer to Scott's main question:

First, I believe that unions are perhaps necessary in any monopolized industry (i.e. major league baseball), if a company has no major competitors in it's industry, I believe that a union has a place for protecting workers that are skilled in their field.

On the other hand, in a free market system, where there are a number of competitors delivering basically the same goods or services, a company's competitors prevents that company from taking advantage of its workers.

Example: you are a skilled widget maker. You work for company Z, which makes a fine widget. Company Y also makes widgets. Company Z tells you that you are going to have to work a longer week, cuts your pay, or starts to take away your benefits. If you think that you are more valuable than that, you call up company Y, let them know your experience and skills. You argue that you are worth that shorter week, stable pay, or nice benefits. If they want a skilled worker, and if you really are worth those things, then they will give them to you. If company Z doesn't learn its lesson, they will lose their skilled workers, and no longer be able to make quality widgets, and go out of business. Other companies learn the lesson of company Z, and treat their workers well. That is how a free market system works. You, as a worker, have a choice as to with which companies you wish to work.

THAT is my question.

I eagerly await your response.
//

All the facs about UNIONS are nice, but they are also LAW at this point. UNIONS have grown corrupt, and at this point, they seem to only want to destroy big business, not form a symbiotic relationship. They have outlived their use, they only thing UNIONS accomplish now is that Businesses cannot fire incompetant workers.

I think the term you are looking for is "exempt", meaning we do not collect time and a half overtime.

But still, our work load is generally modeled to support a 40 hour work week. Though, of course we often do work more.
