That comment wasn't by a 'friend'. When he lost the election to Atlee and wasn't able to finish WWII, that comment was made by his WIFE CLEMENTINE, to which he replied, 'it may be very well disguised'. Get your facts right, MUTHA JONES.

Van Jones has the story wrong.

The full quote came from Churchill himself, immediately following his first post-war election defeat, in 1945.

As has been told in a few places, it arose because his wife sought to comfort him, saying that the defeat was a blessing in disguise. Winston replied, "If this is a blessing, it is certainly very well disguised."

Bill Adler included the quote in the little 1965 hardcover book he edited, “The Churchill Wit.” The quote was also referenced in Richard Nixon's memoirs from 1978.
