I Condemn the NAACP
by Marie StroughterThe National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is expected to pass a resolution condemning the “racist elements” of the Tea Party movement. The organization claims that Tea Party members have used “racial epithets,” and have engaged in “explicitly racist behavior.”
What saddens me is that this organization chooses to focus on imaginary slights, while real threats to this country exist in the form of New Black Panther members who have been caught on tape intimidating voters with billy clubs. Rather than condemning this behavior, it is largely ignored by the NAACP and a presidential administration that continues to refuse to prosecute such.
The Tea Party uses “racial epithets?” I soundly condemn the NAACP for failing to rebuke the New Black Panther members for inciting racial hatred (“explicitly racist behavior”) and, yes, actually using racial epithets as evidenced by the ranting of King Samir Shabazz caught on tape.
“We’re deeply concerned about elements that are trying to move the country back, trying to reverse progress that we’ve made,” said NAACP spokeswoman Leila McDowell. “We are asking that the law-abiding members of the Tea Party repudiate those racist elements . . . that are within the Tea Party movement.”
This statement reeks of the hypocrisy that has really held this country back.
It is ironic that the NAACP includes the word “advancement” in its name. I wonder what it is advancing? A political party that has kept its people dependent upon it? An ideology that in its myopic vision strains at the Biblical gnat of perceived wrongs, but swallows the proverbial camel of communal apathy?
Thus, I say to the NAACP: Instead of wasting precious time and resources on resolutions that are nothing more than thinly veiled political machinations in a climate unfavorable to you, why not resolve to really make a difference in the Black community? Resolve to address educational disparity. Resolve to make adoptions more affordable for the potential families of the millions of Black children in the foster care system. Resolve to learn your own history so you realize the political party you are cozying up to is not the party that worked to free you from slavery or the one that worked to offer you the civil rights you now enjoy. Resolve to return to the spiritual roots that taught you that taking an unborn life was wrong. Resolve to “repudiate those racist elements” in all communities, including our own! Most of all, resolve to develop the internal fortitude to call right, right and wrong, wrong!

I think the NAACP is getting more condemnation than they're giving.
This administration is enabling the NAACP and the New Black Panthers. Michelle My Bell was shown on video yesterday stirring the pot. The Obamas are showing their true colors, America.
When is the NCAAP going to condem themselves for being racist?
There isn't much to condemn.
They are an extortionist organization.
They did have a legitimate purpose, fighting for equality for blacks.
Now that those things are realized, now they fight for funding and political power.

How about before this resolution gets passed the NAACP comes up with concrete proof (like a tape of someone stating racists comments) that the TEA Party is racist. Prove it! I dare you!

While I usually support the NAACP, and while I am a liberal in the traditional not Obama-ist sense (even though saying that has gotten me in trouble in BigWorld), I can easily say that this move by the NAACP is just dumb. For one thing, civil liberaties are supposed to supercede political ideologies. By comming against the tea party they turn their back on those african american people who are for the tea party. The mission of the NAACP shouldnt be supporting the liberaties of people who happen to agree with them. Once again, thats DUMB.
Secondly, every member of the tea party i have ever talked to (more than a few as I work in local government) has had specific concerns. I may disagree with them, I may think some of them are misguided (as they would no doubt think of me) but they are specific and based in events. This is NOT the KKK.
So, have I mentioned, this is dumb.
TEA PARTY…..REQUIREMENT = OPEN TO ALL – that believe in the constitution, small government, free people and nation of all colors and backgrounds.

My letter could not begin to hold a candle to what you wrote and I think this has to be one of the best things I have ever read on any website which is saying quite a bit! Thank you for putting into words what millions of frustrated people are feeling about the political shenanigans of an organization that claims to be a voice for the oppressed and that same organizations corrupt enablers in the White House.

I heard one of the leaders of the NAACP on radio today trying to tell his lies about the congressman who claimed he was called the N word and spit at just before the HC vote. He was quickly called out and reminded that Andrew Breitbart has offered $100,000 dollars for any proof. There are pictures and videos of the alleged time it took place, and it didn't happen. They don't care, they know there members and supporters aren't looking for proof it was a lie. It's the thought that matters.

It took me one minute with Google to find this now classic example of the pseudo-intellectual accusation that everyone is prejudiced, but only Whites are racist. That is the definition!
This is asymmetric, intellectual warfare. The people who want to be good are falling for propaganda designed to control them. Summary: When a Black man fears a White man for being white, that is prejudice. When a White man fears a Black man for being black, that is Racism (requiring the intervention of the government). This is the accepted Liberal view, enforced by the government and taught at respectable universities.

I saw that. Megan Kelly is awesome. She did what the Tea Party representative should have done. All the NAACP representative said he could produce was "witnesses". I guess for them a persons word is good enough as long as that person agrees with them.

It's not the Tea Party that has a problem. Seems like this nation would take a big step forward if all the race based organizations, race based caucuses and most of all, race based preferences in our laws were to disappear. The unintended consequences from 50 years of democrat/socialist 'good intentions' is proving to be far worse than the problems they were designed to address.

Everyone hoped that Obama was going to be a post-racial President that would further unite America and lead us to brighter future. Instead he has become the most racist President that America has ever seen. Cog, the National Convention of the NAACP is meeting today. It was announced yesterday that they would adopt a resolution condemning the Tea Party. They passed the resolution today. Thus, it's a topical issue and the responses here show the conservative outrage at the double standard in not condemning many other issues facing the organization and the Black community at large.

So far, I am not enjoying "post racial" America. I left my birthplace of Detroit in 1968, because of the hostile racial atmosphere. We have all witnessed how well that all worked out for Detroit. I truly fear that if the left does not tone down the racial rhetoric, America will go the way of that once great city.
It puts all of the NAACP's eggs in one basket, to do this and be proven wrong delagitimizes the organization and signifies its' funeral.
I'm with you, Marie. I repudiate and condemn the NAACP. I worked on the voter registration drives in the early 60's (Yeah, Jesse Jackson was a lying, scheming, manipulative, SOB back then, too. I don't know why MLK tolerated him.) If I had known then what the NAACP would become, I'd have done all I could to undermine it.
Message to NAACP and Black Panthers: Don't let anyone manipulate you into voting for them based on skin color. Vote for no Terrorism, no Socialism, more jobs, lower taxes, less Govt Spending, freedom and justice for all equally. Only then will you be free!

A scrap between the Tea-Party and the NAACP is a notch or two above the birth'er and muslim debates. The media messages the best, the Republicans second best and the Democrats the worst. It's a shame that the NAACP is wasting their time with this. They could and should be concentrating on the very concerns you raised in your post.
I think also it can lead to an opportunity (say more towards an election) to classify the Tea Party as a hate group and we all know what happens to hate groups they get rounded up and put through the ringer with the IRS<and feds!
