Recent statements claiming the Tea Party movement is racist are not only destructive, they are not true. Tea Party activists are your mom or dad, your local grocer, banker, hairdresser or doctor. They are a diverse group of passionate Americans who want to ensure that our nation returns to founding principles that honor the Constitution, limit government’s role in our lives and support policies that empower free markets and free enterprise. Enough with the name-calling.

The Tea Party doesn't have to BE racist but as long as the left and enough independents THINK it is, that's all that's needed. It's a matter of PR and the RNC is not very good at that. Posting an article on the Bigs is preaching to the choir. Time to think of something else.

Considering that the NAACP is interested in advancing the interests of one group of humans, and is presumably at least indifferent to the interests of other humans, the NAACP is itself racist, both in practice and in the fundamental concept that it was founded on.
Most of the time, I don't let that bother me.

You described the Tea Party sentiment correctly Mr. Steele. There is a reason why they want to slap a label on us. That is because they can't fathom people who only want law and order, a safe country for people of all skin tones and persuasions to live in harmony. A country free from Invaders, with small efficient Government that does not intrude on our freedom to prosper. We want strong Defense, Free Enterprise, fiscal responsibility, not reckless spending for Socialized Medicine & Stimulus packages that are not accounted for, or go for Global World Order Alliances, and we want to follow The Constitution. This is foreign to them, and it is "American" to U.S.
I know the enemy and do not believe it is Michael Steele. While not the best RNC Leader there are more than likely worse. So, instead of knocking and mocking I will offer my support and appreciation for the things that have been done well. I do appreciate that Michael Steele continues to try and support the Tea Party. Mr. Steele, it isn't a question of "name-calling". It's more than that, it's the meaning attached to the "name". What they mean is we are fundamentally unjust in our beliefs, and in our practices, and we hope to be able to practice more injustice by, for instance, reducing men to chattels and disposing of them at will. Racist is actually code for "slaver" and "murderer".

If you people have an issue with Mr. Steele, this wasn't the time or place to attack him. Good statement Mr. Steele. The only thing I can say is please ramp up your efforts. As eanother usr said (not so politely) we do need a pit bull leadership right now. We need you to be out there as much as possible, openly and publicly fighting for us. I had my momentary flush of anger, like most of us in the liberty community, when I heard of the NAACP's resolution, but it was rapidly replaced with an overwhelming feeling of sadness for the rather pathetic worldview of the NAACP.
I don't think that the left realizes that the word "racist" after the last few years of shrill screeching now elicits a response from freedom-lovers somewhere between the 'giggle factor' that you'd get if you accused someone of being the adopted child of alien methane-breathers from Zorko V, and a response quite similar the one that blacks offer when non-blacks use the 'n' word. Sometimes we experience both responses at the same time. Which is a weird feeling.

Michael Steel. I hoped you have contacted Mr. Ben Jealous the CEO of the NAACP and asked him to take back his false racist resolution and then demand he and his fellow leaders resign for allowing their organization to get so out of control.
I hope you also asked him why isn't he doing what the NAACP is supposed to be doing like finding out why blacks are dropping out of school at such a high rate, why there's so many out of wedlock babies being born in the black community, why so many black families are broken, why blacks make up such a large portion of prison inmates, and why blacks are so heavily in to drugs and gang activity? These are the real problems that the NAACP should be tackling.
What part of my statement made you think I was attacking Mr. Steele? I disagree with his statement. Mr. Steele's intention may have been good, but the statement isn't. The other side has done nothing but name-calling, since as long as I can remember. I don't see them stopping anytime soon since they have nothing to offer. I am sure a man of his intelligence will glean something for him to reflect on from the freedom lovers. We have apprehension that he is the man for the moment. Also, instead of always being reactive, why aren't you "in your face" proactive with the alternatives to the progressive agenda? All I read on Lib blogs is that the Repubs have no ideas–no alternatives and nothing to offer. The Republican Party has gotten lazy, cowardly, and predictable (and hopefully, not something more sinister). Steele is a token, chosen because he is controllable.
