ObamaCare Returns: Time to Send a Clear Message to Washington
by Michael S. SteeleDisgusted by President Obama’s liberal agenda, voters in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts went to the polls and replaced Democrats with Republicans to send a message to Washington. That message is: Stop.
Stop the rampant spending that threatens to send our country spiraling toward insolvency. Stop the rapid expansion of government that continues to encroach on our essential freedoms. And most of all stop trying to shove a radical health care “reform” bill designed to fundamentally restructure the U.S. economy down our throats.
The American people have spoken. The White House hasn’t heard their message.
Now Harry Reid is promising to pass a health care bill through the Senate in sixty days. President Obama is continuing to arrogantly push this radical legislation in the hope of creating a new entitlement program that will continue to nurture America’s dependency on Big Government. When America’s leadership has become so disconnected from Americans’ interests, the American people must stand up boldly in defense of their livelihoods and their liberties.
It is more important now than ever to send a clear, unambiguous message to Washington. That is why I am asking you to sign a petition urging President Obama and his Democrat allies to start over on health insurance reform; to work hand in hand with Republican leaders to craft sensible legislation that will address the real issues that plague our health insurance system; and to listen to and enact the will of the American people.
Stand up for yourself and your country. The White House has not heard your voice. Make them hear it. Sign this petition today.

I sure wish I could take Michael Steele seriously. I can't, for any reason.
Well at least Steele had enough gut to come post here. Now he just needs to get some real "Steel" in his spine and start pushing the Republicans back to where the People respect them again.

Our farm subsidies drove their farmers out of business by dumping cheap exports on Mexico and everywhere else, so they came north where the farming is plentiful. And don't look now, but those giant agribusiness firms have well-placed lobbyists to make the feds turn a blind eye to their hiring of those illegal immigrants, until an immigrant becomes a problem. Then they'll send their INS boys in to remove the immigrant troublemaker.

It could also be used to detect illegal aliens voting in our elections as well. I signed the petition. Why? Well I suppose it never hurts to try again, provide just one more opportunity for Mr. Steele to grow a pair and act like a leader. After all he is one of the tools we currently have to work with, but I did send him an email, and this is what I said:

I have signed your petition. However this is the last time I will support you and the GOP. If you do not stand up, speak up, and act like a true conservative leader, you will forever lose my support and therefore my vote. You say that you hear what the people are saying, now act on it! No one is buying that the Republicans being the party of "No" is a bad thing. In fact, I think you will find that most of the poll numbers in favor of the GOP suggests that we think this is a good thing.
Also, no one is buying that the Republicans haven't any of their own ideas. We know you have presented many good ideas for both health care reform and getting the economy working again. We appreciate it.
Our biggest fear is that you are doing what every politicians seems to do these days–tell us one thing and do another. If you didn't get it by now–most Americans do not TRUST their government to do the right thing.

There's been some frustration in the republican party – understandly so. However, when Michael Steele came on board to head the republican party, he had a TALL order to fill among the growing disenchanted. I would hope the party would return to their core conservative values and stop being so quick to tear Mr. Steele down. He's been right on with the approach of humbly acknowledging where the party has gone astray, and has been working to listen and correct the mistakes of the past. I support and applaud your efforts Mr. Steele! Will conservatives please give him a chance, and support?! Conservatives should work together where there is common ground and build up, not tear down. We will need every last person standing to defeat the progressive machine for the long haul ahead.

It's like this Mr. Steele – We have no faith that our voices will be heard. We know that we were too quite for too long. We were busy with work, family, life, trying to be good citizens. Paying our taxes.
-But we were lied to. Our hard earned money was wasted. We tried to speak and were ignored. We gathered together signs in hands and were belittled. We only grew in strength and determination. We came from every state in the country to our nations capitol to be heard. My wife and I traveled 2,300 miles to be there, to make a difference. Each of us who were fortunate enough to be able to go represented hundreds of others who were there in spirit. We watched our President fly away overhead in a helicopter. We were ostracized.
-We have lost count of letters, petitions, phone calls and emails. We came in force to town hall meetings and were disparaged. Are we to believe that yet one more petition is going to make a difference?
-We are good people, good Americans. We come from good stock. We live in a good country. We want to keep it that way for our children. There is great anger simmering across our land and we will be heard on Nov. 2nd.
We want LEADERS who will stand by convictions, stand up for our constitution, and not be afraid to fight for a country they love.

When we write directly to someone, whether it is Steele or anyone else, and attack with a vengence, you may want to consider that it could very easily back-fire – I'm so tired of hearing about how the TPM is comprised of and representative of an angry and irrational group of fringe wierdos. Valid and significant anger is understandable, however to be heard in a discussion requires a bit more decorum. It doesn't do us any favors to be labeled, I'd hope we could be revered for what we truly are passionately putting our time and energy into day after day.
You're right, Mr. Steele, the people have spoken. But you clearly haven't gotten the message, either. We'll believe Republicans are genuinely concerned about this country when they don't attend the Blair House healthcare media circus. That you wouldn't even think about defying Obama and the Dems on this issue shows your party is chock full of accomodationists like McCain and Graham and McConnel. You wouldn't give Scott Brown the time of day; but you can't throw money fast enough at the entrenched old-timers who betrayed us. Now you come crawling here spouting Gospel, and expect us to buy it?

You should work on those diplomacy skills. You don't insult people you are trying to obtain help from. I have sent a few unanswered letters to RNC Headquarters myself. Most of those letters get screened by staff and Mr. Steele never even sees them. To hold him personally responsible for this is not exactly on the up and up. That is why I have posted a respectful and constructive reply to him here. You, evidently, thought it prudent to squander your one opportunity to get your message directly to him by penning your "kiss my butt" rant. Smooth!

Blind Hatred? I would not say that. I would refer to it more as "a parent who is looking for his prodigal son to come home and repent". The GOP has cast too big of a tent and, therefore, had lost it's way. I don't think it is too late for it to recover. It will just take time for it to refocus it's on it's strengths (conservatism) and cast out it's weakness (liberal infiltrators).
