Exclusive Book Excerpt: Right Now. A Twelve-Step Program to Defeating the Obama Agenda
by Michael S. SteeleWithin our own party, we need to make it clear that from now on there will be a price to pay for abandoning conservative principles. The grassroots – activists from tea parties to town halls – have sent a message: no more ‘fake-it-until-you-make-it’ conservatives. The days of merely espousing conservative principles and then, once elected, governing or legislating without principle, are over.

At least one senator has already got this message – Arlen Specter. In early 2009, after years of distressing votes for big government, Specter’s vote for the stimulus bill provoked an outcry among Pennsylvania’s Republican grassroots. Having barely survived a 2004 primary challenge from principled conservative Pat Toomey, Specter asked me what he could do to mend fences with conservatives. I said he needed to stand with us against card check (which abolishes the secret ballot on forming unions) and against the cap-and-trade carbon cutting scheme.
He agreed, publicly declaring himself against those proposals – and soon after, he abandoned the party and became a Democrat.
All the talk about pushing Specter out of the party, or making it hard for him to stay, was just bunk. For him, the politics of reelection outweighed taking any principled position on the issues.
Since then he has switched his position on card check, and I won’t be surprised if he switches on cap-and-trade. He exposed himself as a political opportunist, and we don’t need political opportunists in our party. If he survives his next primary, my goal will be to retire him.
More from the book:
Don’t believe the pundits’ common refrain that the Republican Party has moved too far to the right. In reality, the problem is that we’ve been moving to the left.
The disparity between our rhetoric and our action grew until our credibility snapped. It wasn’t the fault of our ideals. It was the failure of our leaders to live up to them.
Republicans stopped putting up a fight. Not all of us gave up the fight and not all the time. But many, especially among our leaders, have in recent years allowed our principles to be buried under layers of compromise or outright abandonment in the name of power and acceptance and going along to get along.”
Here’s why we’ve fallen out of touch with typical Americans: we’ve acquiesced to big government, big spending, and increased federal control that diminishes the authority of families and the rights of individuals.
Over time, many of our party’s leaders abandoned conservative principles in a misguided effort to maintain and expand their political influence. We became in many ways just another party of big government. In short, we behaved like Democrats
Republicans gave in to big government, and we paid the price. The road forward is clear: we need to reclaim conservative values.
We must explain our principles clearly and forcefully, directing our appeal to the American people as a whole—not to balkanized racial groups and competing special interests.

Hey Michael,
How about sending money to Scott Brown so that he can win Ted Kennedys old seat? How about ending that 60 Democrat (Communist) majority? You are not a conservative and you keep showing your true colors everyday! We need a new RNC Chairman, a TRUE conservative.
Nice talk. Unfortunately the RNC actions (Dede & Brown) don't support the talk. Doesn't that make Mr Steele the same as Senator Spectacle?
Fantastic. Now let's see the follow-through.
Is this BS (political expediency) or epiphany? hmmm NY23 !! wasn't very long ago at all and this book wasn't written last night.
I would consider voting for the GOP only, if they leave the moral values out of politics. Why should our government regulate abortions, marriages, and substances?
Freedom begins at home!
I'm heartened to read words like this from Steele, and he sounds like he gets it. My fear is that this is all an act to win elections, and once the Republicans are in power again, they'll just continue on where the Democrats left off.
I can not respect Michael Steele's political acumen. He's smart, but he plays too many sides. For example, he tacitly supported the Scozzafava nomination. Steele supports conservative views (to save his skin). He also supports less conservative views – like a RINO. In this post, Michael is correct about Republicans: They have lost their conservative roots. If Mr. Steele will stick to conservatism – stand up for them, uncomprimisingly – then I'd be more open to respecting his politics. Generally, if Republicans can't muster standing up for conservative values then they will lose again in 2010 and 2012. I'm not voting Republican – I'm voting Conservative. It is the right thing to do.
We've been had too often by a wolf in sheeps clothing. Sure, liberalsim is a scourge on our society but true conservatism has not been practiced in this country for EONS. We are at a crossroads in this country for both parties and in my opinion one will have to go the way of the Whig Party.
Michael,
You are talking the talk. I will allow you the opportunity to walk the walk. You now need to raise the money to get good people elected. "Thebritisharecoming" is right. Get money and support to Scott Brown. Don't follow the normal template and send 'experts' that will use up the campaign money and get the complete message directly to the voters. Win or lose, your effective support of Scott Brown will go a long way to demonstrate you and the GOP leadership is willing to walk the walk.
Also in the sentence "have sent a message: now more ‘fake-it-until-you-make-it’ conservatives"… I believe you meant "no" instead of "now"
Great to hear this kind of stuff from the Head of the Elephant, Mr. Steele. Let's hope the GOP listens to your urgings to tack starboard. The winds of the American Voters would certainly accomodate it!

I generally agree that the government shouldn't regulate private behavior unless it is infringing on the rights of others. However, I used to belong to the Libertarian Party for some of the reasons you cite, and you really are just throwing your vote away. The best way to support libertarian ideals is to support libertarians during the GOP primary.
There are no libertarians in the Democrat Party, and in fact is the polar opposite of the Democrat's Statist agenda, so the GOP is your only real shot to affect change. Joining a third party is just building a room to scream in.
I am a independent conservative who has no one to support at the moment because no one and I mean no one has stepped forward and said I will lead conservativly and has by word and action..
So far it is not the republican party.
Mr. Steele you cannot send the party to the ladies room to put on fresh makeup and call it new and improved.
Gingrich fed us that one already.
I notice plenty of hotheaded comments about Mr. Steele's perceived lack of conservatism in the past. However, at the very heart of conservatism is a theory of devolution. Mr. Steele's decision to support the candidacy of Ms. Scozafava, I believe, is reflective of this, as we would no more like a federal government interfering with states' rights as we would like the head of a national party interfering with the decision of a local chapter.
I am sure Mr. Steele would have been just as supportive (probably more so) of Mr. Hoffman had the local chapter nominated him.
http://www.IsThisTheChangeWeNeed.com/webblog
How about stepping down and letting some real conservatives fix all the RINO problems within the GOP including yourself? I had not problem with you as a "talking head" but your leadership at the GOP has been a disaster.
It's about time Mr. Steele started, at least, talking the talk. Now let's see him walk the walk. Until I start seeing RINO's being booted from the Party, it's all just chin music to me. There IS a price to be paid for the betrayal of these RINO's. Real conservatives within (and outside of) the GOP are going to make sure you pay up. The conservative train is leaving the station. You can either jump on board or go stand in the bread line.
We are fed up with being dragged to the left year after year by these so called "moderates". You'd better get a handle on your Party, Mr. Chairman, while you still have a Party to chair.
What Republicans need to do is to stop being just watered down democrats and start standing for Americanism. Expose the DFL party for it's socialist-communist orgins. The DFL party platform is identical with the U.S.S.R. Const. (see Ch. 10), the official program of the communist party USA , and has the full approval and blessing of these socialist-communist organizations. Our access to Soviet archives has born out these connections. "Socialism" is not "Americanism". Dependancy breeds servitude, not fredom. This country was founded to provide a free existance in a "state of nature" to those who seek it. Those that need to be "taken care of" and "provided for" need to find a country that has a "King". We got rid of him over 200 yrs. ago. People need to be encouraged to assume responibilities for themselves. That is the only way to be free of govt.
It may have been a Freudian slip of the tounge, it's hard for a RINO to morph into a conservative.
i'll believe it when i see it. the RNC won't get a dime of my money again until i see some real action.
All RINOS have got to go ! The politics of the past has led us down a path of destruction of our way of life and our country itself. If you are NOT a true conservative you will not get my vote nor my support !
REFOUNDERS unite!
Mr. Steele, so this is what you have been doing with your time? Oh, that and bashing Rush Limbaugh, et al, for being conservative. Until you clean house at the upper ranks, I will not trust you. And I won't pay a single penny to learn about your twelve-step program.
Is there not ONE Republican out there that is NOT afraid of the Democrats??? My God, you people need to grow a spine!! There had better emerge, ONE STRONG, PASSIONATE, CONSERVATIVE, or the GOP will lose what is left of their base!! There has to be ONE person (Palin?) who has the guts, to SAY and MEAN what the American people believe!!
I hope he gets it, however, he cannot run from his past.
If NY-23 wants to put Dede up as its candidate – so be it. But, that doesn't mean RNC has to throw a million dollars to her campaign. And what do they send to Scott Brown? Hmmmm.
While I haven't seen much yet from Mr. Steele, I don't yet blame him. NY23 was a local choice, which I suppose he could have influenced if he were properly on top of details, but he probably didn't realize he has the mandate and the responsibility to LEAD. The prior leader was worse.
Mr. Steele does need to start breaking heads to fix this party. If he can't he should go – but only once we've found someone who will.
Mr Steele
Amongst all them RINOs, you must be the loneliest "conservative". Write a book to stoke the flames of contention throughout conservative and libertarian movements BUT it would be better to direct all that information in your book to the Senate and House and the RNC. Tell them this is the PLAN to protect the American people from what is happening now. Otherwise, they (RNC, Senate and House) will just say "it's just another book".
I do applaud your effort to address the issue.
Good Luck with your book tour.
What is "Left"? What is "Right"? You need to kick out all the CFR filth that are promoting globalism – usually under the guise of "free trade." You need to raise tariffs, stop immigration, and put America – NOT ISRAEL – First.
Moral values are at the very core of the Constitution and the GOP platform. Do us all a favor and stay with your lefty Democrat friends. We neither need nor want you or your vote.
"Why should our government regulate abortions, marriages, and substances? "
Why, oh why, should we subsidize infanticide and substance abuse? That is the epitome of insanity. Marriage between a man and a woman SHOULD be subsidized, as it contributes patriotic new citizens with a vested interest in their country to our society. Homosexuals contribute nothing to society in this regard. Based on nothing more than that alone, they should be penalized, not subsidized.
Don't come here and parade your "moral indignation" in our faces. It's patently obvious to all that you have no moral compass. You are a socialist Democrat through and through, so crawl back to them and be happy while you can. An unpleasant change of your political fortunes is on the way, and it will arrive in November 2010.
Put your money where your mouth is Mr. Steele, send money to Scott Brown to stop this health care scam. The silence is deafening.
I am either LMAO or crying over the ashes of the constitution, because this is so outrageous .. Republicans/democrats Believe in freedom and the republic?.. Not one of you who believes in the parties can say you believe in freedom or this grand republic. Our offices and tax dollars go to the highest bidder and you the party members rally around so egotistical monarch who promises you candy, but steals your freedom to reward their new found friends. These people laugh at you and still you vote for them. It is our electoral process that allowed these government power grabbers to take our country and yet you don’t seek to change the system you simply say trust the republicans.
not to mention sending out all the most famous party croneys for a media blitz on the issue- showing very poor judgement – to advertise that they are PARTY FIRST and not COUNTRY FIRST. very poor judgement indeed.
A fine sentiment well stated. Would it not be better to have 50 real choices of how to live your life than be pinned under the thumb of one giant oppressive Federal Government forever? It's high time the States weened themselves of their dependency and took back those Rights which they previously ceded out of greed.
We’ll see Mr. Steele! I get a call, or letter a week for solicitation of funds from the RNC. Save the stamp! Until I see real conservatism in the Republican ranks my money will stay in my pocket. I look forward to a vigorous primary season with real conservative candidates. Get right, or get gone! Support Scott Brown in Mass!
This is my concern as well. The GOP needs to give us all a sign of good faith. Something tangible and not just chin music. Unfortunately, the only way they can do that is if we give them the opportunity. I truly believe that if they screw their base one more time, it's over for them for good. I hope someone is listening and taking this to heart.
I want proof of change!!! CHANGE the electoral laws that spit on us serfs of this country. Eliminate gerrymandering. Open your primaries. Don’t steal tax dollars to feed your party. Eliminate party affiliation off voter registration and ballot. Do real debates using Intense debate so we can challenge these politicians.
Look at how many current officials are members of CFR. They choose the Democrat and the Republican so either way they win.
Look at how many kiss the feet of Israel and AIPAC. These people don't have US interests in mind. Americans are last on their list.
cyclonaut, __i'm with you on that, have not sent a dime in years, I will send my money to locals though, and im not easy please!! for the love of god, where are the people with a set? until I see someone with gut's, the rnc won't see a plum dime from me. just wishin I think. good luck all
We need a leader.
I agree, the guy is useless.I am hoping Sarah Palin replaces him,she can raise money fire up the base and hopefully she will not put herself on the ticket.I love her but she cannot win.
I'm not even aware who Scott Brown is, but what you and other posters say here speak volumes. Sounds like the same old story.
The closest thing to a conservative I've seen is Ron Paul and look how the party treats him!
You know what Michael Steele? You are nothing but a despicable fraud and a phony of a human being! You and the Republican Party! With the Republican Party forfeiting the U.S. Constitution away as if it is toilet tissue for some years now it is going to take a lot more than a stupid twelve step program coming from you! Just how stupid to you think we are? Listen! And listen good Mr. Steele! If you want any sense of respect from citizens of America and if you want people to believe in the things you say then YOU MUST EXPOSE WHO THE PERSON OR PERSONS ARE THAT HAVE CONTROL OVER AMERICA'S "MAIN STREAM MEDIA" because has of now there is no "free press" in America, only a rigged propaganda machine. How does we know that? We know that now because of the "unofficial" CODE OF SILENCE that is in play about Barack Obama's "ILLEGALITY" to be president! I bet you know it too and that make's you Mr. Michael Steele COMPLICIT IN THE AMERICAN CRIME OF THE CENTURY! Another untold piece of fact from the MSM. Because of Barack Obama's father, Obama was never eligible to run for the Office of the President in the first place and there he is sitting in the People's White House making illegal laws that will someday have to be undone because of this childish un-Constitutional nonsense being perpetrated upon the American people by a culture os very sick politicians who swear oath to serve and uphold the U.S. Constitution, not bastardize it!
PLEASE — Go rally voters to elect Scott Brown as the next Massachusetts Senator instead of another Libtard – already with a full set of questionable baggage . .then lets talk about the horizon.
If you want to impress me, Mr. Steele, come down to Florida and throw the full support of the RNC behind Marco Rubio instead of Charlie Crist. Support Paula Dockery's run for Governor. Then go to Nevada and support a solid Conservative GOP candidate to "retire" Harry Reid. In California, supporting Chuck DeVore instead of Carly Fiorina would go a long way to "walking the walk". Our message to the RNC is clear: Support RINOs, no $$. Support true Conservatives, and we'll think about it.
"should we subsidize infanticide and substance abuse?"
—
lol, is this the only alternative? how about the government should stay the f**k away from people's moral beliefs?
I guess none of the steps involve getting Scott Brown elected. Where's the GOP in this election?
I bash Rush for NOT being conservative (enough). If "conservative" means parroting some globalist Utopian bilge about "Free Trade" then I am not a conservative. How can you be a conservative and not put the US first? How can you be a conservative and sacrifice this country for some Zionist cult quackery in the Middle East? How can you be a conservative and side with a country that killed 34 Americans on the USS Liberty, stole nuclear material from us, sold our missile technology to China, etc….?
There are socialists who put America First who I would rather associate with than the traitorous neocons like Rush.
And things like this are why you make such a wonderful socialist. You have no understanding of the Constitution or the intent of it's creators. Here's an alternative for you: Leave the country. You'd be doing us all a favor.
Then people like you should not say that they seek freedom- not in a general sense. Maybe, you can say that you want "economic freedom", or simply low taxes. But that's all.
Mr. Steele, I do NOT believe you. You are a Beltway, country club Republican. You talk conservatism just to garner votes for November 2010. When (if) the Republican Party ever regains power we will see that you and all Republican Party leaders are nothing but unprincipled, Gingrich-like politicians. You believe in nothing except gaining power and priviledge for yourself. I dare you, Mr. Steel, name a true conservative leader in the Republican Party. There are none.
I'm curious, how do you regard the fact that the founders grew Hemp, used it regularly, and espoused it's virtues? Do you think we should continue to ban the production of industrial hemp in this country?
Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want. That would be anarchy. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn you were one of those too.
Why do you wish somebody to govern over your religion? I grew up a Protestant and absolutely love that Martin Luther wanted religion to be a private matter.
Also: "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
Step One for the GOP…GROW A SET!
Step Two, PURGE THE RINOs.
Step Three, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK

What is freedom to you?
To me, freedom is exactly the ability to do whatever you want. But if your actions affect other people, naturally you should expect consequences.
Have not sent them a dime in three years. Too many RINOs/CINOs

It is hard to stay away from people's moral beliefs … I absolutely agree that whatever people do in their own bedrooms is their own business, and I uphold their right to do so, BUT the minute they try to cram their beliefs down OUR throats with teaching our kids their lifestyle in our public schools and subjecting us to their behaviors in public, THAT infringes on my rights! The minute my hard-earned dollars go to kill babies when I VALUE LIFE AND BELIEVE THAT CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES … people need to kill their own babies with their own money … not mine! They need to teach their kids their own perverted beliefs under their own roofs … STAY OUT OF OUR CLASSROOMS!
I agree. Freedom is a two-way street.
In all honesty, Michael, when I read what you say here, none of it chords with my mind or heart. I think 12 years of neo–con RNC/GOP has killed the Republican party. You have to figure out some way of reaching the Tea Party, which WAS your base. It probably has something to do with truth, honesty, morality, and other attributes that do not have much backing on the Beltway. We will give the RNC/GOP a chance in 2010 because we need to stop Obama. Once that is accomplished we will start litmus testing all of the RINOS and very seriously consider a third party . Tick, Tick, Tick……the GOP/RNC neo-con clock is running out.
LOL is this just a way to sell your book? I have no respect for my former party. If you ask me you guys pissed away all my respect some time ago.
Someone on IMDb Politics board siad the TRUTH OF THE DAY.
"Democrats want to use government to push their economic agenda, while Republicans want to use government to push their social agenda. "
Amen!
Crawl back under your rock. You're out of your league here.
ah.. emotional degredation in response to facts…. who's the liberal?
With every post, you reveal yourself to be more and more benighted. Now you have stooped to the level of putting words in my mouth.
The Constitution recognizes our Freedom of Religion. That is profoundly different from Freedom FROM Religion (and citizens are certainly free to pursue that course as well). No one is \”governing\” anyone's religion, and I certainly never advocated that.
You are obviously out of your depth here. you should stick to things you know
You must first present a \”fact\”, not your liberal idea of one.
Sarah Palin for RNC chair, or is she too conservative, or too female?
Brian F agree with you. Mr Steele we're mad as hell out here – if you haven't gathered that already. You're a gentleman with impeccable manners, very admirable but we need tough. You were snippy with one of those TV lefties recently – keep it up – let them know we're no walkovers. More of the Joe Wilson – "you lie" stuff. He took hell from the leftie msm but who cares – he spoke the TRUTH and that's what matters. I'm layed off as are many of my neighbors – it's not easy out here, and with that marxist in the WH aiming to bring us down, it's going to get worse. I don't mind that so long as we're all on the right page. KEEP THE CONSTITUTION AS YOUR MISSION STATEMENT!!! DeMint is in the ring – support him – and all our other good guys who get it. Get the RINO's in line or we will very soon. We don't have lobbyists, no big bucks, you're all we have, remember that., we're depending on you all. Good luck with your book and I wish you well. God bless, I'm praying for you all. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.
Call the RNC and tell them we want Scott Brown to get money from the RNC to end the 60 seat majority held by the countrys destroyers. 1-800-445-5768.
here's the cliff notes version to get you started

if you can stomach the truth in greater length – try 5000 YEAR LEAP
I don't accept web links and book reading tips from people who have not demonstrated basic common sense. If you can't express your ideas in your own words, you are wasting your time and mine.
And, FYI, I own a copy of the 5000 year leap, Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny and many other conservative and Constitutional materials. Perhaps you should read the Federalist Papers. You might discover that the Founders were not in harmonious agreement as you insinuate by you're awkward attempt at an attack on me.
oh i have – and if you have read your copies then we have a great example of human diversity here. Your argument in my eyes does not represent those concepts at all. Your argument says federal government should control somebody – and it will be decided by pure democracy. That is nothing close to what I have absorbed from those works. – I am not surprised, I know full well that they were not in agreement. Apparently just like you and I will not. btw – my passion and resolution to the mess we are in is the Constitution.. party, name, face, gender, means absolutely nothing. And I think if not for your inaccurate rants – we would be on the same side.
All that Steele is showing is that he knows what to say when contributions are down.
You are babbling again. You're yelling at the Feds to change a State electoral process. It doesn't work that way. If you want open primaries, move to a State that has them or get your State to change it's election laws.
What you are in fact advocating is MORE control by the Federal Government. Explain to us how that is Conservative in nature, or even Constitutional.
You've also got the cart before the horse on change, as well. You have to vote someone the power to make the change you want. Change, hopefully, will come about as a result of that – not the other way around.
"Jesus! This is like playing cards with my sister's kids"
line from the movie "Tombstone"
Herein lies the problem…this RNC leadership which is the problem contending that they have a solution. The answer is to completely reform the leadership with those actually walk the walk rather than simply talk the talk. Mr. Steele, with all due respect your time is over. Do the honorable thing and step aside making room for those who actually are conservative rather than act as such out of expediency.
oh Jackenhoff, you don't want anything to do with Ron Paul. I heard a rumor that he once passed a (GASP!) Jew on the street without spitting in his face. we can't have any of that sort of anti-American, pro-Zionist crap around here.
go away, troll.
or maybe the Nat'l RNC could have told the locals that Scozzafava was unacceptable and would not provide any support for her campaign? not 'interfere', but not endorse or enable her election? that would have been far more preferable to what they did.
https://www.icontribute.us/scottbrown Lets see you guys 'walk the walk"
whew! you had me worried for a second there. i thought you might actually post on a thread without beating your one-note drum of the evil JEWS/ISRAEL!!!!!
trollin, trollin, trollin, keep them n a z i s trollin…
Mr. Steele, You're a nice guy from appearances. You know what they say about nice guys?
Forget your twelve steps and replace them with this mantra: Dede, Dede, Dede, Dede.
Repeat until you get a clue.
Then say Arlen and repeat some more.
L4S.. you are a typical republican.. and thank you for your response. the governments parties have control from dog catcher to president.. gerrymandering is state control and can be fixed by the state and by the parties since they installed them. Since you belong to a party then you are responsible for theft of freedom and I want it back. WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY and I will gladly use you to prove to the whole country that parties are full of hate.
I'm sorry, but you lost me when you agreed in an interview that the RNC looks like a KKK rally.
but yet you argue that there must be federal influence on morality.
Mr. Steel, if you truly want to revive the Rebublican Party I suggest you set about showing Americans with action and not rhetoric.
I
Telling that you are so scared of putting America first that you try to suppress any discussion of it.
Please! You're telling me that the progressive socialist Democrats DON'T have a social agenda they're pushing!?! What to you call the New Deal?
You need to face the fact that there is a moral civil war raging in this country right this very second. You and I appear to be on opposite sides of it.
I just contributed to Scott Brown. I gave $1 for every ounce of Scotch Ted Kennedy consumed during an average work day (my estimate) 35 sound about right? That may be too low.
Amnesty? Both parties refused to control the borders and both parties gave Amnesty once before.
When the law is not enforced there is no law, when there is no law there is no republic. When you reward those who willfully break our laws then you punish all who obey all laws. How many Americans must be destroyed and forced to sacrifice their lives, homes, families, businesses, jobs, and way of life to placate this elitist folly. The working class people will pay dearly for this misguided and criminal compassion. Where is the compassion for the men women of America who obey the laws.
Also with returning veterans and all those veterans who are or about to face unemployment. This country should be out rage by any talk of amnesty because it clearly says the parties prefer to protect their power then protect American veterans from un lawful acts.
How can a republican call himself a conservative when they use the POWER and Wealth of government to maintain their power. They used it to silence the people. In my book that is socialism. I know your excuse 2 out 3 ain’t bad or something to that nature.
Let us not forget their fear tactic, help us or BO will put us in chains. Sorry I am fitted with chains you put on and I and millions like me will no longer accept choosing between the price of that chain. So I suggest you join us and fix the system or it your fault you don’t like the color of your chains.
Good luck Mr Steele, but i can never truly support a party that want big government in social issues – and if you truly want to support marriage, make it open to anyone of any sex.
The American people believe in redemption and second chances, which is good, but not when it is given to a politician. It is part of the original philosophy of America is to elect people who would fix some need and then go back to society and live under the rules that they created. The term re-elect spits in the face of that principle.
The old saying excuses are like axxholes everyone has one, well every politician has an excuse for failure.
Most states are fire at will, which translates your boss can fire you for good reason, bad reason, or no reason at all, and it is time to fire them all, so they can live under the rules they created. It is our duty to fire these politicians, so others can fix the problems that political greed has created.
Blah, blah, blah. I want, I want, I want. If you want it, take it. Just stop babbling nonsense. And yes, I AM a Republican. Proud of it, too. I'm not perfect and neither are you. I'm just a little (OK, a LOT) smarter than you. There are others who are smarter than me. The difference is, I don't get my panties in a knot about it like you do. You'll figure this stuff out eventually if you live long enough. Another 50 years might do it.
Michael, put your money where your mouth is. Send a significant contribution to Scott Brown.
http://www.brownforussenate.com/
There are few things more sacred to a republic than representation. The one man one vote and all it’s citizens are represented equally promise. Why isn’t voter fraud hounded out of existence? Voter fraud is a direct assault on our republic, it can kill a nation. There is nothing more fraudulent than gerrymandering and it’s creation of an artificial majority based on party affiliation not representation to silence the dissention of we the people. It is one of the reason our congress does not listen to we the people. Gerrymandering is a creation of the government parties to protect their power and to turn representation into re-election.. The parties can not speak of freedom until districts are based on representation not party affiliation.
Read my post again. Of course, Dems want to push a social agenda- just as Reps want to push an economic agenda. My statement addressed the issue of which party wants to abuse the government for their agenda.
That decision should rightfully belong to the States. The Constitution does not provide the Federal Government the authority to make that call. I'm not a Constitutional lawyer, but they get it wrong most of the time anyway. It seems to be plain enough to me, and am I not who it was created for in the first place?
This is the problem with the Republican mindset: It is in opposition to the Democrat mindset. What it should be is a pre FDR mindset of Govt does some things well, everything else should go away. I'm looking for the politician to stand up and say "the only thing I'm going to do for the first 2 years is put poison pills into bills, or repeal laws by the same methods others use to sneak new reguations into bills" and a Presidential candidate that says "if your job is not listed in the Constitution you need to update the resume'"
at this point i would vote for mother goose, as long as she was republican or anything other than bull sh*t demecrap.
Michael, stop sending me envelopes for contributions. I don't trust ANYONE in D.C. and the Republican Party under W. Bush confirmed that NOBODY in D.C. is to be trusted. It's not Hollywood, and it's not Monopoly money. You should take your own advice – for starters why don't you and Sen. Jim DeMint hold a press conference to expose Erroll Southers union ties and the Democrat circumvention of debate for his confirmation TODAY before it's too late?…unless of course your book peddling is more important.
DID YOU BY ANY CHANCE vote FOR OBUMMER? Becuase your points for not voting for the GOP are precisely the premises offered by the New (improved) socialist Democratic party. They have now enforced ALL of your "conditions": "government regulate abortions, marriages, and substances".
Maybe he's just working on his early retirement program…..sell a book, make small bundle and get the heck out of dodge. Mr Steele, put your money where your mouth is. Why is that these words contradict what the party is doing? Why is the official republican party supporting a big spender in the Indiana 9th district where I live? Get on with it, or get the heck out of the way so we can get our country back.
I keep remembering those nauseatingly, condescending questionaires preceeding your request for donations ASAP so we can fight the liberal Demoncrats. One thing I don't understand, why does the RNC allow Repubs to be held to such different standards than Dems. They get away with "murder" just by saying "I misspoke", tax cheats hold chairmanships that tell the rest of America to pay their taxes. Chris Dodd gets a wonderful mortgage as a "friend of Angelo", I wish he'd introduce us to "Angelo". Pelosi has steered untold funds to their family enterprises and I could go on, but I must'nt leave out Barney Frank, who has collapsed our mortgage industry and is starting all over again. Look out for more TARP funds in the future….and who gets to pay??? We do…Mr. Steele, those condescending questionaires are not the answer to our problems, it's Republicans who will not fight for us….which leads us all to believe that the Democrats have a damning dossier on each and every one of them…with photographs!!!!
I wish America gave M. Steel ALL THE BREAKS and free passes they have granted The Annointed Obama just for being a "historical" black man , etc.etc. OR is M. Steel NOT BLACK ENOUGH for voters just because HE IS a conservative ?
