Exclusive: ACORN Illegally Operating in Maryland
by Mike RomanLast week, we saw some pretty disturbing activities revealed in the undercover footage from ACORN Housing’s Baltimore office. By any measure of conduct, the actions of ACORN’s employees should never have happened. It turns out the actions shouldn’t have happened for another, very simple, reason: ACORN can’t legally operate in the state of Maryland.
According to the following documents, ACORN, Inc.–the parent organization of all things ACORN–forfeited its corporate charter in Maryland in 2006. ACORN Housing forfeited its corporate charter in 2008. Any ACORN office in the state of Maryland is potentially operating illegally.
The Maryland Attorney General has made noise about prosecuting the intrepid journalists who undercovered the misdeeds of ACORN employees. Perhaps he should focus instead on how ACORN was able to operate without a license in his state.

Newswatch: the Dallas Morning News carried the Senate vote on about page 9 in the main section.
(I only bought it to pack some glassware, so I can't be 100% accurate. We stopped taking it years ago.)

I really don't think this makes much of a difference. An illegal money laundering operation that helps the democrats is not going to get investigated. Especially when the CIC is a community organizer with strong ties to ACORN.
Sounds like to me that someone in Maryland is getting a hefty check from ACORN on a regular basis to "ignore" this illegal act. More corruption in MD.

Beck played audio this morning from The James & Hannah Show in San Bernadino, which went over just as well as everywhere else. Plus, the ACORN rep tells them about shooting her husband and brags about all the local and national political figures that help out ACORN.
James and Hannah, you are my heroes! I have known about the corruption of ACORN for YEARS, and have been so frustrated that they continue to receive federal dollars. God bless both of you for your great contribution to the Republic. And Hannah, my children are homeschoolers too, and I only hope they have the courage that you have.

The professionalism and invetigative nature of this story has removed all doubts that the blowhards at NYT, NBC, CBS, ABC are really junior school cub reporters, if that. They are a joke. I don't know how they can look in the mirror and still convince themselves that they are professional reporters. They are stooges, shills, puppets … jokes. I am sure that there are a couple of them that are closet Americans … but I guess job security is more important than integrity. A shame.
FWIW, these sorts of charter problems are very common with nonprofits and extremely quick and easy to fix. The lack of authority between charter revocation (usually due to not filing some simple paper) and the reinstatement raises some questions, but not really criminality questions.
Someone could challenge, I suppose, the expenditure of federal grants without proper authority in Maryland.
This type of problem is so common, I would be really surprised if Maryland is the only state in which ACORN is not properly currently registered.

Check out the date at the bottom of each letter. He is certifying that they are not in compliance today and asserting that they have not been allowed to practice in Maryland in several years.

Beck had audio this morning of ACORN worker Tresa who says she used run a brothel, her boss is a pole dancer and she meets every day with congressmen and senators and proceeded to list a bunch of Dems, including Boxer. The worker Tresa, says she went to a couple of shelters and told folks that her husband abused her, then one day she shot and killed him, but she says he wasn't abusing her at the time but she shot him anyway.
I believe that the laundering is going to flow right to the DNC and the White house much like Watergate did. There will have to be an invesgitation by the feds under the rico law.
When you order a document from the state they always date it on the date it is reproduced. The standing as of that date is what is important. So as of November 2006 they lost their good standing and as of Sept 15th, that status has not changed. So, who knows where this will lead, but I am sure this will not turn out well for Acorn.

When was the Baltimore video made? I sense that there is a LOT of content we have yet to see, and it takes time to accumulate stuff this good. Is it possible the Baltimore visit occurred before ACORN lost its MD license? Like most criminal enterprises like this, there are likely some parts of this 'business' that are legitimate, or at least staffed out front by well-meaning employees who think they work for a legitimate business. That is how the enterprise keeps its cover. Too bad for the few (wherever they are) who really are helping their neighbors. Shame on the rest– put 'em all in prison. They can share cells with the soon to be former lawmakers who enabled them.

There should be some tax issues for ACORN now. If they are not in good standing, how are they reporting income to the state. Hmmm, I think ACORN should try to do a little housekeeping before they start pointing fingers and threatening lawsuits. I also heard that the tapingthat was done is probably not in violation of state law because it generally does not include video, only phone conversations. This was not a phone conversation. ACORN did call Hannah on the phone, but she did not record it.

See below the list of Senators who “didn’t vote” against ACORN funding bill yesterday. I think it’s irresponsible on their part to not stand up for their constituents and our tax dollars at this outrage.
And where were these guys (all of Congress) in rooting this out before a couple of “kids” had to go do their jobs for them. I find is hard to believe that with all these peoples years of "terms and experience” that a couple of “newbie’s” had to expose them to the hard and tough truth about ACORN. I would be interested in these guys voting records on other ACRON matters and will look for that review.

Hi Shelli. It is very normal when you get a document certified by the state that the state's certification is the date that it is sent out, namely, today, for this document. I order them all the time from many different states, and the decertification of Acorn was last November, but to order a copy of the document, as they did here, they got it this morning and posted it online.
Quick! Someone should register corporations under the ACORN and Acorn Housing names in Maryland! That would bar ACORN from ever being able to use those names in the state in the future.

Yes, I used to be a legal sec. This means that since '06 and '08 those two (ACORN & AHC) have been operating illegally. It was certified today (SEPT 15, 2009) by the the State of MD charter head. It's just that they got a current copy to cover their as*ses. They probably had this doc certified earlier. They got it re-done so that nobody could come back and say it was old and do a back-certification with false dates.

This means that Acorn-MD cannot defend lawsuits in the state until their charter is in good standing. Nor can they bring a lawsuit.

Wow! I wonder if the media would cover this? It's possible if maybe 150 Acorn locations might wake one morning and find large masses of protesters at their front doors demanding that they pay the American people back all the money we have given to them. Just a thought.
