The Public Option Deception
by Morgen RichmondThe public option has been a political football since early summer. The President has said more than once that he prefers it but will not demand it. This was considered capitulation by many on the left who see the public option as necessary for “real” reform. Meanwhile, belying the President’s public statements, there are reports that the President’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel has been quietly but firmly twisting arms in the back rooms to insure the public option is included in the final bill. Even now, pressure is mounting on Harry Reid to include the public option in the health reform bill he brings to the Senate floor.

In response to the tumult over what appears to be a small feature of the effort, more than one critic has wondered aloud why Democrats don’t just give up on the public option – which is opposed by every Republican – in order to reach a more bipartisan outcome. What exactly is so important about the public option anyway? And why do Democrats in particular seem so wedded to the idea?
There is a simple answer to these questions, but it’s an answer you’ve likely not heard from any institution in the mainstream media. The truth is that the public plan is a carefully devised scheme, a sneaky strategy, to deceive American voters. It’s a political marketing ploy designed to move the nation to a single-payer system – like the one in Canada – over the next decade. The public option is the Trojan horse. On the outside it’s all about “choice and competition”, but once it has been dragged within the walls of American medicine it’s true nature will become evident. By that time, it’ll be too late.
You want proof? We’ve got plenty.
Starting in April on our blog at VerumSerum.com, we have uncovered many prominent advocates of health reform revealing the hidden agenda behind the public option. Most prominently Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), but also Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Even Rahm Emanuel got into the act.
More damning still, we uncovered video of the original architect of the public option, Yale professor Jacob Hacker, describing how it was designed to not “frighten people into thinking they are going to lose their private insurance” even though that is the inevitable result. In another clip he denies the plan is a Trojan horse saying, on the contrary, “it’s right there”. In other words, it’s not even a secret. Most relevant of all, Hacker admits in another clip that the real advantage of his plan is that “at least you can make the claim that there is competition between the public and private sectors”. In other words, this is all a marketing strategy designed to get around public resistance to government-run health care.
For his part, President Obama has been an extremely disciplined salesman. The mantra of “choice and competition” has been repeated to the point that it is little more than political background noise. To this day, neither the President nor any of his spokespeople have been challenged by the media about these claims, despite the fact that there is video evidence which directly contradicts what he is saying. So confident is the President that the media will toe his line that, in a speech in front of the American Medical Association, the President explicitly denied that the public option was a “Trojan horse” for a single payer system. On this, and numerous other occasions, he has said that opponents of reform who claim this are not telling the truth. Outside talk radio, the conservative blogosphere, and a couple editorials in the Wall Street Journal, no one has been willing to suggest that the opposite is the case.
With so many proponents of reform caught on tape directly contradicting the President, it almost seems as if the mainstream media has intentionally avoided covering this story. And as anyone who has been paying attention knows, that’s something they’ve been guilty of more than once since Obama took office. NY Times public editor Clark Hoyt admitted in a bombshell statement that the paper had risked appearing biased for its failure to cover the Van Jones and ACORN stories as they broke. The Washington Post was similarly chastened.
And as it turns out, both papers may have an additional reason to avoid touching this story. Because politicians are not the only ones we have exposed admitting the truth about the public option. Back in June, we posted a video of Ezra Klein from the Washington Post revealing how the public option was designed as a “sneaky strategy” to move towards single payer. And we have posted videos of Paul Krugman from the NY Times admitting much the same.
But nothing we have uncovered previously is as comprehensive and breathtakingly direct as a new audio clip of Paul Krugman we discovered this week. Krugman is speaking on health care reform at Hunter College on July 16, 2008. It’s a long clip at ~5:00 (unedited), but if you want to know why liberals are continuing to fight tooth and nail for the public option, here it is in astonishing detail (click below to listen):
Paul Krugman – Single Payer and the Public Option
Just a couple of quick points on this. Since I already knew about this hidden agenda, what I found most striking was Krugman’s admission that even without a public option the system would largely look like a single payer system. Based on the subsidies for lower wage earners, and the fact that everyone else is paying for these with taxes on top of their insurance premiums. (And with the bills being discussed in Congress, subsidies are provided up to 300-400% of the federal poverty level).
Also, I should point out that a “Rube Goldberg device”, which Krugman used as a metaphor, is a term for an over-engineered solution to a simple problem. In this case, designed to obscure the solution they are actually looking for, i.e. single payer.
However, the critical point in all of this is the sheer scope of this deception on the part of the Administration – and the media. Paul Krugman and Ezra Klein have been two of the most prominent media advocates for healthcare reform throughout the debate this year. With numerous appearances on television and their blogs at the New York Times and the Washington Post, respectively. And while they are both unabashedly partisan, this should not excuse them from direct and honest reporting. But of course they have not been fully candid, as they were last year, because in doing so they would reveal the dishonesty on the part of the President and his Administration. (Klein has recently added a whole new layer of deceit.)
It’s long past time for an honest broker in the news media to report on the Administration’s ongoing and deceptive strategy with regards to the public option. The President has made claims which directly contradict statements made by numerous of his supporters – people intimately involved with the health reform process. How can we trust our government to reform one-sixth of our economy when a central element of their plan is based on a deception? And how we can trust the accuracy of information reported by the media when by and large they have been complicit in covering this up? It’s time for these questions to be answered. It’s time to let America know they’ve been getting a hard sell, not an honest diagnosis.

The lingering questions will be answered on November 4th, 2010. These lying and deceitful scumbags will be swept into the streets by the electorate. Most INFORMED people (as in conservatives) are fully aware of the hidden agenda. The welfare rats and non-producers could care less, of course. Just gimme mah check…
Isn’t odd that those caterwauling about Bush spying on your library card, went on for years, say nothing about you turning over your medical records to the government — Then who knows who, can do who knows what with them. Is this even remotely Constitutional, I think this is exactly what the 4th Amendment was supposed to do.
Lie, cheat and steal, the new way government works to become a tyranny.
Excellent article, guys. I think I would take it a bit farther, however. You explain that the ultimate goal is a single-payer system. Why? That is the key question, I would think. What does the administration get out of pushing the nation to single-payer over the next decade? Is it idealogical, is it some humanitarian reason? Or is it power?
Rather than speculate, is there any video/written evidence that pegs the answer to THAT question? Beyond love-from-a-distance socialistic adoration?

Senate Finance ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is raising concerns that a Department of Health and Human Services Web site that urges visitors to send an e-mail to President Barack Obama praising his health care reform plan may violate rules against government-funded propaganda.
The Web page is accessed through a “state your support” button featured prominently on the HHS Web site and carries a disclaimer that the Web site is maintained by HHS.
In a letter sent to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Tuesday, Grassley warned that “any possible misuse of appropriated funds by the executive branch to engage in publicity or propaganda in support of an Administration priority is a matter that must be investigated and taken seriously,” noting that in 2005 Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) argued that “the use of official funds for similar activities were 'underhanded tactics' and that these tactics 'are not worthy of our great democracy.'”
The form letter on the “state your support” page includes language hailing Obama's efforts. “We strongly support your commitment to comprehensive health reform. This is not a luxury. The continuing, sharp escalation of health care costs for families, businesses, and government is unsustainable. Reform is imperative. We believe that health reform must be enacted this year,” the letter says.
Additionally, the form letter says that signatories will back Obama's efforts. “During these extraordinarily challenging times, we need to put aside past differences and address the health and economic crisis. Our shared interest must come before narrow interests so we can achieve a health system that is affordable and provides high quality for all Americans. We will support your budget with its reserve fund dedicated to achieving health care reform in a fiscally responsible manner. Each of us must be prepared to contribute to achieving this fundamental goal. By signing this statement we affirm our commitment to work with you and our Congressional leaders to enact legislation this year which provides affordable, high quality coverage for all Americans.”
The page requires signatories to provide their name, zip code and e-mail address, and also asks for their mailing address and phone number, although that information is not labeled as required.
In his letter, Grassley notes that HHS has recently issued new guidance to insurers that they must obtain permission from beneficiaries before sending out mailers critical of the reform efforts in Congress. “The use of the official HHS.gov Web site for activities that seem to be nothing more than government propaganda raises many serious questions,” Grassley wrote.
Grassley asked Sebelius for a host of information, including which contractors helped develop the Web site, which third parties and executive branch offices will have access to the personal data and whether signatories will be or have been contacted by HHS or other executive branch offices.
"Healthreform.gov is a valuable resource for the American people and we look forward to discussing this resource with the Senator," HHS spokesman Nick Papas said Tuesday evening.
I think the eventual outcome will be single-payer once the groundwork and initial health package clears. Obama can claim a victory for something he's supposedly accomplished and then the real deal begins. They want the single-payer in to put us into lock-step with Canada in a pre-emptive move towards the North American Union. That's what I think.
Barack Obama shall not demand the public option. It is to be freely offered up to him, per his mentioned wishes and the recommendations of his attendants and supporters, as is proper when providing gifts to the Emperor.
And here people might have thought there was some "deniability" thing going on for after things go south, go figure.
Democrats lock Republicans out of committee room
By Susan Crabtree – 10/20/09 05:47 PM ET
Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) locked Republicans out of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee room to keep them from meeting when Democrats aren’t present.
Towns’ action came after repeated public ridicule from the leading Republican on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), over Towns’s failure to launch an investigation into Countrywide Mortgage’s reported sweetheart deals to VIPs.
For months Towns has refused Republican requests to subpoena records in the case. Last Thursday Committee Republicans, led by Issa, were poised to force an open vote on the subpoenas at a Committee mark-up meeting. The mark-up was abruptly canceled. Only Republicans showed up while Democrats chairs remained empty.
Republicans charged that Towns canceled the meeting to avoid the subpoena vote. Democrats first claimed the mark-up was canceled due to a conflict with the Financial Services Committee. Later they said it was abandoned after a disagreement among Democratic members on whether to subpoena records on the mortgage industry’s political contributions to Republicans.
A GOP committee staffer captured video of Democrats leaving their separate meeting in private chambers after the mark-up was supposed to have begun. He spliced the video to other footage of the Democrats’ empty chairs at the hearing room, set it to the tune of “Hit the Road, Jack” and posted it on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s minority webpage, where it remained as of press time.
Towns’s staffers told Republicans they were not happy about the presence of the video camera in the hearing room when they were not present. Issa’s spokesman said the Democrats readily acknowledged to Republicans that they changed the locks in retaliation to the videotape of the Democrats’ absence from the business meeting even though committee rules allow meetings to be taped.
"It's not surprising that they would choose to retaliate given the embarrassment we caused by catching them in a lie on tape,” said Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella. “If only they
would use their creative energy to do some actual oversight rather than resorting to immature tactics, but I guess we're getting some insight into what lengths they'll go to avoid addressing the Countrywide VIP issue."
Towns’s office said in a statement the locks were changed on Republicans "because they don't know how to behave." As for the video the GOP made, Towns's office pointed out: "The minority is using taxpayer dollars to make these campaign style videos."
Bardella replied: "It's also those same taxpayer dollars that paid for them to sit in a room while they came up with an excuse to cancel the mark-up — what exactly do they do all day?"
The partisan sniping recalls a similarly bitter name-calling match between House Republicans and Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee in 2003 when Republicans controlled the majority and former Rep. Bill Thomas (R-Calif.) chaired the panel. The episode ended in Thomas, known for his acerbic tongue, summoning the Capitol Police to evict an outraged gaggle of Democratic colleagues from a library in the Longworth House office building.
The committee had convened that morning to consider a bipartisan bill that would revise the nation's pension and retirement-saving system.
Democrats objected when Thomas brought up a 90-page substitute measure that had been released shortly before midnight the night before. Democrats said they needed more time to read it. Thomas disagreed.
In response, Democrats objected to a normally perfunctory motion to dispense with the reading of the dense legislation. A clerk obligingly began reading it line by line.
Democrats departed to a library just off the main hearing room, leaving only Rep. Fortney "Pete" Stark (D-Calif.) to prevent the Republicans from obtaining unanimous consent to skip the reading. After a few minutes, Thomas asked again for the unanimous consent, and instantly brought down his gavel. Stark told reporters he had objected, but Thomas had replied, "You're too late."
Even before Thomas gaveled the reading to an end, he had directed staff to call the Capitol Police to remove the Democrats form the library.
Countrywide, now owned by Bank of America, was reported to have given VIP loans and treatment to lawmakers and officials at the federal and local level who were in a position to influence policy affecting the mortgage giant. Issa has repeatedly reminded Committee Democrats that Bank of America officials had said they would turn over records on the VIP program – but only in response to a subpoena.
Towns, who received a mortgage loan from Countrywide but insists he was not part of the VIP program, has said he declined to launch an investigation because he does not want to interfere with an ongoing Justice Department probe into the matter.
hey leesmic, how bout just a link to the news coupled with YOUR comment.
Are you trying to get this site in trouble? By copying full-text articles, which causes them to be archived in connection to this site, you are likely violating the Free Use Doctrine. Free Republic got bit by doing something similar.
Just post the dang links, with a short blurb if you want.
Unless you really are trying to get the site sued with these multiple instances of possible copyright infringement establishing a pattern. Yeah, sounds like a sleazy political trick to discredit opposition.
You may be right in principle that a lot of uninformed people do not care, and that Nov 4th 2010 will see some change, but your wording and characterization of people is offensive and does nothing to promote the cause of conservative. "Welfare rats" are people, some of whom are children, others have fallen on bad times, and others are just takers for whatever reasons, but that does not give you or us the right to disparage them. "Just give me my check" is the proper spelling and I assume sir you are capable of spelling correctly, using the spelling you did is offensive to me, and I am not waiting for my check. This said there is a hidden agenda and it must be defeated let's do by bringing people together not by ridicule or by rejecting segments of the population who will find a place with those who want socialism.
And this is one of the reasons for the Fox war. Keeping the lapdogs firmly in place. Can't have a free and independent press now, can we? Who knows what they might say if they were allowed to say what they want.
"more than one critic has wondered aloud why Democrats don’t just give up on the public option"
Because it's another service of the welfare state that can be overloaded in an effort to overburden the system and bring down the Government, and ultimately the capitalistic system. To put it simply, it is failure by design.
I think the whole thing is about power. Look at the way any socialist or communist country is run. The masses have nothing, everything is cheap to buy but there is nothing to buy. (I remember my first trip to the Soviet Union in 1968, I was shocked by the lack of goods in the stores). But the ones who play nice with those in power get privileges. The high ranking members of gvt have large houses and vacations in the best places, so you can partake of that if you do well. In the Soviet Union people had small apartments, and were rewarded with a room for grandma if they did what the gvt asked. It is a system of corruption and mistrust. You will have to look after for yourself, and will tread on your neighbor to do so. that is why God cannot be a part of it. Look at the corruption of communist Chavez and Castro.
Now let's look at our own corruption. We are not yet quite there, but look at Rangel, Dodd, Frank, and a few others including some republicans, the system is corrupt. If they can turn this system toward the left a little more then they will enjoy the benefits of their corruption with impunity. We will no longer be able to vote them out and will not be able to stop anything.
Long enough for this soap box sorry it was not meant to be a speech.
You are correct in that, except by the time we will be going broke to get this program on its legs Canada will have made great strides towards the system we have today. So will France and Germany that are also moving towards private insurance. We have a mess, and the people with the mop are either idiots (which I doubt) or corrupt power hungry idealist living in their private jets in the clouds, pretending to buy carbon credits.
Why bother ask if it is constitutional, our constitutional law teacher of a president has trampled the constitution so many times already, what's once more.
The answer to THAT question is very simple. More Government control over our private lives. If people want
to call it socialism/Marxism so be it, this is not an unfair or inaccurate description.
It is very clear for most of us that the hard left democrats solution to ANY problem is larger, expensive(taxes)
government programs. This was started with FDR and continued with the Johnson administration. This
political ideology is further extended every time the political pedulum swings to the left. It just so happens
that this time around the pedulum has swung right out the clock case, and is sitting on the floor of the left wing living room.
And some people believed "he" would unify the country, we have never, ever been so divided on everything. But it is done with cunning and a clear path. Control of the media and vaporization of anything in the way. If it wasn't so scary it would be amazing. I did not think this was possible in the USA but apparently it is.
Watch what Jacob Hacker says….he's behind this single payer mess. He believes in paying off doctors to get them to agree.
Jacob Hacker states:
"Reformers shouldn’t make the same mistake this time around. Freed from the strictures of short-term budget balance, they can instead do what all other countries did when creating their national health programs: buy off the opposition. Britain’s health minister was once asked how he had gotten doctors on board for the National Health Service. His reply: “I stuffed their mouths with gold.” Money may not change everything, but it does make it easier to win friends, or at least divide and placate them.

They also go by CNA/NNOC
Call it speculation or not, but the historical facts show that the two biggest reasons for the single-payer system would be to buy votes and pay-back labor unions. By using subsidies, the democrats can buy many more votes with their gift of health care to what they consider the “have not’s”. The more votes they can buy the more likely they will be able to push their agendas. They would also take health care costs away from labor unions for its retired members and put those costs squarely on the backs of the successful working class. The government would determine just how “successful” would be defined and I’m sure it would become some sliding scale that they could change at any time.
We all have to understand that there are many true progressives in Washington right now. They believe that too many people have had it too good and that must change. They are the great social equalizers. You will never get any of them to come out and voice their grand plan because it is ingrained in them. You will only get it in bits and pieces from once source or another. They follow the course because it is second nature. You cannot head off this historical change in the greatest country on the planet without some form speculation. Health care is the “holy grail” of progressivism.
76% of all people who have insurance are happy with what they have. A majority of the others who actually need assistance already benefit from the many social programs that are already in place. My wife and I go to work everyday to support our family and provide health care coverage for them. I am tired of my government wanting to take what we have worked so hard for and give it to those who choose not to work but think they are entitled to the same benefits. If this healthcare Bill is such a good thing for the "people" then make congress accept the same coverage, NO EXEMPTION!!

It is the rape of one government mandated program "medicare', to support another government mandated program 'health care reform', to manage, out of existence, a portion of the population 'elders' who might corrupt (teach) a portion of the population 'youth' the evils of an overbearing government.
With the added side benefit of stifling opposition 'conservatives' through guidelines and quotas on care.

BINGO!!!!!ALL ABOUT CONTROL AND DE-POPULATION (and don’t forget, redistribution of wealth)!!
Video proof of Obama, Frank, Feingold and many more explaining how public-option, and indeed getting any type of federal health care system in place now, is meant to lead the country into a 100% socialist government run system.
Socialist Health care is Goal"
Single-Payer is Goal
When evil ideas function as a cause it engulfs the innocents hearts who then in turn squash them out. We the real Americans will make the 180 change that has been happening.
All of Congress is a Rube Goldberg Device. Unbelievably complex even though it need not be. They hide behind their complexity so that we plebes, we the unwashed, we the voters, cannot see what is going on. Just as a jackal is a meat eater, career politicians are liars and hypocrites. They cannot change their DNA; they cannot change what they are. We expect them to behave exactly as they are behaving. Nothing new here.
It is the State Run Media that is most troubling. Hiding behind the 1st amendment, the State Run Media has become a willing participant in mass fraud. It seems impossible, yet there it is. How can so many supposedly disconnected media outlets collude to color the news in the same way even using the same adjectives to describe the story? How can they call themselves journalists when they obviate and ignore the facts? When they actively work to write a story in reverse. Not going to where the facts lead, but starting from where they want the outcome to be then manipulating, obscuring, or ignoring the facts to support the predestined outcome. Who is controlling this? Who is the Wizard behind the curtain? This is the troubling question. In a natural world where the media does its self-described job and lets the facts lead them to the truth these politicians would be hammered with facts daily and unable to escape. The media like a skilled gardener should be pruning the tree of politics. Instead with the help of their media friends they are allowed to grow in their natural state. Our garden of democracy is being overrun with old growth and weeds.
We must vote these career politicians out of office. Since neither party has any backbone and both parties are enamored with the cancerous idea of Globalism, a grass roots third party seems inevitable. Perhaps the Constitution Party since they do after all support the U.S. Constitution as it is written. To their credit they back up their platform with the language from the U.S. Constitution. Also, they believe in God. To lead you need a base of morals from which to make decisions. Moreover, they believe that the United States of America is a special place unique from the world, a shining beacon on a hill. Right now it seems they do not have a lot of people running for office but that can be changed with support. It is important that those of us who feel un-represented or misrepresented rally around a common idea to support long term. What could be a better rally point than that which the Founders of this country rallied around?
According to Rasmussen, the most accurate pollster in last years election, support for the health care bills stands at 42%. This seems at odds with the latest narrative from the administration and the media that suggests that the majority favors a public option. In fact, the same poll has 63% favoring a guarantee against having to change the health care over a public option.
Gingrich, who has become somewhat iffy as a conservative, said recently that given the start up of health care set for 2013, repeal of this nightmare would become a major campaign issue in '10 and '12.
They have the votes. They can pass it and the media will tout success, but the question remains; do they believe their narrative is true? If not this is a major gamble for Obama and company who could well see all their hard won socialist gains be repealed.
I side with the initial statement. My parents were poor depression era people and still managed to raise a family of seven without one welfare check. But now when you have people lining up in front of government buildings just on the rumor of free Obama money that is where "TheRightSide" statement rings true.
How much information does a person need before becoming convinced that the whole enchilada is outta whack? The hard-drive of the Federal Government needs to be reformatted…beginning with Congress (both houses) and working outward from there. Repeal laws. Downsize bureaucracy. Outlaw public-employee unions.
We, The People are supposed to do the work of making sure government (city, county, state, federal) works correctly.
If this comes to be there will be more horror stories of people rationed to death in the years to come than ever. As a person who has received health care from the James A Haley VA hospital in Tampa, FL I can attest that government healthcare is not good. The James A Haley way of rationing is to lie to the patient and tell them that their problems are minor when in reality they could be far worse. Example: they told me that I had a partial tear in my ACL ligament, right knee but it didn't warrant surgery yet even though when I walk it constantly clicks. When I got a second opinion they told me that the knee needed to be fixed pronto. This is one of many lies I have been told by the VA and I fear that Obamacare will make this the widespread norm. Obama himself seems to have no trouble lying to people and his socialist cadre worries me to no end..
It's kinda of ironic that they have to "sneak" something into a bill that nobody is allowed to read.
The whole mess is a big lie. They have also carved out the $250B increase in payments to doctors into a separate bill so they can claim this one is budget neutral.
Where do will Canadians go for quality health care after the U.S.' is ruined?
Because "Failure" in the U.S. is now used as the justification for taking what successful, productive responsible people earn to reward the failures.
The Administration is lying. They are in campaign mode and are all about "the message". They think that if they curb the media into repeating "the message" over and over and over again, they will create a meme that us lower lifeform private citizens will be duped into believing.
I am scared to death of this government takeover. If this thing passes I will be forced to sell my house just to pay my taxes and healthcare premiums (more taxes). Since my husband and I are both self-employed, we already pay in both ends of the FICA at a rate of $20,000 per year. Add on top of that an additional $12,000 for my family's mandatory health insurance premiums which I don't even want, plus federal and state income tax, I will need to sell my house just to pay for this crap! Right now I am opting for a catastrophic policy only that costs about $3600 per year which will be illegal under this stupid plan.
I have no quibble with the initial intent of the statement, I even agree with it, that free money from the government makes people lazy and unimaginative, what I think is important for all of us to do is present our point of view in a civilized, non derogatory way.

The heat needs to be turned up! The hannah and James tapes were good at getting the attention of the masses, the media, and of congress but the reality is that ACORN is just one of the pawns in this chess game and getting the main stream media off the bench is going to be critical. Audios like Krugman and many of the others that are out there need to be blasted. Obama is working hard to marginalize the only ones bringing this out and in the process making the truth irrelevent. This bold face lying by the administration is just astonishing and even more outrageous is the lap dog media's indifference. I worry that 2010 is too far out and that there are too many ignorant of the facts to get those corupt assholes out of office. I worry for the future of this country, our enemies are laughing at how we were brought to our knees without a single shot fired.

KRUGMAN: "So a single payer system is one in which everybody pays taxes. Why don't we just do that?
Uh, well…because it would never pass. . . . we could tell people "look, this is not really a tax increase … is there any way around that? I'm calling it the Democratic plan, . . . it's an indirect way of getting at single payer. . .
in reality it's the same amount of money or probably more. But it takes less tax revenue. What would otherwise be called taxes is called premiums.
The plans have two other elements. One is a mandate which says we have to have insurance. And that's becoming enormously contentious in this campaign, . . . The second is . . . public competition . . . public plans will win. . . . a system like this would over time devolve into single payer. But it would sneak up on it. . . . after 5 or 10 years it will be largely a single payer system.
1,500+ PAGES OF BILL REDUCED TO THE SIMPLE TRUTH that they won't admit to us – - –
The final bill and it's implimentation may be " a Rube Goldberg device ", but sorting out the language and ploys used to inact this "comprehensive" monstrosity is more akin to solving a "Rubik Cube".
pazzi… that politically correctness stuff does not work, remember your history……how did we get to where we are RIGHT this minute without "derogatory way". Martin King and followers really tried, and i believed too.then the militant blacks (derogatory honky shit all day and night remember).well history is repeating its self, because welfare rats pushed to far and to hard. they broke the back of the AMERICA middle class taxpayer, shit happens, zin lau…..
Yeah, Obama! We love ya! WOOT!!!
[...] The rest is here: The Public Option Deception [...]
Nobody is more upset about PC than I, PC is ruining too many things, but let's be civil and respectful. Militant blacks is not a derogatory term, it is what some black people are, and some are not. If you are talking about the thugs that stood at a voting booth with night sticks and black panther uniforms and you want to describe as militant blacks you have my support. Not all blacks are militants, not all blacks are African-American, not all blacks buy this crap.
What I do not support is using improper spelling to indicate that someone on assistance is poorly educated (which may be true, since all they might have, is a bad public school, but that is not their fault), not all are poorly educated, and even if a lack of education is altering speech it does not need to be challenged in a negative way.
Welfare is breaking the back of any country that adopts that system, that is what we need to fight. We need to encourage people to stand on their own two feet and to fight for this country. I am not saying give up your principles, in fact I am advocating for these principles. I am saying don't alienate more, don't separate more. Get people to your side, that is what O has done, that is what the liberals have been expert at doing. Did they give up their ultra liberal views? no, they work around people who do not believe as they do and eventually "nudge" them into their way of thinking.
What I was saying is that the same message could have been said without offending anyone. Not offending is not participation in the PC speech, it is being civil.
Curious where you get your information. You said you don't watch TV and you have quit reading online or off.

2011 Obama's Coup Fails is an action packed, satire-filled war game that takes place in the not-so-distant future. Right after the November 2010 election, to be precise. It has been said that America would never be destroyed by a foreign power. It does seem our biggest enemies are not from outside our borders. Could the scenario described above ever really happen? If current events keep transpiring as they are, then 2011 Obama's Coup may in fact become a dark chapter in American History. Stay informed and visit the United States of Earth Blog daily for the real facts taking place from the currently free media. Reality is far more scary and ominous than fiction. Obama is putting real Marxists into power all over America and you can listen to these people in their own words. Be Afraid America. Freedom hangs in the balance.
As our enemies have found we can reason like men, so now let us show them we can fight like men also.
– Thomas Jefferson
Let us Pray that there never is a real Second American Revolution. If that day ever does come, Well then lock and load my fellow Americans. Never give up the right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment is the enforcement clause of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. We are Americans and we shall not go quietly into the night.
It's under drudge report 2010It's called Obama Coup Fails…Please read the aritical.

Sarah Palin found fighting for Freedom" March 7,2011,sarah palin found fighting in militia in virginia.she was helping to attack a convoy of C.O.R.N.Y.(congress of rejected and negglected youth) fighters.Sarah is still a condidate for that high office once Obama and his forces are neutralized. When asked for a comment by a local reporter she said "The time for talk is well past us. Don't ask me anything about any elections until we free this country completely from Obama,Hamas, and Obama's police force. We will put complete end of marxism once and for all right here in Vingina,God help us all! Sarah is well remembered for the constant attacks on her by the elite media. The very same reporters and supposed news outlets such as the now defunt N.Y. times, that hid the news and played the most massive propaganda game on any free people in the history of mankind. With the marxist elite media now a thing of past,Freedom is surely rising.Sarah will make a fine president and has promised to do all in her power to put us back on the right path.
[...] The Public Option Deception (with Exclusive New Audio) The public option has been a political football since early summer. [See how the lying deceitful Democrats are conspiring to screw us all into a government run health care plan against the wishes of the majority of Americans. This one is a must read!...ed] [...]
You may be right in principle that a lot of uninformed people do not care, and that Nov 4th 2010 will see some change, but your wording and characterization of people is offensive and does nothing to promote the cause of conservative views. This said there is a hidden agenda and it must be defeated let's do it by bringing people together not by ridicule or by rejecting segments of the population who will find a place with those who want socialism.
Speaking of Health Care,
I see Mary Landrieu (D-LA) was on FOX this morning, pontificating about the Health Care plan. She openly admitted one important FACT on camera, as a matter of fact, she volunteered it. She stated "Medicare will be bankrupt within seven years." Now then, if this is the case, if she is correct, then why should we GIVE the government control of 1/6th of the economy? It is ludicrous.
Medicare is a failed government program, why give them another profram to fail at?
pazzi…I understand the point your making..To be civil..I do have a comment on something though..You said that poor blacks might not have good education because all they have is bad public schools….and it's not their fault….hmmm….arn't they the public?.If their schools are bad it is very much their fault . They are responsible for the condition of their schools as well as the quality of education provided. It's high time for all americans to take responsiblity for their own actions…and the actions of local , state and federal government…as for being offended…I don't care if I offend anyone if I am standing on my principals and am exorcising my right to free speech…being civil is secondary to the truth and subjective to your audience.
pazzi….my last sentence was,"they broke the back of the AMERICAN middle class taxpayer." as in the middle class ( in all colors ) are taxed to the point of class revolt…..now do you get it?. do not let your liberal education fubar your mind,do not let those profs. blind you.i've been there. both sides in the sixties and seventies, two tours, six years college,25 years law enforcement. the only true way is peace…love…and napalm (when needed) as for being civil, not when your being shouted down by welfare rats…….
It is unfortunate that there is no 1 entity to point our anger at…it is a mental disorder…a belief system…It is more then one type of personality ….but they feed on each other and most definitely feed on the people who achieve..The reason why they are winning now is because we allowed them to build this structure …this monster of a machine that is now bearing down on us..The media machine is just one part of it….Why did we allow it? .. We were busy achieving …for ourselves and our families and couldn't be bothered with idiots…now the idiots have us cornered …now what?
Excellent article.
This getting to the point, that it is too complicated for the Average Joe to understand. Quite frankly, the mere idea for Legislators to have to "sneak" anything into a Bill, the mere thought of using words such as "Trojan", contradicts everything this country was built on. It is simply dishonorable.
We, opponents of this insanity must find one simple catchword, to condense this issue down to, so that it sticks in everyones mind, and everyone knows immediately what it is, and it is further villified and memorialized.
Let's call it the "Halliburton clause"…………..
We all know about the millionaires tax. That is the tax the gov't automatically puts on someone who lakes more than a million dollars a year. The millionaires tax is now put on folks who make 500,000 in some states (California) and some even 350,000 (I think Massachusetts or Vermont). That is a far cry from a million. More gov't sliding scale class warfare BS. I am by no means rich, or even well off. But to take what is not yours to give to someone who does not deserve is abhorrent.

TREASON. Plain and simple. The majority members of our federal government are committing TREASON and no one is trying to stop it !!!!!!! We all watch and talk and do nothing. Everyone keeps talking about 2010 elections but who really thinks these people will allow us to vote in 2010? No doubt, they already have a crisis lined up that will "postpone" the elections or they have ACORN prepared to steal another one for them. These people should be put in prison for what they're doing.
We will all reap the whirlwind! For the first time, in my life, I want to be rich so I can leave this country!! There is no one that will stop these maniacs from destroying the country and making all of us slaves to the government.
Words can't describe how distraught I am about these traitors, tyrants and despots!!! Where are the American statesmen that have the courage to stand up and bring charges against President Obama, the czars, and the members of Congress that are breaking the law? This is all entirely unconstitutional and yet we act as if it's not.
Unless something is done – WE ARE DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!
Disgusting!
It is not so much what you said but the hateful (need I say more) way it is said. Lying, deceitful scumbags, welfare rats, non-producers??? Please, we are talking about real people here with intention that are not evil but simply different from what The Right(?) Side might like. This the rhetoric that has turned so many off to a more conservative approach to politics, me included. Have you no shame???? If not then I feel truly sorry for you.
I will also add…because readers are subjected to this kind of mindset we simply will choose not to come here at all. Oh well! So much for listening to the other side!
XENOPHOBE-let’s be real! I read BigGovernment.com(here) or FOX news chanel online. I USED TO, but no longer read local MPLS/ST PAUL newspapers. Both, are leftist liberal mainstream media outlets. Chanels4-5-11 are the same. Chanel 9 is FOX-they are ok. But, as I said-my tv goes on for my favorite soapy then off-ifit’s it’s for a blu ray movie. If my tv is on-and Mr “jerk,” happens to be on and they cut my show-tv goes OFF! Now that I have simplified that for you!

France , England and Canada are not like the former USSR or Cuba.
Maybe what it's about is a desire that every citizen have some form of health insurance, so they don't go broke or die when they get sick. I know this last sentence will just be mocked, but do conservatives really not care in the least about folks who can't afford health care?I'm not accusing you of being "evil" or whatever lefty cliche, but really are you mostly in a libertarian mindset of "take of yourself and if you can't, tough"? And please don't tell me about charity, that's fine but it will in no way solve the problem I am talking about.
Sorry that you choose not to listen to the other side. I am on the other side you talk of and I am asking for a civil tongue in what we say. This is not about hate of one group or the other.
Right now I see it as preserving what is left of our constitutional rights and preventing the total destruction of the United States, which I think is the goal.
No you are right I chose to highlight communist countries instead of socialist ones. As a native of France I guess I did not want to pick on it too much. I was wrong. Let's talk about the French system will you. 4O% of doctors will not see you if you do not carry supplemental insurance and the number is growing everyday. Reimbursement for medications used to be 100 to 80% in some cases several years back, now it is much less than that, unless of course you are unemployed and collect welfare. A visit to an optometrist can take as long as 8 to 10 months planning in advance because it is non essential. Check the survival rate for breast cancer it is not too good compared to that of the US. Those are just a few facts about France. Total taxes paid by all citizens is close to 50% and this year they were debating if they could pass that 50% figure. sales tax was 19.6 percent a couple of months ago. I have no idea what it is today. Is this what you want? I will let the Canadians make their own comparison.
Congratulations!! I've been saying this all along! The only way that NObama will be able to reinvent the USA in his Socialist image is if he brings about a total financial collapse, at which time he will declare Marshall Law and then totally rewrite a "Constitution" the way he wants it with a Hugo Chavez option, ie, no term limits on the office of the President which he intends to hold to his death. People think that NObama is dumb? This is far from the truth as he is ruthless, calculating and cunning!
Elections have consequences! How's that "hope-n-changie" thingie working out for ya!
If it is not about power but about giving good health care why are:
1) The politicians exempt from it? They could say everyone gets what we get. They know that they have it good.
2) The politicians voting on it with out reading it? It doesn't matter what it says as long as they are in control.
If the desire was for more coverage whey don't they:
1) Give tax breaks to self employed people (like myself) as they do to larger businesses?
2) Allow people to take the policies there employers pay for with them when they leave? It is currently illegal.
If the desire was to make it more affordable whey didn't they:
1) allow insurance companies to compete across state lines. Thus creating more competition and driving down price (look at phone prices).
I'm sure there are some other ideas that escape me at the moment. But one thing you may notice none of the ideas I listed gives the pols anymore power.
That is exactly why he went into constitutional law! You have to know all about someone/something to learn the best way to distroy it. And to make it all look legal at the same time.
2008/06; Harry Reid: “Hillarycare should have passed. We should have single payer. There are pluses to socialized medicine. This will not be done in one year. It takes time, and needs to be done in increments.”

A judge here, an administrator there, a teacher nearly everywhere, after a couple of generations it has added up to what we have. Now what? Now we clear our throat, now we take the time to show up to the town hall, city council, school board meeting, and everywhere else. We voice our opinion. When someone else voices an opinion that you agree with you do NOT remain silent. Speak up in support of those around you. If your the only one with your opinion so be it. Voice it!
