It’s America’s Turn to Speak Out
by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN)The Democrat majority isn’t listening, but House Republicans will. That’s why we’re launching America Speaking Out; an unprecedented initiative of engagement with the American people that will lead to a governing policy agenda for America. Through the use of cutting-edge technology, town hall meetings, and old-fashioned conversation, America Speaking Out will surely become one of the largest online conversations ever about how to get back to a smaller, smarter, more accountable government. This initiative will lead to vital communication with the American people about the serious challenges that they’re waiting for Congress to address.

Washington Democrats have been ramming their own one-sided agenda through Congress. And, throughout the past year, they have repeatedly gone behind closed doors and choked off opportunities for honest and transparent debate. But, my Republican colleagues and I are ready for an exchange of ideas that will restore the bonds of trust between Americans and their elected leaders.
We have to show the American people that we know what’s at stake this year. In the face of failed leadership by Congressional Democrats, House Republicans must produce a vision for a better America that will return our national government to the common sense and common values of everyday Americans. And we’re looking to the American people to help us.
Over the coming months, we will be using this conversation to build on our long-standing belief in a smaller and more accountable government. We’ll incorporate your ideas as we develop policy solutions and concrete plans for reforming the way Washington works.
So, let’s get started America. America Speaking Out is ready to roll and we’re ready for a dialogue which gets the People’s House back to the people’s business.

America is sick and tired of ALL of our representatives, from BOTH sides, cowing down to this criminal administration!!! Any Republican or Democrat that DOES NOT stand up for the people of this country, will have the American people to answer to! We will not tolerate organizations like ACORN, or the SEIU to RUN this country!!
Congress does not address serious issues. Anything unpleasant is delegated to the unelected bureaucracy (IRS, EPA, etc). Congress sees its job as giving gifts, not making hard decisions.
Hopefully the folks in congress will start listening to the people again. It's been a long while for both parties.
Common sense, accountability and responsibility are the things that matter most. It isn't too difficult to know what's right and what's not. Look to the founders and the constitution if there are any questions. We would be much better off today if that had been the plan for the last 100 years or so.
What Washington doesn't understand is that the Tea Party movement isn't a left or right thing, it's an American thing! The silent majority is speaking and you'd better listen. Since the demographics are about equally split between Democrats, Independents and Republicans, real change is coming and incumbents are an endangered species!
Today the Culture Warriors are releasing a music video dealing with the size of the Federal Government. It features a lot of our greatest modern day President, Ronald Reagan! Join us in rocking the Tea Party and sending the bums in Washington home! Please pass it on!

Rock the Tea Party!
Why this rhetoric in an election year only? Where was this in '02, '04, '06, '08????? This appears to be a bit self serving. I really don't know this guy's record, but my knee jerk was "more politician speak". I've been a conservative republican since Reagon and I'm pissed at both sides. When I see this kind of dialogue, I'm once bitten twice shy. Skrew me once, shame on you, twice, shame on me. All you politicians should be ashamed of yourself.
Well this sounds like a great idea – you know, listening to the People; however I have a question:
What's wrong with the current situation, i.e.: reading and/or listening to constituents' concerns when they contact the congressional office?
Elected officials are already getting phone calls, emails, hand-written letters, and faxes. And there are polls by at least a half-dozen opinion pollsters – what more do officials want or need?
What's wrong with the current scenario and why do we need another whiz-bang idea on how we are to communicate with the politicians?
The fact that the GOP is actually asking the question means that they've learned nothing, they're not listening, and they're not a principled organization. Should they retake control of Congress in Jan 2011 we're going to get the same spineless, reaching-across-the-aisle "leadership". And now Newt is considering 2012…more of the same crap from this group.
For some reason I'm having trouble trusting you! If you really want to tell us you mean business, the first thing you should say is that "if the Republicans get back the power, we will pass term limits on ourselves". Then promise us that you will cut your pay to what a normal college educated worker should be making, say no more than $80,000. Then promise us that you will cut your own pension plan completely and join the rest of the underclass in the failed Social Security system. Then we might listen to ya! We've been lied to before.
Well said!
As far as I am concerned, if there is a D after a candidate, he's done. if there is an R, it could stand for RINO, so that person will get heavily scrutinized. Hmmm, I guess I am voting the same way I have since I turned 18.
Where are the rest of you?
That they should, Dave. I was wondering the same thing.
Rep. Pence, why this NOW? You and the rest of the Republican crowd should have been, at least, TRYING to put a bump in Obama's road instead of cowtowing to get along. Talk to me when the RINOs are gone. We don't need big talk in an election year, we need cojones in congress, not a bunch of wusses.
We can speak up . . . but I'm not sure they will hear us. Here are several humorous cartoons on this subject

It's time to put the Constitution back in the center and return to the oath you took. NO more pork on any side. No more spending money to bail out anything. Tell the teachers union to take a pay freeze or cut if it is really about the children, in lieu of 23 Billion in bail out. Don't you dare let the proposed $165 Billion for union bailout get approved. Let them figure out how to tell their members that they can't pay for unrealistic benefits. Billions of dollars are being spent like it was Monopoly money, it's not… it's our money. For clarification, I am one of the minority of people who actually still pays taxes in this country. Balance the budget. Secure our borders. Be honest. Call what is illegal… "ILLEGAL"! Do what is right… not what gives you political advantage. Kick those who break the law out of Congress. I can think of several that obviously meet this criteria. Speak the truth in all things…
Rep. Pence has been saying this for years, even before he was elected (he had a conservative radio show for years). I am not big on politicians but Rep. Pence has stayed true to his word.
I just saw on the news that there are 12 RINOS voting for the multi-billion dollar bailout of the UNIONS!!
We need to get their names.
I'm beginning to think NO ONE in government is listening…everyone's just reacting in self serving ways. It's now time for the people (you remember us? The folks who elected you? Yeah, those folks!) to exert our power.
Maybe, just maybe it's time for us to stop the money machine? Without our dollars there is no D.C. Money Machine. Nothing left to use for bailouts or pork or vote buying,. Oh, wait…I forgot…the Feds can print their own money. Drat.
And while we're at it….how about cutting off the 'severance' pay/perks of all
our elected officials? Oh, shoot…they control that, too.
Do I sound angry….you bet your chicken feed I am!
I agree, Dave. Both sides of the aisle have screwed us. It appears the gop is willing to listen to WE THE PEOPLE, though. If so, we need to hold them accountable and vote them out if they go back on their word.
Exactly. They don't listen to us now. A new program is going to fix that? I guess when you're in government, every problem just needs a bureacracy to fix it.
SEIU seemed to communicate rather succinctly on the front lawn of the banker.
Newt isn't serious, is he? If he runs, we better get used to 4 more years of The Won.
Will you do the hard things? Or must people like myself do them?
1. Enforce election law – if someone voted and was an illegal alien or legal immigrant, recognize the fact and act accordingly.
2. Enforce immigration law – same with overstaying visas , and demand repayment from those like aunt onyanga who illegally collect public housing or other benefits.
3. Enforce welfare fraud laws – check the status of people on welfare.
4. Get people back to work – end unemployment extensions and cap the problem.
5. Deal with social security's imminent default – either raise the age (easy) or make the program partially or fully voluntary (hard).
A part time Congress would be a nice start – There is no reason for you all to be spending so much time in Washington D.C,'s watering holes – go home to your own districts and spend the majority of your time there. Meet in Washington once or twice a year. If there's an emergency, there's always teleconferencing!
That place is toxic – even if you wanted to be honest, you can't. There's too much power concentrated there. If the lobbyists had to travel to 50 different states to collar you, it would slow them down, too. And, we could see who is traipsing in and out of your offices if they were on Main Street, USA.
As a fellow Hoosier, I can attest to what Indy is saying. I wish Mike Pence would run for President, he is a solid Conservative.
Awsome video! Rock on!
not if we can keep the RINO from being chosen as candidate.
And we should believe you why, exactly? The record of the Republican Party does not inspire confidence. Maybe if you people had actually done something to rein in an out-of-control Federal bureaucracy, like maybe proposing a budget with 25% across-the-board, no-exceptions-whatever cuts… or terminating programs and offices that are not specifically – repeat, SPECIFICALLY – authorized by the Constitution… or refusing to exempt Congress from the laws it passes, and terminating existing exemptions… The steps you could already have taken are many; those you actually have taken are practically non-existent.
No, we need to get their hides, or – at a minimum – their scalps.
This is why i do not trust Republicans either, i feel they are trying to scam the people again, just to get our votes, then do as they please like the last time we fell for it.
Cooper, unions donate to Republicans as well–not nearly as much as to the Dems, but—so there are some that are beholden to Union dollars.
Why does it always comes down to "show me the money?"
FYI to all legislatures: the American People pay your wages and our tax dollars are constantly being used for kickbacks and back room deals. We the People have been "showing you the money" for decades. NOW work for us for a change. sheesh.
I do think it would be helpful to listen to the people. It should always have been that way, but if a party is actually willing to get back to it, I think that's a good thing.
BUT, can we please be smart about this? The leftists love to play up the emotional. It's how they gain power. Government has no place in emotional politics. And for that reason I hope we don't get just more distraction like Crist recently did by harping on abortion. Duh. Like he's going to have any chance to do anything about it. And meanwhile he's inserting government regulation and spending like a madman into all of his policies. But, hey, he's against abortion so he's a conservative! Whoo hoo! Thankfully, the folks in Florida see through him. But he's just one of many.
Please, Congressman Pence, stick to keeping the government out of our business. There doesn't always have to be a law, regulation, restriction, program, whathaveyou every time there's a problem. We need to get back to sovereign states and independent people enjoying life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Simple.
More preaching… talk talk talk from the new cheerleaders. I am going to have to repost something I wrote up from some time ago sorry guys….
"Dearest Republican Representative,
"We the people" appreciate the stand you take, HOWEVER what have you truly done to stop this machine? How many walkouts have you initiated? How many govt "shutdowns" did you start? How many sit-ins have you sponsored? How many investigations into your questionable "colleagues" on the other side did you initiate?
Talk, talk, talk is all we hear from you Ms. Bachman, Mr. King and Mr. Boehner and NO ACTION. When will the republicans in DC get spine and take a stand with the corrupt socialist party (formerly democratic as of 3/21/10)? The American people are tired, tired of the lies, deceit and empty promises. Tired of hearing "we are going to fight this" yea with words again and whining? We want to see actual actions no threats of/ or silly letters being sent b/c your opposition DOES NOT CARE WHAT WE SAY, LET ALONE WHAT YOU SAY. The republicans are the only ones right now who can start something of a "physical" nature. So tell me, us, when will the repubs be staging a walkout? Hmmm? WHEN? When will criminal charges be filed at those you know darn well belong behind bars for dodging taxes or taking bribes? When will the repubs start outing those who are corrupt? Our founding fathers signed a death warrant for what they believed, it was called the Declaration of Independence. They had the guts to put their lives on the line for what they believed WHEN WILL YOU DO THAT? When will republicans literally put their lives/careers on the line if need be? Are you prepared to do what is necessary to save this Republic? Correct me if Im wrong but didn't each and every one of you TAKE AN OATH to this country to defend it and DIE for it if need be? No, we aren't asking you to start violence but to put yourself, your career, your reputation on the line to that degree as our founding fathers HELL YES!
So when should "We the People" expect this rising up of the republican party?
We are waiting………..
Send a Message to Politicians, Bias Media and Special Interest Groups http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWDaWBCk0FE
Its time for "out of the box" thinking in dealing with all politicians, bias fringe media and special interest groups who are only working for their own interest. Unconventional actions is what is going to be needed to affect real change through http://www.savingtherepublic.com "
So now we are going conservative again. Hopefully they learned their lesson on doing democrat-lite will not satisfy middle America. May the TEA Party be a constant thorn on both democrats and republicans.
This is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations. This website may be effective for some people; bot citizens and elected officials. May be a great place for people to vent or have legitimate conversations and it may be a good place for elected officials to engage in another form of communication. However, this website won't be effective at saving the jobs of the elected officials. It may be used as a tool for good representatives to further their efforts or success but it won't be able to save a poor representative.
I have one question: Will Democrat (real American Dems., not progressives) representatives be able to engage in the communication? I want to see what they have to say.
I don't pick sides, I pick ideas created from sound and moral principles and values. I am willing to try this out. At some point we have to have representatives we can trust (but still hold accountable) and communication is key in that process.
Thanks. We're just a bunch of old Kansas "hicks" out here in fly over country!
I don't care who donates to who. My money will go to their extravagant pensions and wages. SEIU is in debt to Bank of America for 91 billion dollars and Stern made off with 61 billion. So now we have to bailout SEIU?
Screw the unions and screw the bailout. This is disgusting.
There was an article in "The Hill", which is an inside-the-beltway, DC website that devotes its writings to Washington politics. The story is on unions and the amount of money (over $200 million) they will be giving to the 2010 demon-crat campaigns. Of course we would expect that, after all unions have always been left leaning and money goes that way. However, the unions they speak of are not International Brotherhood of Teamsters, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, or United Steelworkers of America. This story is about two of the largest Unions that exist today and that is SEIU Service Employees International Union) and AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees). These are the top two unions that will spend over a $100,000,000 towards democrats this year.
It's already confusing to understand why someone working for the government needs to belong in a union in the first place. After all, isn't it the government that has the labor laws in the first place to protect those "employed"? I fully grasp the concept of a union that helps protect the Steelworkers and other commercial businesses, but government unions–?
All this will do is further protecting stupidity, intrusiveness, bigger government, more spending, and insolence within government departments and agencies. I think a government union is morally bankrupt and should be eliminated. Wasn't it Reagan who fired the union members who went on strike? Do you remember the Air Traffic Controllers union. Reagan did not believe government employees had the right to go out on strike.
If you look at how SEIU and other government unions operate, when was the last time you saw them go out on strike due to wage issues, or anything directed towards their employer? I do not recall one single time did that occur. The only time we see them stick out their little necks is to counter the TEA Party, or any other group that threatens their massive plans.
They say the amount of unfunded debt built into the pension, or retirement programs for all government employees will be what finally topple "government". Just look at the City of San Diego. This has been the catalyst that has brought this city to its knees. It could be the same for others. When you grant government employees a pension that equals, or exceeds their annual salaries for when they retire, you know its simply unsustainable. It's no wonder government is the fastest growing work segment in our nation. In fact, I think it is the only one growing.
When searching in Google on this phrase (unfunded government employees pensions), hundreds of news hits show up. Here are a few, more recent ones: http://www.sacbee.com/2010/04/11/2670020/pension-...

Thanks for sharing your first hand experience. That helps a great deal!
My daddy was born in Kansas! Thumbs up to your band!
Thanks for sharing. That ROCKS.
End the Fed,

Mr. Pence: How can the GOP guarantee that they won't run or support any more RINOs?
Please be specific.
That's why we must vote in conservatives in Nov. That is, if you hope to have more than change in your pay envelope.
There is a simple way to solve a lot of our problems: cut the social programs.
1) If we don't have social programs there would be less illegal immigration. Right now they get tons of government assistance whether we like it or not.
2) Cutting social programs means less programs that we have to fund as tax payers but it also means less government workforce that we have to pay for.
3) there are a lot of useless social programs that can be cut– start with the health care bill and end with HHS which wastes millions of dollars each year
…The Federal Government should support and defend the Constitution here at home, promote our national interests worldwide, protect our borders …
…and get the hell out of the way and let the states do the rest…
Hey Mike your site doesnt work too well, it needs more work, i couldnt even vote down one of the trolls on there
Love this idea, but . . .
please tally my opinions sent via mail, email, fax and phone, and then get back to me.
The website doesn't even have a category for Energy Independence, Replace Cap and Tax with a reality tech solution of Build Baby Build
…..the pukes don't have a clue either, energy security leads to jobs, national security, and a greener planet. Allow the private sector to Build Baby Build, by cutting taxes and regulation, 100%, on, ALL, alternative energy infrastructure, equipment, labor, and retrofits. Cut taxes on alternative energy energy sales and purchase. Cut regulation that allows utilities to control the sale and purchase of alternative energy, allowing anybody that is willing to produce and sell AE to do so.
We have reality tech alternative energy solutions available today, like microturbines. We should be creating a new industrial revolution with today's, already tested and proven, alternative energy resources. Build Baby Build…forget about carbon and a tax on C02, let's just get started building an America that doesn't use foreign oil.
IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID. Are you listening Mr.Obama? No, because you really do not care. We see you for who you really are, and we do not like it at all. The emperor has no golden fleece robe. Empty words off of a TelePrompTer just will not cut it. Actions speak loader than words. I see a huge Conservative victory coming soon, as long as we stay true to conservative principles, and values. You cannot trust Progressives, they LIE.

End the Fed,
Restore the Republic
A part time congress and a constitutional amendment for closure in the Senate of 67 votes. When they moved closure to 60 votes, in the seventies, is when this country started toward the cliff.
Hey Mike why dont you just log in to This site an read the post here, that will tell you all you need to know.
Get rid of the Department of Education, the DOA, the DOD, and the IRS
…raise the retirement age to 68, freeze federal hiring and spending. Repeal ObamCare. Cut military spending on "future" tech equipment. Stop ALL "targeted' tax cuts, corporate welfare and subsidies. Stop ALL pork barrel spending. Return states rights and shrink the federal government by privatizing everything that cannot be eliminated.
Cut taxes 100% on ALL alternative energy.
Anything passed has to reference how it is allowed by the constitution.
They tell us to speak out and then they choose the topics, PITIFUL!
Well, the Conasses here in South LA are in the same boat with the hicks, rednecks, trailer trash or whatever else they want to call us. There are a whole lot more of us than there are them. Now is the time to stand against them.
Time to form the Phalnanx!!!
"The fact that the GOP is actually asking the question means that they've learned nothing" BINGO!
Well said!
Thank you all for the kind words and taking the time to listen!
All I have to say is – Too Little, Too Late! The Republicans are just trying to save their asses now. VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!
Is this a direct repost by Pence from Eric Cantor's post a couple weeks ago? Sure looks like it……
I second the motion.
Here here.
I hope this does not turn out to be a "Which way is the wind blowing" tour. You need to be bold and show leadership, getting the messaging right about your principles is one thing, figuring out what your principles are via triangulation is what the democrats are hoping for.
I understand that not all battlefields are the same, MA for instance which might not respond to the Constitutional Conservatarians approach, but you better believe the majority of Americans will.
Bigger Government equals less freedom, less opportunity, and less prosperity.
Bigger Government equals more spending, more control, and more corruption and more incompetence
If you can't prove that to the American people using simple case studies then you should not be running for office.
The converse is also true
Less Government equals more freedom, more opportunity, more prosperity, more integrity, and more efficiency
You speak for a small percentage of dimwitted conservatives, you do not speak for the American people. I also wish R's and D's to stand up for the people of this country, so how is it you and I can support the same thing but be so far apart on what it means?
Because your definition is based on your partisan desire for total control of government, the very thing that works against the interests of the American people. ACORN and SEIU are not the biggest problems, except in the "conservative playbook".
Blindly attacking all Republicans is only the answer if your are democrat.
By all means examine each set of candidates closely and pick or promote the best you can get according to your and their principles, trust none of them and verify everything.
Just blindly swapping out candidates is counterproductive. Would you swap a strong conservative for a middle of the road moderate or leftist democrat?
Serious issues like health care reform, financial reform, repeal of DADT? Not serious issues?
Interesting lecture. So you do speak for the Majority of all Americans?
I fail to find anything of value in your post, futhermore you are a leftist so why pretend to be anything else.
Do you honestly think anyone is fooled by your childish statements?
Rep. Pence,
I would like to believe this time is different. I would like to believe that you and the rest of the Republicans I helped elect when George Bush was president will actually vote for "smaller, smarter, more accountable government" this time around instead of the bloated, wasteful, pork-filled handouts that you used to grow the national debt even while we were experiencing an economic boom. But I don't. I don't trust you. I don't trust your cronies. You had your chance, and you spent it buying votes from the AARP and Focus on the Family instead of engaging in some fiscal responsibility. Step down, and let someone with some credibility push the small government agenda.
Right on!
health care reform: underfunded giveaway. my point exactly.
financial reform: not about financial reform, all about appearances.
DADT: Clinton-era policy not a major issue. How many cases last year? Just one of obama's campaign promises that had to be kept.
Why is your comment history hidden?
Please be advised DaveGuy is a leftist that wants us to implode, not move forward.
Question every candidate, trust none of them, but do not buy into the throw them ALL out nonsense.
Dude, you need to learn reality before you make such statements. If experience and rhetoric are not enough for you, look at polling data to see who the tea partiers are. They are conservatives overwhelmingly, it is a movement of the right so far, which is why it is not a majority yet, and it certainly isn't silent. The core message is right on, but the singular focus on Obama and democrats as the problem make the tea parties nothing more than a faction of conservatives. You stop "the crazy" and stop the ignorance, as you exhibit, and centrists such as myself will join you (tea parties) in the streets.
Hang on… Here we go… PRIVATE PAY PLUMMETS, GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS SOAR!
http://usataxpayer.org/?0037479012
Liberal Democrats voted in a colossal idiot with zero experience (other than voting present) to run the nation. ObamaCommie and his puppet Congress squandered our tax dollars driving up the debit. They entitled unions, welfare recipients, government drones, illegal aliens, those still mooching off mom and dad, and other worthless freeloaders. They gave them free taxpayer health care, housing, education, you name it. ObamaCommie promised it could all be paid for by taxing the rich, taxing big business, taxing our children's future, credit, and other fiscal nonsense.
Now, ObamaCommie's chickens are coming home to roost!
GOVERNMENT DRONES ARE MULTIPLYING LIKE LOCUSTS, MORE FREELOADERS ARE MOVING IN FROM MEXICO, TAXES ARE GOING UP, INFLATION IS GOING UP, BUSINESS AND JOBS ARE MOVING OUT. THE IDIOT WAS WRONG!
YOU LIBERAL DEMOCRATS HAVE GOT TO BE THE STUPIDEST MORONS EVER!
Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling… FOR CHINA…
Millions Face Tax Increases Under Democrat Budget…
http://usataxpayer.org/?0050135387
Nor should you, but don't distrust automatically either.
Verify and hold them to the fire. I agree with your statements about politicians playing games, just saying that the left would love us to automatically split the vote with 3rd party candidates.
Now is the time to make sure you can get the best candidate, not at the polling booth. Not lecturing to you brother, just pointing out that we all need a plan and lets make sure it's ours and not theirs.
Agreed
That was tight! Great job!!
Since when is "reaching-across-the-aisle" considered "the same spineless" leadership?????
That is how a democratic republic operates! The parties must negotiate and compromise to govern, it is exactly how it is designed to work!
While I agree with your sentiment, you've got your understanding ass-backwards. It seems you want one party control of government, a dictatorship style of governing. Thats not democracy.
if you knew Mike Pence you would know it is not 'just now' Mike has been on OUR side from the word go. Go take a look at his voting record and you will see, he is not just a Republican. He is a man of the people and I am proud he is my congressman. He will be the ONLY incumbent I vote for.
Congress investigating steroids in baseball? The Copenhagen global warming junket? Photo ops with the troops in Iraq and Afganistan? Nancy Pelosi's Gulfstream 5 jet trips and alcohol consumed at taxpayer expense? 68 million for a ted kennedy memorial? 97 million for white house renovations? Frank Murtha's own personal airport? What the F*** do you r***t**ds in Congress really do? It is time for you all to go!! November is not soon enough!!
OK, here is my suggestions on how to fix this country:
1. Repeal Obamacare now.
2. Cut taxes on working families.
3. Cut all foreign aid to countries hostile to the USA.
4. End the wars and bring our troops home. They are tired and have served their country well.
5. Mandatory drug testing for Welfare recipients.
6. Job programs for Welfare recipients. No free checks.
7. Money saved on wars and foreign aid used to bolster Social Security.
8. Term limits on House and Senate.
9. Salary cut for members of congress.
10. Absolutely no PAC or Lobbyist money for candidates.
Thats a good start.
Way to stick to the script Pence. You don't speak for the American people, so stop trying to convince us you do. It makes you look like a bigger liar than you are.
BTW, the website is a piece of crap. Its slow. I couldn't even register to participate because it said my email address was already taken. Huh?!? And don't fool yourself into thinking "the American people" are going to use it. No one other than conservatives will use it. No one else knows about it.
You know, name calling seems to be the first choice of leftists with no facts. RINOs are trying to catch the wave without contributing to it. If the shoe fits, fist it. If the guy's got a good conservative record, keep him. My original post was rather clear on the fact that I really didn't know this guy's record. Read it again and see if you then see any leftist crap. I've been called alot of names in my life, but being called a leftist really ticks me off.
before you people tar and feather him along with the rest of the crowd of lazy donothings. take a look at his record. He is NOT your typical congressman.
we have to believe that there are still some good people in the world. We can't become so cynical that we ignore the best and follow the 'new guy' on the block. Isn't that just what happened? Didn't everyone jump on the Obama wagon cause he was fresh and different and saying all the right things instead of look at his track record.
come on, give Mike a break and take a look at what he says and what he does. We NEED the good ones, but we need to get rid of the bad ones.
You, have my vote if you run.
I signed up for that site (www.americaspeakingout.com), and I tried to post an "IDEA" that would end "The War on Drugs" or at least end "The War on Pot" and it would not let me add it because it said that it was "Inappropriate"!!!! WTF?!? I should be able to post and idea I want….
Looks like if they don't like something that you like you can not post about it!
Why thank you, but I am much too conservative to get on any ticket.
"Dude", it's a fact 40% are Democrats or Indies. Your statement couldn't be farther from the truth.
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/polls/90541-s... And in some areas of the country (Ohio) it's being run by Democrats.
if you think wanting less government is far right you are profoundly ignorant. To the contrary "dude", wanting more government is a far, far left idea that only leads to the people at the bottom suffering. But I guess if you don't understand that you probably slept through school. The problem with the left is they don't let the facts get in the way of their delusions. What is truely amzing is when someone thinks the concept of limited government, as spelled out in the United States Constitution, is "crazy" or somehow "radical". It kind of makes ya think, huh.
You can never be to conservative. You could Possibly too Progressive, but not to conservative.
Yes, i would say I speak for the majority of all Americans. It is their interests foremost that guide my perspective.
Why do you dimwits insist on making an argument that has no reference to anything actually said? I could have said anything at all and your response would apply.
I have liberal views, but I'm not a leftist as its been defined. I don't want socialism. I want smaller government, balanced budget, term limits in Congress. I want their pay cut, I want every law they pass to be equally applicable to them, I want their pensions ended and converted to 403B's like most gov employees have.
These are things the American people want, and these things have nothing to do with SEIU and ACORN. Those entities are FAR from perfect, but you dimwits hide that fact by making them your partisan bogeymen.
Well, you didn't clarify whether you think these are serious issues or not. You just pointed out you don't think the solutions offered are serious. You either think these are serious issues not being seriously addressed, or not serious issues so don't need serious address.
DADT is important in the post 9/11 era, when the military has lost highly capable individuals because of the antiquated policy. The policy has hurt our efforts at fighting terrorists. Perhaps you think that is not a serious issue?
just as i figured, they don't want ideas from us, just a rubber stamp to follow their lead.
Copper, i respect you, you're one of the best posters on here, but 'lest we let the newly registered trolls have at you, it's millions, not billions.
I agree with telling the unions to give themselves a cranio-rectal removal.
Got that right!
Clarification: They either don't address them seriously or don't address them at all.
DADT: As far as I can tell, Congress has not addressed this issue. Maybe they will in the future. My crystal ball is broken. The last time it was addressed was by Pres. Clinton (not congress). As for whether or not it is a serious issue, I think libs make it a bigger issue than it really is. I could just as easily say that if it is repealed, the military will lose highly capable individuals because they do not want to serve with homosexuals. The policy would hurt our efforts at fighting terrorists. Perhaps you think that is not a serious issue. Note that I said I COULD say it. The point is there are repercussions to every action and these must be addressed seriously. Congress, being more interested in job preservation (their own) is incapable of addressing them properly.
Now stop being a troll by putting words in my mouth.
The fact that you THINK that YOU actually have the power and gravitas to "speak for the majority of Americans" shows how deluded you are. You DO realize that over 60% of Americans want to repeal the heath-care mess, over 60% of all Americans support the AZ 1070 bill, your 'savior' Obama now sits at record low levels of support, and you think that you are in the majority?
Lemme give you some advice. Move to Canada before Nov. Cancel all cable and internet. That way, when we run the polls, and you and "everyone you think you speak for" get their asses handed to 'em, you won't be tempted to make yourself a noose.
I love this idea. The more time Congresscritters spend in DC, the more trouble they make for us regular people.
Unfortunately, if we ever DO get ourselves an honest and ethical Congress, they could work 24/7 cleaning up all the bad legislation we've been forced to take lately. and after THAT was done, there's plenty more work cutting spending entitlements, big govt programs and so on…
Until I see REAL prison time for the corruptors (Congressman and Senators) I'm not believing a word of it. Words mean nothing. How many times have we heard this BS.
or as we used to call it in the operating room…a cranial-anal-ectomy…
Your 40% number is a fact according that one poll. A rather shoddy methodology to boot. One sample taken over the course of 3 months is not a very good snapshot, which is what polls are. Need I also mention it is a Republican-leaning polling firm? Regardless, you said: "Since the demographics are about equally split between Democrats, Independents and Republicans" Your poll says 13% Democrat, 28% independent, 57% Republican. Is that how you define an "equal split"?
Here are a few more numbers to help you polish your perspective: 66% conservative, 8% liberal. Even split? 17% are tea partiers. Silent majority? Over 80% disapprove of Obama. 82% oppose health care reform, vs. only 48% of the total sample. Huh, I guess a majority of Americans don't oppose health care reform afterall. Why do conservatives keep saying we do?
I think thats enough for you. I won't even bring up results of other polls that equally prove I'm right. You really should read more than the headline of the article before you start spouting.
Less government is not far right, which is why I said the core message of TP is right on. I support that part of it. But then the corollary of the movement shows through, the unhinged angst over Obama before he even took office, the Hitler signs, the whining about Communism and socialism, the ignorant tirades at townhalls and intimidation tactics. TP cuts all that ridiculous crap out and sticks to the core message, it truly will blossom into a popular movement. But that won't happen as long as it remains such a winger partisan group.
You have a couple typos in this sentence: "The problem with the left is they don't let the facts get in the way of their delusions." Replace "the left" with "me" and "they" with "I", and you'll go a long way to overcoming your delusions.
Sorry to burst your bubble. I do like your enthusiasm. But facts do matter, I can't let you slide with such blatantly wrong statements. Now I'll go watch your video, others seem to like it and I do love music.
Mike Pence: I find it hard to believe you. In the days before I lost my job in corporate America, there was always a new red-hot who would come along with a new initiative to get 360 degrees of input from all stakeholders. But in the end, nothing useful was done, because the red-hot's incentives were to keep things the way they were.
You are not likely to be rewarded for listening to people like us, but the Unions, Businesses, PACs and other money brokers will make sure no matter what you say to us, you will do their bidding.
Our only hope is to remove power from the government.
Best suggestion I've seen.
Want to see what the people really think, go among them as one of them.
If you have bothered to look at this site after this article you'll surly notice that cynicism runs deep here. Most of us have been burned one time too many by politicians' promises.
I feel as strongly as you do…The unions should be starved of money!!…Let them
get it from their members not the Government..(We the people)
yeah, i've been writing, calling, emailing, and faxing for years about the economy and big government. Not once have they listened and I'd be surprised if they ever did.
