Sean Hannity – A Stalwart Champion for our Troops: Don’t Listen to His Detractors

Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin , Dr. Laura and so many other talk show hosts have given unselfishly to this noble cause.
From time to time they are attacked, usually by leftist anti-war extremists, but sometimes even conservatives make the mistake of joining the circular firing squad against one of their own. There have recently been unfair attacks against Sean Hannity, but we know he has been a total champion in supporting our troops and we are honored to stand with him.
Since the beginning of our organization in 2004, Move America Forward has been a pro-troop grassroots organization that has worked tirelessly to give our troops a voice and serve them as best we can. It is a difficult and often frustrating endeavor, and there is never enough money to help the many brave men and women in America’s armed forces who need and deserve our assistance. Sean Hannity has been a friend to our organization and has helped us greatly in serving our troops and their families.
His generosity in supporting our troops is legendary. He personally gave $100,000 to the Wounded Warriors Foundation and over $200,000 to the Freedom Alliance. When we had a group of Gold Star Parents who had lost a son in Iraq, Sean provided the funding so we could take them to Iraq and see where their children died in the cause of protecting American freedom. They could see with their own eyes the progress that had been made in turning Iraq into a democratic country that would no longer harbor terrorists or threaten peace.
Again in 2007, Sean donated over $15,000 to our care package program, quietly, with no expectation for anything in return.
The attacks against Sean have been leveled by Ms. Debbie Schlussel, who has been a tireless fighter against Islamic terrorism. But, Debbie has missed the mark in her attacks. She assaults Sean Hannity as well as the organization Freedom Alliance for paying transportation costs and hotel stays related to Hannity’s blockbuster “Freedom Concerts”. But that simply isn’t true. Sean pays for his own transportation and hotel rooms.
She doesn’t understand that in addition to his generous financial support for pro-troop causes, Sean gives the most valuable thing he has to the pro-troop movement: his time and reputation. Hardly an hour of his syndicated radio and TV show goes by without Sean saying something supportive of our troops. You cannot find anywhere a better friend or ally to the men and women of the United States military.
Many of your have probably been to his Freedom Concerts, which provide a huge morale boost to our troops and patriotic Americans back home. They do cost a lot of money to produce, but they also produce so much good. The time he spends personally with the troops and their families is of immeasurable in value. Just ask any of them who have attended.
Much like Ronald and Nancy Reagan when our POW’s were released from Viet Nam, Sean has quietly reached out to our troops in ways that the public will never know. In addition to these acts of kindness, they don’t even know about his various acts of generosity. Among his many gifts, he personally contributed thousands of dollars to the Move America Forward Troopathon – the 8 hour telethon broadcast on the internet so that we could send care packages to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Move America Forward has shipped over 168 tons of care packages to troops overseas, and yet we continually feel as though we haven’t done enough. There are so many more troops who deserve our thanks and gratitude. With the help of celebrities like Sean Hannity, we are closer to reaching out and touching all of our deserving troops overseas.
For the record, Sean Hannity, we know to be a tireless worker, and a selfless supporter of our troops. Sean has visited wounded troops at military hospitals, he has organized several trips to Iraq, and most importantly he has consistently honored our troops and their missions in the War on Terror and defended their honor whenever those on the fringe left trash our brave men and women.
It is easy for people to criticize. Ironically, the harshest critics are the ones that have little to show in support for our troops. The pro-troop community knows who our friends are. Sean Hannity is our friend, and Americans are grateful for his continual dedication and generosity towards our troops.

First, I would like to know the size check dear Debbie has written to help our fallen or wounded soldiers families. Second, if she would dig a little deeper in her analysis, she might find the reason behind the size of assistance given to a given soldier. If these soldiers were prostitutes, pimps or illegal aliens and a customer of ACORN, the amount of funds they recieve would be buried and not reported. But since they are soldiers and I am sure report true income, any income could adversely reflect the amount of assistance they recieve from the Governement. The red tape and regulation is the real villain here, not Freedom Works or other outstanding , law abiding charities. You go Sean Hannity, you are a true American!

I'm a way-right-of-center conservative. I am lukewarm toward Sean Hannity's show, although I listen frequently. I just think there are so many things he could do better.
However, this attack on him is beyond crazy. I am certain he wouldn't take or use or convert to his own benefit money or other contributions intended for the benefit of our troops.

A question would be more suited like: What are the Hollywood elite doing for the troops and their families? Are any of them being investigated ever, say for like when they do their Farm Aid concerts, or Any of their charity associations. I say if you investigate one investigate all… that would be right and good and hold them to the same scrutiny.

That is true I forget where I read the article but it said something to that effect. That if they gave more than that amount it interfered with benefits they would recieve from the gov.
If you actually examine this charity you will find out that their objective is not to write a huge ass check to everybody that was injured (no matter how severely). Many of the requests from wounded warriors are brought not by the proud patriot themselves but by those around them. The request of sometime a plane or bus ticket to handle a family emergency etc. I have never been under the impression that anyone is handing a wounded warrior a Million bucks, if that was the case this charity would already be broke, it is to help with needs on an individual basis.

In this world of mistrust, and with Sean's constant harping on about Obama's transparency let Sean show an example of how transparency is done.

I recently retired after 22 years of service in the Army. I was engaged by several of the Vets Against the War. In response to their tirade, I posed several questions of my own. Having been a Soldier, and having led Soldiers, I felt obligated to dispell some of the misinformation they were spewing. My first counter question was why they were against the war that they claimed to have served in, and were they actually combat veterans? Anyone that served is a veteran, but not all veterans are combat veterans. No answers, load of profanity and angry gesturing, but no real answers. Second, what was the characterization of their service on their DD Form 214? Honorable, General, Other than Honorable, Dishonorable? Again, no answers. Third question, what were the circumstances underwhich they were seperated? ETS (normal relase from service after term of enlistment), involuntary separation (overweight, physical fitness failure, drugs, AWOL, repeated pattern of misconduct, etc.) again, no answers, just cursing and screaming.
A pattern usually emerges around this sort of group. Most will claim to have been separated for something like assaulting and officer or noncommissioned officer, or some other vague "the man was out to get me" fallacy. Once you dig beneath the surface, the lies all become obvious and you realize they were put out for a series of issues ranging from repeat offenses like AWOL, positive drug tests, DUIs, overweight, physical fitness test failures, etc. Not people the Army wishes to keep around. In their misguided view, this is their opportunity to get even. What they fail to realize, is they are only further highlighting what complete and utter failures they are.

FACT: Very little (< 16%) went to the soilders and families.
I dismissed Schlussel's specific accusations against Hannity getting primadonna treatment as exaggerated.
But I also looked at the tax returns of the Freedom Alliance and I don't understand why they even bother raising money for troops if so much of the donations and ticket prices get wasted on overhead. Their efficiency is so low, it is robbing funds from troops who could have got direct donations without the middleman.
The author even admits the concerts are designed to raise morale, getting people together to have a huge jamboree here stateside. But why waste money on a big stage production here instead of providing all of the money to the kids?
This brings us to the sneaky part – Hannity's agent knows charity concerts tours save him a bundle on PR expenses, they get people on his side politically because the THINK he's really helping our troops.
The better charities remain politically non-partisan to maximize donations and minimize divisiveness. I think Hannity is sending some nice money to the troops, but your dollar would go much farther for troops if given to a efficient, transparent nonpartisan charity.

My heart and, I believe God tells me that Sean is an honest man that lives fairly humbly so he can give more to worthy causes. I don't think he owns any other property other than the estate in Long Island, which he deserves and needs so he has a shortish drive to work and a place to have plenty of privacy in his fishbowl life he leads.
Even if he does have more, I don't care b/c I know he has a good heart, hence his popularity.
