We Will March on Washington
by Matt KibbeIf there were a Death Panel empowered by legislative fiat to determine the political viability of legislative agendas in Washington, D.C., it would declare ObamaCare all but dead, not worth any further time and expense incurred by the American people. “Do Not Resuscitate,” the tribunal would vote, citing the best comparative effectiveness research in its non-negotiable determination.
Unfortunately, that merciful committee does not exist, so we have been subjected to yet another clarifying speech from President Obama on his proposed hostile government takeover of our health care. In just a few weeks, we have gone from “health care reform” to “insurance reform,” and now “health security.” Is it just me, or does this White House simply repackage the very same bad ideas with more carefully chosen new words, confusing rhetorical elegance for good policy? Ok, maybe less rhetorically elegant than once believed.
Regardless, the timing of last night’s hastily arranged speech before a joint session of Congress was weird. Such special sessions are themselves weird, exceedingly rare forums usually reserved for dramatic effect, like when Presidents declare war. The glaring exception, it seems, was Bill Clinton’s ill-fated, pen-wagging veto threat to Congress if they failed to pass his (Hillary’s) health care plan. So why did Obama do it? Why now? According to USA Today before his speech, “the ever more noisy opposition to his health care objectives has had one result: It prompted Obama’s decision to address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday in an effort to regain momentum on the issue.”
So the President wants to have another argument with the voters. He already has ridiculed publicly citizens who have the audacity to disagree, like the lady who asked him to keep government out of her Medicare. (Maybe she was referring to his proposed $500 billion in cuts from a system that is already $46 trillion in the red, to fund another government-run health care system for new populations?)
We respectfully accept the invitation, Mr. President, and have decided, en mass, to March on Washington this Saturday, September 12th. I predict it will be the largest group of fiscal conservatives to ever gather in Washington, D.C. We will gather at Freedom Plaza, near the White House, at 9 am Saturday morning. Tens of thousands will march straight down Pennsylvania Avenue to the West front of the Capitol for a massive rally. There will be a stage, jumbotrons and an excellent sound system. You will hear from principled leaders like Former Majority Leader Dick Armey, Senator Jim DeMint and Representative Mike Pence. More important, you will hear from the grassroots citizens who represent the heart and soul of the tea part movement.
Its not to late. Register to March on Washington today!

Besides, this Obamacare monstrosity goes far, far beyond extending cobverage availablity to the roughly 7-9 million (tops) who don't have access. It's an attempt to overturn and reduce to government control the entire industry, a sixth of the economy. It's like "fixing" a bad spark plug with an engine rebuild.
If at first you can't sell cow manure then sell fertilizer. It is simply a waste of time and money. Americans are just to smart (I hope) to buy into repackaging. I personally along with thousands/millions of others am disgusted.
My personal war?
I no longer buy any product advertised on the the network stations. No product advertised by any cable channel refusing to do the right thing. Getting difficult to shop but I find alternatives.
For just one week could we all boycott the network shows, entertainment and alledged news? So long as Fox is the only relevant news, it will be the only news I watch.

Perhaps you would be surprised to learn of the many who have, at some point in their lives, been without health insurance, but who realize that what is being attempted by Obama and his Statist brethren is contrary to everything upon which our nation was built (and contrary to that which has enabled it to become the greatest success story in the world).

Yes I do, and it sucked. It sucked so bad i finally went on line and looked up health plans I could afford and met my needs. Got a good policy from a big a name company for $80 a month (and yes they know I smoke). That is only $20 a week, I piss away more than that on crap I have no need for.

I do, and I further understand what it's like to be without when you have a chronic pain condition that needs treatment. None of that makes me believe that it's fair for me to demand more of your hard-earned money to pay for my health needs and to give government the false right to take from you to give to me.
If you want to know what happens to a health care market without government and insurance interference, take a look at the history of plastic surgery. Costs to plastic surgery procedures have steadily dropped even as costs in the rest of the health care system have done nothing but rise, and many plastic surgeries are drastic, invasive procedures.

It is going to be interesting watching CNN and MSNBC try to dismiss this crowd. They will try, I'm sure, but watching their heads explode will be entertaining.

The real crisis is as follows:
Jobs
The overall economy – GDP growth
Fiscal stability
We need for Congress to spend time on our priorities as noted. Until these are addressed, we should not spend much time on health care.
I would suggest no healthcare legislation gets considered until:
Unemployment is below 7%
GDP growth is steady at 2.5% annually
The annual deficit is reduced to less than 5% of GDP
This also means recasting the unspent stimulus dollars toward something effective in creating long-term value, like nuclear power plants.
Health care ideas and reforms can be studied and debated in the interim, and legislation can be actively pursued in chamber after these other priorities have received sufficient time and attention and these goals have been achieved.
To do anything other than this is economic suicide and will make health care reform meaningless. Joblessness kills. The greatest source of bankruptcy is not health care but joblessness.
This is what we the people want and our employees in Washington need to start paying attention to our needs or they are going to have to be summarily fired.
Let's demand full attention to our agenda before anything else:

Kelly, I'm not heartless about uninsured Americans. I agree we need to do something about fixing Health Care because the costs continue to rise unabated each year. I just don't believe that government run healthcare is the answer. Whenever the government get involved, they mess things up. They never get the costs of the programs right e.g., Cash for Clunkers. The government can help address some of the problems that cause the increased costs, such as tort reform, but we don't have to kill the whole system…

I know what it is like to not have health insurance… or a job for that matter. I work in a field that is the first to be laid off and the last to be rehired. That does not mean that I will blindly follow this administration and its attempts at gross overspending and attacks on our freedom and constitution (which you may want to go back and read!)
I wish I could be in Washington DC today. My thoughts and prayers for the folks in DC and our country as a whole go out to everyone today.

Yes, I do. I am still paying for it. The problem is… I am paying for it and for all the bums who show up at the ER for the most expensive "free" healthcare on earth. The worse thing is, the hospitals have no qualms about suing me because I am slow to pay and tacking hundreds of dollars more on to my bill. Do I blame the bums? NO! They are just accepting a free gift from my representative who wants their vote. Our representatives are the ones who are to blame for this. They keep opening my billfold to pay for their votes. Yes I do and I never asked someone else to pay for myself or any of my family. I went back to school on my own dime with 5 children at home, held a full time job and went to school full time, and paid for my own daycare.

GO American’s! You got to love the freedom of speech! It’s good to see American citizens finally using that right to our advantage. This President has to be the most controversial in history. First he had everyone screaming for him now in such a short length of time it seems everyone is running him and his ideas out. I wish everyone would of done this before the election. Most of us do Kelly. It's not a great place to be. Luckily you do have options and really should take one. Not just for your own medical needs and financial strain but for everyone else too. Uninsured are what drive the costs up. I agree with Obama to a point on using the car insurance as an example. If you go without insurance it was driving the costs up for those that were so that is what created the huge non-insurned motorists fine. However, I do believe it's unconstitutional to fine a person for going without health care since of course a car is a priveledge. Your health is your well being or life. Huge difference there. Nobody choses to be sick. You clearly have a way to google your way to coverage if your able to work. If your between jobs ask for help from Medicaid. (NOT a long term option). If your disabled or elderly you qualify for Medicare. I don't understand how any US Citizen can be without some kind of option?

I'm 55. I've never had health insurance because it makes no sense to add an insurance company's overhead on top of my health care costs. I've always paid cash. The Federal Governement has no business in health care. I know, Kelly, that you want me to pay for your health care, and if you asked, and understood that any help you received from others was charity, I might be willing to help you. But you don't want to damage your pride in asking for charity. You want an entitlement. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO MY CHARITY.

I love people like you, thinking its a right to have health care handed to you for free. I ask you this? Where the hell are my free guns? That's a right that's actually in the Constitution, but I don't hear anyone demanding the government to pay for that right.
I most certainly do know about not having health care and most of all I never would expect my fellow Americans to pay for mine. My husband works overtime in order to pay for our healthcare and it's not cheap. Make buying health insurance part of your priority rather than worrying about getting something for free. This is all about government control. It's amazing how our government always tries to slide medicaid and medicare fraud under the carpet. Tale care of that and we will then have true reform. Any true American that has self pride , will stand up and take care of themselves. There are no true freebies in life and if it sounds to good to be true then most likely it probably is.

Well now Kelly, if you are sitting in the library right now I apologize for what I am going to say. Since I doubt that you are (sitting in a library) I can surmise that you, 1. own a computer and 2. have internet services. Those two items alone cost about the same as an annual premium for health insurance. Therefore, I believe you have "chosen" to go without. I do know what it's like to not have insurance and choose to pay for it in spite of the high cost and high deductible because I know the peril of going it alone. Again, if you are in a public library, go read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. There is nothing in either document that declares public health coverage as a "right".
Well, I’m afraid I have to agree with the President on this one. People who claim to want the Government to stay out of Medicare deserve ridicule, unless their point is that they want Medicare to go away entirely.

Sure we do. That’s why we did what was necessary to OBTAIN health insurance (i.e., get a job with health insurance benefits, or buy private insurance, etc.). We know all about the hardships that go with trying to live a life UNPROTECTED by any sort of medical insurance–especially when an emergency health situation arises. It becomes all the more necessary to have coverage as you get older (which you probably have not yet experienced), because the older you get, the more health issues arise. Therefore, it would be a good idea to take steps NOW to find a way to get yourself covered. It’s also a good idea to start while young to develop GOOD HEALH HABITS, like not smoking or drinking or doing drugs, and eating a reasonably balanced diet, and exercising once in a while.
Good luck to you and all uninsured folks–but DO NOT EXPECT THE ENTIRE NATION OF TAXPAYERS TO FOOT THE BILL BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT YET FIGURED A WAY TO SUPPORT YOURSELF.
