Coakley Staffer Who Attacked Reporter Is an Obama Appointee
by Mike FlynnBig Government contributor Dana Loesch has reported on the Coakley staffer who attacked a Weekly Standard reporter outside a Martha Coakley fundraiser on Capitol Hill. A number of outlets have identified the culprit as Michael Meehan, a long-time Democrat political operative. Mr. Meehan was dispatched to the struggling campaign by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committe (DSCC).
Mr. Meehan, however, also happens to be a recent Obama appointee. On November 19, President Obama nominated Mr. Meehan to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors oversees federal news operations like Voice of America and Radio Free Europe.
I’m not certain attacking reporters who ask politicians challenging questions is the best qualification to provide an objective news voice to oppressed parts of the world. I would hope that our Broadcasting Board of Governors could at least agree that reporters should be free from political assaults.
Our Mr. Meehan has some explaining to do. His Senate confirmation hearing should be a hoot.
Update: A top GOP Senate Aide had this to say in response to this article: “The President should pull his nomination unless he thinks the BBG should be led by a guy now best known for suppressing the freedom of the press.”

Many of us who began using ID with Glenn Beck's 912 Project were used to having the vent page. It was the most used page on the site. This site is terrific, but sometimes it's nice to go a little off topic. You feel guilty doing that in an article post (at least I do). What is a BOZO button?
Many sites have a section where the threads are just for "chat", or even have a dedicated "chat" site off the original forum. One, that I know of, has as part of the mail function, a state by state site, where people living in that state can chat and/or talk about that state's politics or coming events.
I've never been on Beck's site, but have been on other sites that had a section or dedicated "vent" place, but it was to complain on, which is why I took a negative attitude to your suggestion. You do have to be careful, when posting at a "new" place, to not assume that everyone understands what you mean by a term that can easily be misconstrued. Sorry that I took it the wrrng way, but, as you can see, there was a good reason for me taking "venting" the wrong way.
Every day, there is an "open" thread here, which I guess you could use for "personal" chit-chat. OTOH, email would be better, to talk about personal stuff, I think, if you know the person's email addy.
