I am a German citizen, and a conservative. This Angela Merkel is not a conservative, and she has done everything in her power to make her party center-left with a bit of conservative rhetoric, too skimpy to cover it up. There is no genuine conservative party in the German parliament. Merkel was quite compliant under the old East German regime. Her party scored the weakest result in history. She wins this `conservative' majority because the centrist , mixed liberal/libertarian, free democrats made up for the losses, by collecting protest votes against the grand coalition, as did other smaller parties (namely the leftists, and the ecologists) that were in the opposition. This outcome is only one omen: that the deception as if we had had a choice in this election goes on unabated. Sound familiar?
