ACORN’s Lifeblood

For most Americans, ACORN is a political organization, running voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote efforts at election-time. With a rather alarming regularity, the pop into the news cycle with allegations of fraudulent voter registrations and, even, voter fraud.
No doubt, the recent undercover videos from ACORN Housing offices in Baltimore, Washington, DC, and, now, New York, are shocking. I’m a long-time observer of ACORNapalooza, and I found myself in stunned, silent disbelief as the interviews unfolded. It wasn’t just the subject-matter. No, it was the fact that not one ACORN employee seemed to even flinch when presented with the ridiculous scenario of a pimp and a prostitute trying to get a mortgage to house a dozen or so underage El Salvadoran child-prostitutes. They just oozed seamlessly into conjecture about whether or not a child prostitute could be considered a “dependent” for tax purposes. What do these employees hear on a daily basis that this scenario was just another problem that needed fixing?
But even these videos, no matter how disturbing, are just part of the ACORN story. As, too, is the pattern of problems with the voter registration system. This past weekend, Brandon Darby discussed his experience with ACORN when he was coordinating relief in post-Katrina New Orleans. ACORN saw New Orleans as their “turf” and targeted Brandon and his colleagues, trying to intimidate them to either submit to their “leadership” or leave. This is a pattern readers of Big Government will soon hear more about.
In fact, in the coming days, you’ll learn a lot about the full ACORN story. It is an amazing story, in its own way. After waiting years for the mainstream media to finally peel back the ACORN layers, Big Government will have to take it upon itself to do so.
To start this, we are publishing an internal quasi-employee manual Big Government has obtained. Given to all ACORN employees, it isn’t your normal manual. It doesn’t discuss things like sick leave or vacation time, but, rather, as the title states, the “Principles and Foundations of ACORN.” How an organization communicates with the public is important. How it communicates to its own employees, however, provides a richer understanding of an organization’s nature.
The whole thing is worth a read. I draw your attention to just one sentence (ACORN emphasizes it with italics):
ACORN’s lifeblood is conflicts with targets outside the organization.
Think about that. ACORN’s lifeblood isn’t empowering disadvantaged communities nor lifting people out of poverty. It isn’t concerned about increasing economic growth to improve the lives of its members. It’s lifeblood is conflict. Conflict with targets. It actually thinks of the world outside itself as targets.

There's another possible explanation for the behavior of the ACORN "tax advisors" and "home loan advisors" in O'Keefe's three videos thus far (I'm hoping he has more to offer). Think about it. The people advising what look like naive youngsters may be thinking, "We'll get 'em in deep and then put the squeeze on them." I would not be surprised if ACORN's offices nationwide run major extortion operationsamong the so-called clients and constitutents they have allegedly helped. The more illegal their clients' "businesses" the better. The squeeze could easily have some thin cover like "contributions" to ACORN's ongoing efforts to help "the community." It worked for the old Mafiosi so why not for ACORN?

I don’t know about the whole world being a target Mike, but certainly Capitalism, Christians, Conservatives, and Constitution. This is an insidious organization that needs to be dealt with by a real U.S. Attorney General who is willing to bring forth racketeering charges.

Clearly ACORN's targets would not be those with whom they have aligned themselves, those whom share ACORN's depraved ideals. I interpreted it as any whom do not share the same beliefs – it is they who are ACORN's targets. In other words, those groups who you have listed above.

What's interesting about the highlighted text is: If the goal is to minimize/eliminate internal conflict, then that would (by default) mean that everybody agrees with policy. And, based on what we've seen from James' and Hannah's videos, it infers that ALL ACORN employees are in agreement with these policies. Hence, it is INSTITUTIONAL, and not INDIVIDUAL policy.

Mike, what may need to be investigated in the near future is the paying of "hush" money (tax payer money) to the fired workers to keep quiet on the subject of their training — among other things. It's hard for me to believe that all the fired workers would keep quiet out of loyalty when ACORN wasn't too loyal to them.

A "bottoms up" organization chart. That means corruption begins at the staff level and is spread upward. So it is a corruption epidemic. No leadership and no ethics accountibility.

I spent all of one day working for an ACORN like organization down in NYC. It was the Public Interest Research Group, and they were/are basically glorified panhandlers running a pyramid scheme. The job pitch seemed kind of up my alley as a fresh out of college, political science student looking to help change the world. Of course the actual goals of the group looked eerily like this document. After a spending a day begging for money with a bunch of unwashed hippies (well, I should correct myself, their brains at least were throughly washed) I ran as far away as I could from that group and went and found a real job.
On a side note, I recently got paid 20 bucks extra for my one day working for them, seems they got nailed in a class action lawsuit because they wern't paying minimum wage! Don't you love that! One of their goals is to increase minimum wage, but they wern't even paying their employees that much! Shut these groups down NOW!!!

Because our dear leader started his polotical carreer with ACORN, I suspect that whatever is uncovered will blow away just like the Black Panther case. Isn’t it interesting that a Democrat wanted a full Congressional investigation into ACORN, only to back off. He said he was told to move away from the issue by “the powers that be.” I understand that Obama himself, as well as Rham Emmanuel told him to drop it. The Republicans have done a thorough investigation into ACORN, and all of it’s 361 affiliates. Queen Nancy, and King Harry won’t allow it to be brought out of Committee. I wonder why?

This year, I've been in 5 or 6 states helping install electronic medical records. At each location, the subject of drug reps came up, and at each location, the physicians had all refused to accept gifts from the drug reps.
A lot of states now legislating boundaries for drug reps, saying exactly what they can and can't do to entice a physician to prescribe their drug. No more all-expense-paid vacations to Tahiti, no more gentlemen's club nights out, no more big screen tvs.
It just struck me how similar lobbyists are to drug reps. I know one of Obama's promises was to get rid of lobbyists, and we all know he broke that promise in week one. If they can legislate against one cause of corruption, why can't the legislate against the same cause in a different business?
Every ACORN office should be chained shut and the FBI along with Justice Department should swarm in and collect evidence.
I want to know when someone will investigate the foreclosure/housing crisis and ACORN. I wonder what % of the country's foreclosure's were linked to ACORN related financing or referrals. Can someone track down those #'s??? You know doing this type of housing "advising" is going to cause lots of people just walking away from their homes. Where is HUD to investigate them??? Are they held to any housing regulations like banks and mortgage companies are when they are investigated for unfair housing practices??? HUD already does undercover investigations of banks and mortgage companies with fake applicants to make sure their is fair housing practices. Why don't we have something for these agencies that "advise" people on how to buy a home??? The corruption is deep in ACORN, we must DEMAND further investigation and ONGOING investigation of them.
Like it or not, we are judged by the company we keep. I would not want to be associated with the White House at this point. The sad thing here is, even if this goes all the way to the top, the scoundrels behind this wil just create another front group in the name of some charitable organization. If Obama really wants to get rid of fraud and excessive waste, why doesn't he completely defund ACORN? I sincerely hope he does, or it will be his political demise.

I think I'm witnessing the complete failure of Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. ACORN activists have applied these charltan rules effectively in small controlled environments, but what Hannah and Jeff have demonstrated is the complete and utter failure of said rules. They are kind of like a straw man meaning their is no foundation to them, no roots lets say. Therefore, those that have chosen to use them to intimidate, ridicule and bully to get their way are left vulnerable simply b/c the rules lack a strong basis in which to succeed long term. Instead, H and J are showing us or even teaching us how damned easy it truly is to chop them off at thier childish rules off at the knees giving them no leg to stand on.
too agree with the suggestion that these ACORN workers MUST work with a clientele that is burdened with challenges that many of us are rarely exposed too. It's almost as though the six women exposed thus far are so accustomed to serving a seedier or more street oriented clientele that little affects their psyche or soul anymore. It appears to be more symptomatic than intentional malice. Remember, even though these women are obviously breaking many laws, they live in a world few of us have been exposed too. I'd suggest keeping the focus on ACORN and not these worker bees. Something tells me life hasn't been kind to many of them. Yeah, I know, my liberal heart is showing, but these ladies are only a symptom of a much larger cancer.

Because the Dems control the house, senate, WH, DOJ. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are in charge. This is why every Dem we can get out of office in 2010 is a nod in the right direction. Only then will ACORN be investigated. Expect Holder’s DOJ to block it every step of the way though.
Great point on the PIRGs being a good deal like ACORN. I, too, worked for a PIRG (in Michigan) briefly. I was in college, and on summer break, and needed to find a job. I first took a 3-day seminar to sell Cutco Cutlery, realizing by the end of day 2 that while the knives may have been good, the sales techniques required deception, and that's not my thing, so I handed in my binder and said good-bye. The PIRG was next, and it turned out to be basically the same deal, only with shabbier offices.
I lasted less than a week. Despite being a brainwashed lefty at the time, and fully agreeing with the politics, it was obvious even to me that the tactics they were using were BS.
Eventually, I got work as a carpenter, and a second job as a dishwasher. The honest work didn't really wash away the dirty feeling of working for PIRGIM, but at least building houses meant I was leaving something useful behind at the end of the day.
Thank you, thank you for publicizing the truth about ACORN! Keep up the good work! The public simply is not aware of the rackets being run by ACORN, how Obama was a part of ACORN, how ACORN has helped in all his elections, and how he has repaid and continues to repay ACORN.
I don't consider Alinskyite tactics a complete failure. They are very effective until the fatal flaw is discovered. Exposure. Radical rabble-rousing only fully succeeds with a fully compliant media. True, they've got about 85% of it but, enough exists to stop it. An unregulated, completely open Internet will bring these people down. The victory will only be complete when we embarass the non-cable Broadcast Media and remaining print peddlers to start doing the job. I think they may go broke first but, that, to me, is victory. If Federal funding is completely withdrawn, these clowns are done. Then start clobbering the SEIU types.
As this plays out, I think their political power will start running for cover. Quite a few probably already have.
It's going to be very interesting to see who is going to provide cover and "aid and comfort", to these slimebags. I fully agree with getting as many dems defeated as possible but, who replaces them? Of course they try and get everyone in on the corruption, people then have to indite themselves if they talk. Compartmentalize the cells, but make sure everyone is dirty in those cells so that they all spy and and report on each other.

__Section 5: Act… Or Else! (They speak of cardiac arrest. What methods do they use as the analagous defribillator?)
__Section 6: Act like a leader, even if you can't. (Most of our members have no leadership experience)
__Section 7: ACORN now owns your life. (Not having enough time is no excuse for not working and ensuring others are working)

There's a reason why conflict is their lifeblood: it permits creation of an artificial crisis which they can use to go to their contributers and beg for more money. All these kinds of organizations do this.
People who contribute to ACORN, or to People for the American Way, or similar advocacy groups, get used to receiving letters citing the latest emergency and asking for extra donations in the good cause. Without those created emergencies, their fund raising would be considerably less effective.

Additional reading should be to look into the Union Membership manuals of EVERY Union.
When I worked for a company that was under a unionizing attack, I learned that many unions have statements in their manuals that are either directly quoting or invoking the political agendas and beliefs of either a Socialist or Communist party.
I would love to see a site with a library of union manuals scanned and published for all of us to see and study.
Seeing their manual in this context is very worthwhile and will help patriots understand the ideology that drives the liberal quest to destroy the Republic created and enacted by the signers of the Constitution.
UNIONS are responsible for most of the problems the U.S.A. is experiencing today. THEY are the reason that most American companies now outsource. THEY are largely responsible for putting the “Big O” into office.
